Hi guys, really new newbie here. I bought some 20 NIC full vg juice and 1 liter PG, how would you suggest I mix them to put in an Aspire Breeze? And about the PG, can I cold extract tobacco aroma by leaving it in PG for like 2 months and then filter it in coffee filters, or is it bullshit?

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

There are a number of people who've done extractions on tobacco. A few points to consider: not cigarette tobacco
not Copenhagen or chewing tobacco
not certain pipe tobacco

Basically, you want to avoid tobacco that has had additives mixed in. And then you really want to filter well. Really well.

Easier to just buy professionally done flavors.

As to your mixing, it depends on what concentration you want. Assuming 10% flavoring (just for the math, not because there's a set percentage of flavor to use) your highest possible nicotine level is 18mg/ml, with a 90/10 VG/PG ratio. With an insanely high PG content (45/55 VG/PG) you'd have 9mg/ml nic.

Welp, I guess I will vape unflavoured ejuice then, since I only have Aromatic pipe blends and Drum Original cigarette tobacco

Why don't you just buy some tobacco flavours?

1 points

by ChemicalBurnVictimover 7 years agoresident tobacco expert

The aromatics should be fine, but you’ll likely not get very much of the topping flavor. I’ve done some bourbon pipe tobacco and it just came out tasting like the tobacco without the bourbon. Going cold you could get decent enough results from one month. Then get an Aeropress and some 2.5 micron filters. Do a pass on the coffee filter and then a pass on the 2.5 micron.

It’s easier to buy NET, but way cheaper to DIY, and you’ll get similar results. Not sure about the Drum tobacco, but if you do some research you might find some answers on that. I’ve used American Spirits tobacco before.

1 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Or... you can get some commercial NETs. Or go buy a couple cigars (I'd suggest a TeAmo and a Don Tomas so you had some variety, and maybe a Macanudo if you want a third) to do extractions with. Or research the pipe tobacco you have, and make sure there's nothing added.

Or order some flavors. FLV Red Burley, INW Black for Pipe, INW AM4A, etc...

Greetings, I live in the United States and was looking to place an order on Chefs. Im looking for flavours not generally sold by U.S. vendors e.g. FA Milk. The flavours I tend to like are candies, creams, desserts, and fruits, tobacco not so much. Thanks for your input!

3 points

by chewymidgetover 7 years agoThe Colonel

The main advantage of someone from the US ordering from them is to get the Baking line from Flavourart. Which FANA won't sell to US customers because they have decided what is good for you. You know, got to save you from yourself. Things like

FA Custard Premium

FA Milk

FA Whipped Cream

So on are things to grab. Anything that has the this in the description is probably worth grabbing from them.

> This flavor contains Diacetyl and/or related diketones. Not suitable for vaping.

SolubArome is also sold by them, a French company. I've only ever bought their Breakfast flavoring so I don't have any to recommend. They seem to be more miss than hit though. Better flavors to invest into in my opinion.

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

WS-5 You may want their Devon Cream. SA Irish Coffee was popular with one of my testers. SA Toast is useful if you'd ever vape something that had a toast element. Also their Flavor Creative (rebranded FA which is slightly more price friendly) and Xpress Flavors (rebranded FE) may be worthwhile... remember the price of shipping is a flat rate, so you want to make a fairly large order...

3 points

by dragandeewhyover 7 years ago

How does it get to that?

I do not buy anymore that you have overflavoured the juice or just let it steep and it will go away or ..it is my vapor tongue.

Certain tobacco concentrates would consistently give me that taste ...no matter what procentage I would use them. Others would give the promised flavour (strong or weak) no matter what procentage I would use it.

It has nothing to do with gear I use or coils or wattage.

Can you give some examples of flavors and what percentage you’re using them at?

1 points

by dragandeewhyover 7 years ago

i usually go for3% to 5%...

i can not tell out of my head now... flavourarts perique was my biggest disappointment i am constanly getting that pepery flavour...innaweras dark fire... bestuk..westernvirginia..tfa mild black..some of them

all my conc. stay in a dark cool place...

