Does koolada calm down with a steep?
submitted almost 7 years ago by dillycrawdaddy

I realize I can just wait to find out. I added 1% koolada to a pink lemonade recipe and it’s quite overpowering. I never vape menthols but this recipe called for it and I wanted to recreate it faithfully the first time. Will probably drop it to .5% or exclude it entirely next time. I think the fruit/lemonade will fade with a steep so I’d like to vape this now rather than later, but just for informative purposes, does the koolada effect fade with a steep?

My 2 cents...fuck koolada. WS-23 for the win.

I have gathered that most prefer ws-23 by reading on here, but hash graciously shared with me a recipe of his that I love, so I figured I’d make it exactly as he does. When I have bought his I didn’t even notice a koolada effect and I now assume it must be because it steeped a little during shipping. Will pick up some WS-23 in the near future. Thanks.

Wasn't aware he released that one. Wink wink send me a pm. From what I've read ws-23 wasn't widely available when some recipes we're created. It is now so I see no reason not to sub it out. I too grabbed a 10ml for a couple recipes to stay true like you did but have subbed for ws-23. It's just better.

I’d love to do that because it’s a fucking fantastic pink lemonade, but I don’t want to burn any bridges/piss him off, ya know? He was nice enough to share with me something that he spent time crafting and makes money from so I’d feel bad about sharing it. Just pm/email him and ask, that’s all I did.

I've been holding out on buying new flavors for the second part of Hash's recipe dump, I think it's been half a year.

Where can I find his first recipe dump?

Would you maybe share the recipe? I saved all of his recipe's I could find.

Sorry I don’t think that would be right, as I said in another comment. Someone pinged him here, if he wants to comment, I’ll leave that to him. I probably shouldn’t have mentioned it! Apologies everyone!

I cannot tell if I just get used to the koolada in my mixes so that I don't notice it as much, or if it really does calm down eventually. It is definitely harsher right after mixing so perhaps both?

Thanks for your reply. I suspected it would be harsher right after mixing, but unsure because I’ve never used it.

Koolada is not a menthol. Menthol is mint and cooling combined. Koolada is straight cooling. WS-23 is better straight cooling. WS-23+FA polar blast is the best straight cooling...at least of what is currently widely available.

Yes it will eventually fade but it'll also taint the mix too. It got replaced by WS-23 however you won't totally get the full effect as you'll get the coldness on the exhale.

The best route to get the koolada as intended is FA's Polar Blast which is 7% Koolada and 3% Menthol Lactate - However, it fades fast and is clean which you'll get in the inhale.

It's crazy why most don't combo them and went straight WS-23 but I take it a don't have it while WS-23 probably is the biggest thing to come out in the past year when it comes to a flavor and 100% a must get and 30ml off the bat too because it's 100% legit.

I always pair ws-23 with polar blast so I get the cold on both the inhale and the exhale.

I got polar blast thanks to you as your little mini-rant on Noted, which makes perfect sense, and all is well. Although I keep the Polar low around .25% and WS-23 around .50% when I combo them.

thats a good start I think. I might switch them so I get stronger cooling on the exhale but that would work better for you.

Not really. In the future, it's best to limit Koolada to 0.5% at most for any recipe.

That’s my plan. Thanks for the info.

Sure. I've mixed a bit with Koolada and anything higher than half a percentage is just awful.

Well it’s not that terrible, just not to my taste. Glad I only made a 10ml tester. 👍

Depends on the brand too, i feel satisfied above 3% with the one i bought.

It depends on tolerance too. Vaping only cooled juices will build a tolerance rapidly.

Ok let the koolada air out for about 4 hours it helps even it out the taste allowing it to no longer be over powering (I work with vape juice everyday at work)

I’ll try it. What do you mean exactly? Leave the bottle open?

4 points

by Mr-PoopyBholealmost 7 years ago

Yeah just leave the cap off for about 4 hours but put something over it like a cloth just so it can breathe but nothing can get in it (it attracts flies if left open)

Does that have negative effects on the nicotine? Oxidization? The particular juice in question here has 20mg nic salts.

Lol I'm a menthol fan my self.

1 points

by mariecrystiealmost 7 years ago

I only do one drop of koolada per 5 ml or less.

by iowabeansalmost 7 years ago

If menthols come off a little strong you can also try spearmints/wintergreens

Personally, I won't vape koolada. It gives me chemical pneumonia. Some people vape it fine, but read the MSDS. It won't calm down.

Can you expand on this please? Just mixed some up last night...

The MSDS for koolada says it is a known respiratory irritant. I know I've had more than a couple adverse reaction. YMMV.

PG is a 'known respiratory irritant' too...

Honestly, you wasted time asking this instead of finding out yourself? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Honestly, you waste your time making the same remarks on every post you comment on. How about going away and stop soiling this sub with your shitty attitude?

I agree. It's ridiculous that people keep coming to the do it yourself juice subreddit asking all these questions about making juice themselves. Why don't they just like find a resource online and learn for themselves. That's what I did. I found a great subreddit and asked a bunch of questions and read other people's posts. It was called DIYeJuice or something like that. Go there you damn millennials and get out or my lawn! Uh I mean subreddit.

Bud koolada is a relatively new flavour extract so people may not know what to do with it
