Happy Vaping!
This very second, I’ve got some Southern Lights in the tank. No work today, so I’m just picking up devices at random, so it could be a MB Southern Cuts thing I’m playing around with because /u/amouthforwar got me interested in trying that. Never had one of the cigarettes, so I just went by what he described and watched some cigarette reviews on YouTube (which apparently is super popular?) Got /u/ebc88 Smokin’ Hibiscus in another tank and still really digging that. It’s been in steady use for the last week. Brigade in one tank because it always is, and Brigade in the pod because it always is.
Working on a couple different things in the basement lately. Most excited about one I’m calling Akane because Westworld is awesome. It is to INW Oriental what Brigade is to Black for Pipe. Basically, just simple and smoky. Adding a Tobacco Absolute, DNB, and some FA Ozone to dress up the Oriental. Gonna fill up a tank with it today and give it the final test before making it public, but I reckon it’ll be public by the weekend.
Vaped some Ripe Vapes VCT on Monday to get to know it better for a clone, and decided I don’t much like it. It seems like it’s pretty heavy on some Toasted Almond, and just starts to only taste like that to me after a while.
Also been toying around with my Boba’s Bounty clone. Might have made a slight breakthrough with it. A lot of people are convinced that FE Black Mile or Black Mile + is a major player, but I think that’s wrong. I’m going with FE Desert Ship. We will see how that works out.
Gonna have to get some FA Shade & INW Western and try your Southern Lights. I tested WF Ruyan Custard it was quite tasty for a solo flavor, but my 2 tobacco tester I used it in I wasn’t happy with.
Are you in to the leathery tobaccos? The INW Western might be a risky one if you don’t like those kinds. And most definitely don’t test it at 5%. It’ll ruin the whole flavor for you for about a year. I speak from experience haha.
Shade is a pretty safe one though. Has a really interesting top note.
It took so much willpower to not buy a pack from walgreens the other day after we talked about it dude D: but looks like a good mix and I'm excited to see about Akane (westworld is epic.)
The thing with the southern cuts white whale mix for me was... I got gold ducat ages ago and when i smelled it, the aroma was by far the closest thing to southern cuts I've had and likely still is, but in a mix it just vapes too wet and sweet and I pick up on the dark fruit background notes too much. Part of the reason I asked you about other companies' ducat-esque stuff the other day, hoping maybe there's a similar one thats more dry and less fruity. Food for thought!
First time I tested Gold Ducat I wrote in my notes:
> I've only smoked one or two packs of Camel Turkish Golds in my life, but for some reason that's the first thing that comes to mind. A little higher percentage and some DNB, and I think it could be a real good cigarette flavor.
But then I tested that idea out and couldn’t get it to work out. One of those YouTube reviews said the Southern Cuts reminded them of Camel Turkish Golds, so maybe there is something to it. Might just need to find a clever way to cut the wet and sweet stuff, and maybe that slightly bitter nut you described could do both of those things. There is also FA Bitter Wizard that might be useful. I also did another version after the one i sent you with FLV Beernuts.
Did you pick up Gold for Pipe or Black Jack Tobacco from Vapers Tek?
yes siree, I've had gold for pipe for about a week and Black Jack came in Monday.
Now that I think about it, that Tutun mix (I think I sent it to you but might have been a bad link, its public on ATF now though) I used Gold Ducat, Gold For Pipe, and the inw Orientals and it came out pretty well. Both at pretty low percentages isn't too wet. The double gold combo might be a good foundation to work off of, not sure what to pair it with though. I don't think the INW orientals are a good fit here and I'd opt for a different Turkish or camel style flavor.
side note: How's INW Western compared to TFA's? I've played with TFA's a bit and it's got a good profile to it but it's a bit weak and at the percentage it vapes well at is a little overly sweet. I think Dark Fire might be useful here too, just a touch though for the honey, INW s'camel or something too? Lookin at your Unfiltered recipe for ideas on how to bridge them a bit
For the bitter nut aftertaste I've been really considering TFA Toasted Almond or FA Almond, leaning more towards TFA.
How does FE Desert Ship compare to Hangsen's if you've had it?
Also, been vaping on your Adventure with your "tobacco stone" added and its pretty nice. Really been enjoying that stone as well as the D4P variant. Feels like I'm cheating sometimes using it but it works damn fine.