I am more interested how it happens...here in reviews i would read that some would get the rigth flavor while others would write that they are having the same experience as i do.

2 points

by ChemicalBurnVictimover 7 years agoresident tobacco expert

If I’m understanding you correctly, you’re using FA Perique Black and INW Dark Fire between 3% and 5%? You’ll probably not want to do that. Try like .5% on the Perique and 1% on the Dark Fire.

Also should note that Perique will be peppery because it’s supposed to imitate Perique tobacco, which is fermented so it has a peppery taste. Use the flavor the same way pipe smokers use real Perique- just a little bit in a mix to add a little kick.

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Certain flavors are prone to turning into perfume when they're used at too high a concentration. Some just linearly scale up to taste stronger but still like what they taste like normally, but they seem to be the less common. Use the proper percentage for each flavor and you shouldn't taste like perfume. If you find your mix tastes like perfume, some flavor is being used at too high a concentration. Or, you have two similar flavors that both contain one of those 'perfume' volatiles, which is at too high a concentration due to the combined amount. An example.... mix INW Lemon Mix and FA Lemon Sicily and even though both are inside the use able range, you'll get lemon pledge prior to a steep.

I have already concocted a few good juices that I enjoy, but I have a questions about modifying recipes. Let's say I make a juice, let it steep for two weeks, but I think it needs a bit more vanilla, can I just add more flavor to an already steeped juice then let it sit for a bit longer? Or should I just craft up a whole new batch?

1 points

by EdibleMalfunctionover 7 years agoMixologist

Yes, you can do that, as long as your are keeping track of what you are adding in.

/u/juthinc I have just got around to making a single flavour test of Solube Arome's Black Tea. I mixed it at 10% (as they suggest 10-15%) and as a shake and vape it is surprisingly pleasant. It tastes like sweetened black tea, there is a particular brand or type it reminds me of but I can't think of it. Doesn't taste very earthy past what actual tea tastes like and I can see it working really well in an iced lemon tea or something like that, tastes very slightly citrusy to me already. Not sure if it would work in the direction of chai but I could be wrong, definitely has that sweet note. It's not bad at all just as a single flavour.

3 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Good to know. You got it from chef's? (I don't think I want to order direct again any time soon. Especially if it's so weak as you say... it's cost is effectively 5-10× what a more typical 1-2% use rate would have...) Still, a good flavor to use to make a sweet tea or Arnold Palmer would be handy.

2 points

by garamasalaover 7 years ago

No, I got it as a freebie from rainbowvapes but they don't sell that particular one strangely. Maybe they can get it if you contact them, they sell others of that brand. I need to test it more but does seem fairly weak. It's nice though, from first impressions I would gladly vape it alone and probably enjoy it more than many of the recipes I've mixed.

2 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Even at 10%, I suppose it isn't a bad choice... .1% INW Lemon Mix and a percent or so of cooling compounds is probably enough to have a finished product. Anyhow, I'll keep it in mind for the next time I see it available.

Your experience with the flavor is all that matters. As long as you're describing what you taste the best you can, I'll put it in the review wiki.

Howdy - I am new to DIY and about to make my first order. The shop I am buying from sells a 100ml bottle of 36mg/ml nicotine. Their shop says (translated into English):

"6mg: Take 10ml of 36mg of tasteless base solution plus 50ml of VG or PG without concentration or mixed base solution. Mix and shake."

However, the shop only sells empty 30ml bottles, and that's the size of juice bottle I plan to start making juice with before I am know my skills are strong enough to make larger batches. If I divide their instructions in half to for a 30ml bottle, I get:

3mg: Take 5ml of 36mg of tasteless base solution plus 25ml of VG or PG

That would mean: 36mg*5ml = 180mg/30ml = 6mg per ml.

