Hi all, does anybody know if such a thing as a peat flavor exists, like a smokey whiskey but less of the whisky and more of the peaty smokiness (peat on it's own would be ideal). I have a tobacco mix that I think just a touch of it would work really well but I don't really want the whiskey flavor. Thanks very much.
I was initially thinking Guaiacol could maybe help you out, and did some googling and found this which I thought was interesting, even though I don’t drink the stuff.
But anyway, I’ve tried just plain old Guaiacol before when I was working on my own tobacco additive, and there’s a couple flavors that seem to be pretty heavy with it. Molinberry Ash Cigar didn’t taste like it really had anything but Guaiacol. FLV Pucker tastes like it a lot, but also has a kind of tart kick to it. Pucker will probably be easier to find.
So my friends started trying to mix their own juice, and I want to buy from them cause it'll be cheaper. However he said he doesn't know exactly how strong the flavor should be, so any advice as that, as well as other tips I could give to them? After all, if I'm going to buy from them I might as well make sure they're doing it right
Edit: also a question I've had while browsing different posts/sites, does steeping mean you have to let it sit and absorb the flavor for that long and can't vape it until then?
I’d recommend they do their own research instead of getting it second hand from you. It’s not going to do them any good if they don’t learn on their own. Tell them to do some reading of the sidebar (Community Info, if in the app).
I assumed they have done at least some research as they've already made some batches, but thought I'd ask in case I could help
look in the sidebar. There's basically 3 methods you can use to get the percentage of flavors into your mix. measuring by volume, weight, or drops. Also in the sidebar are links to tried and true recipes with ratio's of VG, PG, individual flavors, and nic if you want it. Using an online calculator will also allow you to tweak your recipe. Steeping allows your flavors to meld. You can vape as soon as you're done mixing but some flavors are better with a steep
I made some of /r/coop34 Raspberry Custard 13 days ago. Should I leet it steep more, or do you think it's good to go? I made 60ML so I wouldn't use it up fast.
It's starting to get good at 2 weeks. I like it best after a full month. I hope you like my first recipe that I felt comfortable posting!

Hi all. In honor of my one year anniversary of being off cigarettes and my newfound enjoyment of tobacco flavors I have decided to go down the rabbit hole as far as I am willing to go. I did some research and feel like this could be my one big order. (I realize it's late in the week for this thread so hope I get some info.) I'd hate to miss out on one flavor and not be able to make a recipe so I tried to be thorough this time. here's the list. Please let me know if there is something that I should have to make this as complete as possible since I expect this to be my last order for a bit. any advice is greatly appreciated on what's missing or good supporting notes (creams, liquours, fruits, nuts etc.) or even recipes (abuela, cardinal, creamy cuban) so i can double check i have all the ingredients. or awesome recipe suggestions from atf or your own?

Also, FLV Yakima Hops, INW Smoked Plum (these will help 'dry out' wet flavors that would mess with your tobacco).
Various spices (cinnamon, ginger, clove, etc.) And FA Whiskey, actually any decent booze flavor. Rums and whiskeys are best.
And ask /u/chemicalburnvictim. Actually, that should be your first step. But you definitely want some HS tobaccos.

I've been trying to track it down myself with limited luck. I'd like to take advantage of that quirk it has, at least by what reports I've read. Considering I make a lot of lemonades, and now am moving into tobacco, it would be nice to combine the two... but that requires drying the mix somehow.
FLV Connecticut Shade would be a good one for the list as well as Sweet Cigarette and Native. I just did a tobacco recipe with FLV Boysenberry and Açaí, if a dark berry tobacco sounds interesting to you.
For INW, Gold Ducat, Gold for Pipe, and Cavendish if a honey tobacco tickles your fancy. Also the tobacco Absolutes. Or at least the Virginia and Cuban Cigar Tobacco Absolutes. If you’re up for ordering from somewhere like Inaweraflavours.com that has all of the INW flavors, I could suggest a few more.
Never thought I’d do this, but it might be worth picking up TFA Turkish and Western. Turkish actually does a pretty decent job of adding a bit of spice to a recipe if you keep it really low- like below 1%. Higher and it’s kinda gross to me. Same with Western- 1% tops. But there’s people out there that can rock those at like 5%, I’m just not one of them. Red Oak is another good one for tobaccos.
FA I would probably throw in Black Fire, Shade, and Oak Wood.
If you’re thinking of Hangsen, I’d go No. 5, Desert Ship, RY1, Magic Mix, Cuba, Elder Captain, and Flue Cured.

