Midnight Oil
submitted over 7 years ago by RamboUnchained

Just a little recipe that I use to help avert my sinuses and allow me to stay up late working on my DIY business.

  • 2% INW Eucalyptus w/ Mint
  • it's basically a vapable version of Vick's vapor rub.
  • 3% FW Menthol
  • One of the ingredients found in Vick's to trick your brain into the "feeling" of breathing better.
  • 1% WS-23
  • A cooling agent that helps soothe the canals in your ENT.
  • .5% FA Cherry/ INW Raspberry
  • It's here solely for a little bit of flavor.
  • .25% FA Lemon Sicily
  • Helps make your flavor "pop" a little. And a little lemon is good for colds, right?

Mix at max VG especially if high PG ratios bother your throat. This mix should allow you to continue vaping even when you can only breath out of your mouth lol.

Just got my menthol and eucalyptus today just for this purpose, so what a coincidence to see a recipe.

Can confirm, it's some cough sauce.

I love that you have a Eucalyptus juice called "Midnight Oil," since eucalyptus is native to Australia and all.

That's all. Goes back to what he was doing, now singing "Beds Are Burning" under his breath.

Came here for this reference, was not disappointed. Still no idea what a truganini (sp) is though.

Have you tried hash oil?

2 points

by RamboUnchainedover 7 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

Yeah, but it doesn't do anything for cold symptoms. At least not for me. It helps with my anxiety, though.

Never heard of it! What is that exactly?

Weed

I've never really put much thought into it, but now that you mention it... Do people ever mix flavors in with oil? Or add nicotine? Is that a thing? Or is the oil too thick?

2 points

by n0tveganover 7 years ago

Vaping oils is dangerous, lipid pneumonia and such.

I got a gram of 99% (990mg/g) pure isolate powder from hemp direct and dissolved it into 100mL of PG and made some 1000mg/mL CBD that I add to some of my juices. It's flavorless, but I wouldn't suggest mixing it with nicotine as it can have adverse effects.

Interesting.... I may have some research to do...

Love this stuff when I am sick but once I’m over it, I hate IT! Lol

2 points

by RamboUnchainedover 7 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

Lol, that's understandable. It's definitely not something I vape for pleasure lol. This tastes like a cough drop, though. And I kinda like cough drops lol.

Yeah it’s like one of those things that the smell reminds me of sick like peppermint tea so then I don’t want it.

I caught the flu yesterday and mixed up something a bit more simple because I didn't feel like tinkering, but yeah that menthol...like vaping a cough drop..

PSA for people worried about vaping oils:

INW Eucalyptus and mint contains eucalyptus oil and I would not go near it personally.

Had no idea I was the first to bring this up. Glad I could finally contribute something!

But there’s no lipids in eucalyptus essential oil. This ones totally safe

Pretty sure this is talking about using it in its concentrated state and not diluted to 2% of an entire mixture. But I appreciate the link.

This sounds really good! I have had a flu like illness all this week, feel like utter crap. But the worst of it is I can't even vape. So far 3 days with no nicotine. Patience is running thin!

by RamboUnchainedover 7 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

I most definitely understand where you're coming from. My throat was so torn up from coughing that I could hardly even vape this for a couple of days, but I powered through it cuz I knew that the people around me would hate me if I didn't get my nic fix lol.

how effective are these types of Vapes for when you're sick? usually when I come down with something sinus related I don't think about vaping for fear of my mouth and sinuses getting dry

2 points

by RamboUnchainedover 7 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

Just drink plenty of water and you'll be fine. Stuff like this is usually ALL that I can vape when I'm sick.

Have you thought about adding evergreen to the mix somewhere?

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 7 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

Na I didn't want any spearmint or peppermint flavoring in this mix. I'm sure it would work pretty well though.

I recently whipped out my old koolada I hardly used bc I've been craving icy and sweet fruits. Was about to order Eucalyptus w/ Mint to make stuff like this. Great for summer!

2 points

by RamboUnchainedover 7 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

If you just want cold, ws23 is the bees knees right now. It doesn't carry any flavor with it. Just straight chills.

1 points

by Binsky89over 7 years ago

Could WS-23 be substituted for koolada? I think I have everything but that.

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 7 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

It can be but Koolada has a bit of a "chemical" bite to it IMO. Not everyone can taste it at 1%, but I can. I'd say take it down to .75% or .5% if you're one of the people that can taste it.

1 points

by Aerdiover 7 years ago

Using Koolada at those percentages does do anything? I'm going between 3-4%, and it's often still not freezing enough for me.

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 7 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

It just varies from person to person. I've never used it above 2% myself and I tend to get plenty of cooling from it.

1 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

1.5% WS-3 (aka koolada)
1.5% WS-5
1.5% WS-23
(then add flavor. 3% INW Grapes works really well)

Very cold, at first. If everything you vape uses cooling agents, tho... it's easy to build up a tolerance.

Do you add 0.5% FA Cherry plus 0.5% INW Raspberry or just one of them at 0.5%?

1 points

by RamboUnchainedover 7 years ago"I Bet I Could Clone That"

Just one.
