October 2018 Recipe Thread
submitted almost 7 years ago by ApexifiedSuckling from the teats of Daenerys Targaryen

This is the thread to share the mixes you're proud of and want other mixers to mix. If you want to share your recipe as its own post, it should have development notes, variations, and/or the thoughts that went into choosing the flavors. But don’t forget to share it here, as well!

We also have a Weekly Questions thread for new mixers or general questions that also has links to all the other weekly threads. Check it out if you’re not sure where to post.

If you need help formatting your recipe, choose one of the following:

<Flavor> (<Vendor>) @ x%
<Flavor> (<Vendor>) @ x%
<Flavor> (<Vendor>) @ x%

Or if you'd like to use a "fancy" table format it like this:

Co. | Flavor | %

---|---|----

A1 | A2 | A3
B1 | B2 | B3

To get this:

Co. | Flavor | % ---|---|---- A1 | A2 | A3 B1 | B2 | B3

Be sure to check out all the fantastic creations from the September thread.

##Congrats to /u/Bassmutt for taking inspiration from tragedy and creating something beautiful out of it as a tribute to a man who obviously raised them right. It was a touching story and an awesome looking recipe, as well. Thank you for sharing both.

007 Cola

|Flavor|Percentage| |:-|:-| |FW - Blood Orange|0.4%| |FA - Bourbon (Vanilla)|0.4%| |VT - Fizzy Sherbet|3.5%| |FLV - Rich Cinnamon|0.07%| |CAP - Super Sweet|0.25%| |WS-23|0.5%|

This is my cola recipe, made from scratch for your enjoyment. It's a shake and vape recipe, and I put a lot of time and energy into making it work.

That is intriguing, I never seen such low percentages. I got two questions. it's shake and vape but does it get shelf-stable? How does it fare after 2 weeks?

Also, what is VT again? Can't seem to find it on ECX :(

by AlfredPuddingalmost 7 years agoDiketones, Schmiketones

The answer to the first question is yes. I’ve tested many versions of this, even before the October Mixers’ Club challenge was a thing. It gets where I want it to be overnight and is stable from there. The answer to the second question is Vape Train. You can get it from BullCityFlavors if you’re looking for a vendor. I hope you enjoy it if you get around to mixing it up!

So with the blood orange and bourbon are you making a dilution or measuring by drop in a larger batch? I think with my scale the only way I could accurately do that is making a 60ml and even then that would be about a drop.

2 points

by akatash23almost 7 years ago

A fat drop of Rich Cinnamon is usually enough to make a difference in a small, say 30ml batch. But is FW Blood Orange and the Vanilla actually noticeable at these percentages? I know these are not necessarily super strong flavors.

1 points

by AlfredPuddingalmost 7 years agoDiketones, Schmiketones

I’m sorry, when I entered the percentages here I mistyped them. The Blood Orange and Vanilla should not have been that low.

2 points

Aha, yes, that looks more noticeable ;-)

The percentages look off here, Blood orange and Vanilla Bourbon should be 0.4% according to ATF, not 0.04%? Excellent recipe regardless!

Alfred's Pudding

|Flavor|Percentage| |:-|:-| |FA - Bourbon (Vanilla)|2%| |INW - Custard|.75%| |VT - Golden Syrup|1.5%| |FLV - Sweet Coconut|.75%| |FLV - Vanilla Pudding|3.5%|

Bourbon (Vanilla) is a delicious vanilla flavor used to add authenticity and spiciness to the recipe. INW Custard is used to add a slight hint of egg without turning this into a custard. VT Golden Syrup adds the caramelized sugar syrup for nuance. FLV Sweet Coconut brings out some of the buttery notes. FLV Vanilla Pudding is the pudding. For a full discussion: Click Here

What PG VG are you using with that recipe, my recipes starts to get satisfying way above 12% with 70/30 VG/PG base?

Edit: Or are those flavours more concentrated?

4 points

by juthincalmost 7 years agoमैंगो कस्टर्ड

There's a bunch of weak flavors, there's a bunch of really strong ones.

If I'm making a six or seven concentrate recipe, I might get to 12%. Or if I'm making something with LA Lemonade and another fruit, I'll probably get up there. Using TFA White chocolate pretty guarantees that I'll be over 12% total flavor. But then look at 1-2-3 recipes: they (by definition) contain 6% total flavor.

