Hey guys, I'm living in a part of earth where it's very difficult to get basic DIY e-liquid. Luckily, I was able to find a place where they sell One Shot Concentrates. I really like the Lava Flow By Naked100, but I can't seem to find a one shot concentrate for it.
For those who love sweet creamy flavors, is there any one shot concentrate that taste almost like Lava Flow? if not, can you suggest me any alternative?

Never tried Lava Flow but chances are you could find something similar at Chefs Flavors as they have nearly 400 one shots to search through. Good luck in your quest.

Just went to whip up a fresh batch of juices, and can I get the childproof, push and twist cap off my nicotine?.......no, of course I can't!
It's not a new bottle, maybe 3 quarters full of a 500ml bottle, worked fine last time I used it but now it feels like it's not catching on the push down movement. I've ripped my palms to shit trying to get it open with no joy! Any of you got any tips before I end up smashing the top off it?

What's the best strawberry nesquik recipe out there? Something like captivape's strawberry milk. For the life of me I can't seem to find it and most recipes I've found have been strawberry custard, not strawberry milk.

I have not. Honestly, in my diy adventures so far, I hadn't given much thought to diketone-free mixes at all.

no i haven't tried it yet, but i bought all the ingredients to try it, its just that the nicotine I ordered is a bad batch. Also Fizz says he likes the diketone free version more than the original and bad reviews are only about the original, which is why I talked about the diketone free version.
why would anyone bother looking for a diketone-free version of anything? it takes months of vaping to get a week's worth of the diketones that smoking provided...
lol I didn't look up a diketone-free version of anything, I only looked for a good recipe for strawberry milk(boosted clone). It just happens that the creator prefers the diketone free version flavor wise(as written in the comments). and bad reviews seem to be solely base on the original 2 ingredient recipe. Also whether you care about diketone free or not, I don't think you should dismiss certain recipes simply because it is diketone free. For instance, there are people that actually prefer diet soda to their originals.
Can I get an answer to the first point? I'm just starting DIY, don't even know what I should order. So in this case, since you are starting from the ground up, you should go check out our sidebar. There’s so much more information there than what I could type out here. I will say you will want to start out mixing by weight with a scale, though.
So these are some basic supplies:

Scale that measures down to 0.01 g without an auto-shutoff. (AWS-LB501 is the recommended one)

I liked to use blunt tipped syringes when I started out on small batches. Get an assorted mix from Amazon if you go that route. I mix by volume now, but for test batches I still use my trusty syringes.
The my first order flavors in the side bar is a great reference to first flavors, and a few starting recipes. Alltheflavors.com is also a good resource, you can choose a flavor and get an idea of what others use it in.
Fruit flavors are good to mix, generally not to hard, and most have short steep times. No matter what I'm mixing during a session, you can count on at least one fruit flavor getting mixed as well.

Maybe a small thing of PG.
Bottles.
RDA to test with.
And don't forget bottles.
I'm serious, you'll run out of bottles faster than you think.

Is anybody having issues with FLV Marshmallow, FLV Whipped Cream? Even at low percentages and after a long steep, these flavours have the same potent off-note that destroys mixes on me. Just wondering could the culprit be be Ethyl Maltol ( Cotton Candy) which I might have a sensitivity to.
Do you have any problems with any TFA flavors? Or better yet, do you have many TFA flavors you don't have problems with? Check to see if EM is in those.
That said, I doubt it's EM. More likely one of the vanillins. What is the off note? And is it only those flavors, and how old are they?
Hi Juthnic. Thanks for the reply.I have no problems with other flavours, even ones that contain high amounts of E.M like Strawberry Ripe . It has only happened to me with those flavours so far, which i flavour-tested and used in recipes.
So maybe it's not the E.M after all Must be the vanillin being used cause it really grosses me out. It's a pity cause i really loved the reviews of those two. Have no issues with TFA or FA Marshmallow though, so life is still bearable; I love a Marshmallow treat now and again
Well, there are a shitload of vanillins used in commercial flavorings, some of them are funkier than others (although much more potent, and thus more useful in making large batches) so it's possible all three use one of the less common ones.
Hopefully one day, all flavor houses will be as open as TFA is about what's in their flavors... then we can more effectively isolate culprits in cases like this.
Oh, one last thing: how long of a steep is the longest you've tried? Any chance they're all using butyric? (Do they taste of puke to you?) If so, add a month or three to the steep, and they might be better... (I doubt this is the case, but there is a chance. And if so, the old rule of never go anywhere near a DX or V2 flavor is especially true in your case, as you may be a supertaster for that one compound.)
Is royal orange (premium) fa the same as Royal orange juice ?
Is there a smell to Nicotine Salt Solution in VG? Is it normal that my fresh bottle reeks of burnt rubber as soon as I open the bottle? 100mg/ml VG Salt solution Is what I ordered.

