New to DIY even though I've been vaping since 2011. First post here even though I've been reading this sub for the three months when I thought I wanted to get into DIY.
Did most of my research here along with Fresh from the kitchen with TVC Brian and Fresh03. I love Naked Lava Flow it is my weakness I just whipped up a clone an hour ago that I found on ELR and just wow can't believe I waited this long.
Thanks again.
Welcome to the fabulous world of DIY!
So have you tried the clone yet, or are you letting it steep?
If you've tried it and it's awesome, can you link the recipe? I'm always looking to try new flavors.
This is one of a few that I found I mixed this one up because it only had five flavors. Says it's a shake and vape pineapple is strong though but at 24 hours the strawberry has really come out.
- Coconut Extra (TPA) %1
- Pineapple (TPA) %1
- Strawberry (TPA) %7
- Sweet Cream (TPA) %1
- Sweetener (Sucralose/Maltol) (TPA) %1
I mixed a second recipe up using %4 strawberry and add %4 strawberry ripe thinking this one may taste a little better. Also seen some mixing in Almond at like %0.5 going to add that to my next order.
Congrats! You'll love DIY; the people are smart, helpful, and decent for the most part--like, really nice and resource-sharing and guiding people. And funny!
I've just started posting here but I too have been reading the whole time and could not have done it without all of the communal knowledge and guidance. I've saved so much money it's ridiculous. Vaping was already SO MUCH CHEAPER than smoking, and DIY makes vaping just so affordable. I don't feel bad about buying supplies and flavors ever, because it's just so much cheaper no matter what I do.
I believe I started DIY in Feb of 2017, after I started vaping in January 2017. I don't want to knock any vendors, and actually I was lucky in that the first one I tried was an awesome guy who makes juice with no added sweetener etc, really talented and also kind to the community ( /u/cloudberryvapors ). But every--EVERY--commercial juice I've tried other than his I haven't even finished a small tank of. Once in awhile I buy things because I'm curious about something, and it never works out for me. Blech. It's just like... Why? I can make something better; in fact I have 5 better choices I made right here. PS I'm glad I'm not the only one using ELR; I find it easy to use and I don't know what everyone's always complaining about. Yeah, you might have to adjust a recipe. Yeah, you might have to sift through a lot. But I think it's part of the learning process, and I actually like that site's features a lot and the way it displays things. Dang, I just reminded myself to throw that site guy a few bucks...
Appreciate the love! Glad i can make something you enjoy. I find myself in the same boat. I buy about 2 flavors, sometimes. From other commercial guys. Not sure whats going on over there, i feel on a different planet though lol. We are doing 50% off now for being back to the sub, code 50off.
Keep rocking the DIY, ever need an experienced eye to look over some recipes to see if i have any input let mw know OP! I would be more than willing to do that for you!

ELR has issues just like any site. One of their largest issues imo is the amount of outlandish recipes on there. For instance, a few days ago, I saw a recipe that called for 12% of a fruit and 8% koolada. Eight percent koolada. I have a fairly decent tolerance built up right now and I wouldn’t go anywhere near that amount. RIP to the new person that doesn’t know any better and just sees someone else commenting how great the recipe looks. Let’s not forget the recipe that called for 6% TFA Honey...
Flavors. Yikes. Anyone can put whatever gibberish as a flavor. There’s over 100,000 on the flavors page and not limited to anything coherent (hashtag or numbers are listed even).
How many recipes of the same exact recipe does ELR need? Apparently a couple of dozen of the recipe is popular. This isn’t counting the recipes where someone changes or adds 0.01% of something... Wouldn’t hurt to credit the original creator either instead of omitting that but that’s another gripe.
Use what works for you though!
Yeah, the insane duplication of flavors is my biggest beef with ELR and it seems like that would be hard to fix without purging a lot of data, including people's recipes. Maybe they could just be deadlinked though, I'm not sure how any of it could work. I've fantasized about offering to help clean up the database but it's not really my area.
I hear you on the other stuff too.
I sort both the flavor returned results and recipes and go with the highest number (like, TPA Poopsiewoo will return 30 possibles, but one usually has a far, far, far higher # of users using that one). Ditto a titled recipe.
Really though, all my crap is just over there! I'm sure I'll end up making an ATF account, since that's where the cool kids hang out.
I make mine on elr but browse both..you can easily sign up for atf for free and check out the great recipes...I definitely recommend it, you just hit the recipes and when you get to ones you’ve seen already you know you’ve seen all the new ones, that’s what I do...;)
Soon you will find yourself at 3 am ordering vg and pg by the gallon and suddenly several small packets will start to appear at your door, filled with weird flavorings like caramel/aloe and buttcrack/pecan none of which you remembered ordering.
Yes yes that is myself I'm describing... FML but diy is fun