3 points

by horrendalmost 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

I mix all my juice 70/30 VG/PG. They're just standard concentrates. There's plenty of low % recipes that are full of flavour though. It really depends on the concentrates. TPA sweet tea for example needs a good 10% before you get anything from it but there's others that will blow your head off high, one of the cinnamons I think.

Anyone vaping TFA Cinnamon Spice @12% would never again taste anything other than cinnamon in their life. It'd be like vaping straight FLV Rich Cinnamon. Even .012% TFA Cinnamon Spice is too much.

I have never liked lemony vapes, but I could see it had it's place here. I dialed that flavor down to my preference, and I know it's only been 24 hours, but this is good stuff!

The vegetal aspect is something that I have been craving without really knowing it. Cap Cucumber is a great flavor, very refreshing. The lemon compliments it well. The bourbon ties in nicely. If anyone is looking for a break from sweet/creamy/fruity, this is it!

Nice job horrend, I'll give it some more time to be fair, then leave a review at ATF. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the kind words, I look forward to seeing how you get on with it. For me it didn't change much other than the lemon calming down some.

Ismene’s Folly
’tis witless to be over busy’

Vendor |Concentrate | %
:-- |:--|:-- INW |Yes, We Cheesecake |2.0% TPA |Cheesecake (Graham Crust) |1.0%
LA |Cream Cheese Icing |1.0% TPA |Bavarian Cream |1.0% TPA |Honeysuckle |2.0% INW |Marzipan |0.5%

This is a straightforward honeysuckle cheesecake, with a buttery tart crust.

INW Yes, We Cheesecake This is my very favorite cheesecake concentrate. Fluffy mouthfeel, cheesy tang, no weird vanilla note. Not much crust to it, imo, hence:

TPA Cheesecake Graham Cracker Crust This one is all crust. It fills a role similar to CAP sugar cookie, imo, minus the butter and vanilla. While delicious, it’s a tad dry, hence:

LA Cream Cheese Icing This is a slightly sour icing, with a slick mouthfeel. It’s also pretty damn sweet.

TPA Bavarian Cream I wanted to avoid using any vanilla in this one, purely out of empathy for poor u/juthinc, who doubtless vomits into a pail beside his desk everyday whilst visiting this sub. Fortunately, Bavarian Cream is a deliciously smooth, slightly nougat-y, slightly sweet cream that mates perfectly with the last two ingredients.

TPA Honeysuckle A long, passionate kiss upon lips damp with sweat, and breath heavy with desire.

INW Marzipan Buttery almond, hint of cherry, a swift bite along the sides of your tongue.

Edit: Forgot to mention steep times... Most of the ingredients improve over time; the Bavarian cream and the cream cheese icing really develop after a week. The Marzipan and Honeysuckle will fade in to the recipe a bit after 2-3 days. You can vape this right off the shake and it will be tasty, albeit a little too floral for my tastes. After 3 days the crust comes a bit forward, and after 7 days you’ve got a cohesive tapestry.

If you happen to enjoy this, and then improve it, please share your modifications with me!

Benedict Cumbercake

A full bodied lime pie with a thin but delicious icing and cucumber slices on top of it.

Key Lime Pie is a good flavor on it's own, adding a touch of INW Biscuit and two touches of TPA Pie Crust completes the baked base for me, while not being in your face cakey or dry.
LA Cream Cheese Icing is becoming one of my favorite flavors lately, it's just so versatile, in this recipe, it's exactly used as intended, the literal icing on the cake.

CAP Lemon Sicily and INW Lime lend the citrus punch that I was looking for. Going higher with Key Lime Pie was tried but reverted due to the whole thing becoming too dry for my liking.

Finally, some surprisingly well fitting slices of cucumber to make the cake a special snowflake.

Good after a 2 week steep.

Crisp Debts

TFA Red Oak - .75%

SC Cohiba - 2%

HS Tab Blended - 3%

INW DNB - 1%

This was created with my first press of the 'random recipe' button. It's a pretty fantastic ry4, but I can't really take credit for it. Our computer overlords can, for sure.

Red oak is a little woody, but it's mostly dark sweetness. I typically use FA Oak Wood, but they are pretty much interchangeable.

DNB is ash, and a good amount of it keeps this dirty, instead of full on sweet.

Cohiba is really good stuff, sweet, a little bit of leaf, and nutty. Not an in your face tobacco, but I really enjoy it.

