I recently bought some 100mg nicotine salts in 100%Pg (for ease of use) and was worried that I had fucked up my order. Every recipe I was throwing at elr's juice calculator was coming out as unmixable (entirely too much Pg and not enough space for flavors). So I was wanting to mix up 30ml of 60Vg 40Pg 40mg salt of a juul Capone clone and it was unmixable. So I kept playing around with the calculator and found out if I lower the nicotine(the thing that has the most Pg) to say around 25 everything would work out and I wasn't entirely screwed even though I was sacrificing high nic. So for any future mixers out there buying salt nic. If you want to mix high nic (above 30) you need to get your salt nic in 50Pg/50Vg.

Or order the 250mg/ml nic salts. Or find recipes that don't require much flavor, and you could make 55VG.

Also, don't use ELR. Use ATF.

by imNAchogrlover 7 years agoKooky

How does that make sense? Why would he buy 250 when 100 doesn’t work?? Pfft ... I’m not sure why your 100mg doesn’t work, mine does but I also don’t mix nic that high... but that’s good info for those that do use salts and want to mix that high thanks!

More nicotine per ml of PG means less PG he's forced to use. Of course he can add as much PG as he wants, but the problem he's having is that he wants more VG.

How long can I store DIY liquid, I have 70/30 3mg and 50/50 12mg liquids in airtight containers, dark place at room temp 20-28 degrees Celsius max. Should I put them in the fridge or somewhere else? My fridge is going around 5 degrees Celsius.

2 points

by imNAchogrlover 7 years agoKooky

That’s a perfectly fine temp to keep them at...no worries. Air and direct sunlight and heat is not a friend to your juice but you’re fine! ...;) As far as how long..how long do you want to? Longer than a few months less than a few years? Don’t over think it it’s fine.

1 points

by Davidxcatover 7 years ago

Couple of months like 3-4, I am mostly worried about MTL juices since I made a larger batch and I vape thru like 2-3 ml of that per day sometimes less.

1 points

by imNAchogrlover 7 years agoKooky

What I have noticed is some of my fruity mixes seem to really fade after a few months. I’m not sure you can stop that or store it better to prevent that I think that’s just what happens.. wish I knew off the top of my head which ones specifically bcuz I’m looking at a strawberry kiwi one that’s been fine but I’ve picked up several lately that were pretty tasteless and I think they were likely lemon mixes and now I’m remembering citrus don’t hold up well over time so there’s that lol...maybe the other fruits will b ok 🤔 😩😂.

1 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

You should be able to store them in the fridge almost indefinitely. Basically your big problem is going to be nicotine oxidation. That should be delayed for quite a long time by refrigeration.

TFA Pistachio fading: I've been chasing pistachio flavored ejuice for a while. I see a lot of recipes with TFA and loved them...but eventually they lose something and I end up moving on.

3 points

I really like pistachio as well and I use tpa and also fa and RF... I think it’s RFSC ...But the fa and RF can be used at a lower percentage and mixed w the tpa to get a better longer lasting pistachio....;). Check out the flavor reviews for those 2 and you’ll see

Hi guys I just started trying to make my own juices. I bought 1 gallon of pg and 1 of vg. I tried to make my first liquid and it was a shame. The only concentrates brands that I have at my disposal are Loren and tpa. So I'm looking for some tips on which flavors to buy and how to mix it. And I have some questions about freebase nicotine and nicotine salts, Which one is better? Nicotine salts affects the normal recipes? . I'm starting and I really need a ton of help

cant go wrong with "mustard milk" by /u/fizzmustard

8% TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

6% TFA Strawberry

or this second recipe, "godmilk" by /u/skiddlzninja

4% TFA Strawberry Ripe

4% TFA Strawberry

3% TFA Bavarian Cream

3% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust

1% TFA Dragonfruit

I would suggest checking out alltheflavors.com and looking for some simple, highly rated recipes. There are some definitely solid and simple mixes on that website. Good luck bud.

Hi this % are for the same recipe or for a mono recipe each? And which are the pg/vg%

1 points

by garamasalaover 7 years ago

They are two recipes. 8% VBIC + 6% Strawberry + nic + PG + VG is Mustard Milk.

You can single flavour test these ingredients but the percentages indicated are meant to be used in combination with each other.

