Recent first time DIY mixer here, learned some tough lessons after about a month of mixing my own juice. I took a lot of time researching the flavors that I would be working with, and made some really bad choices. TFA's Taro was the first one.
I have been a life long lover of the taro , I was convinced I could work my magic with this flavor despite precautions that this is for experienced juice makers (and that it was fucking gross). After wasting an uncomfortable amount of juice experimenting with this greasy nightmare of a flavor I had to cast it out of my life forever, I may have destroyed my taste for one of my most beloved favorite foods of all time.
Lesson learned: if you really love the idea of a flavor that is complex and hard to obtain don't try to force it into being, especially if your still learning the ropes. People spend a lot of time testing flavors, take their notes seriously.

The other flavor I tossed is FA Lychee. This vile cat-piss is offensive on a personal level, however wasteful it may be to straight up junk it I just had to, the odds I might absentmindedly toss a dash into something I'm making in the future were too dangerous. It's like I was in denial of how truly bad it was, the ghost of lychee candies from my childhood danced just out of reach, clouding my memory and luring my subconcious into giving it a second chance one too many times.

While I have eclectic tastes when it comes to juice I have learned that it might be some time before I am perfecting that highly personalized ADV, if I'm going to stay off the death-sticks I gotta have something dependable to rely on, even if its a little more standard than what I'd usually buy from a vendor. I smoked multiple packs a week for over 7 years, I can't afford the amount of e-liquid I go through when completely cutting off tobacco if I don't DIY. I'll take a basic-ass lemonade over lung cancer and migraines.

