Flavor of the Week Asks: What's the crème de la crème of Creams?
submitted about 7 years ago by ID10-TWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!

Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.

#Last week we explored International Creams with a Creamy Tour of Europe.

This week we come home.

#This week's flavor is... Domestic Creams!!!

(Sweet Cream, Fresh Cream, and just plain Cream)

How did that get to be the FOTW?

It was requested. If you're not interested in this FOTW, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

Past FOTW posts can be found here

The NOTED podcasts, which are bascially video FOTWs, are listed on this sheet, maintained by /u/apexified

Next week's flavor will be: Kiwi

The week after that will be: Butterscotch

The week after that will be: Nougat

The week after that will be: White Chocolate

The week after that will be: Chocolate

The week after that will be: Pecan

The week after that will be: Florals

The week after that will be: Ice Cream

The week after that will be: Herbs

The week after that will be: Tropical Punch/Tropical Blends

The week after that will be: Mixed/Weird Berries

The week after that will be: Root Beer

The week after that will be: Blueberry

The week after that will be: Savory

The week after that will be: Tea

ooo Cream Milky Undertones is quickly becoming my most used milk flavor.

FLV Cream is amazing for body and thickness, adds creaminess and some dairy.

PUR Caramel Coffee w/ Sweet Milk - Absolutely hands down my favorite coffee flavor. Make a banging Caramel Macchiato with this and VT Coffee Milk Froth.

Creams are my jam. I could keep going for hours with this list...

How is that 'domestic'?

A domestic cream with an international flavor added to it.

Flv cream has become my favorite. Lb cream isn't bad. Fa Fresh Cream is a staple. Wf vanilla cream extra is also becoming a favorite.

>WF Vanilla Cream Extra

+10 zillion?! Just tried to gain knowledge but there's no Flavor Review here for this one! Do you use it for all your cream recipes now? Does it replace things like INW Shisha Vanilla too? Is it a 10/10 must get? I'm making up a shopping cart now as I've just found a place that sells it in Australia. Can you recommend any other WF flavors that are good? I have zero at the moment.

WF Vanilla Cream Extra is bonkers. Bright vanilla, imo brighter than shisha and thicker. Been loving it in my milkshake and frosting bases.

WF to check out that I've truly enjoyed are as follows.

Vanilla Cream Extra

Croissant

Glazed Donut

Peach Pie and Cream (so good)

I use these all pretty regularly.

Starfruit is also good. Just a bit different but it's been finding it's way into some of my fruit mixes.

Yes vanilla cream extra is great. Ruyan custard is really good if you like an ry4 type.

Black Cherry Jellybean

Caramel Butter

(I need to go through my collection and see what else I might have. I'm pretty sure I didn't test it, but I think I have their grenadine...)

Well, I’ve been finally trying all the Ooo creams I have and I’ll do my best to give you the 411 but I really suck at this but here goes 😂😩... likes- cream bouquet 3% it’s lovely and sweet and almost taste like the inside of a 50/50 bar. I’m sorry I don’t know a top note from a bottom note and I can’t even tell u about mouthfeel, idk y but I just can’t. Then there’s cream I and cream II and sweet cream and vanilla cream. I tested all at 3% , I like the Bavarian cream and the flan and Irish cream is ok.. I’m going to check those creams again in case they needed a longer steep and I’ll update this if I all of a sudden develop better tasting skills ... Update... after a week steep these flavors a lot better. Cream I is a very nice I’m going say full vape. It still tastes a little sweet but maybe it’s my imagination. I can see this working where a Cream is needed. Cream II- I myself can’t tell a difference from the other ones, lol, and I’m sorry I know this isn’t very helpful but had their been any other info on them I wouldn’t have bothered w my little almost useless bits. But, Ooo does ok in the dairy/ cream/ desserts categories imo... so might be worthwhile if anyone interested. Bottom line they all taste about the same to me 😩😂 except the vanilla cream and I don’t care for that one it tastes dirty.

I do have a huge problem, I do have miss scream, sweet cream, praline and cream, Bavarian cream, and I do not find a way to make the cream tasty :/ it's always muted, even if I do stay around 4-7% flavor maximum with cream being around 2 3 % maximum generally, it's just not good :/

Any advice? Which cream is the best in your opinion? Do I have to buy another? At what % do you use it? With what does it mix well? Biscuit, honey, fruit, cereal? Chocolate? I really dunno :/

TFA Bavarian Cream mutes mixes. I have almost stopped using it altogether. I only use it now specifically to mute if a mix is angry/harsh.

>Any advice? Which cream is the best in your opinion?

  • OoO Milky Undertones
  • FLV Cream
  • FA Cream Fresh
  • WF Vanilla Cream Extra (obv this one's a vanilla cream)

Edit: don't forget that creams need a steep (most need at least a week, preferably 2 weeks).

>With what does it mix well? Biscuit, honey, fruit, cereal? Chocolate?

Creams go with just about anything.

INW Chocolate Cream. Because chocolate is better than vanilla. By definition.

You have that chocolate cream juthinc? It’s good?

I've also wondered if INW Chocolate cream is good.

How is that flavour since Inawera fucked up their milk chocolate? I have a feeling that would have changed too.

Y'know, I'm not sure now... I sorta assumed that since Chocolate Cream was more of a hazelnut cream with cocoa, that the change to Milk Chocolate wouldn't affect it.
