Apparently happened about 40mins ago, anyone know what's going on?
Sounds like Reddit is getting dangerously close to needing to be replaced just like everything before it.
They’ve already been on that level for years, but people refuse to leave. Much like facebook. Plus the lack of a good alternative. Voat is infested with Nazis and racists so it can’t really be used.
Right but again, if a few hundred thousand people take their communities over there, eventually the edgy fucks kinda fade off into their own little space.
Or... (Tinfoil hat time) what's the best way to protect your platform? Why, make the other ones insufferable. I wouldn't be surprised to find out a number of accounts are bots or shills purposely making it such. I mean, I've known some shitty people in life but rarely did anyone ever bother to show up somewhere completely unrelated to just spew hateful nonsense.
I mean, it's pretty obvious that reddit, or some entity that relies on reddit, brought down voat. It was a simple imageboard like reddit before the Ellen Pao and Spez drama, and suddenly everyone talking about needing an alternative drives the bigots to voat?
Can't believe your post is garnering down-votes- it's true. Reddit has been on the decline for years. This is my second account in 10 years, I've seen it all. It's a failing platform being destroyed from the inside, out. I quite enjoy when they start shutting stuff down- it inspires people to find better alternatives. More than one competing social website has been created from it, and there's more to come.
You can't regulate the internet- if you think you can, you simply don't understand how it works. Shutting these subreddits down is simply forcing people to go elsewhere/ create new things. More than one of the subs that was shut down is already back up and running on a competing service. Now, these subs are moving to platforms that can't be shut down.

lol what a joke. Perfect example of fixing something that was never broken.
Yep. And hate-filled subs like TD are still allowed
What about politics and their calls for mayocide? You're okay with that? Or is there a rationale on how "That's different"?
This is your can of worms you opened. I'm just taking a peek inside.
[Edit] Hmmm. No response. I guess u/EdibleMalfunction has a "fragile mind".
I'm the mod of r/diyclassifieds
We can regroup there but -- no nicotine allowed for now.
Edit: there are (so far) 0 sales threads. if you want to sell your juice or coils or whatever, this is probably a good time to get some exposure...
Sounds like a plan, if people want nicotine added they just need to be redirected off-site to complete that transaction.
Could everything be done the same, except hash out details about nic via PM? Obviously nic couldn't be listed at all, maybe say something in the sidebar about the two parties taking care of details via PM?
I'm in. Let me know if there's something I can do.
I'd like to recruit some mods. Any recommendations? People the community respect, who would make good decisions regarding rules and problems.
Well, I hope we can find a way for people to still make a living through sales somewhere. I don't know how much money DIY sellers make, but I do know that many of them have a large following that loves the juice each DIYer makes, so hopefully something can be worked out to make everyone happy. Seems it will have to be off of Reddit though.
This is me. I have a FB group with a lot of my following in it but not all of them were on social media. I'd say only about 70% of my customer base is in the group. Fortunately, selling juice isn't my only job but I know it is for some.
I'd look for facebook to put a stop to it before too long. They already came down pretty hard on vape shops a while back and have been removing other trading/selling groups for a while now. Youtube and reddit have been doing it too. Youtube deleted a bunch of channels yesterday and then this today from Reddit. Most people aren't aware of it until it hits a group they are a part of but its a growing problem.
Yep, we've been vending on that sub for over two years and this morning took us by surprise. Crazy.
/r/DIY_eJuiceExchange/ still exists but probably not for much longer. if there's anything important hosted on that sub i hope they've got backups.

E: it's sort of interesting that they're banning ecig stuff. as far as i'm aware nicotine is neither a controlled substance nor tobacco.
>As of today, users may not use Reddit to solicit or facilitate any transaction or gift involving certain goods and services, including:
-
Firearms, ammunition, or explosives;
-
Drugs, including alcohol and tobacco, or any controlled substances (except advertisements placed in accordance with our advertising policy);
-
Paid services involving physical sexual contact;
-
Stolen goods;
-
Personal information;
-
Falsified official documents or currency
You have to be over a certain age to buy nicotine products, so it's a controlled substance.
I don't agree with the rules, but I can see their point.
What surprised me is that there must have been classified firearms subs.
Well fuck you Reddit! Seriously, I don't sell juice but I've referred several people looking for good juice to hash.
So does this effectively shut down any vendor giveaways in the ECR sub as well?
I've been selling my whorechata recipe on Facebook I didn't even think about trying on here.
I would be careful about doing that on Facebook. Seems like there’s something coming down the pipeline from the FDA. Not to mention that shit is all totally public.
Honestly I am surprised it didn't happen sooner. While I certainly don't agree with it and we should all be doing our part to fight the FDA regs the sub wasn't above board.
In the FDA's eyes they are manufacturers and are subject to the same requirements that all ejuice manufacturers are including age verification, submitting documentation, no new or custom products, beginning the PMTA process ect and that is just on the FDA side. There is also the tax side of things which I doubt were being strictly adhered to and you don't want to fuck with the IRS.
Hmm, literally the day I say to myself hey I bet Reddit makes some great juice for cheap.
I haven't checked but i hope the flavor exchange sub is still going , just flavors that you don't like or won't ever use.
/u/ID10-T is MC going to go private/off site?
It just occurred to me it could be an issue as well and I was just about to be in a place where I could participate.
There’s no nicotine at all involved and that’s clearly stated in the rules and repeated frequently. Hopefully that will save it.
What's that sub?
/r/concentrade
but it's been dead for a bit
Here's a sneak peek of /r/concentrade using the top posts of all time!
