This is part of project I agreed to take on after it was pointed out that so many of the resources in sidebar and wiki are ancient. The idea is, rather than revising them myself, I'd post them here once per week to gather feedback on how to improve them. They belong to all of us, everyone should have a say in what they say.
Many people learn better by listening and watching than by reading. The Beginner's Guide currently has a link for "Video on Getting Started" that takes you to THIS VIDEO. It's a high-quality video worth watching for New Amsterdam Vapes' golden voice alone, and the DIY community owes him a thank you for putting it out. That thing has 1.6 MILLION views. Wowzers!
But maybe it's a bit dated now? It's from 2015. There's no mention of a scale and there's some hot water bath and breathing nonsense.
#Please post links to newer videos that introduce the very basics of DIY to people who've never mixed before.
I'll watch them and create a list of them with brief introductions for each so the Beginner's Guide can have a selection of videos on getting started in DIY to choose from, instead of only the one old option. Thank you!

The New Amsterdam Vape link says Liquid Barn Starter kit but is actually for the Nicotine River Starter kit: Here's his video about the Liquid Barn Starter kit and the one about Liquid Barn's Basic E-Liquid reverse short-fill things
I've never seen that short fill bottle. Does anyone have any experience using that?
Well I, for one, like this idea. I'm so new to DIY mixing that my supplies will arrive today after I get off work. I am literate and read everything I can find on the subject but I also like to see it on video as well. Videos were especially helpful when I started building coils also. I love this community, it's helped me immensely. So thank you to all who take the time to write or do videos on the various topics of interest, it's much appreciated.
Fresh is an excellent teacher watching him is how i got my start in DIY
He really is and his shows (the ones I've seen, too many to watch them all) are all a mix of informative and fun. Do you know if he has one that's like "Thinking about mixing your own juice? Watch this first" or something along those lines? That's what we're looking for. Videos that will help someone who has never mixed a drop of juice wrap their head around what DIY ejuice is.
Yeah the very first Fresh From the Kitchen Episode shows what he recommends to buy to start mixing and what recipes he recommends for beginners
As a joke or rather as a "how not to" you could include the video of that one guy mixing the ""award winning"" "panty dropper" in his garage.
That video was hilarious to watch.
I'm going to need a link for that please. I could use a good laugh today.
I’m assuming it’s this.
New Amsterdam Vape has a good video on
mixing by weight.
It's the video that started me on diy juice. Though again it is from 2015 I don't recall in info that could be considered dated.
I think This video by New Amsterdam Vape is much better - and covers all the bases for a beginner.

Won't get in the drama but he was one of the best and a wealth of info on his channel.
Meh.
Videos are pretty useless. They take longer to watch than to read the same amount of info, they're a hassle to try to scan through to look up the piece of info you remember being there but need the details of, there's just not much point unless you're illiterate, in which case LEARN TO READ.
Say what you will but that new Amsterdam video was what made me think I could mix. And I’m 45. I found that first before elr, ecr, diy-ejuice. When I saw dude just dripping that stuff in I was like oh hells naw. I’m doing this shit!
Videos are good. Yeah I read. Yes I’m literate. But fuck yeah I’d love to SEE how easy it is. Especially if I’m on the fence about trying something. YouTube is ubiquitous. I learned how to sew, play songs, swim strokes, and provide cunniligus from YouTube. YouTube is my father and mother and that dirty uncle who slipped me my first porno mag all wrapped into one. YouTube raised me.
I learn better by reading too and have little use for videos because I simply don’t retain the info as well that way. But I think we’re outnumbered, maybe not on Reddit but at least in the general population.
People’s brains are hardwired to have different learning styles and for people who learn better by watching videos or listening to someone speak, videos are definitely not useless.
I think we're outnumbered by millenials who aren't very good at reading and would rather just sit and watch something 20 or thirty times than put a tiny bit of effort into reading.
