Is my Flavour Art custard ok?
submitted about 7 years ago by dillycrawdaddy

So I just got this from nicriver. Seems really dark to me. Smells ok and tastes a little like custard, a little lemony, and very slightly bitter. I have never used this flavor before, and I’m pretty new to this.

Is this normal?

Yup. FA Custard is dark and does have a lemon zest to it (for me lessens with steep) which apparently is a more european/Italian style custard.

Jeeze, that looks like sludge. I'd have been worried too - I'm glad you asked so that I don't eventually have to. :)

Flavour art custard is always ok :)) Ultimately that's going to be a useful purchase. I've just started mixing (4Months) and I started with TPA and FW Bavarian cream, CAP creamy yoghurt, FA fresh cream and TPA sweetener all in 4oz along with around 35 10ml FA of my choice. I did a lot of research before though so the 4oz bottles were all good buys and I knew I was going to mix a lot of creams. I'm just about to pull the plug on the entire FA range bar a few......you have to learn from experience I guess. :))

Er... you're new to this, and buying a 2oz bottle of flavor? Or is that 1oz?

Either way, best to order sample size (10-15ml) bottles first time.

That’s a nice backhandedly condescending, mildly helpful comment there.

I’d agree there’s a nicer, longer way to say what he said, but he wasn’t wrong and it opened the door for you to learn something which you could have just as easily as responding with a “why do you say that?” Rather than, “why say it like that?”

Again, point being getting two more custards to try would have been potentially more useful than lots of one that could be not the slightly bitter lemony dark one you got. An example is inw custard known here for a shorter steep time than other custards.

This is a great place with loads of information delivered in all kinds of ways. #teampositivity and Happy mixing!

I do appreciate how helpful this sub has been for me. Most are very willing to help new mixers in a constructive way. I have noticed that the other commenter here seems to be pretty condescending in a lot of posts/comments though. Thank you for your insight, and you both have a good point about buying small amounts at first.

I do sort of wish I had done that with my first order, but I also wanted to hit that free shipping for the nicotine. So there are trade offs. I bought this much of this particular custard for a certain recipe that I plan on making quite a lot of. Big fan of #teampositivity and try to remain such myself. Happy mixing and vaping to you as well!

Doesn't make it untrue. Most people won't go through that much of a single flavor in a year.

That may very well be true. My comment was an attempt to bring to light the fact that one doesn’t have to be negative in their attempt to help someone. It was only $1 more to go from 15ml to 2oz so why not?
