Suggestion for a sidebar Item or maybe just a FAQ. Flavour Pairing.
submitted about 7 years ago by graystorm01

HI All, I was thinking maybe it would be helpful if we had a "flavour Pairing" FAQ or sidebar. What i mean by this is a list of flavours that should go together to make a complete profile, for example, the holy trinity of blueberry. TFA Blueberry extra, FW Blueberry and FA Bilberry. What would be good percentages for those three when combining to create a recipe. I can think of a few others, like TFA Strawberry & CAP Sweet Strawberry, LOR Lemonade & FA Lemon Sicliy (or maybe as juthinc pointed out INW Lemon Mix). I'm sure there are probably a few others that i don't know. In any case, i think this would be very helpful for new mixers, and also might be helpful for a "first flavour" order. Maybe this is already listed somewhere and i missed it, if so, then please point me to it. If not, then i would be curious to hear what other people think of this idea.

Thanks

This is exactly what im talking about. This should be in tge faq section.

Thanks

Edit: after reading though the entire thresd. This world b good for first timers, but not quite what I mean. What im talking about is flavours that mix together to create a more accurate/realistic version of fruit/nut/bakery etc. Like the blueberry trinity which together makes a better. Tasting than any one companies blueberry flavouring.. if that makes sense

It makes sense. You want:
best concentrate (or combination thereof) for...:
pie crust
muffin
cake/cupcake
breakfast cereal (this one is Cereal 27, I believe)
bread/toast
cookie
pound cake
panettone
fruitcake
NY Cheesecake
euro cheesecake
correct?

Also, you should have a 'best toxic bakery flavor' so FW YC gets in there for that, and in all other instances where YC is required, use JF YC.

There is a book called The Flavor Bible I bought years ago for inspiration making specials at work. While a lot of it doesn't really apply to ejuice, it is a fantastic resource when developing recipes and definitely worth a look.

The flavor affinities bits are what I want to transcribe in a post.

Also, for anyone interested, someone uploaded this book to their virtual drive a long time ago. If you search the sub you can find a link.

This is a great FAQ topic for the weekly throwback posts....

I thought you had a good idea, and then saw the explanation.

Some mixers don't get that flavors that work together IRL are good places to start mixing(creating) a recipe. And some are unfamiliar with flavor pairings that work IRL (like PB bourbon, or chocolate cinnamon, or lemon mint, or Bergamot marzipan, or butterscotch mint or whatever. Obvious pairings like chocolate mint, chocolate coffee, chocolate cherry, chocolate nut (including peanut butter), PB and raspberry, PB and honey, PB and grape, PB and marmalade, PB and black currant, PB and really any decent fruit jam... Cranberry with chocolate, grape, orange, raspberry, apple, etc... that sort of thing.

I’d be all about writing something up for all different kinds of flavor affinities

Don't do it until I talk to in the discord. I have to gain more knowledge about desserts and drinks as that's not my thing but after that if you wanted could literally make one of the most comprehensive reputable flavor pairing/affinity lists that you can't find on any website period, and the ones that claim it they want you to pay for it.

On a totally unrelated note, I do like to read books. So if anybody read anything good lately especially dessert books that deals a little less on the baking side of things so a pour soul doesn't order 4 gallons of brown sugar at bullcity. Especially anything that deals with creams and how they interact and play with each other in a scientific way like the modernist cuisine.

P.S I've already read the Bible.
