Use a little bit of common sense and a bit of carefulness, and gloves aren't needed.
Yep. I've never used gloves. Even with 100mg nic if you wipe it off your hands quickly you'll be fine. A bigger concern for me would be spills. Or flinging a drop into your eye. If any PPE is suggested, I'd say eye protection. But I've never used it myself and feel most probably don't either.
Yup, only 2 bucks so I didn't wanna take more risk instead of having protection for my skin just in case.
Nitrile gloves from any hardware or auto store. Get the right size and they're very form fitting and thin enough to be tactile but also good protection.
I use them for mixing juice, and fiberglass resin.
If you are spilling nicotine on your hands, you shouldn't be mixing at all.
Gotta disagree with you on this one. Mistakes happen even with the most experienced mixers. No big deal if you spill something every now and then when first starting out. You have to start somewhere and there will always be mistakes on the road to progress.
There's no big deal if you spill something regardless. Wipe it off right away, good to go. I'm just saying, there shouldn't be an excess amount being spilled on your hands to the point where you have to worry. If there is, something is wrong.
Your bigger concern should be spills. Mix in a place where spills can easily be cleaned.
Also, don't let any pets (cats, dogs) in your mixing room because small amounts of supercritical nicotine can be very dangerous to small animals.
You want something like this. I wouldn't recommend gloves that don't cling tightly to your hands and wrists.
Yes, you can certainly mix without gloves, but given how cheap gloves are, I don't see any harm in using them.
...unless they impair your grip and actually cause spills that wouldn't have occurred otherwise.
I would consider that a pretty far-fetched scenario with nitrile gloves...they're specifically made for people who need to use their hands. I've certainly never had a problem. But meanwhile I've seen plenty of times where a drip of nicotine came off of a an eyedropper and landed on the side of the bottle or the work surface. Probably not enough to do any harm, and easy enough to not make contact with, but in my mind the extra protection doesn't hurt. I can understand telling people that they don't really need gloves, but I can't see any reason to actively discourage gloves.
Also make sure you have plenty of space when mixing. So you don't accidentally bump stuff and that's how spills happen. I also like to prepare all flavorings I need, the pg vg and nic, so they're all within arms reach and I don't have to fuss about looking for flavorings in the middle of mixing. Since I make a number every mixing session, I like having the flavorings in groups already. I noticed the thing that takes up most of my time is actually finding the flavors I need, rather than the actual mixing process itself. Like, 1hr to find all flavors I need, another hour to mix them (about 8-9 recipes, each recipe ranging from 3 to 10 flavors).
Either this is a joke and you guys aren't getting it or this guy is serious and I'm missing something! https://contentinfo.autozonepro.com/znetcs/product-info/en/US/btp/22403-23/image/3/
If you're spilling large quantities of liquid while mixing, you're doing something wrong. But gloves won't hurt as long as you are not going to have glass slip out of your hands. If you did get nic on the gloves you can take them off before it gets through, or at least not a lot does.
Please don't take offense, but if you aren't sure what kind of gloves to use you probably should NOT be mixing with anything stronger than 100mg/ml nicotine. I'd say most home gamers (like myself) should NOT use anything stronger than 100mg nic.
100mg nicotine is not all that worrisome if you spill some on your skin as long as you wash it off promptly, so just about any latex or nitrile glove will provide adequate protection.
