FW Cake Yellow - worth getting in limited quantities? Is there a viable replacement?
submitted over 7 years ago by ironfairy

Hi DIYers, I've been looking to expand my flavor stash recently and am constantly running across recipes that have this flavor in it. I've been on here for a bit though, and have read about how this flavor is a no-go from different Redditors. Apparently they stuff it full of fructose, and it does an amazing job of gunking coils?

That being said, is it still a good flavor in smaller %s? Or better yet, is there a flavor that closely emulates Cake (yellow) without the sugar? Would love some input here.

JF Yellow Cake works fine. Pick it up at Ecigexpress.

Good shit! Thanks for the input m8, going to try this out soon. Just read the flavor review here, all cake no sugar, great substitute. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks again!

I mean the word sugar, most people think of the real deal. I understand you're right as well. I mean it's all the same stuff. No point in arguing it, idk why I started to.

Do you know what happens when sugar burns?

Burns. Not caramelizes

I've had FW for a while now. I recently got JF Yellow Cake. I'm gunna do a side by side comparison to see which one tastes better. I get the feeling that the JF YC fans are like the people reviewing Caps V2 Custard at Bullcity, saying "Better than V1!" We'll see tho.

Any updates on a side-by-side comparison?

I finally got to this. I prefer Flavor West but not by a large margin. Jungle is really nice. I think it's a little softer and definitely dryer. FW is just so moist and good. This FW tester is only 24hrs steeped. My JF tester is three weeks steeped. I have yet to try JF in a mix. I can see why people use this as a sub. I would not call it better, but its not bad. It has its own merits. I'll try them both in a couple recipes next to see how they do.

JF Yellow Cake is good, but I love Cake Yellow so much I just deal with it. I don’t vape too many mixes with it, and I don’t sell any juice that uses it as an ingredient.

I'll never be scared of FW Yellow Cake. As long as you're not vaping it at 6% day in day out.

Also, it's not like sugar sugar, it's a simple syrup.

Simple syrup is just sugar, AKA sucrose, dissolved in water. So it is "sugar" sugar.

What I'm saying is it's not table sugar. It's fructose not sucrose. It's a sugar found in honey and fruit.

Where is there a guide where I can read all this stuff? I'm reading all the warnings on eliquid recipe sites but didn't see this anywhere

I did a bit of browsing to see if there was a guide like that, but I couldn't find one. The warnings you see on ELR are pretty comprehensive. The only two flavors I can think of with "special warnings" are:

FW: Cake (yellow) - undisclosed added sugar

TFA: Banana (ripe) - melts syringes

I'd recommend for each flavor you're going to purchase checking out its flavor review found here. Read the replies as well, sometimes they're more helpful than the actual review.

It's fine in smaller percentages but will junk up coils in higher ones.

I prefer JF yellow cake to the FW variant. JF is dryer and less cloyingly sweet.

Another good sub is ooo golden sponge cake.

Fw yellow cake is gooood. Jf is ok but to me it doesn't touch Fw. I wouldn't make it part of my adv but here and there should still be better than cigs.