I have the Connecticut shade, flv native, tfa western, black fire, fa shade, hangsen ry1. I like western at 4% strangely enough. I may be that guy.
Actually I can’t really taste them much any lower than that so my plan is to use the single flavor testing stuff I’ve learned and really apply them to the tobaccos and see where my tastes land. All the while to try out the recommended recipes I’ve seen on atf. I actually looked for your profile on atf and couldn’t find it. Do you have an account there or recommend some users to peruse?
Anyway I always did like a strong flavored smoke. Unfiltered hp upmans, Cuban populars, or Peter stokkebyes were my jam.
I figured you probably already had the good ones that you left off, but I figured I’d mention them just in case.
I think I might actually be the minority that doesn’t like Western above 1%. There’s a molecule in there that doesn’t agree with me. I’ve come across it in some other flavors too. It’s whatever they use to add the “leather” note. I tracked it down once, but since not a lot of other companies share the ingredients, it didn’t really help me much, so I just forgot about it. I’ve kind of built a tolerance to it now.
INW Cherries goes well with a few tobaccos I've found (under 1% just a touch). INW Tobacco Absolute Cuban is good too (sorry I see chemicalburnvictim recommended that I thought he hadn't which would have been strange) I really like the INW Turkish too. Otherwise maybe a couple of additives, I've tried FA Vape Wizard and tbh I'm still trying to work out what it actually does, but there's also Sour Wizard. I'm not sure what the "professional" mixers like u/chemicalburnvictim (he's obviously where I got my first recommendations from) thinks of these but I think I may have seen him use Sour before. Plus you use such a tiny amount they'd last forever.
I’ve used MTS and just started playing with Bitter Wizard a little, which I think is a pretty interesting one.
I just placed my first order today, I already realize I should have ordered my nicotine in PG rather than VG but I was already going to go for high VG anyways so I'll just put up with the consequences. I only got one syringe for all the flavors because I was of the understanding that at least at first I can get by with just cleaning it between flavors and do good enough. I got a second one with a bigger tip for the nicotine and bulk VG.
Honestly what I am kind of hoping to do is recreate Cool Lime/Cool Mango from Chill ELiquids and maybe create my own fruit varieties with a similar overall profile to those. Has anyone created a juice similar to those? I got Lemon Sicily (FA), Lime Tahity (FA), Koolada solution, Cool Mint (CAP), Mango (FLV) and Red Touch (FA) as flavors to start out with to begin experimenting with the process of making juice. I know it's not a ton of variability but I think I gave myself a decent place to start.
what's the concentration in mg for the nic? especially if it's over 48mg nic you're just going to have to shake the shit out of your bottle to avoid hot spots. You'll definitely be making max VG juice. Most likely your flavors are carried in PG so if your total flavor is 10%, you'll have VG/PG 90%/10% in the end. Personally, I think that's a little high but I don't think there's anything wrong with it
Vg based nicotine is perfectly ok. I've been using it exclusively since i started mixing. The only thing you should need is some extra PG to help when you decide you dont want to mix max vg anymore.
Major problems with Max vg are that it generally takes a little longer to steep completely and flavors generally wont be as vibrant.
If the syringe is glass using just the one would be ok but you may run into cross contamination. If the flavors you bought have dripper tips you'll be better off dripping into the bottle you're mixing in.
Also definitely look into getting a scale that reads out to .01g. Even a cheap one is better than none. Your mixing life will be so much more simple. Also, protip for flv mango, it fades really fast. If you're steeping for any more than a couple of days consider adding the mango after the steep.
Interesting did not know about the FLV Mango so that is definitely good to know. I have a kitchen scale but I think it only does 0.1g and I wasn't really interested in taking it that far yet as I am still going to be trying to get my legs on 15mL batches trying to figure out what tastes good. It may be worth it eventually but I will have to check on the scale again.
I did pick up a couple more flavors today when I realized I had only ordered larger bottles so I put those in and not sure if there are other issues with them I'm not aware of: Passionfruit (FA) Cactus (INW) Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TFA) and Caramel (CAP)
i need some inventory help. I'm ordering over 30 flavors for the first time based on what I want to mix for me personally and for a few friends. they're all basically 10 ml samples but I realized a lot of the recipes I've already picked out share the same damn ingredients and can be made with what I already have. fucking sweet! but looking into this in more depth I saw I'd sometimes needed a particular flavor in excess of 20ml making me need to order that flavor X2. I quickly found out in time my inventory would be out of control and I don't want to eyeball a bottle to try and guess how much is left because I've already used it once or twice on a prior mix. So I ended up creating a spreadsheet that would track my inventory and subtract what would be mixed so I could have an accurate idea of what I have left that would prevent me from buying too much of what I already have in the future. I think this is manageable as long as I make an effort to maintain it properly but I've already caught some mistakes on my own data entry. Is this how you guys monitor your inventory? or is there some site you use online? I'm not a fan of windows software due to incompatibility issues with my OS. I'm already using e-liquid recipes dot com and my flavors are loaded in my stash. Thanks for reading