FE Desert Ship has some of that base flavor that you find (or at least that I find) in a lot of the FE tobaccos with a bit of a leathery note. Not really anything like the HS variety. There’s just something about it that shouts Boba’s to me.
I’m glad you’re finding good use for that stone! You’re probably the only person that mixed it up haha.
>You’re probably the only person that mixed it up
Well I shouldn't be because its pretty great. I keep a bottle of the original and Dark4Pipe variant on hand at all time.
When I would add some TA, DNB, or Black Fire to a recipe I've started adding either the B4P or D4P variant instead and it works really well.
Its very versatile.
Have you managed to figure out what the raisin flavor in boba's could possibly be? I think that's the distinctive hook in the juice that really does it for me.
I’ve been using HS Magic Mix At 8% for the Raisin note, but I’ve also been searching through DIY threads on ECF from 2009 to see what people had available to them back then to see if I could find any clues. I also used the Way Back Machine to look at ECX in 2009, and it looks like the only DIY related stuff they had back when Boba’s was being created was VG, PG, and menthol crystals. And I haven’t found any mention of any Chinese super concentrates on the forums from that time period, so I’m not even sure if Desert Ship or Black Mile were available then. Seems like tobacco wise, there was FA, Seedmans, and there was a Tobacco Absolute from Samara Botane that seems to have been pretty popular back then that is no longer in stock at the website. I’m wondering if that’s the ingredient that they used that they could no longer get. I’ve been using the ECX Tobacco Absolute for my clone, but the other one apparently had a really light fruit note, which maybe helped with the raisin flavor. So basically, the research continues.
> 2009
Jesus, it's crazy to think it's been around that long. I just went through my old emails and found what I think is my first order of it from mid 2012.
I might have to grab a bottle of magic mix on my next flavor order. I'm slowly working my way into the world of tobaccos. I've realized I like TFA RY4 Double and it's helped make up for a bad cat piss experience I had with TFA Black Honey Tobacco that turned me off from the concept of tobacco in general a few years ago.
> Seems like tobacco wise, there was FA, Seedmans, and there was a Tobacco Absolute from Samara Botane that seems to have been pretty popular back then that is no longer in stock at the website.
Are you referring to Nicotiana rustica by any chance? I got my hands on some a couple of years ago and its been sitting ever since. I've got about 20ml total and it's a 10% dilution in pure grain alcohol. I'd be more that happy to send some your way if you're interested.
Well, i just made my first 2 recipes last night. Super duper strawberry, which i messed up, and haven't tasted yet. SDS is probably a bust since i was supposed to put .10 of a flavor and ended up putting 1.0 And the second one was a cinnamon donut, which i'm vaping now and really like. TO me, it tastes more like a cinnamon roll with vanilla icing. Definitely have to make up a bigger batch of this stuff. I learned that you have to be patient and let your scale "catch up" when your working in such small amounts (10 mls). EDIT: Can't find where i got these recipes from, so here they are
SUPER DUPER STRAWBERRY 70/30VG
- CAP Sweet Strawberry – 0.5%
- CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream – 1.0%
- FA Marshmallow – 0.5%
- CAP Raspberry - 0.50%
- TFA Ripe Strawberry – 2.0%
- CAP Sucralose - >0.25%
and
Cinnamon Donut 60/40 VG
- CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl V1 6%
- CAP Sugar cookie 2%
- CAP Vanilla Custard V1 1%
- TFA Sweetener 1%
EDIT: THe Super duper strawberry recipe is wrong, i copied it into my notes, and then my database missing an ingredient. the original recipe can be found here for anyone interested. Kudos to AwesomeDave84 for this.

Might try this sugar cookie + danish swirl mix in the future, right now I have a looper clone, blueberry donut and cinnamon toast crunch occupying my small bottles but this sounds like it could be solid. I really want to like sugar cookie but struggling to get it to make a smooth vape still right now.
I'm in awe of people using cap cds at such high %s recently. I've used drops in a glazed donut recipe and found it overpowering!
Not that many things this time around. I've been stuck on my Retaliatory Tariffs recipe and sampling a couple of different versions of for pod recipes that aren't shareworthy.