VG/PG is your preference, I think the general average is about 70/30 but it depends on your device and/or whether you like it smoother or a slight stronger taste (and possibly harsher throat hit).

LA Lemonade is probably the best of the flavors from Lorann. TFA has a number of decent flavors. TFA blackberry (in really small amounts) would mix well with the lemonade. You'll also want to cool it to get away from the NeoCitran vibe warm lemon gives. Other tfa flavors that would work with lemonade - blueberry extra, raspberry sweet, cotton candy, Honeysuckle.

Nic salts generally mute a recipe, at least in high concentration. They're good for allowing you to vape more than 3mg (on modern gear) without it being painful, but recipes that work with them are very different. Whether salts or freebase are better depends on your priorities.

1 points

by SynerONEover 7 years ago

The juice I've made was blueberry wild. 5% 70pg/30vg. No nicotine. I let it stepping for 10 days and it wasn't good. Like a bad blueberry chemical juice.

Is Blueberry extra the same as wild?

Salts mute the flavor or I miss understand?

I'm interested in nic salts not because I want a high concentration, (I vape freebase at 3 to 6% in my voopoo) because a lot of people said that is smooter than freebase.

2 points

by garamasalaover 7 years ago

70% PG? That would be quite harsh with any flavouring.

1 points

by EdibleMalfunctionover 7 years agoMixologist

Salts do not mute flavor, but 70 PG is too much

1 points

by Phatpharm269over 7 years ago

I have yet to make a good TFA blueberry. Got all 3 lol..... Wild is best but extremely muted in high VG. Their rootbeer blows. Tried em all too.

Ripe Strawberry, Acai, Grape Juice, Dragonfruit, Apple, Wintergreen, vanilla bean ice cream, Bavarian cream all have permanent spots in my TFA flav line-up.

Their Red Velvet is pretty good. Can blend a few other elements in.

TFA Juicy Peach paired well with their Black Honey.

Got FA cocao to pair with some, plus Pear cuz I love that.

I've been searching for an AJ Vapes blackcurrant mango clone recipe today, and was hoping i could run it by some more experienced mixers as it sounds .. very excessive in concentrate use

Mango (TFA) 11% Blackcurrant (TFA) 6.5% Sweetener (TFA) 6% Koolada (TFA) 4.5%

2 points

by garamasalaover 7 years ago

The consensus here is that TFA Mango is not good. 6% sweetner and 4.5% koolada seems extremely high.

3 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

4.5% koolada IS insanely high.

Note: I'm a crazy old bastard who regularly mixes 3-4% coolant mixes. I may have mixed 4.5% at some point, but that's after building up a serious tolerance. If you vape anything that isn't cooled, 4.5% will be painful.

A flavor that costs three times as much and is used at one quarter the concentration isn't actually more expensive...

1 points

by horrendover 7 years ago

If you think there's too much you could try halving all of them and making a tester. If still too much lower again. Will keep the same profile without overloading. The sweetener looks especially high but, then again, it is commercial juice

thanks dude, i'll try that

3 points

by dontpanic4242over 7 years ago

Keep in mind that if it comes out too strong and you want to reduce the flavor, you can just dilute that bottle you already made. Just double the vg/pg/nicotine and you'll end up with double juice at half the flavor.

Alternatively, you can mix the recipe as a flavor base then use that base like you would a single flavor until you find the sweet spot. Then you can do the math to find the ratio of flavors in the original to your mix so you know how to mix it as individual flavors for the next time.

by richardnixonrulesover 7 years ago

Hey guys, I've been mixing ejuice for about 2 weeks now and I'm about at my wit's end here. I've made a few simple recipes and everything is tasting pretty dry and harsh. I've let some bottles sit for about 2 weeks and they're still kind of harsh and also still very dry. I don't know what gives!

I've tested the VG (a little thick but vapes fine), VG & Flavoring (fine), and VG & flavoring & nic (maybe a little rough but not nearly as harsh as the final juices. This leads me to believe that the PG must be the culprit of the harshness and dryness, is it possible to have a bad batch of PG? I bought Froggy's fog on Amazon, which had good reviews overall.