As far as I understand, I just put 5ml of 36mg/ml solution directly into my recipe and add the 25ml of other juice/flavor to have a 30ml bottle at 6mg, right?

6mg juice is fine, but with an ADV I would prefer about 1mg.

Is this math correct?

36mg*1ml = 36mg/30ml = 1.2mg per ml.

Or am I supposed to cut those stuff into a weaker base? I mean 36mg/ml gives me enough leeway to mix directly, as opposed to 100mg/ml. I tried Googling this, which led me to forums full of different ideas and people talking about using apps that confused me even more.

3 points

by omgcomeonidiotover 7 years ago

Putting emphasis on the word PER makes the math easy. If you want 3mg PER ml as your final mixture in a 30ml bottle, that bottle should contain 90mg of nicotine total (30x3). Your nicotine is 36mg per ml and you want to pour 90mg of nicotine into your 30ml bottle. So 90/36 = 2.5 ml of nicotine. Every 2.5ml of your nicotine solution contains 90mg of nicotine which is how much you want inside of a 30ml bottle of final product to arrive at a 3mg bottle of juice.

If you want 6mg final mixture, 6mg/ml x 30ml = 180mg. 180mg / 36mg/ml = 5ml of nicotine solution.

The two examples above will hopefully clear things up for you.

by puddlebuttover 7 years ago

Thank you for breaking that down for me. That makes it a lot easier to understand. I am not such a big fan of nicotine at this point in my vaping "life," so I am trying to keep the numbers really low. However, these multiplication methods will also come in handy if my half-smoker-half-vaper friend wants me to increase the nic content.

2 points

by garamasalaover 7 years ago

Not sure about the maths but you can just use an online calculator like e-liquid-recipes or alltheflavors, that will allow you to change the percentage you want and give the right amounts accordingly.

You might want to get some 10ml bottles first, 30ml is a lot to waste if your recipes tastes like arse.

2 points

by puddlebuttover 7 years ago

Thank you. I think you're right about the size. I ordered six 10ml bottles to get started ,and hopefully that will help me learn the ropes of mixing. I tried the calculators, but then I realized I didn't know what my base was going to be, or how exactly the base works, so I thought I would do the math myself first and ask here so I could see how the numbers correspond in the total amounts listed. Now I get it!

2 points

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

30 mg divided by 36 mg/ml = 0.83 ml of nic base for 1 mg/ml strength.

If you were to get 100 mg/ml, it's 30/100 = 0.3 ml, still easy to measure.

2 points

by puddlebuttover 7 years ago

Hey, thank you for the help. The 100mg/ml looks like the easier option, so I may just go with that to save money.

How much extra precautions should I use with stronger nicotine base? I've been using 48mg concentration for my juice but the most recent bottle I bought, I got 100mg concentration.

My process with the nicotine is generally to decant into a 25ml plastic squeeze bottle for my working nicotine. I use plastic pipettes to transfer the base to the working bottle. Then use that to fill my individual bottles as I mix them. I don't use gloves or ppe for any of this, just caution and a steady hand. Occasionally I may get a tiny spot of liquid on my hand that I wipe off within a few seconds.

I'm more worried about eyes than my hands. But I've never really been messy with my mixing and I'm cautious with where I'm pointing those bottles tips when I squeeze.

Should I be worrying about any extra ppe for this higher concentration? What kind of ppe, if any, do you guys use? Do you do anything different when you mix juices compared to decanting nicotine into smaller containers?

3 points

by ChemicalBurnVictimover 7 years agoresident tobacco expert

Personally, I wouldn’t be too worried about the difference. Important to remember that the 100 mg is per mL. So if one drop is roughly .02 mL, there’s only 2 mg of nicotine in the drop. As long as you’re not spilling a large amount on yourself and just leaving it, you’ll be fine.

I just got liquid barn order in and broke 1 gallon of VG out into smaller glass amber bottles. Was I supposed to shake it up before pouring? It didn't say shake well on the VG jug but it says shake well on my 500ml bottles of PG. I know you need to shake nic and flavorings though.

