My Very Easy Stevia Sweetener Recipe
submitted over 7 years ago by modudupup

Many people don't know that you can buy pure stevia extract in white powder form. I buy mine from Trader Joe's, but I'm sure you can also find it online or in health food stores.

Anyways, I mix stevia and water in a 1:2 ratio. So basically a mixture of 33% stevia and 66% water. The amount of water allows the stevia to dissolve, but it's not so much that you're diluting your recipes.

I've been using this mixture to sweeten any juices, and it works wonderfully. It leaves a slight sweetness on your lips and doesn't gunk up my coils so far.

Hope this helps. :)

Stevia tastes far from sugar in anything it’s in IMO

I disagree. the taste and texture is the closest substitute sugar I've ever consumed. but thinking about it now I must confess it was Truvia that I actually liked and used, if that even matters. I know it's not sugar but give it a try and substitute it in your favorite bakery recipe, not e-juice recipe, like an actual chocolate chip cookie or brownie recipe. they're practically identical to me and on the plus side it's not really sugar. I think sugar is the devil

Truvia is stevia-based. Not true stevia. I’ve had shit with stevia in them. It’s gross. There’s nothing wrong with sugar just so you know. Don’t know what kind of voodoo you have been reading to make you think that. I could understand if you have a medical reason, but for some reason you hold a grudge against sugar.

Also, most food products on the market actually contain stevia and sugar. Which makes no sense from an economic aspect.

Note about this - this is doable if you have absolutely pure Stevia. This is a very bad idea if the powder has any additives, maltodextrin, etc. And most powders commercially available do have additives, because Stevia is so sweet and because the additives are so cheap to bulk up with.

So do your research and due diligence before you attempt this. Or just buy a Stevia based sweetener from the same vendor you get your flavoring from.

Yup this is super important. The fillers aren't meant to be vaped and could be harmful.

What guarantee do we have that our vendors do the same due diligence you are saying we need to have?

None, beyond the fact that this is what they do for a living and they should be telling you all ingredients in their products. This is why I'd suggest you purchase from trusted vendors who have a degree of transparency and make products for the vaping industry rather than getting something off the shelf from a non-vaping purveyor or from an untested source. I don't want to give recommendations here but there should be some listed in the side bar.

Well sure, but in a world where something we are inhaling is regulated by the FDA... can we even argue what appears to be a moot point? We are decades away from due diligence, imo.

Im not 100% sure how safe stevia is as I don’t know off hand the chemical compound but I would imagine it’s similar to sucrolose yeah? But you most definitely should be mixing with pg not water

Stevia is a plant leaf. I had some raw right off a plant and it tastes exactly the way it does pure.

That’s good to know because I always thought everything had to be mixed w pg, so thank you! ...;) Also, I’m sure the stevia they sell at NR for example is nothing more than exactly what you’re talking about and of course, cheaper. So, again, many thx and keep us informed if you develope any unwanted growths or coils gunk up or whatever...jkjk kinda 🤪

I do it very similar, though I use mostly pg though. I mix it at 200mg/ml. To make 100ml: mix 20g stevia to 10-20ml water and heat until mostly dissolved(I personally used 20ml of PG at the same time), then add to a container to measure and top off to 100ml with PG. 100ml should last for years, I've used maybe 1-2ml, probably less, in 6 months. I use pg to help be a preservative(don't know how effective this actually is, I still store it in my fridge).

Stuff is extremely potent and is by far my favorite sweetener for eliquid. Once I wasn't watching a buddy and told him he could fill up his tank with any of my juices, he used the straight sweetener from my fridge, it was disgusting and ruined his coil. The most I'll use is 1 drop per 10ml, but usually 1 drop per 20-30ml.

I know this is an old post but this was the only place I could find detailed instructions on making Stevia liquid from powder for DIY. Thanks so much!
