I have key lime from both FW and TFA, and Florida Key lime from FA. im putting in an order tonight for that cold pressed tahiti and a few other things on that recipe. it has to be the Florida key lime.
Yes. And TFA can’t be used on its own. It needs a sweeter lime and possibly even some sweetener. It’s key lime pie after all.

In my opinion, FA Florida Key Lime doesn’t work well with creams and bakery concentrates, but does play nice with fruit bases. For bakery applications, I personally prefer LA Key Lime, and TPA Key Lime.
Here is a nice recipe that uses TPA Key Lime.

Have you tested the flavors individually to see which one tastes like cologne to you?
I have not! I know i know... im waiting on my tester bottles lol, I have made up about 8 good custom free for all mixes, i cloned a local shop's "drip all day" and it turned out almost the same, needs more cream. im almost positive the cologne taste is coming from the Florida key lime. now that i stepped back and re-sniffed each one i can tell it has a floral overtone
I don’t know much but I learned this the other day, I hope it helps. Maybe try Tpa and use the FA as an accent or the Tpa as an accent, but many times one flavor needs help w body or a boost here or there and another flavor often does that. tpa has 2 Key limes; one is Key Lime and the other is Key Lime Pie. The Key Lime Pie is a creamier flavor than the Key Lime. I have the Key Lime Pie but not FA version so I’m going to guess here and say try Key Lime Pie 2% and your Key Lime as an accent and start at .5 and work your way up. .. but that’s not what you asked 😩😂 fml
Hmmm... maybe for your recipe figure out which Lime is your cologne culprit and lower the % and if it’s both get rid of the lemon lime and find another accent that will mask that cologne off note.Might I suggest toasted marshmallow doesn’t sound good on a Key Lime Pie, ( but what do I know?😩😂), maybe if you have dragon fruit or pear .5-1% won’t hurt to sweeten it some. Don’t be afraid to raise your bav cream to 1-2%, not sure you need the custard but if you want it raise it to at least 1-2%... Idk how to link but if you search for Key Lime recipes here I’m sure you’ll find quality stuff to use for a reference much better than me. Good luck and welcome to diy ejuice! ...;)
Thankyou! I resniffed all my key lime variations and found it was the Florida key lime, very floral.
I was hoping with my mixture I could pull off the eggy custardy flav of a real key lime pie, I want that creamy airy texture inhale with a limey smacker and a buttery graham cracker exhale, if that makes sense lol. I've been looking for a good recipe and I'm a few minutes away from my next flavor order
Might need a longer steep? ... and I've noticed some citrus flavors can include weird off-notes.
yes it hasnt steeped at all, but is it normal to have really cologny tasting stuff that mellows into goodness? I am 100% new to DIY, I am a chef and have a pretty developed pallat, and i recognize this as grey flannel cologne from the 90's.
this would be my tenth juice and by far the worst.. all the other ones are pallatable and all but banana cheesecake and this are enjoyable
Normally, if it’s terrible first mixed it’s not going to be good once steeped.
Steeping doesn’t fix bad juice. It makes decent juice great.
Yea that's what I thought originally and that was actually the answer I was looking for and deducted throughout the night, I really appreciate the input. I put in another 50 flavor order this morning, got some sweeteners, I had the extra loot so I wanted to stock up on everything, the more variety the better for me and I think the overall investment is worth it