3 points

by EdibleMalfunctionover 7 years agoMixologist

Not necessarily. I do as a habit. But you also don’t really need to break up the VG into amounts that small.

How many people here have used U4EA concentrates from Aussie Ecigs before? I've got a few and really like them. Any recommendations on other good flavours or recipes?

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

I'm guessing you're from Oz. It's kinda difficult to make suggestions without knowing your preferred profiles. I like beverage juices, and Vape Train has a number of alcohol flavors I really want to acquire based on reports from someone I trust. But outside of beverages, they don't have many good flavors. And I don't know how difficult or expensive ordering direct from Inawera would be for you. Buy enough to defray shipping costs to a reasonable amount per flavor, and it shouldn't be a problem. But... Inawera is great for tobacco, there's some good beverage flavors (including a number of fruit flavors) and a kickass Elderflower (technically a floral flavor, which they do well, but I use mainly for beverage mixes).

Hi guys, I've been vaping for about 4 or 5 years now and through the journey I am at a point where I make my own coils (tri-core aliens) and have ventured balls deep into DiY.

With that background I know what unsteeped and old liquid past it's prime tastes like. For the past few months I have been trying to nail down a simple vanilla custard recipe (ala Killer Kustard). I had been having some success and noting what percentage seemed to strong/weak and tweaking the next batch however a few weeks ago I started getting this annoying taste in my mouth and liquid. I will run down what I believe was the root cause but I am still getting it in the morning and throughout the day.

So in an attempt at being frugal I was rinsing my 100ml chubby bottles and made the mistake of using a soap that had some kind of moisturizer in it. Needless to say I could tell immediately after filling it and vaping. So those all got tossed.

I also ran out of cotton bacon so I ordered some Japanese organic cotton pads, which I had used before, and I still get this dull, bitter, papery taste throughout the day.

I've remade juices with inw custard instead of cap V1 to see if that was it but it was still there. I got new bottles of pg and vg and no luck. I've made a replaced the coils in all my RDAs and cleaned them to no avail.

Anyone have any experience with this? The only thing left I want to try is order some more cotton back and see if maybe there was some oils on the cotton I got or see if my medications may be causing it, although I've been taking them for years and never had this.

3 points

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

No need to use soap when you clean things unless they are actually dirty, if it's just e-liquid then rinsing in water will suffice. There could still be traces of that soap in your tank if you didn't clean it thoroughly and replace the coil.

Although this sounds more like an issue with your palate. Sometimes it can get affected in a way that takes a long time to diminish, but shocking it with strong minty flavors or rinsing your sinuses with saline may help. And you should avoid custards and similar flavors for a while.

Sometimes it's part mental, where your mind has come to associate one flavor with another and starts to invoke the perception of one of the flavors when it senses the other, even though it isn't there.

And lastly, your perception of flavors can change over time, sometimes suddenly after a bad experience. The dull, bitter, papery taste you describe sounds like what I get from acetyl pyrazine. I didn't get that at first, but now I can't stand it. Which in turn means I can barely use two flavors I used to love, FA Cookie and CAP Sugar Cookie, because all I get is that weird off note. And all I get from cereal flavors is cardboard. I assume I used to be blissfully unaware of the off note before, but now my nose has learned to pick it out anywhere, ruining the experience of some flavors.

1 points

by Laplacelolover 7 years ago

Yeah I learned that if just water doesn't get it clean then I'll just replace the bottle :P

1 points

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

Yup =) For expensive things, like hardware, you can use alcohol. Though you'll dry out the o-rings.

As for the issue, what you could do is either single flavor test the concentrates in whatever recipe you're mixing or look for the common denominator if you experience it in multiple recipes. My guess is that you can narrow the cause down to a single concentrate that you can then avoid.

1 points

by lNTERLINKEDover 7 years agoI did not ask for this flair.

