I’m trying to mix a Rockstar Guava Energy drink flavour from scratch, I’m getting close but the Guava is messing things up. Every type of Guava I’ve tried smells and tastes awful. Is my supplier the problem? Have people enjoyed Guava flavours in the past? Is there a super long steep time with this flavour?

I’ve been using flavour West and perfume apprentice. It smells and tastes so bad. Is there actually any use for it. I did have a quick look but most of what I could see was recipes using the flavour’s. How can they be used if they are that bad.
My recipe for this juice is
•Energy drink (tpa) 5%
•Rockstar Type (FW) 5%
•Grape Candy (tpa) 2%
•Guava .75%
• Super Sweet 1%
•Cotton Candy 1%
I’ve tried this recipe without the Guava. It tastes like it’s pretty much what I want. It’s just lacking the Guava that you can taste with the drink.
I've never used guava as a flavoring so I can't really comment on that but having this information will allow someone who does know guava flavorings to help you out.

on ELR people using TFA Guava note that it's very strong and to start using it around .5%. some even say to use 1 drop per 10ml for flavor. I'd try somewhere between .15% and .25% outside of the mix, i.e. solo, to see where that puts it. Although, some people say it tastes like rancid cat piss so maybe it's just not good in general.
for FW Guava there isn't much information on ELR but we can see that there's no one complaining about the strength of the flavoring.
looking to recent recipes I see a lot of people using FW Guava around 3-5%. I'd try maybe 2% or ~1.5% solo to see if it's right.
Unrelated but I also found this recipe which ... is for perfume i think? It's really confusing how that ended up on ELR and I hope whoever made that didn't vape it. Also throwing it out there that DespicblMe aka ImNachoGrl is a weirdo.
Also the guava could be interacting with one of the other flavors causing it to be less than good. to figure out if that's the case you'd want to test them together in mixes apart from the main mix. i.e. Rockstar type 5% FW Guava .75% one mix, TFA grape candy 2% FW Guava .75% in another. etc.

It looks like maybe it was intended as a mix for a one-shot concentrate? I'm not sure who'd use the resulting concentrate to make a mix out of... maybe /u/hocuskrokus?
I certainly apologize if I’ve unintentionally offended you or if I’ve been out of line it’s certainly not my intention. I realize perception is reality and often that’s not easily translated through text but I didn’t make that perfume recipe and post it in an ejuice forum, I just tried to redirect the person as politely as possible and stress the importance of not vaping it. If that = weirdo then I’m guilty as charged! 😩😂. My guess is you’re a youngster and afraid of most things you don’t recognize, know or are different and that makes you quick to throw labels like weirdo at what it is you’ve yet to learn and/ or understand. I encourage you to expand your narrow minded thinking maybe and try to learn about something before you make derogatory statements about someone or something. I really like FLV Pink Guava. It's insanely strong, but has a beautiful, bright, crisp flavor.
I suggest making a 10% dilution of it and using that instead of straight flavoring. I made a 5% tester with it when I first bought it and about killed my coworker.

I’ve tried flavour West and perfume apprentice. I know I’m close to making this juice, it’s just the lack of the right Guava.
I personally don’t have the Flv pink guava I only have FW guava clear and it smells so awful totally turned me off of guava. Then I heard about the pink and was hopeful I wouldn’t have to give up on guava 😩😂
CAP - Sweet Guava @ 4-5 %
or
FW - Guava @ 2 - 3 %
You could combine those two to give it more of a punch.
Your energy drink flavor may mute the guava quite a bit, so go light on it.
I went through many of the Guava's trying to clone Guava Pop.
Capella Sweet Guava - Best Guava, Candy like, Sweet, No other guava like it, Stands out over all the rest. (Def the main flavor in Guava Pop)
LA Guava (Colorless) - My second favorite Guava, Ripe, Light and fruity, Sweet, Slightly candy'ish
FW Guava - Light, Candy'ish, Pretty good
Flavorah Pink Guava - Pink Mexican store guava juice bottle, but with a tart and sour kick
