Flavour Art was at Canadian Vape Expo in Toronto this weekend. They were giving out sample packs
I've never tried any of those flavors before. I was busy the whole weekend and I'm gonna be busy the next couple of days, so I was just smelling them satisfy the itch.
Man I want to drink this flavor straight out of the bottle. It's unbelievable. It has that same dairy note as TFA Sweet Cream. Really rich, buttery note with a very well balanced chocolate/cocoa on the side.
I couldn't wait, so I mixed it up at 4%. Tried a shake and vape.
This tastes exactly what it smells like. That rich butter is freakin delicious. The chocolate is light but not unnoticeable, I think they got the perfect balance here.
No doughy note whatsoever. The chocolate/cocoa doesn't taste fake either. No off notes. It's different than FA Cocoa and FA Chocolate, it's much better. The flavor still separates in the bottle like FA Cocoa, it looked like there were sediments at the bottom.
It's a lot like chocolate milk, but richer. It's just sweet enough that you don't really need any added sweetener, but I think this will taste a lot better with some.
I can see a lot of chocolate milk mixes with this, WS-23 and some additional creams. May be some FW Butter Pecan or Hazelnut.
If shake and vape was this good I'm hoping and praying that it'll only get better with steeping.
I am trying to buy a big bottle but no one has it in stock. Nic River doesn't even have it listed :(
Day 2
It has mellowed out a little. That butter tone has calmed down sadly, but the overall mix now tastes more coherent. It smells and tastes like a rich, creamy milk chocolate bar like Lindt.
This gives me hope for a one all-end all plain glazed donut. While I am not sensitive to the play dough in CAP glazed, and FA Zepolla is great but not everything it could be, we need a legit, non weird glazed donut flavor.
I did not like cap glazed or chocolate glazed. I still have full bottles of them left lol.
This is so much better. I went to a Krispy Kreme in Detroit once where they fry the donuts in front of you. This flavor reminds me of that warm, soft freshly bakes glazed donut.
How did you decide on that 4% mark, out of curiosity? I want to start SFTs, but I'm kind of lost on what % to do each one at.
I typically look on ATF or ELR and see what people are using it at, just to get an idea of how strong the flavor is. Sometimes manufacturer recommendations can be a bit high for sub ohm vaping. I find 3% typically gives you an idea of the strength/texture of almost any flavor, but there are some you won't want to try over 1%.
Not a blanket rule, but generally INW, FLV, and FA are going to be more in the 1-4% range, while CAP, TFA, and FW are better in the 3-6% (or more) range. You'll still have outliers like INW Pineapple or TFA Blackberry, but a little looking around usually clears some of that up.
Thanks much. This will get me started out. I'll have to check out ATF more to get some baselines.
What would you mix INW Pineapple at? That is one of the flavors I grabbed for a recipe.
4-6%, it's a bit weak for INW. /u/ID10-T uses it at 5.5% in If You Like Piña Coladas along a couple other supporting pineapples and it works great there.
I sampled it at 2 or 3% and it was underwhelming. It needs some supporting flavors IMO, and it won't get weird if you want to push the percentage too.
Every brand/flavor is different, there's no single % that will work for everything.
That said, I usually mix the first test at 5%.
It's just a ballpark really.
I usually like FA flavors at around that percentage. I'd actually go a little bit higher but it smelled strong and it's a very dark colored flavor. Chocolate flavors usually have a rather narrow range, if you go a little bit too high they taste bad.
If it were say a FW flavor I'd probably go 10-12. TFA at around 7-10. Every brand has an average strength that you figure out pretty quickly.
So.. no baked good taste to it? Could be worthwhile.
nope! None at all. Right now it tastes like really rich milk chocolate!
Rich, delicious, butter taste comes from the "bad stuff" in my experience. FANA won't/don't allow us to have any of that. I'm not calling BS, but I have a hard time believing this flavor is really rich and buttery.
FA is really about safety and regulation now. They say all the new flavors are safe to vape. Pick up a sample bottle and see for yourself :)
FWIW, the MSDS lists:
3.8% Cocoa extract (84649-99-0) - "Cocoa, powdery, bitter, beany, brown and roasted with a yeasty nuance"
1% Acetoin (513-86-0) - "sweet buttery creamy dairy milky fatty"
0.017% Furaneol (3658-77-3) - "Sweet caramellic cooked meaty and fruity nuances"
Honestly, I'm pretty impressed with all of the newer FA flavorings they're going to release maybe with the exception of FA Graham Crust. The Candy Wizard is phenomenal too and I think is going to be really popular.