I would disassemble your tank and dump all of the pieces in a mix of isopropyl alcohol and water. Swish it for 30 seconds and rinse with plenty of water until no alcohol odour remains. That will rule out the tank being the problem.

I would also give your bottles a quick alcohol rinse, just to be sure.

Greetings and quick question: I have a 50/50 base, 20mg nic shots and different flavors. If I'm using e-liquid-recipes or ATF for recipes, everything I mix does taste bland or is hurting my throat (not much, it is bearable but not nice). What can I do if I want to get a good Liquid out of it? Don't say "buy other base" I still got about 400ml base xD

3 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Buy some straight VG. That way you can reduce the PG in the mix. PG irritates every throat (some crave the pain, some can't stand it, and then there's everyone in between) but some are more sensitive than others.

Avoid recipes from elr, stick to ATF.

Those two tips should improve things.

2 points

by omgcomeonidiotover 7 years ago

Poor tasting juice is a recipe problem and I can't help you there because all I do is make bad recipes, but most hobbyist vapers will tell you that a 6mg, <50% VG juice is probably going to be a bit throaty assuming you direct lung hit. You're probably close to 70 or even 80% PG. I would start by dropping the nicotine a little. Maybe 4mg? If you are a MTL vaper though, I don't really know because I can comfortably vape 12 and 18mg just fine and that tends to be a sweet spot for most others.

1 points

by ph1lover 7 years ago

I am a mtl vaper and normal 6mg liquids aren't that harsh for my throat.

1 points

by Cheapeauxover 7 years ago

What is the nicotine concentration of your base and of your final product? And what type of setup are you vaping on - sub-ohm mod with tank or RDA, pod system, etc.?

1 points

by ph1lover 7 years ago

Oh I'm sorry. 6mg would be the final product.

2 points

by Cheapeauxover 7 years ago

That might be a bit high for the harsh taste, especially if your juice is >30% PG. you can either try dropping the nicotine level or use nicotine salts to smooth out the harshness. You can buy nicotine salts, but you can also convert the freebase nicotine you have to salts using benzoic acid if you prefer not to waste your base.

Try a recipe that is highly regarded like Bronuts, Sugar Cookies and Cream, or Mustard Milk, and see if you get better results with your flavor issue.

For those who mix by weight, what do you use to shake and stir your juice from the bottle? Stir bars are for beakers and vortex mixers are way too expensive. Was looking at the IKEA milk frother but it looks like milk frothers don't have the torque to mix vg.

Hi guys. I am looking to get in to diy. Right now I am a dual user after being 6 months analog free. I just can't seem to find the right set up this time around.

I know it is possible to dilute juices to help step down. I believe my problem was I stepped down to quick. Went from 6mg/ml to 3 mg/ml in a matter of 3 months and thought I had a handle on it. Then I went back to 6 and everything feel apart. I was also going thru a stressful transition at work. However, how hard would it be to step down by halves? Say I want to start out at 9mg/ml as my nic level. Would it he possible when the time is right to diy a 8.5 mg/ml. I just want to make sure I am not doing anything wrong. Thank you in advance

3 points

by isuamadogover 7 years ago

Diy calculators will make mixing exactly your nic levels very simple. I went down by 1mg at a time from 6-1 and even sometimes at 0.5 at a time. Go for it. These days I mostly vape at 0.5 DTL and 6mg MTL.

If you use alltheflavors.com or e-liquidrecipes.com either one will allow you to add flavors to your flavor stash online and then when you choose to mix a recipe, it will have you input numbers including strength of nic and pg/vg ratios. After that (assuming you have a scale) you just mix by weight and move on with your life. Vape away!

