First a thank you and then a question (New DIY guy here)
submitted about 7 years ago by cainula

First of all I just wanted to say thank you to this community for first piquing my interest in DIY mixing then convincing me to give it a try and then providing so many resources for getting my kit together and making my first order. Without all that, mixing would have just been another thing that I would occasionally think about trying then immediately forget about.

I have my scale, my bottles and my nicotine. My first flavor order will be here tomorrow so this leads me to my question.

For my first order I literally just went down the list of the "My First Order" Flavors link on the side bar.

(This list TFA STRAWBERRY RIPE TFA DRAGON FRUIT TFA BAVARIAN CREAM TFA VANILLA SWIRL TFA STRAWBERRY TFA VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM CAP VANILLA CUSTARD TFA CHEESECAKE GRAHAM CRUST TFA MARSHMALLOW FA FUJI FA CREAM FRESH TFA RASPBERRY SWEET CAP SUGAR COOKIE INW CACTUS LA LEMONADE FA LEMON SICILY CAP SWEET STRAWBERRY FA MERINGUE FA FOREST FRUIT LA WATERMELON (COLORLESS) LA BANANA CREAM CAP CINNAMON DANISH SWIRL CAP NEW YORK CHEESECAKE TFA JUICY PEACH CAP GRAHAM CRACKER TFA PEAR FA WHITE PEACH FA KIWI TFA BANANA CREAM TFA PINEAPPLE CAP GOLDEN PINEAPPLE)

I was hoping some of the more experienced mixers could look over the list and let me know of any obvious omissions. Like "Oh if you just add TFA X and CAP Y you could make these awesome juices".

Sorry if this counts as a low effort post. I really just wanted to introduce myself and say thank you all for the help you've already given me while I lurked. If any of the veterans can help me out further that would be great.

> . . . and let me know of any obvious omissions

That all depends on what you're trying to do. If you're a fan of tobacco, you have ZERO to help you. If you want to make a simple juice that's tasty - you have everything you need. You're missing a lot if you're trying to amass the worlds largest flavor collection. If you're trying to make a few of the top rated recipes, you need a handful of extra flavors. So what you need to do is define what you're after. It's been said here sooooooooo many times - but it always needs to be restated . . .

Find recipes that you like and buy the flavors to make them!

I would recommend finding recipes that you would like and then ordering the proper flavors. Trust me, youll save money this way. Pick maybe 5-10 recipes you like then get the necessary flavors. If recipes require bigger percentages for certain flavors, get a big bottle of that specific flavor.

Flavors you're missing?

Well....
INW Grape, Raspberry, Lemon Mix
FA Polar Blast
WS-23
LA CCI
VT Fizzy Sherbet, Bourbon, Scotch...

Really, there's a large number of flavors you don't have in that list. A very large number.

Now, assuming you don't want to get into tobaccos, and florals scare you, you're left with beverages, fruits, candies, custards/creams, and baked goods. Knowing where you want to start specializing is important to knowing what to suggest to you.

Don't forget about CAP Sweet Mango, I know how much you like that.

He also doesn't have TFA Honey.

I was sticking to non-vomit-inducing flavors.

Here’s a little recipe for you to try. I use it a lot and love it. It’s simple but very flavorful. It’s great for a shake and vape but gets even better with a 1 week steep:

•Strawberry ripe (TPA) 4%

•Sweet Strawberry (CAP) 3%

•Vanilla Custard V1 (CAP) 5%

I also recently added Flavorah Mango at 2% to create a mango and strawberry custard. It turned out well. Highly recommend Flavorah Mango in the future if you like mango, especially ripe mango.

Welcome to the DIY world. It’s a great adventure. :)

I don't have the vanilla custard, do you think VBIC could work too?

It would def work. It’ll change the flavor profile from custard to a strawberries and cream, though. Try VBIC and see how you like it. Maybe shoot for about 8%. There’s a really well known recipe called Mustard Milk that’s just TFA Strawberry at 6% and VBIC at 8% so adding VBIC to the strawberry ripe and strawberry sweet should work just fine here.

I have about 2/3 of these.

Might want to swap Raspberry to INW. Stuff is amazing. So is FA Pear, you may want to swap vendors unless it's already enroute

TFA Juicy Peach has remained a 16oz bottle for 2 years. Can't get a nice mix or avoid the nasty harshness.

TFA Apricot can be similar, except it pairs at 1% marvelously well with TFA Pineapple for my 'whip' recipe. Add FA Fresh Cream, FA Pear for juiciness and depth and a little shot of Bavarian Cream. (White Tiger mix)

Mentioned a few other places, but I love TFA Grape Juice. Mix at 7-8% with 2% Fuji and 2% Dragonfruit. One of my top favorites among friends.

You got all the makings for a good strawberry milkshake. Although some find Ripe to be missing an element. Don't own a second.

That Danish is solid in its own right. I add 1% red hots to give a neat exhale.

Missing: TFA: Acetyl Pyrazine, Brown Sugar

FW Candy Cane & Salted Carmel are good

And perhaps steviol glycosides. Avoid anything with buffers like dextrose and crap. You may like a few drops per cup.

EM and menthol crystals can come in handy for some mixes

You're welcome. I hadn't done any special orders for over a year. Recently ordered $700 of flavors, PG and a 25kg of glycerin.

Last month my place has looked like a lab. So much fun. Just shipped 8L of awesomeness for my jump to the bigtime

Nice, you have 5 of 6 flavors I used as ADV for like 2 years.

Cheesecake Gram Crust 3%

Marshmallow 2%

Sugar cookie 6%

Vanilla Bean ice cream 3%

Vanilla custard 2%

FA Joy .75%

I didn't have FA joy for a long time and would substitute things like cake batter or vanilla swirl but you could always experiment for that one, hard to go wrong cause it's only .75%. Joy is good as fuck though. I think the actual flavor is some kind of frosting.

I ended up switching to nic salts and going MTL and that recipe didn't translate well so I mixed up 3 different strawberries I had with a little sweet cream and sweetener and that worked.

E-liquid-recipes.com(sorry I didn't link it-im on mobile) has a tab you can input the flavors you have, called "my stash" and you can click "what can I make" or something like that and it'll only give you recipes you can make with your flavors. That was helpful as fuck for me. You should be pretty set, you have good stuff.

Anyways, congrats on switching to DIY. You made the right choice. Oh, as a side note, everything I make I just shake and vape and that's never been a problem for me. Good luck
