Title may be a little misleading... when mixing my juices I’m getting good flavour from my Augvape Merlin mini, but I don’t think I’m getting the most out of it. I read a review on here for sadlads toast and the guy used different tanks and got different results with flavours anyways... I dropped my tank smashed the glass and ordered a Kylin Mini, I thought they where supposed to be the dogs nadgers for flavour, they really aren’t!!! So I’m looking to get a new tank, pref a rta single coil.
Any suggestions? What are you guys and girls testing your recipes or flavours on?
I've always been a single coil guy and the Serpent Mini (not SMM) and Siren v2 GTA were my favorites, even over the popular but overrated Kayfun V5. I haven't got a tank in ages or been keeping up but the Serpent mini will always stand the test of time.
I've been using both of those for some time now and am pleased with both, especially the Siren 2. I haven't kept up either; guess I'm over my shiny-itus and now just concentrate on juice.
It got the point where tanks finally caught up to almost the performance of RDA's and you can't dramatically improve or have a game changer due to the design and limitations of a tank or even RDTA compared to a true RDA which will always be superior for flavor.
Taifun GT2, Serpent Mini, Crius 2, Siren 2 -- I was finally content with tanks and went down the RDA route that for some reason, besides the velocity and others back in the day, avoided.
So I got the Wasp Nano, Hadaly, Entheon with the Hadeon cap and it was game over. RDA's are the way to go but they are suffering the same fate as tanks now with all the 22mm single coil flavor RDA's pretty much all the same with most basically the same with just a minor tweak here or there, nothing big.
I think we kind of hit a wall now to the point where pretty much all the top ones are so minor you won't notice but with the industry's growth moving at light speed I'm sure in 1 1/2 years it will be totally different.
I love my mini. What position do you keep your coil over the airflow?
I use these for testing new recipes. I have two sets, one drilled to 0.95mm and one to 1.75 and I can test for mtl and restricted lung hits. These are good enough to try a bunch of different alterations at a time. You get better flavor from most other drippers but the flavor is accurate
Hello there, it would seem that you read my review of Sadlad Toast Crunch! Thank you for that. For a single coil RTA that will allow you to pick up different nuances, I recommend the Revolver RTA. You can tweak the airflow inside and outside of the atomizer.
I'd probably recommend the Hadaly, entheon with the Hadaly cap (hadeon), and the basic RDA. I get even better flavor than the hadeon on my basic RDA, and it's even harder to leak or over drip on it.
I have the wasp nano and it's not bad, but I find there is way too much airflow
I wouldn't mind a bit of extra airflow for my Hadaly, and a bit less leaking...
The basic has probably around the same airflow as the Hadaly, but it's next to impossible for it to leak, you have to flip it upside down and hold it there after you've over dripped for it to leak. I think the Entheon is probably the way to go, it leaks less than the Hadaly and has more airflow
RTAs are great, and I can give you recommendations for single coil tanks, but you don't test on those. They're tanks. You need to get an RDA.
To be fair, I think if you primarily vape on an rta it doesnt hurt to test on that rta.
Its a hassle if your are testing multiple mixes at a time. It's pretty unrealistic to do so, especially when you need to constantly rewick.
Welcome the RTA recommendation please! And a rda too.
I use an OBS Crius 2. It's real easy to wick. Practically brainless actually.
As for RDAs, I use a Narda Clone, Wasp Nano, and the Recurve for squonking.
I'm a fan of the Wasp Nano too - both the RDA and the RDTA. The Wasp is single coil and dirt cheap. Having both gives you three options . . .
-
Small - the RDA
-
Medium - the RDTA (2ml tank)
-
Large - the RDA with a Squonker
Using any of these setups gives you the exact same performance - the only difference is how long between refills. So your testing and vaping are the same.
I could never vape just one flavor all day (Flavor ADD - grin ) - so the RDTA works great for me. I usually have 5 of them loaded with 5 different flavors and constantly switch between them.
Its not the go-to recommendation for most people but i still stand by the hotcig centaur rta for a small single coil flavor tank. The airflow design is incredible, and it just performs spectacularly with any build ive dropped in it. The flavor is super clean, dense and a good balance between the base notes and top notes. Its really enjoyable.
