What are your favorite "clean" recipes?
submitted over 7 years ago by dovakeening

I've tried using the search bar for this, but couldn't find a thread like this. If there is one, please link me to it!

I'm wondering what everyone's favorite recipes are that are "clean", that is, don't tend to gunk up coils much? I've tried a few different commercial juices that can sustain about 60+ ml on one coil, and I'd like to mix some juices with similar results.

Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

Edit: I tend to go towards cereals, citrus, and stone fruits. I mainly avoid strawberry because I get a weird taste off of most I've tried. Same with Mango. Other than that, I'm always trying new things!

here's my favourite:

vg 70%
pg 30%

Can I substitute more VG instead of the PG or would it change the recipe too much?

I think more VG will tend to gunk up more your coils, keep it 70/30 or less

100% VG will clog ur lungs too much vape

This is entirely anecdotal, but in my experience flavors that are colorless are more gentle on coils. Same to be said for juices with less concentrate.

Again, just one guy's experience.

Sweetener, Ethyl Maltol, and citric acid are all clear and will tear up a coil...

by SteepingTakesTimeover 7 years agoYellow Cake Apologist

I wouldn't classify those as "flavors" personally. I think of them as additives. The salt and pepper of vaping.

by kindgroundover 7 years ago

Ethyl Maltol, Citric Acid, and Malic Acid are found in some clear flavorings as well as being additives. EM is usually in the concentrates labeled as "sweet" or "ripe". Acids labeled as "sour" or "tart".

Clear and without additional sweeteners. Though personally, pretty much every re ipe I've made that include sweeteners, I just don't put it in and leave everything else the same, and they pretty much always come out great.

My adv is

3% extreme ice

1% inw eucalyptus mint

.5% koolada.

Cotton stays fresh for quite a while.

Haha thanks for the recipe, but I get uncomfortable with a few drops of menthol in a 60ml recipe. I have a feeling that'll knock me right back.

1 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Extreme Ice is just menthol, right? I'm soo tempted to make this.

Needs more WS-23

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

And FA Polar Blast.

(note: anyone who adds WS-23 and FA Polar Blast to the above recipe probably has some insane coolant tolerances. And some insane and/or self-destructive tendencies.)

1 points

by fackyuuover 7 years ago

I never was able to get extreme ice, curious what type of equivalence do you think it has to ws-23? I routinely use a ton of ws-23 and bit of polar ice (from a rec you gave a while back to add in koolada) to cool my mixes.

OMG that's a lung killer!! It's a little bit of koolada and makes me cough... I don't want to know what would do this one.

I like this a lot. Pog Remix. Crisp, surprisingly full, and clean even with the Super Sweet which is entirely optional. Fantastic right off the shake. I like to make different variations of it. For instance, right now I am doing strawberry + pomegranate, orange, guava. As long as you have a sweet fruit + citrus fruit + guava it seems you can't go wrong. Honeydew, lime, guava will be my next experiment. Guava must stay for the Pog feel, but guava may or may not be for you. I often like to swap Cap Sweet Guava for FLV Pink Guava for a slight leafy, less sweet taste.

I've gone through 360ml of my Lung Coolant without even rewicking before. Normally I rewick every 120ml just because it tastes so damn good on a fresh wick, at 360ml it didn't taste any different than it does at 60ml or 120ml. It's super clean and super cold.

I also routinely go through 120ml of my Slammer without rewicking. It's a POG recipe that I'm pretty proud of.

I've done 120ml at a time of Vurve's Best Damn Pink Lemonade a shit ton of times, this is my favorite recipe that isn't my own. It's super refreshing and light enough that there's no palate fatigue from vaping it constantly, the flavor is perfectly on point.

To echo what others have said: clear flavors, low percentages, and no added sweeteners definitely help decrease gunkage. I hate rewicking/rebuilding and if I can't comfortably go through a full 120ml of a recipe, that recipe is almost definitely not going to be made by me again.

Idiot's mango blossom macaroon is fairly clean while also having some natural sweetness to it.

I love that recipe (totally unbiased opinion here). But it's not the cleanest, or even my cleanest. It would be cleaner without the CAP Sugar Cookie, but then where would we be, flavor wise?

Still, /u/dovakeening has set the bar pretty low for 60 ml on one coil being considered "clean." Mango Blossom Macaroon can do that. LOTS of recipes can do that. Basically anything that doesn't have any sweetener or any very gunky ingredients can do that, I think.

OP, if you want a recipe you CAN vape lots and lots of on one coil, there are plenty of them out there. The question is, would you want to vape lots and lots of it? If you give some kind of guidance as far as what kinds of flavors you like, it would be easier to suggest something you're more likely to enjoy.

2 points

by penatbaterover 7 years ago

Otoh, there are lots of recipes that don't have additional sweetener, but still guns coils pretty fast simply due to their flavorings. Tobaccos are exceptionally good at this, as well as some chocolates or bakeries. I mentioned that recipe coz im vaping it now and any recipe that leaves clean coils after two squonk refills is good on my book. 👌

I hope you're enjoying it.

Yeah, that's why I said "very gunky ingredients" - tobaccos and chocolates would definitely be included in that.

I see that. Good news for you, citrus and most stone fruits are pretty clean unless sweeteners are added. Cereals, not as clean.

My favorite that qualifies, and it's also a favorite of my taste testers:
Purple Lemonade
4% INW Grapes
5% LA Lemonade
.5% INW Lemon Mix
WS-23 & FA Polar Blast (to taste. I like 1-1.5% each. You should start at .25% each and work your way up. You want lemonade, not neocitran, but also not a slushie.)