I just looked at Froggy’s Fog. Are you using fogger machine stuff to make your juice? Don’t do that. You want USP grade propylene glycol.

by Ennerlifeover 7 years ago

Hello all,
I just started mixing to try and come up with a strawberry kiwi juice with some light menthol. I prefer spearmint for my minty flavor in food, so I picked some up for this adventure. I wanted to pass along, I got the TFA Spearmint, and at 1%, this stuff overpowers everything else in the mix. I'm going to try and lower the spearmint to something really small as I only want a little coolness to it.

My sample recipe (not good, don't try it lol):
*TFA Strawberry (8%)
*TFA Kiwi Double (3%)
*TFA Spearmint (1%)

I tried to look on all the flavors for some guidance on the percentages, but it seems few recipes use spearmint. Does anyone have some experience with it that they can share? I will continue to refine this but thought I would check and see if I can leverage someone else's learning.

Edit: Did a search, found threads in the subreddit. Should have checked first.

3 points

by dontpanic4242over 7 years ago

I don't really have any experience with TFA Spearmint but I've used the one by Capella so that may be similar. I think you may be going a little high on the Strawberry as well. Too high of a flavor can leave it changing into something that isn't so good tasting. If I were to mix this for myself, with those flavors I might try this:

  • TFA Strawberry 4%
  • TFA Kiwi Double 2%
  • TFA Spearmint 0.5%

That still may actually be a little high for some of it. Just gotta try different things until you find what works. If you haven't done so already, it may be a good idea to make some single flavor test bottles. Just mix up like 10ml of each flavor, by itself at like 3% for the Kiwi and strawberry and 1% for the spearmint. Then you can try them individually and learn how they work separately. Helps you get a better idea of how to put things together.

2 points

by Ennerlifeover 7 years ago

Thank you! I'll give that a shot. I haven't mixed up single flavor testers yet. I got impatient and mixed right away. I have mixed single flavors of Strawberry Ripe, Bavarian Cream, Vanilla Swirl, and Peach Juicy.
I'm enjoying this initial phase of just try stuff. I have accidentally discovered some real preferences I didn't know I had.

I might report back on the updated batch. Maybe tomorrow if I have time.

2 points

by dontpanic4242over 7 years ago

You can use the Strawberry Ripe and Strawberry together in a 2:1 ratio for a nice, authentic strawberry. Vanilla swirl and Bavarian cream are two other solid flavors you can get some good use out of.

1 points

by Eastside-Donkeyover 7 years ago

Anytime I mix anything with Menthol/Koolada etc... I always start out with 0.10 ml and work my way up. I think you need to add more strawberry and kiwi. Here is what I would suggest:

TFA Strawberry (Ripe) - 9%

TFA Kiwi (Double) - 6%

TFA Sweetener - 1%

TFA Spearmint - 0.25%

Strawberry Ripe tastes way better than normal strawberry and will help you achieve a flavor closer to Kanzi (Twelve Monkeys). Hope this helps!

I have made a lot of progress in DIY since making my first post on this subreddit, and I have all of you to thank. So, thank you! I appreciate it. I am making this post looking for advice or any pointers. I am trying to make a Watermelon, Honeydew, cantaloupe bubblegum! One thing I am aiming for and need is stronger on the watermelon. Was thinking of upping that!

I usually follow recipes, this is one of my first times making my own, so go easy on me (;

LA Bubblegum - 3%
Koolada - .25%
FW Hard Candy - .75%
FA Marshmallow - .5%
FA Watermelon - 1%
LA Watermelon - 1.75%
FW Watermelon - 1.75%
FLV Wild Melon - 1%

I know that may be quite a few flavorings, and maybe I should cut down, but my thinking is that the three watermelons and the wild melon will mix nicely. Also, The Marshmallow is used as more of a sweetener here. The koolada has no flavor, and the Hard candy is more of a Sweetness.

Appreciate it! going to work more on it tomorrow! Mixed up a 30ml and wicked up my RTA. (=

3 points

by kindgroundover 7 years ago

You're doing well here and being cautious. FW Hard Candy can taste like hairspray any higher than you're using it.

FA Marshmallow and Watermelon and the FLV melons are probably good where you have it as well.

The only thing I may change is upping that LA Watermelon to about 4% to get the most out of it. I may also drop the FLV Watermelon altogether.

1 points

by Champagneshallowover 7 years ago

Awesome, thanks!

Good to hear!