Tab Blended is essentially a nutty ry4, and it either has no vanilla, or I can't taste it, thank god. It's a very smooth, light caramel, and the 'tobacco' in it basically just makes it dirty. I made an SFT of this and tasted after a week and wasn't too impressed. Came back to it a couple months later and was very surprised how much I enjoyed it.

FYI numerous additional presses of the 'random recipe' button yielded garbage, but this is a nice change of pace from more authentic tobaccos. It's fine after 10 days, but tab blended get reeeeeally good after a few weeks.

Hopefully I'll have another recipe to post this month, waiting to see what INW Kent does after a few weeks.

It's a juicy, chilled berry... thing. Only done a couple of revisions on this one, but it works well IMO. Forest Fruit + Dragonfruit + Cactus are a tasty combo and will cut through the cooling effects enough to still be satisfying. Added Marshmallow + Cream for extra sweetness and body. I went with the Koolada + Polar Blast combo here because Polar on it's own is a bit weak/empty tasting.

Hey all. Started school a month back and needed an mtl vape for my low watts. Something that gave just enough flavor to satisfy but also keep me wanting more. Black Cherry for Pipe tastes more like a soda to me than a tobacco but I hardly notice ash anymore so I'm not a good gauge on that these days. It's like little bursts of musky cherry on mtl. Here's what has held me over for a hot second.

Mon Cherri 1-2-3

 1. FA Cherryl (Cherry, Black)
 2. INW Cherries
 3. INW Classic for Pipe (Black Cherry)

It's fairly dry so I've added a hint of fa pear for dtl, which sweetens it up a bit but doesn't change the straight cherry thing going on. I could easily see adding some fizz, liquor or some sweetness to make it more drink like than smoke like. I thought maybe to add blood orange champagne to make a more cherry mimosa type but never did since it already hits my spot just fine and probably would get lost in the mtl.

The Handsome Peach

They say that life's a peach...

|Flavor|Vendor|Mix %| |:-|:-|:-| |Peach|Inawera|6| |Juicy Peach|Capella|3| |Peach|Flavor Apprentice|2| |Orange|Dark Arts|1| |Sweetener (Optional)|Flavor Apprentice|0.25|

70% VG, 30% PG and 3% nicotine. Recommended steep time: 1 week, but works fine as a shake'n'vape.

What really gives this peach recipe it's magic is the Inawera peach as it lends a very authentic "real" peach taste. The juicy peach and flavor apprentice peach combine to give a hint of peach skin and flesh. A splash of orange flavoring takes the recipe further and gives it a little extra "pop" and zest without really giving a noticable orange taste to the recipe.

Overall I'd say this recipe makes an authentic tasting peach as opposed to a "candy" peach flavor and is an easy shake'n'daily vape.

So this is a remix of Broke Dick's Payday juice. I can't get it in the country I live in and after trying it I loved it and wanted to create my own mix of it. I saw this works quite well. Co. | Flavor | % ---|---|---- FW | Jungle Juice | 4 FA | Apple, Fuji | 3.5 FA | Forest Fruit | 1 TPA | Raspberry Sweet| .66 INW | Cactus | 0.5 INW | Raspberry (Malina)| .33

Total Flavouring = 9.9%

The Mount Baker Vapor Thug Juice flavour profile was the first flavour that I ordered multiple times. After getting deeper into DIY and trying out more refined recipes it became kind of nasty to vape, almost like soap or air freshener or something.

MBV's Thug Juice is supposedly just FW Jungle Juice @ 14% but this takes the total flavouring used to under 10% but this tastes (imo) fuller, more flavourful and more refreshing than the original.

To be honest, this recipe came about really slowly and it's not actually finished yet, I just added different flavours in different batches using the flavours I had. You can use 4-5% Jungle Juice and fill the other 5-6% of flavouring using any fruit and it still tastes amazing.

The best part is this recipe is so strong it works well in any device (perhaps not pod). I was vaping this MTL at 10 watts and it was still packed full of flavour.

FW Jungle Juice

This is definitely a hit or miss type flavour. It smells amazing but it is extremely powerful and the original @ 14% is probably too much. This is where most of the flavour comes from and all of the other flavours compliment it.

FA Apple, Fuji

Adds a little bit of tartness and a different kind of sweetness.

FA Forest Fruit

Also adds sweetness. Forest Fruit is a mix of different berries and only a small amount is needed for this recipe. It kind of adds a little bit of mouth feel.