So I recently took a look at how much money I'm spending on juice and it shocked me, so I want to get into DIY (also it seems fun and a good way to mix it up a bit). I found this kit (https://wholesale.heartlandvapes.com/diy-kit.html) in the sidebar which seems great for the price, but I want to mix by weight because it seems easier and more accurate. Would it be a good idea to buy that kit and a scale, or should I just buy everything separately? I'd love to get most of it from the same place for the sake of convenience, but if I'd be wasting money doing it that way I'm happy to buy it separately. Or should I just buy the kit and forget the scale for now?

Also, any other tips for a first timer would be greatly appreciated! I've read the sidebar so I have some idea of what to expect but I could always use some more knowledge. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

2 points

by lNTERLINKEDover 7 years agoI did not ask for this flair.

The kit looks ok, but really it would be better to get everything separately. There are things in there that you won't need if you're going to mix by weight (which you should, it's objectively the best way to mix).

The syringes are going to be largely useless, as most flavours and bottles will have droppers on them. The PG/VG bottles are small, I usually buy a litre of each and that lasts me a good while. A good thing to do with PG/VG is buy sauce bottles and decant into those for dispensing. The one I linked comes with a mini funnel which can come in handy.

You'll probably end up making three orders; scale/sauce bottles/bottles for finished product from amazon, a flavour/VG/PG order from bullcityflavours or similar and a nic order from one of the vendors in the sidebar.

I'm assuming you're from the U.S. if not, let me know and I can help you find a good vendor for each of your supplies.

1 points

by penatbaterover 7 years ago

Tbh the kit looks bad. Out of all of those, the only things that are worth it are the PG, the nicotine, and the 5 flavor bottles. The reason I didn't list the VG as worth it is because 120ml VG isn't really a lot. This kit is really more for trying things out than anything. The problem here is you only choose 5 flavorings, which can probably only do like 1-2 recipes. 3 if you can stretch it out. I'd recommend first looking and researching recipes you're interested in, and see the reviews and feedback as well.

Buy your scale with your stuff too, as you really need it. Mixing by volume is very much possible, but it's more trouble than it's worth for very small quantities.

I recently posted in r/electronic_cigarette about this and was advised to post here instead. I have 4 bottles of 80% vg liquid but as I am using the endura t18 using liquid over 60vg isn’t recommended because it’s too thick. I’ve heard adding a few drops of distilled water can thin it out. How many drops of water should I add? Apparently I should do it by the tank instead of straight in the bottle in case I mess up- my tank is 2ml. How many drops of water would be enough to thin out 2ml of liquid?

I would get some PG to do the thinning out. Do you have a scale that can measure down to 0.01g? If not, get one and figure out how much PG to add.

Water can lead to problems in my experience, including spitting and erratic wicking.

Do note that diluting an 80% VG solution will also dilute the flavor. But since you got a lot, I suppose this is your only option. I concur, PG should be used rather than distilled water.

What web site do you guys get your diy matrial I've been using ecig express but every time I use it my credit card gets used on a Netflix account I don't use so I have to change and dispute it just figured out it was that fucking site.

I’ve been using the Privacy app for the last 6 months and just creating a burner card number for every order. Been working out great for me. Someone just recently tried to use one of those card numbers to buy some sick Nike gear for like $350, but since the card was dead after one use, they got shut right the fuck down.

Of course, sites should be secure enough to not have to use something like that. But it’s a nice safety net.

And ECX has a few things that you can only get there, but everything else I try to get from Bull City, Nicotine River, DIY Vapor Supply, and Vapers Tek.

How much does the privacy app cost to use.

Pretty sure it’s free. And you can set up different cards that will only work for one vendor, and if you use it to pay for subscriptions I think you actually get a certain % money back.

That sounds dodgy as fuck, I know someone else was saying something about them being shady recently. I'm not from the US but I've read people using bullcityflavors a lot.

Lol ya I'm pretty sure I'm done with that site thanks for the recommendation that site looks pretty good.

Wanting to get my first DIY lab up and going, but I'm not sure where to start. Nicotine River sells a few starter kits that have a lot of what I need, but seem to be missing a few of the flavor brands that I see in nearly every recipe.