I will most definitely try that! I thought about trying adding some dragonfruit to help out the watermelon. Probably going to mix up a 5ml tester just to see!

I don’t have FLV Watermelon in there. Which watermelon did you mean?

I ordered some RF Watermelon coming in soon. Also have some other flavors coming in. They are:

TFA Bavarian cream TFA Coconut Extra FA Forest Fruit TFA Pear INW Shisha Strawberry CAP Sugar cookie CAP Sweet Mango CAP Vanilla Custard

A lot of those are for recipes, but I think I may be able to use maybe, the pear, sweet mango, forest fruit or strawberry in there! (:

Looking at some old flavor reviews I read that Jungle Flavors was ECX. But I thought FE was ECX. Flavor notes for FE Lemon and and JF Juicy Lemon seem to be very similar. Are they the same? If not, which should I pick?

I kinda thought they were the same too...I have jf juicy and plain lemon and they’re great!

1 points

by ChemicalBurnVictimover 7 years agoresident tobacco expert

As far as I know, they are different flavors. Jungle Flavors seems to have a deal worked out with ECX where they are sold exclusively through them, but the FE flavors are different. FE flavors can be found at different sites, usually labeled as Super Concentrates. It gets a little tricky to tell exactly where they come from, but /u/dumaecr did some investigative work a while back and looks like they tracked it down to a Chinese company named Xi’an Taima.

But for your real question about the lemons, I’m afraid I can’t help :/

Oh god, it’s the second time I’m missing your comment 😕 I’m pretty sure they’re Xian + Russian Baker (eg yuco, klondike, etc.). In Europe, THJ (France) sells iirc both lines and Arome Team (France) sells the Xian tobacco line. There are some other places as well but can’t really remember at the moment: in Poland and in Germany.

Worth noting, in Russia, these flavors are really cheap but it’s really hard to find a place selling internationally.

I'm pretty sure I'm set on ingredients etc, pg(no palm oil), vg, flavour concentrates, bottles, gloves.

My fiance and I are currently boarding at my folks house while we wait for our new place to be ready and I was discussing making my own juice with my mother. She's concerned about cleanup regarding the nicotine. We're out in the country so we have a septic tank.

Can I just use anti bacterial wipes and Chuck them in the bin? I'm planning on using salt and freebase depending on availability.

That's my only concern though is clean up.

Apart from that I'll just need to mix and steep.

1 points

by Lulzorrover 7 years ago

if you're careful you really shouldn't be spilling nic at all but in the event you do anti-bacterial wipes and binning them should be okay. maybe keep it separate from regular trash so there's no chance of coming into contact with it.

to prevent spillage try using a separate 30ml dropper bottle for dispensing. This way you can drop as much nic as you think you'll use in a week or two and freeze the rest of it.

1 points

by KarmaChameleon89over 7 years ago

Out of curiosity how much does it cost you per litre of juice to diy?

2 points

by OdieDoodahover 7 years ago

Using "ballpark guess" numbers . . .

  • 150ml of 100mg/ml nic = $10

  • 1 gal of VG = $15

  • 1 liter of PG = $10

  • 50 x 10ml of flavor = $100

In addition - you'd need to add the cost of bottles, scale, gloves, etc - but that would be minimal.

  • The price would go up a bit if you buy smaller quantities of nic/vg/pg

  • The price would go down if you bought larger bottles of flavor.

That comes to approx $135 for supplies that will make 5 liters of 3mg juice at 70vg/30pg and 10% flavor - or about $27 / liter.

I've made a quick and dirty breakdown from a couple of my recipes plus Ardent by loonicorn (sorry, I've forgotten your reddit username) here.

As you can see, it can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be. There are certain concentrates that will really bump up the cost of a mix (i'm looking at you FLV), but those are generally ones that you won't use a huge amount of, so the cost evens out.

One of my favourite mixes, Capella Custard V1 @ 8% steeped for a month, is ridiculously cheap at £21.41 per 1000ml. Let's compare that to a popular premium custard juice. Digby's Mum's custard is £14.99/50ml. So that's £301.79 for 1000ml. Oh, and £1.99 delivery.

Quite the difference there. You may be able to see why some of us have chosen to DIY. Then you have the benefit of being able to control what goes into your juice, and at what levels. It's really a no brainer as far as I'm concerned.