TPA Raspberry Sweet + INW Raspberry (Malina)

These also add sweetness and wetness. The golden ratio of TPA:INW 2:1 works well here. The INW Raspberry is quite dark and the TPA Raspberry is sweet and they blend together perfectly.

INW Cactus

This adds on to the tartness/bite from the FA Apple, Fuji and also adds a bit of wetness and mouth feel. You can't go wrong with Cactus

I'm calling this "Bree". Why? Because while inhaling it tastes incredibly similar to smarties and this girl Bree in school loved smarties. After the inhale smarties phase it transitions into cream soda flavor, almost the exact same flavor as Jones clear cream soda.

That was literally my first diy juice and the TFA order got here first. Been vaping since 2013 and must have tried at least 200 flavors and this is only matched in quality as <2016 Honey Peary. I actually may never end up trying out any of the other recipes I planned since this is so good. oh, also that's with circa 60/40 vg/pg. Since I screwed up getting VG based nic and had to dilute it with PG just to be able to even use it, and since I did 30ml of 10% VG based nic with 30ml of PG per amber bottle, not quite sure how to calculate the exact ratio. 1.8ml/90mg nic per 15ml juice, whatever that is if you can do the math.

FA-Fuji-3%

FA-Soho-2%

TFA-Sweetner-0.5%

TFA-Marshmallow-1.5%

Cap-Vanilla Custard-4%

It has been a 7day steep and 70/30 VG/PG

The apple is spot on but the butterscotch needs work. I'm not sure if I should increase or decrease the butterscotch ripple.

Hi, I tried something similar after mixing apple bacco. I decided fw BR should not be so high and tried a few variations. This was my favorite out of the 3 or 4 i tried: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/share/93778acf-58e8-41eb-87ca-f8b710b5e4e1

I dont have soho but I think that's doing in there what holy holy is, adding tobacco sweetness. I think the CT Shade is a bit high at .75 and should probably be at 0.25 if used at all. It adds hints of cocoa and coffee. Burley to me is nutty so I added for that. To me, CAP VC is very thick and sweet, almost too much, so i tried to keep it down to 3 and not add too much else. Eventually I experimented with Vanilla Ruyan Custard and find it is a well suited tobacco custard pairing and I kept it a hair under 2 and boosted it with other sweetness. I have a completely off the wall version of an apple dessert I tried with tobaccos and it's up for review from Mixer's club. Hopefully I'll get some feedback and you can check it out.

Overworked in progress.

FW Kiwi @ 7%

VTA Sugarloaf Pineapple @ 3%

FA Pear @ 1.5%

FLV Candy Roll @ 0.5%

TPA Dragonfruit @ 0.5%

I'm not done with summer, even tho the weather outside says different. This is my take on a bright kiwi / pineapple blender. Going by my own mental vision on this one, FW Kiwi and FA Pear as the main layer. Bonus with the pear is the added juicyness, to the FW Kiwi's tart side. Sugarloaf Pineapple to break up the green scheme, never to reign supreme. Dragonfruit to meld some edges and Candy Roll to add that "sweethearts" vibe. I made another version with some marshmallow (any vendor) and shisha vanilla (INW), but afaik, that takes away from the candy roll, which also works a sweetner. Might just be better with just a slight hint of cotton candy as a plumper/mellower, at like 0.5%. Some lemon may also help brighten this up, tossup of preferences here :)

H2OBRY - Taffy Man Clone

Nic strength I used was 3mg

|Flavor|Manufacture|Percent| |:-|:-|:-| |Candy Watermelon|FW|4.00%| |Watermelon|LA|5.00%| |Berry Mix|TFA|2.00%| |Salt Water Taffy|FW|0.75%| |Super Sweet|CAP|Two drops per 10ml (about 0.25% give or take)|

If you don't like sweeteners use this version

|Flavor|Manufacture|%| |:-|:-|:-| |Watermelon|LA|4.75%| |Salt Water Taffy|FW|1.25%| |Berry Mix|TFA|2.25%| |Candy Watermelon|FW|4.00%| |Cactus Concentrate|INW|0.40%|

A few notes

If you want more taffy flavor don't got above 1.5% it will drown out all the other flavors. The highest I would honestly go is 1%

If you want a good blueberry taffy with light notes of watermelon add blueberry FW @ 1.25% and drop the watermelon down to 3.5%

If you want stronger notes of watermelon keep it at 5%

Its good, but the blueberry isn't really my thing. Its a hair to bitter for my tastes.

