Must have filler flavorings ?
submitted over 7 years ago by gspgreases

Got into DIY a few months back. Picked up alot of flavors mainly fruits and desserts. I think I got a decent stable but would like to add ''something'' to mixes to give it umph. Must haves, add to alot of flavors. So any suggestions ?

Ethyl Maltol (PG) is something ive heard in the past.

Fa pear, inw cactus

Am I the only one that thinks that one cactus ruins the taste of everything it touches? It's got this weird, slimey, smell-of-durian taste (and I enjoy durian) at even the lowest of percentages. Sort of like aloe vera juice way past it's expiration date. I can't use that stuff anymore.

I don't mean to hate on your post, I know most people seem to like it.

The beauty of diy is that everyone can mix according to their in tastes.

I feel about cap vcv1 and if sweet strawberry the way u feel about cactus. They both taste rotten to me, but are some highly popular flavors around here.

I like it for the most part but it does have a distinctive taste that shows up and you can tell it's in there. Some recipes it's a little much

me neither. even a few drops completely ruin it for me. i cant use that stuff in no way shape or form. I tried to like it, I really did, because of the love it gets but its not for me.

I think cactus is overrated, folks wanna put it in everything.

"It makes it wet and moist" < it's vapor, its already wet and moist lmao

What does fa apricot bring to a mix? Juiciness like cactus?

Yessir! It doesn't make mixes as "wet" as cactus but it doesn't change the flavor as much as cactus either. Ive found that it works way better with dark berries and citrus than cactus. I tend to leave cactus for pairing with fruits like strawberries, kiwi, and pineapple.

For Sugar Cookie, I think the only choice is V1, personally.

I love V1, but in my experience, V2 steeps out very similar. Its one of the only ones I've tried that does this. But I'm all for V1's and originals. don't care for dx/v2 anything generally

According to the elr recipes I read, apparently I should have spent $500 on a couple hundred different fawking creams and vanilla bases.

It's nice to have options but for vanilla i feel like INW Shisha Vanilla, TPA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (you might be a pepper taster, if you don't know what i mean just search real quick), FA Madagascar Vanilla and TPA Vanilla Swirl will get you covered.

Creams are a different story tho haha

INW Elderflower (Sneaky good.)
FA Marzipan (I don't like Meringue, and a lot of marshmallows have a bit of a off taste...so this is a good thick sweet flavor. Also can give a hint of cherry.)
TFA Honeysuckle (I just started using this one, and already can see using it a lot.)
WS-5
WS-23
FA Polar Blast
(others have already mentioned the other big choices.)

Depending on what you want, FA Bitter Wizard and/or INW Smoked Plum could be handy if you need to dry out a mix. FA Amber can also be useful. And you may end up using a sweetener. Or, if you talk to /u/chemicalburnvictim enough, you may end up with the irresistible urge to add INW DNB to every mix.

Damn, that liquid amber is fantastic to recreate a smoky taste. Got a shisha double apple going strong in the turkish vape community near me.

FA Meringue, TFA Marshmallow (there's probably a lot of good marshmallows I'm not familiar with), coconut, TFA Butter, Acetyl Pyrazine, graham cracker

This is a good question and thread. Those sneaky flavors really make a recipe pop.

TPA Strawberry Ripe.

I can't even taste strawberry but it adds a lot to fruit/candy mixes (shit ton of EM).

TPA - Hibiscus 🌺 (adds a different type of “commercial” effect)

HS - Blueberry (Good base and can be manipulated to a slight “blue” note at sub 00.20%)

FA - Strawberry Juicy 🍓 (For those who can’t stand SB Ripe or Sweet Strawberry) (Doubles as sweetener below 00.75%)

Acetyl pyrazine - a tiny amount adds a kind of nutty twist to deserts and bakeries. Not really a flavor on its own but a kind of spice to make other flavors pop.

FW Hazelnut seems to be a useful additive, not always necessarily relating to nuts. Seen it used to bring strawberries together for example.

yes! I use it a lot in cake, cookie, and strawberry recipes. its in my 4 oz club for sure

FA Black currant - sweetness, low percentages.

FA Meringue - cheat flavoring for cereal or anything that needs a sugary sweetness. it's a crutch.

FA Pear - moisture, sweetness, a little body.

INW Cactus - moisture, try .25-.5%

CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl - use it in bakeries. It fills in gaps as long as what you want in the end has cinnamon in it. You can also try FW Churro for a lighter cinnamon dough flavor that works well with cds.

TFA/FA Marshmallow - Another sweetener. FA tastes closer to a bagged marshmallow. TFA's is just thick and sweet to me.

CAP Cereal 27 - Light honey grain cereal. very useful in a whole lot of things.

TFA Cotton Candy - this is just ethyl maltol. It's useful for kneecapping flavors that are too strong (muting) and reducing harshness. It's also sweet so if you fuck up the recipe this can help make it vape-able. Usually.

TFA Smooth - Triacetin. This is used for blending flavors. Use it by the drop. 1-2 drops per 30ML. It also will mute the hell out of your recipes. Be careful with it.

TFA Koolada - Coolness without being minty. It has a sort of plastic-y off flavor. try Grack Juice for a great example of how it works.

When folks say moisture or "wet" about cactus, do they mean like mouth feel/vape feel?

My favorite commercial juice is Fogged Out Vapes "Cactus Candy" and it's basically like a silky cloud on my tongue/in mouth.

I have some INW Cactus on the way for mixing and I'm pumped to sneak some in other mixes if it's going to impart the same silkiness to finished mix!

yes but i guess it's a little hard to explain? it's juicy.

"Jacked up cactus candy" ? i'd bet it also has jack fruit in it.