I already have tons of sterile syringes (from nursing school), looks like I'll need to get a $20-25 scale from Amazon (recommendations?)

Max budget is $200, but that doesn't mean I want to spend all that if I don't have to. I mix 70/30 so I'll need PG and VG, 3mg so I won't fly through nicotine all that quickly, and I like a wide variety of flavors but not menthol so I don't need that.

Edit: Looking more closely at it I think I'm better off not going with a kit, at least not one of theirs. Checking out sidebar links now but still appreciate recommendations!

Edit: My first challenge! I have no idea what Nic strength to get. I'm going with smooth nic salts from Nicotine River, options are 48, 100 and 250. I don't understand which one to choose...

with the nicotine, it's all (as far as i know) in preference. anything 100mg(dont quote me) and up cant be shipped by air. and some people are rightfully timid to the thought of using a high strength nic concentrate.

find a few recipes that are well known, and fit your flavor profile. order those flavorings only. there will be time to expand after the initial period.

Thanks man! Order placed, ~$60 under budget with a shitload of flavors

From NicRiver, anything above 48mg must be shipped ground. I think the actual legal number is 50mg but they don't offer that specific number. Also not sure on the regulations regarding USPS and hazardous materials but I've only seen FedEx/UPS (both by ground) as shipping options for high concentration nicotine.

Hey guys, I just made my first order from nic river. I bought 100mg salt nic in 100%vg. Is there a way I can dilute it to a 50pg/50vg mix to allow me more flavor %? Thanks

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

When you mix, you combine PG, VG, nicotine and flavors. This means you have full control over the ratio between PG and VG, apart from the nic and flavors. Use a calculator to figure out how much to add of each to reach the desired nic strength and PG/VG ratio.

100 mg/ml isn't something you should vape as is, even with a tiny device this would be too much. Sub-ohm it and you'll have a bad day.

I've tried the calculator with a couple recipes I can make with the 18 flavors I got and they all result with negative's in the Pg column. Unless I'm not understanding how this works. Isn't it possible to add vg to my all pg nic so that it's a 50/50 blend?

2 points

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

Not much of the VG or PG will come from the nic base or flavoring, you'll only use a little bit of both. You didn't order any PG or VG?

Hi guys,

I noticed there's something weird on the bottom of my INW: Banana flavour concentrate. https://vgy.me/3mwPGm.jpg

Any idea what it might be? When furiously shaken it dissolves.

4 points

by chewymidgetover 7 years agoThe Colonel

It's one of the aromas INW uses. Some flavorings separate after a period of time. Just have to shake it up or sometimes even warm it slightly.

Hi! New to DIY here. Looking into making my first order to get started and had a few questions. Firstly, what nicotine strength do I buy? All the juice I buy are 3mg strength. So should I buy 100mg nicotine? Also. What websites would you guys suggest? ( I know this is repetitive in this thread but I was posting anyway about the nic ) And any brand reccimendations for flavors would be great too. Thanks.

by leapinglabratsover 7 years ago

The higher the nic strength, the more cost efficient it is. 100 mg/ml is safe enough to handle with caution, and any strength is dangerous to kids and pets anyway. Make sure it is PG based. As for brand, I'm not sure if we're allowed to say anymore with Reddit's new rules.

No brand of flavors is good enough to exclude any others, they all have their strengths and weaknesses. A good arsenal is a mix of brands. The usual recommendation is to find some recipes that appeal to you and order those flavors. Buy the smallest size available, 10 ml is a good size.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I guess I could find some recipes on this sub then

I recommend bull city for concentrates, they carry almost everything I've ever needed. Gremlin diy is always my second stop. For vg/pg Amazon is the way to go, I use essential depot and they have always been great. Vaperstek chemnovatic nic is the best I've ever used, and they recently lowered their prices so it is super affordable. Like the other guys said, find highly rated recipes here or alltheflavors, and get what you need for those first.

