Did INW Cherries change formula?
submitted about 7 years ago by avtomat5150

I finally got around to making a good recipe with INW Cherries after having it on hand for about a year and a half, and testing it in a few mixes here and there. I used up what I had, and reordered from BCF. What I received was so different from what I had, that I actually contacted them about it. They confirmed that the rest of their stock was the same. It tastes like cinnamon/clove with a cherry aftertaste, not the bright, juicy red cherry that I had come to know from that concentrate.

The concentrate I just ordered is actually yellow, not clear like the older stock I had(it remained clear the entire time I've had it), and isn't even close to what it was. Does anyone have any insight as to what happened? Bull City Flavors was kind enough to refund me, as whatever replacement they could send would have been the same. I was initially worried it was the wrong flavor, which is why I contacted them.

From what I understand, they have two different cherry flavours. INW Cherries, and INW Cherry. Maybe you have the wrong cherry?

And I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

I don't have experience with that particular flavor but I know I read something about several INW flavors changing their formulation at some point over the last year or so. Maybe there's a list of effected flavors somewhere you can check.

the original list is here --> https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/61mszy/inw_leaked_reformulations/

but there aren't any of the straight up cherry flavorings on it

They've either done some more reformulating since then or there are some very serious QC issues at INW, since other flavors not on the list seem to have changed as well.

But, there's also the possibility that OP might have also gotten the wrong INW cherry flavor. Maybe BCF got the wrong INW cherry flavor sent to them?

We need a European mixer who orders from INW direct to order some INW Cherries and check it.

that's what I'm wondering - like maybe they were sent Cherry Anise by accident?

Chefs received INW Cherries ('Czeresnie') in late December 2017 and I don't pick up any cinnamon/clove taste.

Is your recipe public? Cherry is tough and I'd love to give it a whirl!

This is the cherry base I use and people seem to like it -

TFA cherry extract 4.5%

Inw Cherries 1%

Fa black cherry 0.75%

I ordered some a couple months back and I tasted clove too. I had kinda just assumed I had some weird taste issue with it and haven't messed with it much since.
