So I just got back from a very long work trip and I needed mix up a new patch of stuff. No problem, make up several large bathes of stuff all done. I didn't have what I wanted for what I normally make so winged it. Cool.
My main room that I vape in is my computer room/office, this is NOT the room I mix in.
Now all of a sudden I have a ton of ants finding their way into this room. This room is kept VERY clean, so much so that I'm sweeping, and mopping the floor once a week as well as cleaning the surface of the desk, screens, and window. It's quick and it's a habit now. So seeing them in here kind of tweaks me out and I'm in the process of breaking down everything and moving it out of the room and as I bring things back in I'll be hand cleaning each thing, cable, and surface.
But the only thing that has changed from when I was gone and now is it's a bit warmer in here now (desktop, media server, storage vault NAS), and I'm vaping up the new mix with flavors that normally I never use (was still in plastic) like papaya, mango, and honeydew.
So this begs the question, is there flavorings and what not that ants are attracted to, or this is just a huge coincidence?
I'm guessing it's just more of a coincidence as the weather is starting to shift the ants are more than likely seeking out new resources. It is a possibility that one of the new concentrates you uses is heavy on the sweetener and is drawing them in. Are the the tiny sugar ants?
Yeah might just be a coincidence. Yes they are very tiny (or where) sugar ants.
Try the terro brand liquid bait stations. They will swarm it and you'll be tempted to clean it up but leave it be for a few days. They will take the bait back to the nest which helps eliminate the whole colony. I've fought these guys off numerous times and this is the best solution I've found.
It's likliest if you're vaping flavors using FW sugar-loaded concentrates. Normally, the noncaloric sweeteners used in vaping don't attract insects as they're usually able to tell the difference between food (things containing energy they can process) and fiber (stuff with no nutritional value.)
Had to deal with sugar ants recently as well. Putting a borax based ant-killing solution in their usual tracks seems to have done the trick. I was told they take it back into their colony to share, where it then eliminates the rest of them. After two treatments it seems to have done the trick. Good luck!

This whole thing makes me wonder what they are attracted to and by how much. So I think a test is in order.
White paper drop of VG, PG, various flavorings and some sweetener outside of course.
If you want to avoid all that poison bcuz of animals or children here’s what it’s taken me many years to learn and zillions of ants here in the Vegas desert but I use essential oils and spray it kind of how you would spray a pesticide...along the doorways, entry ways, window sills and even my sinks and drains in bathroom. There must be sugar in my freakn shampoo or idk but dam things like it there too. 😩😂.. I Hate bugs and that includes ants...Oh the essential oils I use are any of the mints..peppermint, wintergreen, eucalyptus.. I recommend it as a safe alternative to avoid the poison and then you can just send them elsewhere and not necessarily kill them....;))

Hmm we always have ants this time of year... and we had thousands before spraying but not a single ant went close to my flavorings. On the other hand they loved all the food my son left on his computer desk. And strangely, my coffee machine. So hyped up, over fed ants were running wild. But they were nicotine free.
Not regarding the ants, but you be careful while vaping in the same room as your PC, especially if it has a big fan, with high VG. It'll go inside your baby !

Actually there is a tried and true diy method of taking care of ants 10 parts powdered sugar 1 part Borax washing powder and a bit of water to make a paste. Same as the taro but you probably have these ingredients in house put some on an empty water bottle lid and sit it where you see them coming in and they will swarm it but just let them be in a few days poof no more ants.
I get it but slightly different. I have a roll of toilet paper in my room which I use to clean up leaks. Never had any issues..
However when I started to dry burn the cotton to swap flavours I would blow it (which happened to be the general direction of the toilet paper). After a week or so ants started flocking to it and eating the toilet paper...
I moved the toilet paper out of airflow and threw away the outside layers and it never happened again. Mind you, it took a month of me being confused to all fuckery before I figured it out haha