I'm not sure if I know what gasoline byproduct smells like, but I guess it could be? Its definitely a rubbery smell though, a VERY STRANGE smell. Its also quite pungent, like fresh bottle opened, reeked without even putting my nose near it. Is this normal? because I ordered Salt Nicotine Solution once before this, albeit in PG and it was scentless. Also the VG I ordered along with this smelly solution is also scentless.
Just in case, get new nic. It’s not worth it. Just chalk it up to getting a bad batch. Not sure why the nic salt craze anyway, I use the same nic in my breeze and it’s just fine if anyone worries they must use nic salts I don’t believe you do. Trust your inner voice and it’s probably telling you yuk this is no good maybe u should listen...;)
Yea this solution was nasty, and I shouldn't have even tried, considering Nude Nicotine's Salt solution that I've tried was odorless. But on your point with the Nicotine Salt, I wish it didn't satisfy me as much, but when I vape 6mg (regular), I'm severely lacking throat hit, meanwhile 12mg juices gives me the coughs, it's so harsh I can't handle it. Doesn't help that juice companies don't make 9mg, and if I'm going to DIY anyway, might as well splurge. I vape only MTL too, so that might have something to do with it as well.
Just getting into this and looking to buy first batch of nicotine (and everything else). Everything else seems fairly simple, but nicotine is throwing me. Mainly because from looking around at a bunch of posts, I'm seeing 3 places to get it from:

I also see that there are more, but, these already present some issues. Mainly, pricing. I figured I'd start by getting a 500ml bottle of 100mg/ml VG nic. At Nic River that's $34.99, Carolina Xtract it's $89.99 and Nude Nicotine is $57.00
Is there a reason for such different pricing? I'm not including shipping in those, it's just the base. What should I get? Obviously, I would rather pay less, but if I'm getting worse nic...

Definitely agree with using Nic River for your first order but if I were you I'd get a smaller quantity of Nic and make up the difference to free shipping in flavors and VG/PG. Keep in mind that if you vape something like 70/30 VG/PG you'll need a lot less PG than VG, due to the fact that part of the 30% PG is the PG in your flavoring. Is there a reason you want to start with VG nic?
I use VG nic just for ease of use for me. It takes a little more time to break down into the glass dropper bottles from bulk. But I find it a little easier for me to control without spilling when I'm adding it to my mixes. I just have to make sure to shake everything very well and haven't had any problems like that.
What reason is there to prefer PG based nic?
I've recently switched from VG to PG. PG is a lot easier to work with IMO, as you can pipette it out instead of using syringes/using a squeezy bottle. It's also quicker to blend a quick batch, as a few shakes and I am more confident it has blended somewhat properly into the mix.
I don't think I'll be going back to VG. Only reason would be for max VG juice, which I'm not a fan of any more, being more interested in flavour.

Reasoning for VG? I figured if I want to make max VG juice, it would be good to have... Of course, I don't actually vape max VG, usually 80/20 so... I'm not actually sure. Keeping that option open? lol
Also, as far as the quantity and price is concerned, I'm definitely shopping around and I'll save money where I can, but it's not like the $90/bottle price would put me off. I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing out on super high quality stuff and getting distilled horse piss by saving a few bucks. As it stands, I go thru a ton of juice a month, $200+ from my local shop and if I can save a bit of that money and actually learn something along the way, that would be nice.
If you make a list of recipes you're interested in mixing up you'll probably see that most of them are well under 20% total flavor, so those would all work out to 80/20 easily with PG nic. If you are wanting to push the VG to the max, definitely get VG Nic, though. There's nothing inherently wrong with it except for the fact that, as a beginner (and especially if you're not mixing by weight) it can be a PITA to work with due to its viscosity.

