- Can I make high nic vape juice (50 nic) for my sourin or should I just order juice for that?
- Looking for a good palette cleanser to use between juices. Should I just make flavorless vape juice or?
- What percent of the juice should be flavoring? (I heard its around 10 percent)
Hi, first of all you can use whatever level of nicotine you want, it is diY after all. Just be careful and use common sense. I wouldn't recommend going that high with regular freebase nicotine as it would be so harsh and unvapable but I have heard of people going as high as 50 with nic salts. For a good palette cleanser you can always go flavorless or something with menthol or a strong mint is always good. A lot of people recommend inw eucalyptus with mint. As far as what percent of juice should be flavoring, that all depends on what flavors you are using. I've seen decent mixes with only 3% total flavoring and there have been mixes with 20+% of flavoring. Every flavor has a different % that it is best at. I would recommend checking elr or atf for the average % used. For starting out, I also recommend finding a handful of highly rated recipes that look good to you and mix those. Welcome to this awesome hobby!
i knew a guy that did 85mg with nic salt. saltnic sells these disposables that have 60mg but i’ve never seen higher.
I use 24 in my mipod and it is as high as I would ever want to go, I am going to go lower next time.
yeah, just saying people can stand pretty high concentrations and some are even sold commercially. 60mg is the highest i’ve seen, but that’s rather uncommon. 55mg is pretty easy to find, 50mg is most common. i think juul is like 59mg, it’s labeled as 5.0% by weight so most would assume it’s 50mg but this post explains it pretty well.
I'm by no means an expert, but here's my take:
-
The 50mg juice you get for pod systems is usually (I'm not sure if it's always) made with nic salt, which is different than freebase nic. I can't imagine 50mg freebase nic would feel like anything but a glowing-red brillo pad to the throat.

Yeah, flavorless juice works well as a palate cleanser.

It depends entirely on the flavorings. Some are weak and need 20% (TFA Wintergreen, for one), and some are incredibly strong and barely need 2%. You should look up single flavor reviews of your individual flavorings and a few recipes that use those flavorings for ideas.
-
You need Nic Salts for that, but yes. I'm vaping 25mg juice I made myself out of a Sourin Air right now.
-
Flavorless or mint.

It varies wildly as some flavors are much more potent than others. You could conceivably have a full flavored juice with less than 1% flavor and you could easily have a recipe that calls for 20% flavor. Don't worry about overall flavor %, that's an entirely meaningless number. All that matters is which %'s works for which flavors and how well the flavors work together.
#3: I mix mine about 4% to 5%. I don't like mine real sweet and also it's not as hard on the coils.
To each their own....
Well, you're right. That's an acceptable percentage when you don't want too much flavoring. It's on the lower end and it's generally what I shoot for (4%-8%). Sometimes I'll go as high as 10-12%. Really depends on different factors. These are the levels I've generally used for years.
For a long time people were telling others to go 20%+. Which is asinine and absurd. Especially in an RBA.
Though at this point, about 4 years into DIY, I honestly have begun eyeballing it. I just know how many drops I want and I've gotten lazy. I'm the only one vaping it and it works just fine for me.
- If you are going for 50mg get nic salts over freebase. I would also recommend using 100mg or even 250mg concentrations if you are mixing for a pod system, just remember that if you are going to be handling high concentrations of nicotine to PLEASE USE NITRILE GLOVES.
- I personally like to use saltines as a pallete cleanser. Eat one of them and have a drink of water before you switch flavors. Just do a quick google search though, there are plenty of suggestions out there that work just as well.
- It really depends on the manufacturer of the flavor (most manufacturers list recommended % uses, if they don't just message them on their site/fb), but Most of the time 5% is a good place to start for a single flavor and then you can adjust accordingly.
Are you sure you’re ready? Perhaps a tad more research and reading is necessary judging from questions asked... Please do use the sidebar and get all the info you can and I don’t want to discourage you, just the opposite. I want to encourage all a great big fat welcome w open arms to our awesome Diy ejuice making community, but there’s more than a little light reading involved and maybe not everyone has the time or patience, dedication and devotion this particular Diy hobby involves. So, that’s all I’m saying is please stay excited because it’s super fun and what a great community full of super smart fkn mixers willing to help us. Just please make sure we help ourselves first and do our due diligence and put in the time to really research and wrap your head around everything and then if you still need help you’re in the right place. ....;)
I've never added any nic to my juices yet, so I'll let others answer that.
For #2, some say nothing really works. For me, water, coffee and/or a citrus type juice helps get me back to tasting other juices better. I like to keep a mech mod ready to drip a lemon or pineapple juice on usually. I can vape on that for an afternoon and it seems like I can taste my other fruity juices a lot better again.
On the percentage, I made the same mistake as most noob's do. I used too much flavor in my mixes. Now, I looked up every flavor individually and try to see their recommended mix % and base it from that and what I'm trying to get from that particular flavor. My best juices and also most flavorful, have come from juices that end up with like 13% flavor total. I once read a recommendation on here about mixing your juice without sweetener and adding it later and that has worked out real well for me. I find that most don't need it but when they do, adding super sweet after it's steeped and tried out works really well. Then you can always go back and add it into the recipe for next time. I'm still learning myself but in my short time mixing, these are some things I learned from here and then the hard way because I didn't listen to the experienced folks first when I knew better.
Mixing 50mg means half your juice is likely to be your nic source, if you use 100mg/ml source. You might as well just vape unflavored at that strength.
For palate cleansing it depends what you normally vape. Unflavored, straight menthol, or straight up lemon... even a floral mix can all work, depending what you normally vape and what you plan to try next.
And there is no target percentage of total flavor, it all depends on what concentrates you use.
