NETs and international legality (specifically Australia)
submitted about 7 years ago by tobacco-joe

Hey all, I've been getting into experimenting with tobacco flavours a lot recently and diving deeper into different concentrates. So far I haven't tried using any NETs, but I'm very curious.

Being Australian, my biggest concern with NETs is whether or not I can import them? I order my concentrates internationally and try to pile my orders together to save on shipping, and I would be gutted if I had an entire order seized because I chucked a few NETs into it.

Have any Australians had any experience importing them? And can juice containing NETs be sold here? I sell some juice at cost price to a bunch of mates, and would like to be aware of whether or not I'm risking anything serious if I try some recipes with NETs.

Thanks for any help, you lot are the best.

I failed repeatedly at googling NETs, so in case someone else like me is wondering what that is, here's an article describing them.

Don't know much about Australian law, I'm afraid, except that what you're doing (for personal use - lets leave your mates out of this) is legal everywhere except Queensland last I heard. Selling it in a shop would apparently be illegal anywhere in Australia. The real question would be whether or not you'd ordered enough liquid nicotine at once to make whichever customs official that happens to inspect your package think you're intending to distribute it. You could always contact customs and find out what their policy about this is, but I'm not sure if that'd be helpful or if it'd put you on a list.

I always keep my nic order separate to concentrates just to be careful, so I'm probably safe on that front. I had a feeling the situation would be something like this though. I've seen Victory Vape sell Black Note, which are NET juices, which made me question my intuition about them being illegal to sell.

At the end of the day, I think I'm fine to try them for myself, and I'll just have to keep in mind passing any on to others could land me in hot water. Thanks for taking the time to help!

Are you able to buy pipe tobacco at a reasonable price there? NETs are crazy cheap to make yourself.

Australia is the most expensive place on Earth to buy any form of tobacco. And our Federal Minister for Health also hates vaping... The Hon Greg 'not on my watch' Hunt MP.

Sounds like a real son of a bitch.

With a 50g tin of pipe tobacco you can get about 200 ml of NET, so about 2 liters of finished juice. Is the tobacco there so expensive it makes it still worth it to import a 30 ml of NET concentrate?

I just checked - a 40g pouch of Winfield Blue Roll Your Own Tobacco is currently $56.95. This is from a major supermarket here in Australia, and a very average tobacco. So happy my last smoke was 1 year and 3 days ago.

Nicotine in Australia is an interesting thing. Its a schedule 7 controlled substance which means its fairly illegal (comparable to heroin legally speaking for whatever reason). However, state and federal laws contradict each other to some degree. For instance, in Tasmania its legal to import and right up until I take it out of my letterbox it remains legal. Once I have taken possession of it though, I could theoretically be fined $10,000 or jailed for up to 7 years. With that said, nobody has ever been fined or jailed for nicotine possession in relation to vaping. NET liquids are the same as importing nicotine. 99% of the time it will be completely fine. It would really only be problematic if it is leaking and they have to bin the package or open it as a result of the leak.
tldr; go for your life.

> I order my concentrates internationally

Off topic: just curious why you do this? Do you know about SydneyVapour / JuiceFactory / VapourEyes etc? Is it because you also source your nic in the same order?

Mostly because it actually works out cheaper. I'll often grab a few concentrates from places like Vapoureyes when I'm buying other stuff, but I'll mostly go somewhere like Bull City to buy stuff in 4oz bottles then load up the cart with 10ml samples which barely shift the shipping.

I always get my nic from VE in NZ though. I prefer to keep my nic order separate from concentrates, just to be on the safe side.

none of them stocks net.

I have seen that the steamery is selling some australian net juice. But I am sceptical about the quality...all their tobacco juices suck.

I order concentrates regulary from Naturalyextractedtobacco.com...and i am expecting a delivery from stixmixx.

They are the best.

No problem in regards of the law...regulary order 1l flavourless juice from social- lites international.

again no problems. I have ordered some from the Uk...but to me they did did not appear NET.

I am very suspicious of australian made net. where are they getting their tobacco leaves from?

Check it out:)

NETs are very expensive and when u add the postage it is quite a sum.

Is it it worth it? yes.

I give myself a treat from time to time.