If you have the time and are interested in cereals it might be worth checking out the cereal FOTW and cereals episode of Noted.
You could probably use TFA cheesecake graham crust and something for a touch of honey flavor and a bit of TFA A.P. to make a Golden Grahams kinda thing...
Note: do not attempt a all-tfa solution for this.... in no way am I suggesting you enter the same time zone as a bottle of TFA Honey.
Also, old school cereal mixes used CAP Sugar Cookie, and again there are a few graham cracker flavors that can work.
Thinking about purchasing the MyWeigh iBalance 201 to start mixing, any thoughts or suggestions about which scale to go with?
While I'm sure that's a nice scale and looks well made, the price point and the fact that it only has a capacity of 200g would stop me from getting it. If I were you I'd get something like this or at least shop around for one that has a 500g capacity and better price.
I vaped my lemon/menthol juice after eating a Cinnamon Fudge and OH. MY. GOD. The aftertaste of the cinnamon mixed with the menthol vape was adsurdly good!
Can you guys point me to a good cinnamon/menthol recipe? If it helps, the fudge was sweet and spicy, made of evaporated milk, brown sugar, cinnamon and marshmallow cream.

Some background: I love apple fritter type pastries. got a tip from a user here about pairing fuji with liquid amber. it finally made apple taste good to me. I began experimenting from the bottom up and exploring the development of the tastes as kind of a different way to explore testers. I used an apple base of 3% fuji with 2%LA to start and then would add one other flavor in three other tests and whichever one I liked, I followed up on to continue development with. nothing too fancy but it's been fun for me. Now that it has gotten to a few ingredients, i can see that i'm again limited by my lack of knowledge/experience (of even what my own tastes are, which has been the most fun part of this for me).
recipe thus far: Almond (FA) 2.00% Fuji Apple (FA) 3% Funnel Cake (CAP) 0.50% Liquid Amber (FA) 2% Pear (FA) 1.00% Rich Cinnamon (Flavorah) 0.10% RY4 Double (TPA) 1.00% Sugar Cookie (CAP) 2.00%
as is, i enjoy it. right now i feel the flavor is mostly balanced with a strong apple note that blends with background flavors well. I like the powdery funnel cake mouthfeel so will likely reduce the % until I find the sweet spot.
thinking: pear - added to enhance apple depth almond - added to bridge gap between fried doughy funnel cake and apple without adding extra bakery; at 2% i dont notice it ry4 double - an experiment to add a caramel taste that had some earthiness and sweetness sugar cookie - added for a buttery ness that funnel cake lacked and more of a pastry cinnamon while still adding some bakery body
a prior suggestion was to add double apple to extend apple flavor life through steep, but that was on just the fruit portion.
where would you take this? (doesnt have to be an apple fritter type) What would you drop/reduce/raise? looking for an unexpected left turn or out of the (my) box thinking? mostly willing to try anything as long as I have it, but also going to put in a new order soon so collecting tips now.

CAP Sugar Cookie is another good choice. It doesn’t add any cinnamon though.

I'd drop everything except the Fuji and cinnamon, add some clove, nutmeg, and rum or Whiskey. Then maybe some smoked plum and a tobacco.
I did do it with Fuji cinnamon and clove. Don’t have nutmeg rum or whiskey. Or smoked plum. Might have to add some to the next order and see what happens.
Hey guys so I've been mixing for about 2 months now and have really enjoyed it thus far. I've built up a substancial flavor catalogue probably 50-60 different flavors but I have a hard time figuring out where to start. I've been mostly finding stuff that looks good on forum and ELR and then sort of playing with existing recipes and augmenting them and stuff like that but thus far I have no original recipes. Maybe I went overboard in buying so many different flavors to begin with that I feel overwhelmed.
Although making and toying with other peoples flavor profiles has given me sort of an idea of the general way that people will mix, like x amount of fruityness, y amount of creamyness, or A percentage for your dominate flavors, or B amount for your accent flavors and shit like that.
I was just wondering you mythical generators of original content, how do you come up with new flavors that actually taste good? Its not like I have no creativity, I've got ideas for days about what might be good but every time I mix it it doesnt turn out the way I anticipate.
Another question I've got for you guys is how do you know about each of the base flavors you possess? Like I see that I need X flavor for this recipe I wanna try and order it and use it and can kind of pick out its nuance from the profile but I wouldnt necessarily know what it would be good in.