But I did try 15 different pears. Some quick thoughts: MB Shape-Up Pear is phenomenal, probably everything you could want in a pear flavor. FA Pear, super useful for sweet and juicy. WF Ripe Pear, nice texture, almost as nice as FLV's, and without the regurgitated burpy off note that FLV's has. TFA Pear, pretty nice and earthy, not very juicy, little harsh without at least a short steep. SC Pear (from VZ) - better candy pear than TFA Pear Candy. Meh: FW Pear, LA Pear. Weird: CAP Pear, VT Pear, OoO Pear Juicy. Abominations: GF Pear, GF Pear Yogurt. INW Pear? Who knows, the old one was super but it's been reformulated and I don't know what the new version tastes like. Edit: a missing word
Not much this week. It's pretty hot in the UK, so I've been craving something cold and refreshing, so I checked out nebulæ by /u/matthewkocanda.
This is really hitting the spot for me. It's juicy, fruity, cold and refreshing. I would definitely recommend mixing this up if it's hot where you are.
Just got the ingredients in this week to try Prickly Victory by u/hashslingingslashur and it's absolutely amazing. Currently using it in my Zeus RTA. In my Uwell Nunchaku tank, I've got some barebones RY4 double with some added Bavarian cream. Lastly I'm trying out "Purple Drank" from Dharmabum on ELR. It's pretty bland off the shake, but I'm hoping it'll be solid after a steep.
Some intensely icy watermelon (4.5% LA Watermelon, 3.5% TPA Watermelon Candy, and about 25 drops of WS-23 per 30mL) and a cinnamon roll/danish thing that's growing on me (4% CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl, 3% CAP Vanilla Custard v1, and 2% LA Cream Cheese Icing). There's tweaking to do yet, but I'm pleasantly pleased given these were my first attempts mixing something up after simply picking ingredients and percentages.
Going through my stash, I'm now vaping Cardinal by Fear. The smell is omg so amazing, and the addition of the FLV tobaccos really hit the spot in making it more tobacco/cigarette than caramel. The smell of the caramel is very strong and sweet, but on the vape, it isn't overpoweringly or sickeningly sweet. I did use this past the 14 days thing in his notes so I wasn't able to notice the change in nuance, but still a very enjoyable vape. Holy grail is really amazing, and I reckon this could be a good standalone at 8%. I missed out on the notes and forgot to bump the tobaccos to double so it does play a back seat, more of an accent than a strong flavor profile. Still, I really like this.
I have just tried A+ dulce by Vapor_Douche and this is also very good. The smell is very strongly dulce de leche. Here's the odd thing though. On the inhale, it's very sweet, the dulce comes forward with just a bit of cigarette flavor from the A+ blend. The exhale is night and day different though, no sweetness, just the A+ Blend coming through. Tbh it's not my favorite from StixxMixx at the moment (haven't tried Honduran and Nicaraguan Seco) but I still have a few more mixes to try out.
Prior to this, I was also vaping on another masterpiece by fear, Arctic Queen. This is true to description, cigarette with a minty coating. It reminds me of Lucky Strikes with the green and black packaging tbh. This is definitely gonna be a fav, considering I used to smoke menthols exclusively when I smoked. A lot of the times, most tobacco recipes on ATF or ELR have to do with a cigar profile, and since I've never (or only once) smoked cigars, I'm more preferential for cigarette-type flavor profiles.
I was sick with colds last week and just finishing up the last drops of Qebui's Gust by Vurve. This is an intensely strong and minty vape that can get some getting used to. I highly recommend this if you're sick with colds (although drink plenty of fluids as vaping can dry your throat too!). Plain mint flavor, perhaps the only off-taste would be the bland or bitter aftertaste that is common with some mint lozenges. But still, while vaping, this is very enjoyable, esp on a hot sunny day. The thing I like about this mix (please help me if the coldness comes from FW Menthol or if the mints themselves have it too), is that it's cold on both the inhale and exhale. WS-23 is good, but it's only cool on the inhale. I might have to get me some FW Polar Blast in conjunction with WS-23 so both inhale and exhale will be cool.
Edit: idiot's pina colada is amazing!
Got some Mixers Club testers to do this week. Been steady vaping Native God in one my rdas. Got my tube and Drop rda loaded with Daves Mango Blossom . Got my Creamy Pipe in one my squonks, and lastly i got My Mixers Club submission in another squonk.
Good gawd, I've mixed 20-something juices this week I have no clue where to start. Good news is most are steeping currently but I have a handful I've been vaping on heavily.
Yesterday, I had my Hussar RTA filled with Pipa Del Abuelo from /u/chemicalburnvictim and its delicious. Little tickle of some dark tobaccos but bright mango to satisfy with something fruity for the summer. And its good after a single day steep!