I am going to play it safe, I looked up some simple actual recipes, ordered standard flavors with tons of positive reviews, Thank you to all the people on here who do so much work to help people figure out how to make DIY happen in their own lives.
I'm now tapping my fingers waiting for the vape mail, anyone have any flavors they have had to literally throw away?
I had that with TFA Cinnamon Danish, it made me cough and vaping cinnamon just doesn't work for me. Several months later, I finally got FLV cinnamon to try
I also bought dx brown sugar to try out and as I go to mix it, I see ELR warn me. Turns out it has an alcohol in it that *may* cause cancer. I'm obviously still pissed as to why they would do that and the fresh bottle in the trash.
Anything with cinnamon in it gives me acid reflux badly enough to make me gag. I don’t know why, I eat cinnamon all the time with no issue, but vaping it is a no-go.
If you haven't already completely lost it, tfa taro has a trick to make it work well. You have to dilute it to 10% and then use .5% of that. Otherwise even low percentages are going to completely destroy any mix its in.
I'd give it another try like that if you can stomach it. I made the same mistake.
Use the dilution with tfa peanut butter to make it a little bit more robust. The PB will stick around a bit longer without turning into a peanut soup, too.
oh dope, yeah even a single drop in a 60ml ended up turning everything into a greasy mouth-bomb, even after extended curing. I am elbow deep in the trash now, lol. Yeah I will give that a try, I'll probably wait a month or two to forget the horrors I created and try diluting it, I have some FE Sweet Rice comin my way, once I get handle on a solid rice dessert mix I could see taro pairing well. Thanks for the advice !
TFA Cheesecake. Just no.
Got that last winter, made a small batch with a fruit flavor.... Haven't touched it since.
Just nasty
FA Weed flavour, tastes like grass n ass
Not to be rude, but what did you think it was going to taste like?
INW Wild Strawberry. Even .5% of a 10% dilution makes your juice taste like the bathroom air freshener at your favorite beachside sushi joint.
Damnnnnnnn
came here to put any type of lychee, but they have a special ring in hell for whoever bottled lychee tfa.
It's too bad there's not an exchange/classifieds that can be setup for this. I just know I'm gonna end up with a pile of stuff I'll have no use for. And there's gotta be hundreds of others in the same boat.
/r/concentrade was a thing but it's incredibly dead at this point like it's lone mod /u/notcharlesmanson
Subd and gonna post. Let's get it back goin 😎
I've seen concentrates sold here in this sub so I don't see why one couldn't set one up. These are flavorings. Nothing controlled about it so can't see it breaking any reddit rules. Pretty sure there's swapping going on now just not publicly.
Yeah I just felt like it would be toeing the line maybe a bit too close
The only flavor I ever threw away was FA Red Bean. It tasted and smelled to me like a billion bell peppers crushed into a singularity, and I do not care for bell peppers one bit.
I mistakenly ordered FW Chocolate Mint. And I'll probably toss the bottle of unholy vanilla I was forced to buy for a custom order mix. Totally useless for anything I'd want to make. And I have some TFA red type that I'm not sure if I'll ever figure out a use for. I also have a bottle of ~~reformulated~~ruined INW Milk Chocolate. Not happy about that one.
Red Type is the one that has some sort of cooling sensation to it right?
Fa pineapple
Instead of throwing mine away, I keep it somewhere where I can see it every day. It helps keep me from being afraid of death, in fact it makes me look forward to its sweet embrace. Someday, I'll be lucky enough to die and no longer have to live on the same planet as FA Pineapple.
It's too bad I didn't see this post yesterday. I just made a mix with FA Pineapple today, and I gotta say... not my favorite pineapple. For me, it's one that everyone raved about, Strawberry Shisha. Completely overwhelms any recipe I've used it in. That and TFA VBIC because of pepper taste.
I’m considering tossing Capella sugar cookie v1. I can’t get a decent standalone/simple cookie out of it. It performs well as an accent note, but I want a solid cookie flavor. I have a quarter of a bottle left so I’ll probably finish it off using it as an accent, but I’ll be looking into an alternative cookie flavor.
FA cookie (biscotto) might be what you're looking for.
I was ready to give up on CAP Sugar Cookie, too. It was recommended as a great buttery cookie and whatnot. All I got from it at high-ish percentages was perfumed bakery, even after a steep. I was damn happy that I just had bought a 13 ml bottle. Until I found this recipe. Wow. 100% I'll keep buying it again. And I have done that already. Yes, it doesn't work as a standalone, but it does great things in a combination like this. It's my favorite flavor to vape when I'm having coffee. Enough said!
I have CAP Sugar Cookie and TFA Sugar Cookie, and I figured out that no matter the concentration, for my taste buds, they both "muddy" every other flavor they are mixed it. It's feels like if I want to dilute every other flavor in the recipe, sugar cookie is the way to make the juice as "meh" as possible. They've even muddied banana for me, which I didn't think was possible.
Just wondering, do you get weird off notes from it? I’ve gotten some weird off notes depending on the recipe it’s used in but found they can go away based off the recipe and steep time.
I get weird notes yah. Weird, bland, off flavors or no flavor at all. I’ve let the basic recipe of 6% sugar cookie and 2% vanilla custard v1 steep for a week to a week and a half and it turned out bland and gross.
Just about (haven't tried them all) any strawberry other than TFA strawberry ripe taste like chapstick
Every time someone throws away a strawberry flavor /u/juthinc is momentarily overcome by frisson
He said I was blessed by being a non strawberry taster.
For me FA black tea, I read the reviews and it sounded alright, I then ordered 120ml of it stupidly enough, it feels and tastes like I'm vaping paint thinners.
Haven't thrown it out yet purely because I'm so stingy.
I like it. Picked it up for one of hash's recipes. Just can't go heavy with it.
I've tried it varying between 0.25% and up to 1.75% as suggested by a recipe by ID10T I believe.
Steeped 2 weeks nothing, I really don't know. I hit up Bull City about it and they said there's been no reports of other batches being bad. There is the possibility that they are wrong though, or I just super don't get along with that flavour...
I like fa black tea. Maybe try it lowish and Palmer it with your lemonade of choice and fruit it up. u/fomentlife suggested a peach Palmer once that was like Snapple iced tea to me. I prefer black tea with bolder flavors but I like an all around bold flavored vape.
TFA Grape Candy. Tried it at like 2%....I felt like I was vaping cough medicine. I haven’t tossed it, I’m keeping it as a reminder to never order something because you think it sounds good lol.
- CAP-Glazed Doughnut
- CAP-Funnel Cake
- TFA-Pancake
- TFA-Apple Candy
- INW-Watermelon
- INW-White Grapefruit
- FLV-Tricks Cereal
Guava. It sounds so amazing but I swear to Jesus it’s the most pointless horrible liquid available
I don't throw shit out, but these are my top 3 regrets:
TFA Guava
FW Waffle Cone
NF Fresh Baked Bread
If anyone's had success I'd be willing to give it a shot.
Just mix those three up at 5% each for a total of 15%, add 5% supersweet and name it "Homeless Dessert"
Just posted to e-liquid-recipes.com with a 5 star rating.
120ml
24mg
80/20 PG/VG
Steep for at least 6 months

