Introduction
This is a simple review of a recipe I found on AllTheFlavors called 'The Best Damm Strawberry', by MattyWill. It was the fourth recipe I found and decided to try mixing. I started my mixing journey with recipes from AllTheFlavors based on recommendations here, and have yet to be disappointed. So far I've mixed two batches for myself, and one for a friend.
The Recipe
- CAP - Juicy Lemon : 2%
- TPA - Strawberry (Ripe) : 1%
- CAP - Strawberry Taffy : 2%
- CAP - Super Sweet : 0.5%
- CAP - Sweet Strawberry : 4%
- FA - Vienna Cream : 1%
- Steep Time: ~3 Days
- Recommended VG Ratio: 90 vg / 10 pg
The Mix
I used PureNic, VG, PG and all Flavors purchased from NicotineRiver for my mixing. I used the E-Juice Lab app on Android for all calculations/measurements (though the Mix feature of AllTheFlavors could certainly do the job), and measured everything by grams on an AWS LB-501 scale. I also mix at 6mg for DTL vaping, for both my wife and I.
I've only been mixing for approximately two months. I started by finding recipes to mix, and had some success. My first recipe was 8 flavors plus base, vg and pg. This one was certainly easier to mix. Ultimately I don't feel flavors are as much a measure of difficulty as it is patience, and possibly a sore back as you hunch over a table. That said, I'd rate this at an intermediate skill level to reproduce accurately, bordering on beginner.
The Batches
My first batch, at 120ml, was mixed as exact in flavor measurements as I could get it and I steeped it the full 3 days, which took quite a lot of patience (I am not a patient man). I think an extra drop of strawberry taffy ended up in the batch. I mixed it to 70/30, rather than 90/10, because I just can't do that much VG. This likely affected the flavor just a bit, as VG tends to be more naturally sweet and PG tends to be a tad rougher on the throat. Though, PG does carry flavor better. I found that first batch pleasing to vape. It was smooth and tasted a little more strawberry than an actual strawberry taffy would, but that taffy flavor was definitely more noticeable. Halfway through vaping the batch I added a drop of Strawberry Ripe directly to my tank, shook it a bit and let it settle while I ate a meal. Afterward, it was much, much more enjoyable. So I ended up adding 15 drops to the rest of bottle, as a wild guess. It. Was. Awesome.
Second batch I bumped the Strawberry Ripe up to 1.5% in the app and mixed another 120ml at the same vg/pg ratio. This... was spot on. This was what I was looking for. The absolute best and most consistent vape I've had in the past few months. Considering I started my vaping experience with coffee and savory desert vapes and typically avoided fruit vapes like the plague, this should say something. This is the ratio I mixed for my coworker. She mixes too, but generally sticks to her own strawberry. Well, this has now replaced hers as her preferred vape. My wife, who very much dislikes most things that attempt to taste like a strawberry (except for actual, real strawberries) has also asked me to mix this for her next batch.
As It Stands
This is a solid recipe, and I highly recommend it. It's great on its own, and doesn't require adjustment to be pleasing. That said, at 70/30 it was just... a bit... shy of what I was after personally. It goes back creamy, and the strawberry pops more on the exhale than the inhale. It is not overly sweet, and is very close to what an actual strawberry tastes like with just a hint of taffy.
Suggested Adjustment
I recommend bumping your Strawberry Ripe up from 1% to 1.25% or 1.5%. At 1.5% it has a slightly bitter taste, just like a real strawberry and this seems to kick the recipe up to a whole new level. While I enjoyed it before I modified it, this recipe has soared after modification and has rarely left my tank.
A Special Thanks to MattyWill
If you happen to be on this subreddit, thank you for this recipe. I haven't yet started creating my own concoctions yet, and with recipes like this in my arsenal I'm not sure I'll ever need to.
PS: thanks for helping me find a fruit based "shake and vape" my wife enjoys, vs everything else she likes that requires 2 - 3 week steep times. Saved my bacon, man.
Great review, hopefully Matty will get to see it. If you don't have a pro account on ATF (required to leave a review there) the code "LETS-GO-2018" will get your a free month (expires in October and can be used multiple times) and then you can leave the first review on that recipe. I'm sure Matty would appreciate that.

Heh, do yourself a favor and don't get into tobaccos. Nice review. Second the recommendation to put it on the site if you get a subscription (which is worth it, IMO). A lot of recipes on ATF go unreviewed...kind of a blessing and a curse of the site.
Although supposedly flavorah designs their tobacco's to not need much of a steep, which has pros and cons.
What are the cons? FLV are the first and only tobaccos I've found palatable (even SAV), though I haven't tried any from INW yet.
INW is pretty good, as are hangsen's. I like that they don't require a long steep, but I also like the idea of the complexity of my juice increasing as it ages, rather than fading. Also, if you're mixing FLV tobacco with other tobacco brands it may be hard to find the perfect steeping time, for as the other tobacco's mature the flv could be fading
I wish I could try this but strawberry ripe seems to mute everything I put it in. Just the curse of my taste buds I suppose. Other strawberries seem fine, though some do it a bit to varying degrees, I've somewhat given up on strawberry ripe
Used this low, TFA Strawberry Ripe will act mostly as an emulsifier and adding some sweetness, the actual strawberry flavor will be weak and barely noticeable behind the CAP flavors. You could either omit it entirely (recommended) or perhaps sub for 0.5% of INW Shisha Strawberry or FA Strawberry. Won't be the same, but similar enough to get a feel for the profile.