A nice sweet orange and peach with a little vanilla and creamy marshmallow.

Peachtrus

Fa Royal Orange Juice 3%

Wf Orange Juice 2%

Cap Sweet Tangerine 2%

Lb Peach 4%

Tpa Vanilla Swirl 2%

Fa Marshmallow 1%

Orange can be a booger , but this combo taste a lot like sweet oj.

Royal Orange is a good oj flavor , maybe a little bitter , but the others help it out. 3% is a good base to start with.

Wf Orange Juice gives us the sweetness , because it's loaded with sucralose , I wish it wasn't because it's a great oj flavor. I just prefer to add my own Sweetner. 2% though helps fill out and sweeten the Royal Orange.

Cap Sweet Tangerine is a great orange flavor and also sweet , so you shouldn't need any extra Sweetner , but that's up to you. It finishes off the oj.

Lb Peach is my favorite peach that isn't fa white peach. It's a lot like Tpa juicy peach , but not as harsh to me. So I can turn it up a bit.

Vanilla Swirl and Marshmallow give a nice creamy finish without dairy notes.

Can s&v , but 3 days is better for the peach to calm down , and the vanilla swirl to get right.

Potential Fantasi Grape Ice recipe

|Flavour|%| |:-|:-| |(INW) Cactus|0.3%| |(TPA) Dragonfruit|1%| |WS-23 (30%)|1%| |(FA) Polar Blast|1%| |(INW) Grape|2%| |(FLV) Grape|1%|

70% VG, 30% PG and 3% nicotine. Recommended steep time: TBC

I'm very new to this and haven't yet tried this. I've spent more time looking into concentrates and what their purposes are:

Cactus - To add depth and juiciness to the mix.

Dragonfruit - To pull it all together (though very unsure on what percentage).

Sweetener - To give extra sweetness (Though may not be needed. This will not be added to the first batch).

WS-23 - Blizzard to the chest.

(INW) Grape and (FLV) Grape - Having spent a fair bit of time looking into what concentrates to use, these had the most mentions. So I think these would be the best starters.

If it helps at all, this is the description of the E-Liquid from the fantasiliquids website:

Fantasi Grape Ice is inspired by the famous Fanta Grape Fizzy drink. Ultra delicious grape soda with a touch of ice. Trending in many countries worldwide! Try it today.

I'd love to hear your opinions on this!

EDIT 22/10/18 - I mixed the above last Tuesday, tried it this weekend and it’s nowhere close to Fantasi Grape Ice. Like miles off. The Grape concentrates I've used gives it more of a floral grape taste to it, rather than a super sweet candy like grape taste that the original has.

Flavors look good together; my one caution though is to me that appears to be a LOT of grape. Both those grapes to my understanding are very strong though I don't have the FLV, but you may be able to drop it to INW 2; FLV 1?

I appreciate your feedback. I'll be sure to start off low on the grape. This is just an estimate based off of what I've read about these concentrates. I'm yet to try them out myself. I probably should have started with an easier recipe as my first "clone" attempt haha.

INW Grape at 4% is strong Purple flavor. FLV Grape is supposed to also be Purple. So really, using both seems like overkill. 3% INW Grapes is probably enough. The Purple flavor is pretty sweet, too... so you may not need sweetener on a first try. And personally, I'd go with CAP Hibiscus in place of TFA Dragonfruit, but that's just personal bias. 2% would be about right if you make the sub. And you really should go with 1% FA Polar Blast and 1% WS-23. Better cooling.

Thank you for your feedback. @mixmintress has also said I may be able to drop the total Grape flavour down to 3%. I'll edit this on the post for future reference. I'll try different combinations and will be sure to start off on the low side. I've seen CAP Hibiscus pop up a few times, I'll have to note that one down. No such thing as too many notes. If I were to sub this, what percentage of Dragonfruit is the 2% Hibiscus a sub for? I have been considering trying a mixture of cooling additives, as I seen a lot of people saying the effect of ws-23 seems to fade over time. Apparently mixing another with it, keeps it more consistent. A lot of helpful advice here!

Tbh I'm not really sure. I don't have (or ever had) dragonfruit. 2% is the high side for hibiscus as emulsifier, but it also gives a more syrupy feel, which works well with the cactus wetness. The reason for blending the cooling agents is to get cold from beginning to end, not just up front.
