What bottles do you use for travel?
submitted about 7 years ago by FullerAwesome

Probably overthinking this but chubby gorillas etc only seem to get 2 or 3 uses before needing to be replaced. Can anyone recommend bottles for repeated use?

LDPE Unicorn bottles from Amazon (I buy 510 Brand) last forever. Rough guess, but I have some that are at least in the 40 use range. Maybe even more.

I use the more squat ones (510 brand as well) usually but they definitely allow for a large number of reuses before you have to worry about the tip not fitting well.

I'm also using the 510 brand bottles, 10ml and 30ml Boston Round type. Every morning I fill the same two 10ml bottles for daily carry and they've lasted all summer.

If you really want to use bottles repeatedly then you should consider glass bottles.

While extremely durable and easy to clean, they’re not exactly travel safe. Even if you’d wrapped them in towels etc., I would still be afraid they would break.

I fill up the rounded 120mL PET bottles, and use 30mL LDPE bottles for daily carry.

I would get a couple of the flasks that’s what those things are made for

Glass for storage of bulk and long steeping juice so I only sometimes carry glass around the rest are nice, squishy LDPE bottles. A couple of my bottom fed mods use these exact bottles and I have some that are 3 years old. They make unicorns in various sizes like this. I hate that hard, cracking plastic and Chubby bottles are even worse IMO because of the caps.

I should note that I almost always have a bag with me and keep my juices in a dedicated pocket as well as cotton, wire, mod, extra batteries, etc and I usually use a BF mod when I'm going out so you have to take that into account.

Reused "unicorn" bottles (or any plastic bottle with a dripper works... I just have a growing collection of 60ml unicorn bottles. Absolutely no glass tho.)

Honestly, this is a good excuse to try some premium eLiquids from your local B&M. You get to taste what the professionals are mixing (for inspiration or whatever) and you get a spare bottle you can wash out and use for your own mixes.

What happens to your chubby gorillas? I just started using them

Difficult to get the tip out. These are basically one-use bottles.

Oh yeah so hard to get the tip off. I gotta pry it off with my keys

I use a pocket knife or box cutter. Once I get the tip of the blade between the bottle and top, I wiggle the handle up and down. They come out pretty easy after practicing a few times.

As others have said, the caps are a pain to get off but as they get used repeatedly, the plastic crinkles in the middle making getting the last 20ml or so difficult.

Damn. They look so cool though :(

I like the two ounce twist-top bottles I got from NicRiver.

30ml unicorn bottles are fine but I prefer to mix 30-50ml batches in 60ml unicorn bottles to easily agitate. Gorilla bottles are fine but I prefer the generic 60ml unicorn bottles with the fine tips. Gorilla bottles are fine but the opening isn't as large and it's slightly tougher to fill rapidly.

Thanks everyone, I think the flask might be the way forward.

Problem with my chubby gorillas is the dropper top seems to wear out/loosen up fast and then go shooting off the bottle when under pressure, squirting liquid everywhere. I hate them for that.

I have 30 ml PET bottles I got from Vape Wild in 2015 that are still in daily use. Other than a crease around their middles, they're solid and refuse to leak. Also have the same style HDPE, caps and droppers are interchangeable. Only slight grievance is sometimes the dropper tops are a little hard to pull off, but that's also good as it means they stay put and don't leak. I've yet to have this style of bottle fail on me, but after a couple years the dropper tips start to stretch out and deform from being pulled on.