So I have 2 questions:

The first : how do you add a certain juicyness to recipes? Specifically fruit flavours. Every fruit recipe I've mixed up has, for the most part, tasted decent, but over 50% have no juicy mouthfeel like you get from store bought juice (take naked for example) they're just a dry vapour. Is it like an additive or sweetener that helps add that juicy feel to Fruity recipes?

I read somewhere that cactus might help thicken the mouthfeel, does that work? And if so which company would have the best cactus?

The second question is about ethyl maltol crystals. I searched it up and there only seems to be differing opinions from 4ish years ago so I want to be sure.

Some said 1g of crystals in 10mL of PG, would that be the correct ratio? And if so does only pure PG work? I tried 1:10 in a 70/30 base and it wouldn't dissolve very much in fact it's still sitting in a bottle with a ton of crystals left in the bottom after 2ish weeks.

Thanks in advance for the help folks!

INW Cactus is what you are looking for. TFA Marshmallow also helps for mouthfeel.

Slightly warm the PG (just PG. not VG)

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm assuming that the INW Cactus and the TFA Marshmallow would probably be better at lower percentages so as not to mess up the flavours? Say 1% or so?

They are required to give me feedback. Acquaintances aren't required to give feedback, just cash.

I would calculate cost of bottles, vg/pg flavor and if nic - plus what extra like 10 bucks per 30 for the mixing work? A little lower that commercial so that they return.

$10 for 30 mls? I would be pissed at my friend for ripping me off

But lately, people can buy commercial juice for $15 for 60ml. or less, depending what site they go to.

I give away a lot of free juice <30ml and then require that people decide what they like and buy bigger bottles of it. The time it takes to mix becomes the reason you'll want to charge more and the difference between mixing a 30ml bottle or 120ml is nominal, where as the difference between mixing 1 30ml and 4 30ml's isn't.

Also taking requests and customizing seems fun at first and can be until you get dozens of people who want juice but never know what they want or start asking you to clone things. Better to pick a few recipes you know are good and sell those.

> people who want juice but never know what they want

Man, that’s so annoying. This guy at work will tell me he wants some new juice because he’s getting tired of what he has. Has no clue what he wants. Doesn’t even know if he wants fruity, bakery, or tobacco.

I do free samplers. 8oz for $50

Stores here are still $15+ per 1oz (30ml) and have stupid amounts of sucralose.

Did a recent freezing vodka / stevia leaf extraction and use a few drops of the reduced liquid per bottle.

My 5gal pail if coco coop VG is nearing its end tho. Few years for $150 ain't bad, specially since the usual shit is GMO soy based.

Don’t know where you are but I charged my cousin $20 for about 200 ml...or more, stupid cheap. And that was like 7 -30 ml of different recipes... I often give out free 5, 10 ml samples. But, unless you know ppl want to buy it don’t bother it’s a pia...lol..

I live in Canada so my costs are slightly higher but I charge 1 for $10 or 3 for $20 ($25 depending on how well I know you) at $30 per 30ml in local shops, my friends and family are thrilled with the pricing. It also helps pay for additional flavors so you can get more and more creative!

I feel so stupid asking this, but i bought some cheap empty bottles with tips (https://www.wickandwireco.com.au/collections/diy-e-juice/products/ldpe-plastic-bottles) and i cant open them! well i can get the cap on and off, but cant get the internal tip part out. it seems like its stuck inside the cap. Am i missing something? It's definitley user error as i have several. Please be kind.

Edit: solved. It was something ridiculously stupid

1 points

by garamasalaover 7 years ago

Fully unscrew the cap, then twist it horizontally (like the direction to make the cap 90 degrees to the bottle), the inner part should pop out. Can take a couple of tries sometimes.

Are there any windows/linux programs that "do it all", as in a recipe database, mix calculator, inventory tracking, flavour notes?

1 points

by skotchnyover 7 years ago

This one has worked for me - http://diyjuicecalculator.com/

1 points

by garamasalaover 7 years ago

If there is somewhere you can download recipe reviews and notes you could create an excel/libreoffice document to do all that. Not sure if excel can query from online sources for the flavour notes (wouldn't surprise me if you can) but you could easy do inventory and mix calculators. It would be just reinventing the wheel though really, why not just use reddit/ELR/ATF for review/notes and ELR for you own mixes?