Yep, every new flavor that I pick up. And often I'll re-visit particular flavors. This laborious process is where I get a lot of pairing ideas/inspirations.
So today I received my new order of nicotine. In the past I would take the bottle and break it down into 30ml glass dropper bottles, label and use as needed to avoid excess exposure to air. I'm thinking that instead of doing that this time, maybe I should try something different. I was wondering if just topping off a 30ml ldpe clear plastic bottle might not be easier/more efficient without compromising the nicotine over time.
I have two 150ml bottles at 48mg/ml. One is freebase, the other is smooth salts. Both from Nic River and both in VG. Would it be alright to just use a single 30ml plastic bottle for the nicotine? Refill as needed. Or should I stick to breaking down into glass bottles? In both cases they would be stored in the same place, room temperature and away from light/movement.

I am still on the lookout for a good dark berry flavor to go in to a tobacco. I never ended up getting the FLV Blackberry Blossom because I saw /u/ID10-T comment back then about how it sounded like TFA Blackberry, and that’s the flavor I’m trying to run away from. I’ve tried INW Blackcurrant, and it’s still a bit too bright for my liking.
I’m basically trying to boost the dark berry notes that are in INW Black for Pipe without getting too floral or tart. FW Wild Berry Cobbler sounds a bit interesting, but I don’t want any bakery notes. I do have one other idea brewing in my little brain, but figured I would ask here since I have very little interest in loading up on a bunch of berry flavors to test out.
How to you feel about cocoa in there? FLV Açaí might work for that
Well son of a bitch. I came here to thank you for recommending FLV Boysenberry, because that’s what I ordered and it worked out perfectly (as far as I can tell) but just now saw I got the wrong thing. Either way, thanks for the recommendation. I’ll probably just keep it with the boysenberry because it’s pretty damn good and doesn’t have any weird floral things going on like TFA Blackberry.

Of the Flavorah range I got in, I like Native the best( nice honey notes) but the others- Red Burley etc- are too musky and cigary (woody or nutty).

Hi Juthnic. I just got Holy Grail RY4 and am loving it. It's even quite good as a stand in caramel for when you need one on a recipe.

I have a bust a nut recipe question, I am a big fan of northlands nuts and cream so I figured I would give this a try. On day one it was smooth and tasty but by day three it was extremely harsh.
I am sure it is not the nicotine as I am using vapers tek and my other yogurt mix is really smooth and tasty.
has anyone else had an issue with the throat hit with any of the flavors in this one or have any suggestions for a good nut mix? I mixed by weight and used the exact flavor list but subbed the sweetner with a marshmellow. Thanks.

I’m not understanding why you’re just cranky? You were a noob once too and no one wants you to be such a dick, feel me? First of all, I think it’s very much a mixing question, but if you think it isn’t can’t you politely tell him so and best direct him where to ask? Do you want someone talking to your son or daughter that way, ( dickish)? I think not...;). Maybe a little more of the superior mixing advice and less of the superiority attitude would be a nice change. Or if you can’t help yourself, pass on the question! Lol Being a new mixer is overwhelming enough and if they’re afraid to ask a question because you’ve not been laid in 6 months, then maybe they stop mixing and go back to smoking and on the way to buy a pack of smokes they get hit by a car crossing the street you’d feel terrible ya?,! If I see a recipe that is 60vg/ and 12% flavor and I would like to make it 80vg should I up the flavor percentage to compensate for reduced pg?

No. It depends on the flavors used. But there is a general guideline based on flavor profile.
