First off, thank you all for all the work put into this sub. So much information in one place!
In last weeks questions thread, I asked what I was likely not thinking to order due to my cream/dessert aversion--flavors which have something outside the cream/dessert world to offer in the quest for fully delicious flavor profiles. I may have desperately typed 'creams for people who don't like creams but know they can serve other purposes like dense mouthfeel and stuff' into the search bar after a few hours of not being able to find what I was looking for. That search was not very productive, by the way.
When I gave up on the search bar and posted to the weekly questions thread, I was offered some advice from u/juthinc about chocolates and marzipan, and u/mixmintress replied with a vote for a coconut and CAP Vanilla Whipped Cream (as well as inspiring me to make this post).
In other (slightly more successful) search combos, I found 1% FA Marshmallow recommended for mouthfeel without flavor and this FAQ Friday post also mentioning marshmallow (along with the fruit loving staples like cactus for that juicy feeling and dragon fruit for emulsification magic)
So, for fruit/candy/floral/herbal/non-bakery/non-cream vape lovers, what else are we likely to overlook flavor wise that would really put the oomph in our juice? What is a secret weapon you put a dollop of in juices for people who don't go in for bakery/cream vapes that they'd never guess was there? Help add to my already unreasonably long list of second order flavors!
If you want the thickness mouth feel, MTS Wizard.. Banana flavors tend toward creaminess without a dairy aspect... Coconut is actually useful making dairy more realistic.
Hmmm banana. That makes sense actually, a frozen banana in a (real, drinkable) smoothie can make it feel like there's ice cream in it without adding ice cream, so I can definitely see how that works. Think it would work similarly in a vape? Say, adding a low percentage to other fruits for a smoothie feel? Perhaps with some magic ws-23 for cooling?
It depends on the banana you choose, of course, but I suspect it would.
AP adds that cereal or crusty flavor.
Other than bakery I've seen this recommended for tobacco; curious if you've ever used/seen it used with other flavor profiles?
FA Cocoa+FA Chocolate+AP is a mix that comes to mind. And I think I saw it with coconut before.
Oba Oba for fruits, dragon fruit of course and pear, flv guanabana and flv wild melon can be secret weapons in recipes that need a little umph...;)
How strong is the honeydew note in wild melon? I have not enjoyed honeydew as a forward flavor in a vape, but have seen it in flavor profiles I wouldn't have picked it out of. So if it's just a hint I might have to grab that one.
I like tfa Kentucky bourbon (have other bourbons but haven’t tested them yet) for adding depth to desserts without having to mess with bakery type flavors. Toasted almond and ky bourbon are a nice pairing that you can sneak in sometimes. I can’t name a recipe off the top of my head though.
I can’t really help with concentrate reccos as I’m pretty new to this. I mixed some of THIS and it’s quite awesome. Not heavy. A very light and flavorful, true to taste coconut milk. FWIW.
TPA marshmallow 0.5-1% will give a full mouth feel and make fruits "pop" it helps bridge fruits together and at a small percentage you dont really taste it.
FA meringue at around 1% will help sweeten a mix it has a very mild flavor that won't really stand out in a mix. You can also use it at an even lower percentage 0.0-0.5% to create a confectioners sugar taste and mouth fill
a touch of a coconut flavor will "cream" up your juice without it being dairy flavored.
Vanilla Swirl or other vanilla can be good with fruits , Cap jelly candy is a good one as well. Fa Jammy/candy wizard is interesting to add to fruits.
> vanilla can be good
False
I'm thinking vanilla profiles with some of the florals I have would be good, I see vanilla creams used to "smooth out" some of the harsh notes they can have. Do you have a favorite/most reached for one?
Wf vanilla cream extra for a cream , vanilla swirl isn't really a cream but it is creamy I guess , that's pretty much all I use.
Custards and some creams can be pretty damn good with tobacco, wood/smoke, or dark liquor flavors. Helps to smooth and blend them together. Same with coconut.
My go to mix I kind of eyeball and tweak most times consists of tobacco/ry4, oak wood, bourbon, coconut, and a cream or custard. It is god damned magical and gets a lot of comments in passing about what is that wonderful smell.
Really, creams, custards, some bakeries (biscuit for example), and coconut go good with dark, rich, bitter, complex flavors. Help to mellow and balance and add depth. If you like stuff like tobacco, coffee, alcohol etc then some dessert or bakery flavors can work with them really well without actually being dessert/bakery flavors.