Thanks, Im am sure I will be visiting those sites, but I also wanted to have something that doesn't rely on the internet. Sometimes the internet gets disrupted, so I would rather have recipes stored on ny own server.

thanks. i will check it out. So far i've looked at ejuicemeup, which looks pretty good, but doesn't track inventory or steep times.

Can I follow the % on flavors for a 70VG/30PG recipe but mixing at max VG or should I up the percentages a bit?

I'm somewhat allergic to PG and would like to reduce it.

2 points

by EdibleMalfunctionover 7 years agoMixologist

Try the same percentage first in a small test batch. It’s really going to depend on the flavors used, but increase 2-3% if it’s not working for you.

Usually vape 10% Loran pinacolada as I'm lazy, all my regular stores are out though. Anyone got a good mix of there pineapple+coconut? They still have them in stock. Thank you.

Liquid Barn's Pina Colada is quite tasty on it's own as well if you're still lazy. Sprinkling some of JF/FA/INW "strawberry trinity" makes for an excellent mix. Sorry if you don't like strawberry >.< but the Pina Colada is good.

Is anyone aware of a DIY or company made juice resembling a tropical or mango-flavored cereal? This is an idea I've been kicking around in my head for awhile, especially since I haven't seen an attempt made in my searches, and was just curious if there was anything I could look to for inspiration (aside from non-tropical cereal vapes.)

This one is pretty awesome and somewhat tropical with the Guanabana in there, but could probably be used as a template to making something more tropical.

Greetings! Last week I found a DIY site that allowed the user to enter onto a webform all of the flavors in ones collection, and the site returned a list of recipes using the listed flavors. For the life of me, I can't recall which site. Can anyone help? I promise to book mark it this time!

Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed that a lot recipes are on the low side for concentrates do these juices still taste good in a sub ohm tank or are they more for rebuildables?

2 points

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

Most recipes are for sub-ohming and you don't adapt a recipe to a specific atomizer unless it's for a low power, pod-style device.

Percentages are more a factor of the ingredients, where using very strong concentrates means you don't need much of each (<1%), while using weak concentrates means going much higher (+5%).

1 points

by tinopazz1988over 7 years ago

So for mtl devices, 1 ohm and up I adjust the recipes, how do I adjust them?

1 points

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

Depends a bit on the recipes and flavors, but MTL devices are best used with simple recipes using just a few ingredients bumped up by 50-100%. I really enjoy FA Forest Fruit solo at 4% MTL, or a mint+fruit/berry combo. The classic strawberry and cream two component mix works great.

TFA Vanilla Swirl is the DX version of TFA Vanilla Custard? Like Gelato is for VBIC? I had never heard that before, but comparing the ingredients, they are the same except for the diketones. I've never tried TFA Vanilla Custard, so it's basically a more buttery Vanilla Swirl?

2 points

by imNAchogrlover 7 years agoKooky

That’s kinda the way the website describes it and as I understand it too yes...;) However, I believe the french vanilla deluxe is the preferred sub over the swirl but w diketones... ( not positive really about the diketones in the deluxe ) too busy to look it up atm but I will and edit

1 points

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

Oh, right you are, they even spell it out :) Interesting, Swirl with diketones sounded tempting, but Deluxe sounds even better. I've heard great things about Deluxe but never got around to picking it up (and yes it has diketones). Cheers!

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Consider that the ingredients may be the same, but the ratio being different is possible. For example... if I gave you water, flour, butter, eggs, salt, and sugar you could use all of them to make several quite different things depending on how much of each you used.

2 points

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

That is a good point, tweak the percentages and the outcome is vastly different.

Alright so I decided that I'm going to start making some DIY juice because I want to save money and it looks fun, but I've still got some questions that I haven't seen answered in the sidebar/wiki.