I don't know why I haven't thrown those away. But I regret buying TFA Dr. Pop. No matter what I do, I just get a sort of clove soda flavor from it. Also, TFA Irish Cream. Nothing close to what I expected, it's just gross.
TFA Irish Cream? It's actually pretty good for a Bailey's mixed with a bit of Malibu. Toss some into a hot chocolate, if you don't want to vape it.
TFA Rose Candy - I enjoy rose jelly and I've had some various rose candies from Asia that tasted wonderful, so I figured I could find a way to use this as an accent in recipes. Nope. It's extremely floral and is one of those juices where no matter what strength you add it, it somehow overpowers all other flavors or finds ways to bring out the "yuck" in the mix. It smells fine, and that's because it has all the essence of a good rose potpourri, along with what I would assume is the flavor profile of eating potpourri chips. There's nothing "candy" about it.
Inawera Rose makes a delicious turkish delight with a bit of FA Marshmallow!
How is it as a single flavor? Those TFA X Candy flavors seem to work best that way to me. Mint Candy, Musk Candy, etc etc. (I even ended up with four ounces of Violet Candy because I thought it was being discontinued--the only 4 ounces of anything I have--so if anyone's looking for it, I have all of it over here).
I remember hearing that Rose Candy was more like straight-up rose flavor, and FA Rose is more like a rose candy (I do like FA Rose as a single flavor, and I believe it will mix well, but I haven't tried TFA RC).
I did try it as a single flavor. It's like rose perfume. To me, there's nothing candy about it, and it's very, very floral (which I thought would be interesting, but became tiring before I got through a 2ml tank). I haven't tried their Rose flavor, so what you hear may be correct. As a flavor for mixing, it's just too powerful and I have had zero success trying to make it work in the three recipes I concocted for it.
I admit, it's challenging to use, and needs a couple week steep, but it can work. TFA Musk Candy, while a bit trickier, is also nice... but I have one ~~guinea pig~~ taste tester who absolutely hates any recipe I've used it in. Some people are more sensitive to certain flavors.
On a lark I purchased TFA's "cannabis" flavour.
That one went into the trash (it tastes like cannabis... Fresh cannabis, not smoked cannabis.)
TFA Pralines and Cream
I bought it to compare with Flavor West's version, when working on a remix of Clean Cream by Fresh Juice co.
I mixed up a tester at 2% and it tasted like cat piss and door mats, mixed with a dash of shower curtains. I kept the tester for 3 months, returning hesitantly to try it each time after the trauma of my initial experience. It never got any better. PTSD in vape form.
All of TFA rootbeer (x3) Black licorice ruins it.
TFA blueberry x3
Wild is the best, but is extremely subtle.
TFA Juicy Peach - RIP throat
Same goes with Apricot except that actually has a use. At 1% it can lift up some tropical mixes
TFA cheese cake (mentioned already) Gross
Really? I love FA Lychee. I mix it with INW or FA blackcurrant for an earthy, fruity, dark fruit flavor. Really like it.
4% Blackcurrant, 1% Lychee.

What I tossed is all the Diacetyl flavors I bought initially (because sidebar...). Not because they scared me, but because they made me vomit. Sickly burnt rancid butter made me nauseous after 2 puffs.
I have some Inawera that so far are not good. I tend to think I'm using them wrong (too high).
Basically I grabbed one of everything that seemed mint-involved or cold. So far I really do not like Frost or Ice Candy (holy hell that one traumatized me).
Ice Candy and Ice Grappe share a very terrible high-pitched chemically something that I think is the "Ice" plus something that's supposed to smooth or blend it. I put these 3 in a steep drawer and I'm afraid to deal with them further. Blech.
I think I learned I would rather deal with my own cooling.
Btw I have a 10 ml of INW Coolada--can anyone tell me if it is supposed to be a flavor, or a cooling agent? Right now it's in the in-the-event-of-zombie-apocalypse drawer, after those Ice Ice Trauma experiences.