This sub and ATF are the good choices. But... if you can't find flavors that appeal to you, PM me and I'll explain the alternative approach to take.

I just tried the Smok guitar pick looking mod with some 50mg salt nic juice and I must say I loved it. What’s the general consensus for BEST mod in this platform and what PG % do you mix for it? I’m looking at nicotine rivers salt nic, better or cheaper anywhere else?

2 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Best is difficult. Worst would be a Smok product... due to the complete lack of quality control, use of inferior chips, substandard components, and poor workmanship... and charging a premium price based on their once having a quality product, years ago.

by catchthemagicdragonover 7 years ago

Oh I figured, I’ve never owned one of their products lol. Coworker is letting me try it. If the Smok one is this good I’m curious what else is out there.

I was just trying to look in to this last night as well. I have a Warlock Peas, but that’s just because it was $11. There’s been so fucking many of them coming out recently that it makes it difficult to get good opinions on them.

You’ll probably want to start with 50/50 for whatever you end up with. I’ve seen some like the Breeze where people have said they can go up to 70/30, and then I’ve also seen it suggested to do 40/60 (VG/PG.)

I’ve got the Nicotine River Hit Nicotine salts. It’s pretty decent I suppose. Nothing to compare it to though, so I’d maybe search for more opinions. Looks like Nude Nicotine has maybe gotten some better turnaround times for orders, so they might be worth looking at again. More research must be done though.

I just ordered an aspire breeze, .6 coils, and NN Signature 100mg. It will definitely require some experimenting, I’m usually max VG cuz low effort. I’m usually 6-12% flavoring on my fruity menthols in RDAs, am I going to have to bump that up most likely in these mixes?

1 points

by ChemicalBurnVictimover 7 years agoresident tobacco expert

It’s a possibility, but from what I know about the Breeze is it seems to be a bit more airy and flavorful, so probably not as much as you would need to for other pod devices. It’ll probably just take some fiddling with. If you’re around 15% flavor and mix some higher nic strength you can probably still get away with “Max VG.” Except it’ll be 70/30 or somewhere around there now.

this might be a dumb question but is there any way to try this with the least supplies possible? i read through the beginner guides and it requires a ton of different stuff. I try to keep a small footprint with my vape stuff but with the incoming flavor ban where i live diy might be my only option

3 points

by ChemicalBurnVictimover 7 years agoresident tobacco expert

What kind of supplies are you trying to not buy?

There’s things like this where I think you just have to dump in 500 mL or a liter of your nicotine base and you’ve got a finished juice. To make it extra easy you could just buy whatever nic strength you vape for your base so you wouldn’t need any syringes or a scale. /u/Enyawreklaw could probably give better details on how that works since he made them, and I’ve never done it before. But that’s my understanding of it. A step up from that would be getting one shots and a scale to accurately measure how much to add, and then a premixed nic base.

2 points

by Faladorableover 7 years ago

one shots sound interesting i’ll look into that. By premixed nic base are you saying that there are VG/PG bottles pre mixed with nic already included?

2 points

by ChemicalBurnVictimover 7 years agoresident tobacco expert

That’s correct. So you could get something like this that is already at 3mg and 50/50 vg/pg. ECX also has the same option, but you could get 70/30 VG/PG.

Hey guys, do you know any local store in NY, where you can buy those basic first extracts/flavours from the beginner diy wiki? If it helps, the zip code is 10004.

If no one has a suggestion you can always buy online, US has quite a few good places from what I can tell. I think that's what most people do.

Anyone here use the E-liquid Recipes app for Android?

I'd like to link up and subscribe to each other to share recipes in the future if you do! I go by the same name as here :)

Judging by the reviews, that app doesn’t seem to be very good as the developer doesn’t update the flavor list. You can check out the site for All The Flavors though.

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on clones for the new Twelve Monkey's Origins line, particularly the Papio (pineapple) or Lemur (Lime) flavors?