When you get to about the 600-800 flavors level, the flavors start creating cliques. These cliques evolve into full blown societies are specific flavors tend to group with others that share their ideals. This can become an issue if you purchase too many of one type of flavor, as it can result in the bleaching of valuable societal and cultural nuances that happens when cultures are absorbed by a much larger one. Another issue is if you let the aggressive societies grow too much, you end up with a full on flavor war, with countless casualties, and a room that will smell of lime for centuries to come. I'll never forget the war that erupted when the citruses invaded the stone-fruits after the archduke of the unsweetened creams was assassinated. So many flavors lost in drawn-out battles, not to mention that the citruses were executing tropical flavors en masse throughout the duration of the war. All turned out fine, however, as a result, the unsweetened creams and pastries banded together to split the territory of the miscellaneous flavors into manageable sections, but they put all the wrong flavors in the wrong places, and the remaining tropical flavors were allotted land that belonged to the herbs(some contention here, as the tropical flavors and the herbs both claim this land as their ancestral and religious homeland) and causing the entire former miscellaneous flavors region to be embroiled in conflict and tension for the last century. Not to mention that the unflavored creams and the pastries completely forgot to allot land for the spices, which had to spread between three flavor categories, all of which have been working their damnedest to eliminate them.
So yeah, eventually you just lose all control over your inventory and organization.
I am pretty sure All The Flavors will do this for you. You put in how much you have, and when you hit “Mix” on a recipe to create a batch, it will subtract the amount used from your inventory. I don’t believe you can do this on ELR because you don’t make “batches” on there, which would update your inventory.
that would be perfect. I'll check it out after work. I just used ELR's calculator because it worked on the first try and I never looked back. plus I think they use a database of flavors SG
Most recipes you will find are going to be using 1g=1ml. And ELR can be a bit tricky to find other recipes you can make with the flavors in your inventory since there could be multiple entries for the same flavors. So there could be TFA Blueberry (Wild), TFA Blueberry Wild, and TFA Blueberry(Wild). All the same flavor, but if it was input 3 different ways, you’d either want to add the most popular one to your inventory, or add all 3.
Over time you will get a better feel for what you use most by observing what you need to reorder most. The flavoring I use most is Loran's Lemonade (It's used at 6% in two of my vave juices and I mix 100ml batches). So I buy it 100ml at a time. TFA Strawberry (Ripe) and CAP VBIC v1 and CAP VC v1 1 are the next most used but I can get away buying 30ml refills.
The most annoying problem for me is that I have to use three different vendors for maximum value for money. I can only buy Lorans flavours from one vendor. This vendor charges outrageous money for VG and PG (and their postage is quite expensive). And the only way to get Flavourart flavourings at a reasonable price is to buy directly from them (50 ml at a time)
I understand your struggle. I also desperately seek out reputable vendors and do price comparison. shipping costs complicate things even further being overseas. I believe I can steady this new hobby by being proactive and ordering in advance hence my initial inquiry on a user friendly inventory management application. I think I know the direction I need to go with based on a lot of the replies I've received in this post already.

