One-shots from DIY mixers
submitted about 7 years ago by garamasala

I don't know why one-shots are not promoted more here. I found out by accident that nomnomz sells God Milk, Folkart's Reserve, Apple Buttah, and Sadlad. Then I discovered that Fear, /u/ID10-T, /u/mlnikon, /u/Apexified, /u/concreteriver, amongst others, have a line on chefsflavours under E-Juice Makers.

Are there any others I'm missing (UK based in particular)?

Is it against the rules to promote them here or are people just shy about it?

Edit: just noticed there is a new one at nomnomz

It's certainly not at all against any rule to mention, discuss, or review them.

The word "promote" squicks me out a bit though. It crosses a line for anyone to use this subreddit - and especially if I were to do it as a mod, seems like abuse of power - to promote something in which we have a financial interest (even if that financial interest only amounts to enough to buy a few tacos, or new flavors, a month). Trying to use this egalitarian hobbyist subreddit for free advertising is wrong, full stop. It's unethical.

When I made a post last year about I recipe I made by mixing one of my one-shots with someone else's one-shot and a couple of other ingredients, it was worried I might have come close to crossing the line. But, I thought it was pretty clear in the post that my goal was to start a conversation about using any of the many one-shots that are out there for other than their intended purpose, and noted that the recipe for my one-shot was publicly available (the other mixer's wasn't).

It reported as spam by one person and someone else reported it with the comment "this is advertising, plain and simple." The other mods approved it (since approving one's own post as a moderator would also be pretty gross). But I learned a lesson from that, now I don't even mention one-shots or anything else that might have any kind of financial benefit for me here. But if someone else mentions them, that's cool. I'd love to get some feedback on them from fellow mixers.

That's sad to read but I can see it's a difficult and sensitive topic, I hadn't really considered it in that sense. It's such a shame though to have to rely on stumbling across them when so many people here have a keen interest in following what the experienced mixers are doing.

Could there not be something in the wiki about it? That way it wouldn't need to be advertised as such there if you wanted to find it.

I put together a "one shot directory" a couple months ago but never got around to finishing FAQ Friday: One Shots...

There are about 350 or so and a lot more that need to be added when I find time.

I wouldn't get into specific ones or anything but it does seem like there should be something in the sidebar or wiki about the fact that one-shots exist, more for the good of people still buying commercial juice who might not be aware of them and might want to use them as a step into DIY.

One shots are how I got into DIY, i think they're a great way to show how easy it is to DIY. Once I realised how simple it is to mix it gave me the confidence to look up some recipes on ATF and mix from scratch.

A shop near me carries 3 of those and I think they are great for DIY enthusiasts who can't get to more rare companies like flavorah to make those recipes.

Besides everything else that has been mentioned, I imagine there’s at least a few others here that are like me. I don’t do one shots because that’s outside of my interests in DIY. I’m more in to recipe development. I think they’re probably a pretty good intro to DIY, but when people come here asking for recommendations, I guess I assume they’re looking for more than one shots.

That's a fair point but I think there's a place for them. I would rather spend a couple of quid on a one-shot to see if I like a recipe/profile than spend 10-15 on a bunch of flavours and then find I don't like it. I actually did that with one very hyped recipes recently and thought it was terrible. I find it useful when there seems to be a trend for more and more obscure or expensive flavours (FLV are not cheap here).

Yeah, I understand the appeal of them. I was just offering a possible reason that they might not get discussed or recommended very much here.

Chefs got a 20% off code at the moment. Not sure how long it is going to be active for, could be just this weekend.

You can find E-JUICE MAKERS one shots at

Chefs Flavours Wizard Labs Ecig Express Bull City (Recipe Packs)

We also have an Ejuice line you can order from Canada called MXR Collection.

In all honesty I don't see selling one shots as a viable income because people aren't going to pay much more for a 30ml of a one shot mix than they would a 30ml of regular flavoring. It would be really hard to get a big enough customer base to get to the point where your moving gallons of it and can get the Flavorings in bulk to have a little room to work with profit.

It works when the flavoring companies like chefs or BCF act as middleman because they already sell the flavoring but still the mixers arent making much prob just using it to get free flavoring for themselves lol.

I buy one shots occasionally because 1) saves me a lot of work if i know that im making a large batch, and 2) i dont want to plow through all my own flavorings. I like Wayne's triple Cs as an example. I have all the flavors i need, but theyre stuff i use often and i prefer not to use them all in one juice. So i just bought the one shot so i could make a massive batch without going through what ive got left in my own stash.

One shots are especially useful when you just dont have the time or patience to find or make a recipe yourself. From a casual vaper standpoint or as someone not super into mixing, its easier to use one shots if you just want to have juice on hand and wanna vape without going down the diy rabbit hole.

Are you saying that they should be allowed to be promoted here because there's not much profit? I wasn't really questioning them being promoted in terms of helping them in a business sense, just that I would be interested in trying them but it's hard to know that they even exist a lot of the time (shots from people here I mean).

No, I was moreless saying you don't see people going out of their ways independently to sell them because it isn't going to be worth the effort. A few flavoring vendors sell them or like BCF has recipes where you can buy all the flavors in one purchase, but I'm sure the vendors approached the mixers about these recipes not something they aimed to do.

You'd be surprised, a lot of my buddies who pushed hard for their one shots to be in multiple shops are getting a couple hundred bucks every month. It's not living money, but it's nice disposable.

Yeah i know some people are doing it, but just overall it will never be a goldmine because its hard to convince a Diyer to pay a huge mark up on flavoring. So the people who do it are moreso doing it for the passion / hobby side...

Whereas selling eliquid has such an insane markup, and most people are just in it for the money... their just going to sell eliquid instead.

Promoting things you're selling on this sub usually ends up getting people to sharpen their pitchforks. But yeah I mostly just throw the money I make from one shots right back into the creative process.

I think not only are they modest ...ppl that are jealous would raise a big stink first hint of any one of them mentioning it is my opinion. I’m glad you mentioned it bcuz unless you watch utube u might not know about their one shots... also Ckemist has some and folkart maybe, I think there are 10 or 12 that sent mixes...oh Jennifer Jarvis and I forget the rest but bullcity has some but the 10 or 12 I’m talking about are all at Chefs flavors ...also ecigs and Liquid Barn has some..;)

I don't think Bullcity has one shots. Not that I've seen anyway. They have recipe packs though.
