Do I need sweetner to make my Liquid taste 'premium' or is that not true? Give ur opinions
No, premium is adjective they put on the label to move it from the bottom shelf to the top.
kind of like the secret sauce in space jam, its just water.
It's not premium, its "premium", you gotta say it with a wink and do the ol' snap fingers on both hands and point with a gun finger.
To answer your question: If you specifically want your juice to taste like most widely available commercial brands, then yes, you need a very high amount of sweetener.
What sweetner would you recommend to try first? Might place an order
I've been working on something for a long time now and I knew I was close but it just wasn't there. 0.75% Cap Supersweet and it came alive.
So...sometimes but not always?
No. I believe companies like TBD and Bigglesworth don't use sweetener. That's all I vaped before going DIY. So to me "premium" juice doesn't have sweetener (TBD and Bigglesworth are still the best juice makers imo). When I tried other store bought juice after a year or so vaping TBD I absolutely hated it and thought it was way to sweet.
I feel if you started vaping on juice with sweetener you'll want to have it in your arsenal. I have it on hand because some people say in small amounts it improves the juice. IMO even a small amount makes it taste to "sweet".
Funny enough its the most widely spread 'misinformation' in this sub. So many of the big posters here swear there's sweeteners in all premium juice, but none of the ones we've worked with have ever added any. It may be a thing in 'house juices', but not in the major online guys.
The DIY community uses more sweeteners (and demands every brand of them) than any Juice maker I've ever sold to.
Interesting. Are you a flavour vendor?
thanks for the info. but why does commercial juice taste so sweet (and good.. like naked line)
I'm sure different brands have different tricks and habits for how they get their flavor to taste certain ways, but most likely Higher flavor percentages and using a sweeter tasting flavorings to begin with. One of the other posters here mentioned how fruits and citrus can really pop on their own with the right choices, just don't over complicate the recipe or it starts to lose what makes it good.
I had a brief exchange with novavapes recently about sweetener. I don't know if they count as premium but they're highly regarded. They advised to avoid sweetener and to look in to other ways of producing the same effect.
> You want to be looking at melting point and when the sugar will begin to caramelise. Avoid fructose. > > Sucralose is the most commonly used, although if you want sweetness without gunking theirs plenty of naturally sweet flavours which can give similar notes without them caramelising. > > If you must go for a sweetener then I suggest monkfruit extract. Very potent and not very flavourful so can be used across many flavours.
I've never heard of this before but I thought it was encouraging that they take a different approach.
I do flavor development for a fairly large company that sells several premium brands. The correct answer is sometimes.
Some flavors like cakes and other desserts really benefit from it. You wouldn't bake a cake without sugar, would you?
However, some things like berries and citrus are usually sweet enough on their own and become muddled with added sweeteners.
It is worth experimenting and seeing for yourself. There is no universal ingredient that makes juice good. It takes time and hard work to make good juice. It's just as much an art as it is a science.
Agree with this. Keep some sweetener in your arsenal if you want certain notes to pop out in certain mixes. I almost never use sweetener except for a couple of recipes. For example, I was never really able to taste blueberry much until I added some sweetener. It allowed me to get that sweet blueberry jam note I was looking for, especially when contrasting it with a cereal flavor. I use it also with a blue Raspberry flavor to really get that candy note I was looking for. I don't even really find it necessarily gunks up my coils/wicks if I don't put too much. Some other flavors are already sweet or are derived from natural extracts and can gunk up anyway
In my experience sweeteners can add off flavours (EM) or can increase throat hit if used too much (Sucralose) but it does make certain flavours pop. I used to use EM and Sucralose a lot but when I stopped using it I found that it wasn't necessary in any of the flavours I was making and the flavours that it was necessary in were kind of shitty whether I used them or not.
In my experience a couple drops per 100mls will help bring out the flavors in certain juices. It honestly depends on what the recipe is, what flavor profiles your going for etc. My vanilla custard was super sweet without added sweetener, I actually had to rework the percentage because of it. Apple pie I might add in a couple drops because apple pie is sweet.
Consider flavored coffee, it's artificial flavorings much like the ones we use. If you've ever drank it without sugar it's just meh and doesn't really taste like it says. If you add some sugar to it then your like yeah, this taste like chocolate caramel frapafuckingchino.
absolutely not. I've had plenty of juices without it that are simply sweet on their own. EM is probably as far as I'll go if I'm mixing and I'm not even sure if that fits in that category. but sweetener is definitely what defines most commercial "premium" juices.
Many say it’s like salt and a little is needed sometimes to make a recipe pop.
Like salt in food, not in juice, right?
Looks like you weren't clear enough about not actually adding salt to juice for some mental midget.
I’m going to say yes because that juice is sweet. But, hopefully the longer you diy the more you experience ejuice w/o too much sweetner and it will start to taste better to you than the premium juice you used to love and soon you can make juice you luv just as much or more w a considerable amount less of sweetner if any. But it’s good to have a bottle of sweetner in your Arsenal for when you’re craving salt 😝
Many flavor concentrates contain stevia, or sucralose, or EM, or some other compound that will impart a 'sweet' taste. Use enough of those flavors, and added sweetener is pointless.
However, as has been mentioned, there are certain recipes that do call for straight sweetness. I have a cocktail vape I'm still developing that uses some, due to the RL version of the cocktail...
Many 'premium' juices aren't much good, they just rely on being sweet enough to mask their flaws.
Yes, you need sweetener to make your juice as shitty as "premium".
Also make sure when you have so much flavor that it makes you gag, add more.
And when your body refuses to play along any longer and you get "vaper's tongue"...just brush your tongue and drink a barrel of water.
