Question about DIY plastic bottles.
submitted about 7 years ago by TheBeardedWizrd

Right now I'm using 30ml LDPE Chubby Gorilla bottles bought from eBay. I like the wide mouth because it's easy to fill while mixing. I also like the fact that I can easily reuse the bottle because the tip can easily be removed. I hate glass bottles, because I work in a factory and always seem to break them, so i stick to plastic. Are the Chubby Gorilla bottles the best bang for your buck? Are there other equivalents out there? What's your favorite plastic bottle to use?

I really like FH bottles. They are technically a knock-off of Chubby Gorillas (at least from my perspective) but they're superior in pretty much every way. My favorite part is the child proof feature is really smooth so the caps double as fidget spinners.

Stupid question.... what is FH?

FH is just the brand. It's still a 60mL unicorn style bottle.

Got you. Where do you buy them from?

The nozzle caps have a lip that sits around the bottle it looks like? God that alone is like a massive improvement to the normal gorillas. Fuckin hate getting the nozzles off empty chubby bottles

Yeah that's one of the huge factors. Another one is the nozzle caps actually come inside of the screw cap, so you put it in just by screwing on the cap. The problem with Chubbies is it's 3 separate pieces and it's a real fucking pain in the ass to get those nozzles in or out. I've even gone as far as 3D printing something I call the bottle bopper to make putting those nozzles in a bit easier. Getting them out is basically impossible without ruining the bottle or spilling juice in my experience.

You can get the nozzles in easier by placing it over the fill hole unscrewed and putting the cap on it and screwing the top cap all the way down. Every bottle used to be a pain in the arse until I figured that out.

I order 100 dropper bottles at a time from Dropper Bottles. LDPE 120mls. Great for the summer months when your juice runs like a new car.

Wow. These bottles look awesome. How does the tip hold up over time? Have you ever had a problem with the tip popping off while squeezing the bottle?(some bottles have this issue with fittment)

The tips work very well. I have purchased from them in 30, 60, 120,(boston round) and 30ml unicorns. Only maybe 3 bottles have had issues out of several hundred I have ordered.

No tips have ever popped off on me.

Never popped off on me, I have to use my teeth. Just don't buy the 30mls. Everyone I bought cracked an leaked. They updated the 120mls tho. Wonderful bottles. Cheaper and better than China.

Do you buy the big mouth version? Have you tried the 60ml bottles as well, or just the 30 and 120's?

My favourite bottles so for are the Boston bottles 60ml rather then 30 but they are really easy to squeeze with a small nib to easily fit into the smaller kidney fill tanks

I use the 60ml CG bottles and they're my favorite. I don't use drippers other than for flavor testing so I hate glass dropper bottles. I've been thinking of switching to the 30mL CG bottles and mixing more often because I carry 8 flavors around and by the time I'm finished with them all, sometimes they're noticeably weaker.

I use the 30 and 60ml chubby gorilla bottles right now, but they are not cheap, and the 60ml PET bottles are not easy to take apart to refill. I'm looking for an alternative without sacraficing quality.

Bull City Flavors has the 60ml LDPE Chubbys at $3.75 per 5 bottles. Not sure about their price for the 30mLs though

I'm looking for an alternative. I'm already using the chubby gorilla bottles... and bull city charges more than eBay does.

Ok I've decided to purchase 120ml LDPE "big mouth" boston bottles from dropperbottles. I will update this post once I get them, and possibly write a review on these big mouth style bottles in the subreddit.

I mix in 120 ml bottles and transfer into 30 ml bottles to take out and about. I like to have 5 or 6 flavors to rotate through , I carry them in a bag with spare batteries, wicks, coils and tools. I'm not particularly rough with it, but I'm not exactly gentle either, I'll toss it around and don't worry about it's orientation. Never had a problem, bottles haven't broken or leaked and tips haven't pop off or come loose.

Now, I may get some weird cancer in 50 years, but I haven't really had any problems with my chinese knock offs.

These are my favourites right now. The twist tops are really convenient, and they are slim so fit in a pocket nicely.

Only thing is, when it's hot out sometimes you'll get a little precum dribble out when you unscrew the twist top.