  1. Does it matter what strength nicotine I get? I imagine it probably shouldn't matter too much because I'd just mix different strength nic in different amounts, but I just want to check. I'll be making pretty low nic juice (1-3mg) if that makes any difference.
  2. I'm going to be mixing by weight, could I get away with just getting some pipettes to use for that? Or should I put everything into smaller containers with droppers and mix that way?
  3. As far as flavors go, I don't want to go too crazy for my first batch so I feel like I should get small amounts of like 4 - 6 flavors. I gathered from the sidebar that lots of people like the TFA Strawberry Ripe and TFA Dragon Fruit so I was planning on getting those, and my favorite juice I vape right now is Redwood Cathedral Eureka (which is this juice with Mango flavoring) so I was thinking I should get Mango, Cucumber, and/or Hibiscus flavor to see if I might be able to come close to recreating it. Would that be a bad idea?
  4. I didn't see anywhere in the sidebar about this (I may have totally missed it) but what are good sites to order from? I've seen people talking about Nic River, Bull City, Wizard Labs, etc. and it seems like people have vastly different experiences ordering from these sites. Ideally I'd like to get as much as possible from as few sites as possible to save on shipping, but if there are some that are better than others for certain reasons I'd like to know that and I haven't seen it discussed much. When I searched this sub for specific names of vendor sites it seemed like people had both good and bad experiences at almost every one. It seems like Wizard Labs has almost everything I want to get (nic, vg/pg, and flavor) but I saw a few posts on here about peoples cards getting compromised after ordering from them. I'd love to use Bull City since I read good things about it but they only have flavors and I'd like to get nic and vg/pg at the same time as well. It seems like Nic River has most of what I need and also I see relatively good things about them but I feel like I read something bad about them on here recently (though I may be getting that confused with another vendor and actually read something good about Nic River shortly after I saw something bad about somewhere else). Would it be a bad idea to just order my nic, vg/pg, and flavor all from Nic River?
  5. Would it be a bad idea to mix some batches in my leftover (empty, obviously) bottles of old juice? I'd rinse them out first of course, but I feel like that could be a good way to start because I have quite a few of them lying around. I'll probably pick up some extra bottles as well but I just want to know if I can reuse old ones from other flavors or not.

Anyways, thanks very much in advance for taking the time to help me out. I'm really stoked to get into mixing my own juice and I'm sure I'll have more questions as time goes on but I think that's it for now. Any other advice for beginning DIY'ers would be greatly appreciated though!

by EdibleMalfunctionover 7 years agoMixologist

1 . Order 100 mg/ml in PG. Ordering a high concentration ensures you’ll be able to mix any amount, and that it will last a long time.

2 . Plastic pipettes are perfect for weight. Make sure you are getting a proper scale.

3 . You should focus on finding some good recipes first, then order flavors based on those. No substitutions. Ordering from the popular flavors list is also a good idea though, If that’s what you want to do. Look at FLV Mango, CAP Cucumber and TFA Hibiscus.

4 . Wizard Labs is the only one in your list I’ve heard bad things about. I believe you are confusing Nicotine River with Nude Nicotine.

5 . You can do this. As long as they are glass. Plastic retains flavors too much. You may want to pick up some 10ml bottles for testing purposes.

Why PG for the nic?

VG based is a pain to work with. You could also get 50/50 if you wanted

Does anyone know the weight of this base for 1 ml? Thanks!

1 points

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

If it's 70% VG, then 1.1934 grams / ml.
If it's 70% PG, then 1.1046 grams / ml.

Anyone else here use nicotine salt when mixing for sub-ohm use? If so what is your nicotine dosage? I've been vaping at a 6 mg/ml when I use nicotine salts and 3 mg/ml when I use freebase nicotine. I'm trying get an idea of where other people like their nicotine % at that mix with nicotine salts for sub-ohm use. Also, anyone try mixing with freebase nicotine and nicotine salts in the same batch of e-juice or know a calculator that would allow me to have 2 different nicotine solutions in the same batch?

Thanks for your time reading and any input you might provide.

1 points

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

I've only tried salts MTL and it's not really for me, I get nothing more from it and I need my throat hit, so I mix it with freebase. The math is no different than normal, you just add two rounds of nic. It might be hard to find a calculator for that though.

Say you want a 50 ml batch with 20 mg/ml salts and 10 mg/ml freebase, both using 100 mg/ml sources. Then you'd add 50 * 20 / 100 = 10 ml of salts and 50 * 10 / 100 = 5 ml of freebase. The total amount of nic comes out to (50 * 20) + (50 * 10) = 1500 mg / 50 ml = 30 mg/ml (or simply 20 + 10 ;).

1 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Yeah, but that doesn't help unless he's memorized the specific gravity of his nic sources.