I'm going to mix this right now. I've yet to taste INW Grapes yet so it'll be a good opportunity. Don't have Lemon Mix but will use Lemon Sicily and I think I've seen you use Sicily with LA Lemonade before.

1 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

I have. They're quite similar. INW is a bit stronger. Say .75% Lemon Sicily... probably about right. INW Grapes just tastes purple.

I recently tried a Flavourart line Pazzo, King in particular.

It’s a black currant, sugary candy. I’m not a fruit vaper, and I really enjoy it.

The coil in my doggystyle looked brand new after 4 tanks. It ran really clean!

2 points

by kindgroundover 7 years ago

I love this flavor. It's pretty good and it's kind of a chameleon. Sometimes I get a forest fruit-esque mash of brighter berries. Sometimes I get that darker black currant showing through.

It definitely does taste like the black currant candies coated in powdered sugar that I had in Europe at the age of 15. It's just not as saturated as I'd like and if you push it higher the bright berry notes start to get nasty to me. Almost astringent and ketchupy. I'm not giving up on it though.

1 points

by Skenner11over 7 years ago

4% worked for me! It’s currently in my rotation.

I have gotten a funky sore throat after nearly every fruit mix I’ve ever made.

So far this one and nicotine river strawberry biscuit are winners (although the latter is NOT kind to coils).

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Those candies you speak of? I suggest you look up the recipe Lung Sauce. When I subbed TFA Honeysuckle in for the Cotton Candy, the taste definitely reminded me of those candies.

A variant of the mega melons recipe that was doing the rounds a few years ago. I dialled this in a couple of years ago and have been making 1-2L batches since :)

TFA Papaya 6%
TFA Cantaloupe 6%
TFA Mango 5%
TFA Dragonfruit 2.5%
TFA Marshmallow 1%
WS-23 (30%) 2%

Usually go for max VG for convenience, but recently trying 75/25 as I've switched to a KFv5 for my ADV device.

I hit this all day in multiple devices - in my low-wattage tanks or squonkers the cotton stays white, coils clean for a month and beyond

by Botboy141over 7 years agoWTF is a "Terpene?"

1.0% INW Lemon Concentrate
0.5% FLV Pink Guava

Refreshing summer vape. I don't change the coils in my tank with this one more than once every 120-200ml.

I can also get 120ml out of PMP pretty comfortably:

5% TFA Pineapple
5% TFA Mango
5% TFA Papya

Both recipes are good with 0.5% Sweetener as well but obviously coils tank a lot quicker when added. I tend to rotate using it versus not.

You still have INW Lemon from before it was ~~reformulated~~ ruined? Or is this another one of their giving multiple different flavors similar names business?

2 points

by Botboy141over 7 years agoWTF is a "Terpene?"

I have about half a liter of INW Lemon Concentrate from mid 2016. So, guessing before it was ruined.

My recipe:

Strawberry coke

Inw cactus .5% Tpa dragon fruit 1% Tpa strawberry 3% Fa red touch 3% Fa cola 3% Ws-25 1-2% (depending on how I’m feeling)

Edit: I will sometimes swap out the red touch for cap sweet straw at the same %

My cleanest tasting recipe so far is 6% Banana Cream 2% Pina Colada 2% lemonade Cookie 0.5% sugar cookie

Nice sweet banana on the front end and tangy doughy on the exhale

I can get at least 90-100ml out of [this] (https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/55462) recipe before rewicking. Only because I'm lazy. I probably should rewick around 60ml in.

EDIT: it's a citrus vape you may like.

Grack Juice (e-l-r) is refreshing, addictive, and even the cotton lasts forever with it.

I have yet to try it without koolada but I want to after I order more grape juice. Not a koolada/Menthol fan.

I'm quite new to DIY, but a commercial one i found that seemed like i could vape endlessly on the same coil was [Beard Vape's Tan](http://www.giantvapes.com/tan/) (first link that came up on a google search)

Most of what I mix is "clean" because I can't stand gunky coils and changing my wick multiple times a day. However, when I want something super simple... something to give my taste buds a break, I just vape Flavorah Eisai at 0.50% (you'd probably have to double that percentage) It's a light, somewhat fruity, slightly floral and sweet (but not perfumey) flavor. I also like lemonade but I think I'm becoming a lemon mute because I vaped lemonade for too many months in a row way back when...

It's a simple recipe of equal parts FE Lemon and FW Natural Lemonade. I use 2% for both, but you may need to increase that. You can add sweetener to your taste, additional fruits (strawberry, raspberry etc), kooling agents... Pretty much anything but it's good just like this.

by Cepsitaover 7 years ago

Can't help myself. I'm posting this for the benefit of others, maybe not yours. The only recipe I've mixed that I won't get tired from, is virtually shake and vape, and keeps coils surprisingly clean is... Strawberry Trinity!. I don't mind changing cotton. It's just that I'd rather go through a day or two without cleaning coils and/or swapping atomizers.

Most diy flavors are good, untill you get into desserts but you can still easily get 60 ml as long as you dont add artificial sugar and keep the percentage of the dessert flavor low. I did lemon cheese cake and went 100 or more with out changing because I did only 3 percent cheese cake and 4 percent lemon. Not as flavorful as stores but I'm way more of a custard not sweet kind of person I've been thinking about dabling in chocolate but idk because all my test bottles are gone and only have a 120 ml bottle.