Hi everyone, new DIYer here. Well I made my own juice for about a year in 2011/2012 but I didn't do much research, mostly just chucked stuff together and ended up vaping single flavours for the most part. This time around I'm trying to do it properly, mixing by weight and keeping notes etc.
Anyway I've made it to this point with my first recipe after a bit of trial and error, changing percentages, adding and removing other fruit flavours. It's a pleasantly sour apple tasting vape but it's a bit dry and I feel like it needs something else, but I'm not sure where to go.
Honeydew Melon (CAP) 2%
Pear Candy (TFA) 3%
Two apples (INW) 3%
Cactus (INW) 1%
Kiwi (CAP) 1%
Super sweet (CAP) 0.5%
Does anyone have any ideas how I can take this to the next level? Cream? Marshmallow? More sweetener? Something else?

I'm not an expert-maybe one of them will chime in here, but one thing that stands out to me is the Cap Kiwi. In the flavor reviews, that kiwi is noted for being dry, as well as not a real good kiwi. Maybe trade that one for FA Kiwi, it might take a little of the dryness away.
I really enjoy Pear and Kiwi by FA because they are bright and juicy. I can't speak about Pear Candy because I've never tasted it, but I do know from my testing that CAP Kiwi is a bit drier. If you don't have FA's version, you could just drop it a bit to possibly kill some of the dryness. You could add a bit of marshmallow to round out the mouthfeel and almost a creamy note if that's what you're going after. Hope this helps :)

My primary goal was to make anything that I'm happy vaping all day so I can stop buying premium juice, and I found a Cucumber melon recipe on here which does the job nicely, so I'm winning already!
I live in Finland and due to the law all the premade ones are banned. I have cheese cake and lemon capella but they are not as my type as i thought they would be. I want to try fruity ones this time with different brands. Tbh there is limitation because we do not have all the DIY brands and I do not remember all the brand the local shop has. the one i can remember is big mouth, seven sins, bubble island and capella. as the title mentioned, the countries the label told me was those countries and more but I cannot remember all of them.
End of background story. Is bubble island and seven sins good concentrated juice brand? or is there any good Finnish or any other countries i mentioned DIY e juice brand with specific flavours?
Working on a weird recipe for the weekly flavor pro FB group challenge. This weeks theme is flavored tobaccos so I'm trying to whip something up this week to submit. Just wanted to ask some people here who might have more experience with the flavors I'm using, what I could change or add to make the recipe better?
Going for a Molasses, black currant ry4 tobacco type profile. Dark and sweet kind of taste. So far it's steep a few days and it's not bad, but I'm considering changing bav cream for some different kind of cream, and maybe raising the black currant or using soemtbing to boost it a bit.

If you want an actual blackcurrant, go for INW, MB or a combination thereof. They are both super tasty and authentic.
FA is redcurrant at best and not very authentic, but maybe it's a better match for tobacco, I've never tried.
Hmm the fa black currant is the only one I have tried to far. Maybe I will just drop the fruity notes from the recipe and just go for a dark rich kind of dessert tobacco instead
Well, since you want a tobacco, swap in FS RY4 for your RY4D. And maybe toss in some FLV Red Burley (it makes every tobacco blend better) and a bit of INW DNB (see previous comment).
Also... I'm really loving blending cinnamon with tobacco lately. You may want to consider that...
Alternatively, look at /u/chemicalburnvictim's recipe "none more black" (IIRC).
Does anybody know the strawberry that is used in Lava Flow? I've looked at some clone recipes but they say things like "better than the original" or "can substitute x strawberry for y strawberry". NO. I must know the exact strawberry, please. I also very much enjoy the strawberry in Bombies Agent P, Fittyz Doo-wop, Transistor Babyclouds and Phillip Rock Strawberry Shortcake. I'm pretty sure they all have the same flavoring.
I don't think those companies are gunna tell us the exact strawberry flavors they use.
When strawberries and cream was king, that strawberry flavor was everywhere. I'm pretty sure a diyer with a trained tongue can figure it out.
Hello! I have a nitecore mixer, my question Is... Steep times.... Do it really helps and reduce The steeping times? Any guide for steep with this mixer? I just received it ! :3

