Four Coco
submitted about 7 years ago by xGRANITExSilky

I've been delving into tobacco's. So far I have no idea what I'm doing. But, one thing I do know pretty well is desserts. So I figured I would start with the most non intrusive tobacco I could think of. RY4. I eye Holy Grail RY4 by DIYFS every time I re-up on Holy Vanilla or see mentions of Cardinal, and I finally bit the bullet a few weeks ago. Here is my first tobacco recipe that I can say is super tasty.

Four Coco

Flavor Co.|Flavor|% :--|:--:|--: DIYFS|Holy Grail RY4|8 FA|Coconut|0.75 FW|Graham Cracker|3 FLV|Sweet Coconut|1.75

Total % 12.5 /// Steep Time 14+ Days

It's good as a SnV too, just gets better over time

Holy Grail RY4 as I'm sure most of you know, is thick and creamy. Delicious sweet tones of caramel and vanilla really serve as the backbone for this recipe. It has a touch of tobacco that peaks out every now and again that plays well with others. I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this concentrate, I can see it serving as a main caramel note with out much fuss in tons of other recipes. I will definitely be keeping this stocked!

The Coconuts:

This combo has never steered me wrong. I first saw it used in Leche de Coco. FA Coconut is a nice creamy coconut, much like the meaty part of the fruit, that serves as an accent to our main coconut note. This stuff is super tasty and finds it's way into a lot of my recipes when I want a little nuance and added creaminess. FLV Sweet Coconut is hands down my favorite coconut flavoring. It's an amazing start to any recipe where you want a milky and smooth coconut taste. It almost gives off a coconut candy vibe, but really meshes well with caramel to add some silkiness and vibrance. Coconuts and caramel are a match made in heaven.

Body time. I think I use FW Graham Cracker too much. It's my favorite GC for sure. It's crunchy and buttery. It has some honey. It tastes cookie-like, and after a nice long steep it has some coconut tones. Seemed like a no brainer.

I wanted to keep this recipe simple. It ended up being far more complex taste wise than I anticipated.

It's like a graham cracker dipped in milky, coconut infused caramel. Sometimes I get the tobacco. Sometimes not. Either way it's staying in my rotation, a definite winner in my book. Enjoy!

After re-testing and feedback, I have changed FW Graham Cracker from 2% to 3%.

Incredible name. I ordered FW Graham Cracker recently, so I’ll mix this up today and give you my thoughts! HHG RY4 is one of my absolute favorites, and I’m glad you finally got around to trying it out. I look forward to your other creations with it too!

I think you will really like fw graham cracker, it is way more authentic than tfa's variant.

I'm hard pressed, when using a graham cracker, to use a better one in most recipes. It occasionally happens but not frequently.

It’s so delicious! The graham cracker is still pretty subtle behind the coconut and RY4, but I’m sure it will come through after it’s steeped a bit. You were right about how well it meshes.

Nice one. I’ve been trying to bend the nuttier tasting tobaccos I have with that same leche de coco ratio and I feel it easily gets over powered. It’s a slow process over here with both tobaccos and creams needing such a steep. Looking forward to see where you go with these!

I'll keep this in mind , I definitely get coco from this recipe but maybe it would benefit from some more umph percentage wise.

Looks good man. Most everything with holy Grail RY4 turns out decent. HS RY4 is also pretty solid, and nutty, worth checking out. I made a cardinal inspired juice with DIYFS Holy Grail, HS Ry4, and some nets

Holy crap /u/xGRANITEx this is your recipe?! Ok, so I reviewed the recipe on ATF, but I love this. I mentioned it on Fresh's Saturday show, and /u/ConcreteRiver mixed his own spin off due to not having holy grail. This has become my first ADV, no shit. Something about this combo is amazing. I will paste my review here as well for future people!

Let me start off by saying this is amazing. I loved this stuff from the day I made it, had trouble wanting to let it sit for your steep time. If this is your first tobacco I would say holy grail is a good choice for several reasons. First, it’s not really a tobacco, but an amazing caramel and vanilla. If you wanted to add a hint of tobacco I would suggest .25% of either red burley or cured from FLV. That’s not to put this down at all as holy grail has a slight slight hint, but it gets too covered up. The coconut pairing is one of my favorite as well and it shines here with the other flavors. It has a great flavor and lends a hint of creaminess to the mix which is amazing. I would have to agree with @AlfredPudding in that the graham cracker seems to fall under in the steep. I can taste the spice a little bit, but would prefer a hint more. For my personal taste I think I’ll bump it to 3%. I suggest many people who like this profile to mix this up.

Yes I've been really enjoying it as well! I'm glad you like it. I'm still thinking this has to be a preliminary version. I've been playing with different bakeries and percentages subbed in for the fw graham cracker, but that coconut and caramel sure is tasty.

I'd love to see freshs show I've not delved his series. Can I get a link to check it out?

Thanks for the feedback!

Sidenote:

/u/concreteriver needs to get holy holy Grail RY4!

Here is the link to the show that I mentioned this on. Ya, the coconut and the caramel just taste good together with the graham cracker. I was thinking of playing with a few other ry4 types as well, for shits and giggles. But this for some reason, is just good haha.

I broke into the version with 3% fw gc.

You're right, it's better! Thanks for the criticism that's the type of thing I look for an appreciate. Just trying to elevate my recipes!