Also been vaping on Reminiscent, not sure if hes on reddit but its a fucking great mix for how simple it is. Thought the caramel and butter pecan would muscle out the tobacco but FLV Tatanka punches through the mix with some gusto, and I think something in here is emulsifying the mix because the flavors melded together seamlessly. Shake and vape redman chewing tobacco. Its fucking good.
At this exact moment I'm testing my Fistful of RY and seeing how it aged. A week in its pretty much what I wanted. Dry, nutty, light bodied but prominent tobacco, slight caramel and vanilla. Actually does feel like a cigarillo kinda!
And of course I need an icy vape on hand at all times
This week I finished my test batch of the Betelgeuse clone: https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/2pdt5l/clone_recipe_betelgeuse_by_nicoticket/
I don't vape many fruity flavors so I had to research to find something I actually liked, and this worked quite well. I used FA Pineapple as I didn't have the CAP handy. May bump up the percentages slightly for next batch. I don't like my vapes nearly as sweet as the recipes here tend to make them, so I often end up under-flavored and work my way up to an acceptable level.
Flavor|% :--|:-- CAP Sweet Strawberry|3.07% FA Pineapple|2.57% CAP Raspberry|2.57% CAP Sweet Mango|1.54% FA Liquid Sweetener|0.25%
Lazy ass summer fruit recipes inspired by the simplicity of /u/ID10-T s123 and strap-on formats - All the 2's. Basically 4 fruit flavours each at 2% so currently Apple Fuji, strawberry ripe, kiwi and sweet tangerine. Not particularly sophisticated but working for me in the hot weather.
3% TFA pomegranate
1.2% FA Fuji
1% FA Forest Fruit
.3% FA White Grape
The pomegranate by itself is really "spikey", tart and mildly unpleasant. The Fuji is an overpowering green apple. The forest fruit tastes like a bag of Welch's fruit snacks. The white grape is unpleasantly floral.
For some reason when you combine these things the white grape smooths out the spikeness of the pomegranate and Fuji. It tastes like vaping candy but without the crazy sweeteners. I'd love for others to give it a try and see what they think.
I've been testing tons of things with FA Custard Premium between 2-3%. So far its pretty tasty. Very buttery, smooth, and eggy. I can definitely taste the Diacetyl (which is awesome). The current mix I have in my RDA is...
4% CAP Apricot
1.5% FA Apricot
1% FLV Cream
1% INW Vanilla Shisha
2.5% FA Custard Premium
Have used used the FA custard premium for a vanilla custard recipe - if so, can you share it or recommend something. I have some and want to mix up a vanilla custard.
Custard Premium 2.5-3%
Add a support cream, a support vanilla, and maybe a bakery/cookie/graham cracker. Try adding one or two cohesive accents, and voila!
If you want you can PM me your concentrate list that might fit into a custard profile and I'll help you work on getting a recipe down.
Some cake frosting type of juice i concocted. Tastes like some kind of lemon cake icing or something really similar. I really just wanted to use the marshmallow as a sweetener but it actually mellowed out the key lime.
3% TFA Key Lime 2% TFA Strawberry 1% Marshmallow 1% TFA Fiji Apple
I made my own rendition of Juice By The Ounce’s strawberry guava that I’ve been vaping the shit out of lately. Also another one I’ve been privy to is what I call “Reno” it’s a clone of a strawberry/blueberry/lemonade I picked up from a in house mix shop when I was vacationing in Reno around March. Twisted the strawberry up, went with B.B. extra instead of just blueberry and changed to a solid pink lemonade instead of flat out lemonade. Easily one of if not my favorite flavors and always gets a +300mL batch made of it when I mix it up.
I've created an abomination.
here, try it.
all flavors are TFA
2% pineapple
2% coconut
2%blue raspberry
2%green apple
1% DX sweet cream
1% sweet
4% watermelon extract
Using a DX other than peanut butter? Yup, that qualifies as 'abomination'.
My two bottles at the moment are my own Key Lime Cheesecake, posted in the July recipes thread, and dazcole's Circus Cookie Remix, which I think tastes more like the bright pink strawberry wafer layered cookies.
Still vaping stuff I mixed up over a month ago... mostly alternating between finishing off some tobaccos and my Candy Blossom. Also, found a variant on Lung Sauce I mixed up. Wasn't impressed with it back then, but it's not bad... just not quite what I was trying for.