Same as normal.
Step 1. Seal bottle.
Step 2. Shake the fuck out of the bottle.
Step 3. Place bottle in cool dark place.
Step 4. Leave it the fuck alone for the right amount of time. (2 weeks for creams/custards, a month for tobaccos, 2 months(×#of DX/V2 ingredients) etc.) Feel free to shake every few days if you need to be involved.
Step 5. Try it.
NOTHING can compare to time. It's rough, but it's true. I love a rich vanilla custard, but when I run out without mixing more, I have to wait 2 weeks before I can vape it again. No amount of heating, shaking, or any machine can do what setting your bottle in a dark drawer and shaking every couple days.
If you had $60 dollars to start from nothing is it possible and if so where would you get your supplies and a few versatile flavors also I’d like to measure my juice not by weight I think it would be better but maybe I’m not sure

I'd second that. Once you've found a couple of all day vapes (ADV) you like you can start mixing them up in 100-250 ml batches.
I would personally recommend using condiment bottles with squeeze caps for storing and mixing PG, VG and Nicotine. (Though you may want to decant the nicotine into bottles and store the remainder in your freezer to stop the nicotine oxidizing)
My current ADVs are:
Prickly Victory, Backwoods Lemonade and Leche de Coconut (all findable on 'Alltheflavours' (ATF)
Nicotineriver.com kit to get your feet wet. One stop shopping. Scale makes it easier for most people, but that can come later. Look up some well regarded recipes to help pick your flavors.

Can confirm. I just started DIYing about a month ago and went with Nic River's DIY Kit as it seemed of the kits that were available out there you got the most bang for your buck. 15 flavors, PG/VG, nicotine, syringes, gloves, 100 ml glass beaker, a graduated cylinder, and 10 clear bottles. All-in-all, I was pleased with it, but I began measuring by weight within a week. It's just easier. I've probably dropped around $150 into it (including the scale and about 15 more flavors) since and haven't been happier.
Fasttech.com has a scale for less than ten bucks. If you're careful about flavor selection, your under 60 is probably doable if you have bottles you can reuse for a while.

So what sorts of combination do you think would work well?
I can see the last three working together in a mixture, the base being the sweet part, the cubano add ashness, and the plain tobacco adding its leafyness to it. I also have some fruits and additives if you're thinking of something else.
Stuff that plays well with tobaccos - spices, chocolate, booze, nuts. Pick one (or several) option to blend with your tobacco. Personally I'm really loving cinnamon tobacco, but clove tobaccos are more common. Or ginger could work. Peanut butter and a sweeter tobacco could work. A bittersweet dark chocolate with a sweet tobacco, or a milk chocolate with a nutty tobacco... really, your biggest limitation is going to be the choices of tobacco you have. If you want to play with tobacco, get some FLV and INW ASAP.
Hi, can anyone tell me if SC - Super Concentrated flavours is another brand then Real Flavors SC? or Wonder Flavours SC?
And maybe one knows where to buy them in the UK/EU?
SC usually refers to a line of flavors made in China by... well, I'm not sure of the company. It isn't the same as WFSC or RFSC.
I believe that in the civilized world, somewhere sells SC rebranded as "Flavor Express". That line is carried (and inexplicably rebranded to 'Xpress flavors') by chefsflavours.co.uk
Hi, I've already mixed some DIY eliquids, but they didn't turn out 2great cuz I had only 5 flavors. Now I want to buy new flavors but idk which. I enjoy mostly fresh eliquids, don't like any heavy cakes etc. Most likely I take: creamy fruits, fresh fruits, mint also I really want to find good lemon/lime sour flavor. I also was thinking about RY4 Double tobacco.
You should be finding recipes and then buying flavors based on those, but I will list some recommendations given your profiles.

Look at some recipes on the sidebar and buy flavours to make those recipes that you think you will like.

Repeat 1. for another recipe or three.

Create a free account on 'all the flavours' (ATF) and add all the flavourings you own into your profile. Use the 'recipes I can make' filtered at +1 and +2 to see recipes you are short of one or two flavours. Order and try. Add flavourings you bought to the list.

