As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.

JF Honeydew is the SHIT. I'm not really even the biggest fruit, particularly melon guy, but I love this stuff.
It's the only honeydew flavor worth buying imo
What kind of Honeydew do you find in Jungle Flavors Honeydew? I'm a fan of TFA Honeydew and it's the only one that tastes like real sweet honeydew to my taste buds. I went ahead and got JF Honeydew because of the hype, but it's totally different, all I taste/smell is candy melon and rine. I did notice that those who like JF Honeydew often don't enjoy TFA Honeydew.
Any tips? Or is this flavor just not a friend of my particular taste buds?
TFA honeydew Melon is way too sweet is the issue most have with it. I enjoy it in small doses but it becomes overbearing very quickly for most. If you actually like it I feel you'll be disappointed by JF Honeydew Melon. It has a very neutral melon taste with little sweetness.
Use both in conjunction would probably yield favorable results for your case though.
Looking at the future FotW I was sitting here chanting Pear Cranberry Mango... Pear Cranberry Mango... then I thought hmmmm I should give that a crack!~
Mmm. Kiwi butterscotch nougat. Now there's a tasty sounding combo🤢
I love honeydew, still working on making my main recipe with it better. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them. So far it's pretty delicious, but the honeydew doesn't shine through like I'm looking for. I am thinking of swapping the grape with less inw peach and upping the honeydew. The straight flavor test with this honeydew was delicious to me.
Honeydew grapefruit
Tfa Honeydew 1 - 3.5%
Inw grapefruit - 4%
Tfa grape juice - 3%
Tfa dragonfruit - 3.5%
I've been mixing it at 80vg/20pg, 5mg of smooth nic salts from nic river and a slight amount of stevia sweetener. It keeps being the first bottle to be drained out of the rest of my recipes. I think the grape accents the grapefruit but slightly masks the honeydew. The dragonfruit definitely makes the whole juice pop. Thinking inw peach might take a bite out of the grapefruit without masking the honeydew, need to mix a new bottle tonight to test it out.
Is inw grapefruit weak? I'm used to using inw at the 1-3 mark for main flavours with their stuff XD
It's not weak so much as I wanted it to be a strong flavor in this one. I tried it at 1%-4% and I just liked it at 4%. It really stands out at 4%, but it gains quite a bite, like the peel taste, that I'm trying to settle down. The honeydew and the grape really tone down the bite and leave a great grapefruit taste.
I’d love a good grapefruit recipe. You feel inw had the best?
It's the only one I've tried. I researched quite a bit before I ordered it and settled on it with reviews being really good. It's a little more bitter than I was expecting, got it from nic river. I think it's really good in mixes and needs something to balance out the bitter. The recipe above is good, but definitely not the best it could be.
Absolutely. I've tried them all pretty much. Inawera is the one. You need to get the regular grapefruit or "yellow". Their White Grapefruit tastes like how cat piss smells, and is real musky. I love Inawera Grapefruit all by itself at 1%. Sometimes I add a drop of FLV Rich Cinnamon.
Here's my main honeydew recipe that is in high demand with my friends. The recipe is shared under my account on ATF. It's a Belmont clone/inspired.
Grievance
TFA Honeydew - 3%
FA Melon Cantaloupe - 1%
INW Peach - 2%
FA MTS Wizard - 1%
The MTS is because the honeydew and peach kind of have a very bitter after taste. It helps knock it down and smooth it out. I've experimented with adding a bit of FA honey, but INW Peach has enough natural sweetnes that I removed it. My original version used FA White Peach, and that version needed a bit of honey to sweeten it a tad.
Damn I’m gonna try this but I only have FLV peach and tfa cantaloupe to sub. I think I can get it to work. Or maybe juicy peach?
Honeydew! This is the flavor that I had in mind when I started DIY. When I think of honeydew I think of being stung on the foot by a bee, I think of Samurai Jack and Dexter's Lab, Legos, Batman blankets, Grass, Blue sky, and that every day I am here I am brought closer to dea.. Sorry I was unzipped for a second, anyway, this flavor...
RECIPE: UNZIPPED
The classic "Honey Pear-y" without a pear in the world.
TFA Honeydew - 1.8%
FA Cantaloupe - 2%
INW Melon - 0.3%
TFA Strawberry Ripe - 2.5%
RF (SC) Strawberry - 2%
A bit of notes: It's very simple but ends up being refreshing while sweet and creamy. I can't say I enjoy any of the popular melon clones such as Cuttwood/Monster Melons/etc. so I am really happy with this one. I was looking for a more genuine Honeydew and found INW Melon and FA Cantaloupe have just the amount of body and thickness to add to TFA Honeydew that I was looking for. The Real Flavors strawberry adds a satisfying amount of tartness and the TFA Ripe sweetens everything and gives a nice accent behind the honeydew. I'd say that the Real Flavors Strawberry could be subbed for TFA Strawberry if you can taste it.
RF honeydew is my favourite. I like to add around 0.5% of the FW one to it as well in certain recipes. So far the RF has paired up nicely with everything I've put it with, including papaya, coconut, watermelon, cantaloupe, VBIC (both cap and TFA), and cucumber among others.
Easy recipe, could use tweaks:
RF Honeydew SC 2%
RF Cucumber SC 2.5%
CAP Sweet Watermelon 1.5%
Super sweet to preference
Man speaking of honeydew.. Wish I could figure out the whole combo of frostbite/polar breeze.. I cannot figure it out so I gotta keep buying it lol.. Tfa is definitely not it on the cantaloupe and honeydew they are to strong if anyone has tried it gotten close ill take any advice on my adv

Are spices normally considered a subset of floral? I mean, yeah we can cover ginger, cinnamon, basil, and whatnot individually but they'd probably get more action as a group...
https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/56xf9q/lets_spice_up_fotw_this_weeks_flavor_of_the_week/
I think you have to specify "not cinnamon" to do spices or it just becomes the cinnamon show, with poor ginger, clove, nutmeg, basil, saffron, black pepper, holiday blends, Italian seasoning blends, anise (yuck!), cardamom, wood spice, and whatever else just getting horribly overshadowed. Might be getting time to revisit these since VT has put out a bunch of them? Got ginger coming up soon would have to also specify Not Ginger... Help me come up with something that includes a bunch of spices but doesn't include cinnamon or ginger. Exotic spices? Spice blends? IDK. Maybe just go check out that previous one and see if it has everything you hoped it would. Other than the few new flavors available I doubt there's much more anyone has to say about spices one year later. Not a ton of interest in them, sadly.
Hey man, don't go knocking anise, it never did anything to you.
You sound like someone who's not spent much time with ouzo, sambucca, or absinthe. Which, given their horrible taste, is understandable... although one often attempts to put up with that in the interest of getting riggity riggity wrecked as fast as humanly possible.