Repeat 3 until you have 30 recipes or so that you can make

In ATF list the the most popular flavorings by popularity and start working down the list. (Possibly skipping any you know you will hate; which is cinnamon for me).
Soon you will have 30 - 50 flavours and can make 100+ recipes with what you have and 300-400 recipes that you are only one or two short of - which you can either try substituting or buying if a particular recipe looks good.
There a huge number of strawberry cream / custard recipes but loads of other interesting ones.
Edit: Make sure you steep each mix long enough to smooth the flavours out. Creams / Custards take longer to steep than fruits. Personally for me, Vanilla Custard and Vanilla Bean Ice cream needs a minimum 4 weeks steeping and don't reach their best for 8 weeks.
When or how do you know what flavors pair? For example, how do you know what to pair w florals? Only florals? What pairs w earth flavors? What are earth (y) flavors? Do you need a top, middle and bottom? Nvm that one pretty sure u do, my main problem is how to distinguish a flavor and how to pair it: like - it can be a fruit, citrus, floral and earthy all in one yes? So, if it has more than one characteristic would you take the ? part of it to classify it for a pairing? That make sense? I know what fruits are, creams, custards, candy ( kinda but not really because that’s where it gets confusing and very floral, earthy , musky, sweet and sour all in one ...help! 😩😂) haaa
What I do a lot of the time is google it up. If you’ve got a flavor you want to try something with, google “flavor pairing.” So if you want to use something like FLV Wood Spice, you could google “sandalwood pairing” and find a site like this and check out the sandalwood pairings:

And then pick out a few things that might blend well. So maybe decide you’ll do a sandalwood, lemon, and grapefruit recipe. You’ve already decided you’ll use FLV Wood Spice, then maybe FA Lemon Sicily and some grapefruit (never used one.) Then start testing some things out and tweaking it. Then maybe scrap the whole thing because it sucks.

Fruits can pair with some florals, some tobacco, some candy.

Candy can pretty much pair with anything, although tobacco might be really challenging.
If you are careful about which tobaccos you use, you can pair tobaccos with just about any other thing.
Creams pair well with chocolate. Custards, probably. And some booze.
Booze pairs with pretty much everything.
Custards can pair with just about anything, it's hard to make custard worse than it is by itself.
Spices are the almost middle ground between tobacco and floral... all three are 'earthy' flavors in some sense, they just vary in where in the spectrum they land.
So, does anyone know for sure if Inawera has reformulated any more of their flavors recently? I have been hearing people talk about possible reformulations on their Custard and biscuit flavorings, and I'm just curious if this has been confirmed yet? Has anyone noticed any changes in any of their other popular flavors like inw vanilla shisha, or inw creme brulee?
The initial ~~reformulation~~ruination of INW flavors was due to Polish or Euro law involving paperwork and their sources for components. The flavors they fucked up were ones where their suppliers declined to bother with the paperwork, assuming my memory is correct. Which means there's no reason for them to do any further fuckery. Besides, INW is much more likely to create a new flavor, give it a name barely distinguishable from another flavor, and sell both side by side than to take one off the market.
I can't personally confirm changes to any INW concentrates that weren't on that list that got leaked last year.
But, I consider /u/ConcreteRiver to be a reliable source, and he says INW Lime appears to have changed, by having ordered new lime and comparing them side by side. So that's true, it means they could have changed anything. When they changed some flavors last year due to problems with suppliers, the way they did it was shady. They reformulated the flavors and then just sent them out to customers like nothing happened, until one of those customers complained about a bad batch. That's when that customer got the list of reformulations, and subsequently leaked it.
Recently, I've heard rumors about popular flavors such as Biscuit, Custard, even Shisha Strawberry. I doubt people are making those rumors up, but there are other possibilities besides reformulation. They could easily have gotten bad or mishandled batches. On the other hand, with Inawera's history of not being upfront about these things, who knows.
Lime makes sense because Apple-Lime and Cactus-Lime are on the original list of reformulations and /u/ConcreteRiver described Cactus-Lime as "Pretty much just a mix of INW Cactus and INW Lime"
Hopefully the rumors aren't true but if they are it's likely Inawera will be even more tight lipped about the changes this time around.

As far as I know, Custard is a fairly new flavor. I’d be surprised if they screwed with it already. Why do you ask?
Are TFA cantaloupe and watermelon drastically different flavours? I subbed watermelon for cantaloupe in a recipe and almost threw up when I tasted the result.

No, but I might sub one type of apple for another.
You probably have alot more success subbing an apple for an apple than you do when you sub a cantalope for a watermelon (or vice versa). But they say diy is about making yourself happy so carry on! Just don't be surprised by the comments you get when you post something like this.
