Hello! Well, I’ve been a long time study and faithful daily reader of everything on this forum and many others and it’s amazing what I’ve learned and even more amazing how much more there is too learn. It’s a rabbit hole that’s bottomless lol... anyway, here’s my problem.. First of all, I’ve committed to this FULLY, 110%! I’ve got almost 500 concentrates and I don’t even mess w tobaccos I have maybe 3 tobaccos. I am and have been ready to do this, but, I’ve almost resigned to the fact some of us, and maybe I’m one, are just not meant to create recipes but maybe just make others that are tried and true. I say this because I don’t feel like I taste things like other people that do the reviews.. I don’t know how to taste a top, medium and/or bottom note. I don’t know how to taste mouthfeel, or when it’s thick or thin. And I’ve heard it said it just takes practice, but it’s been a year, lol, it’s not getting better. A sft feels like such a waste of time because my notes say, “ tastes sweet”, “tastes good”, “ yep,tastes like blueberry or pina colada...”, lol 😩😂... I thought I was a good cook until I started doing this and now I’ve decided I don’t know Shit about cooking and I’m ok w that because I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this and I look forward to lea4ning more but I’m wondering if some of the more experienced mixers think some of us might just not be equipped to cut it making our own recipes or do you think everyone gets better and it’s just a time thing? I mean seriously.. you won’t hurt my feelings I just want to know? Sft’ing is the single most impt task we have to do w our flavors but when your notes are worthless what’s the point? Does this make sense? I won’t stop one way or the other, I’ll keep reading and learning and trying to get better but my focus and attentions might shift if I make a decision about it one way or the other. And if you think I can get better do u have any suggestions how or can u tell me how you know what a top note is? How you know it’s chewy mouthfeel? Maybe you can explain for me mouthfeel? Maybe help me simplify it some... thx for taking the time to read this and respond if u choose to I’m very thankful and happy to be part of this great community! God speed cunts ...lol
If you don't trust your own judgment of flavor, just assume that what /u/concreteriver says is true (which is a safe assumption.) So any recipe, base your mixing percentages on his ~~commandments~~recommendations and you should be fine. Then it's just a matter of figuring out which flavors should go together.
I have often felt the same as you, but I'm slowly learning and trying to develop a better awareness of taste. A while back I was going to ask the same questions as you but tried a search and found this thread, it's a good one:

My flavor reviews have improved after practicing on food as well as ejuice flavorings. Some reviews improve because I go back and try them again -- then read the flavor reviews already posted here in the sub, if there is one. A good example is INW Black for Pipe. All I could say in the beginning was thick and satisfying. Now I can say there is a lot if body and some smoky kinda fruitiness, the review helped me realize it was plum.
Most of all the concentrates taste different from each other to me now. Initially I'd have said CAP Double Apple and FA Fuji were VERY similar. Now I can note the differences between the two and include that in my notes. I can taste the peel in Fuji and not much in Double apple. At a higher percentage the Fuji feels a little acidic, crisp and almost harsh, the Double is more red and ripe but a bit boring - like a softer baking apple vs an eating apple but one I picked fresh at an orchard, not from a store.
Others might disagree with my opinion of those two, but those notes and comparisons make sense to ME. Apple is one of my absolute favorite flavors to vape so I'm more in tune with it. I'm getting there with peach flavors, but couldn't advise you on strawberries at all. I'm not into that flavor as much so I depend on the reviews of others when deciding if and what to order.
I've also come to realize that if a review mentions candy, chances are I'm not going to like it but it may help enhance other flavors.
A good example of that is these two....FA White Peach now - realistic, a bit sweet, sort of ripe, not quite enough body for me. CAP Juicy Peach - fake, candyish, tastes like it was picked way too early and then got mushy on my kitchen counter. Add a little of the CAP to the FA and I like it, but can't tell you exactly why yet, lol.
My first notes on those were like... FA White Peach - "kinda real. good." CAP Juicy Peach - "Ick. Toss it?"
I'm doubtful that I will ever be a reviewer discussing top notes or identifying specific fruits in the background (unless maybe it's apple) but I'm pleasantly surprised at what I am able to taste now. I think it's also helped me be a little better at cooking. I'm far less likely to toss too much and too many seasonings in these days because I have more appreciation for the individual flavors themselves.
Anybody here that can explain me what makes a premium ejuice, because I have not bought one ever, thanks in advance.
Sweetener and branding
I have 12 flavours on the way (along with req. supplies) but I'm not sure what kind of amounts or ratios between flavours to craft a recipe from scratch.
I'll be using a calculator for exact measurements of each component, what I mean is knowing the ratios to use to achieve desired final flavour by combining seperate flavours . Is it just trial and error if you're not working from an established recipe?
If you ARE starting from scratch, what kind of % of each flavour would you want to aim for in a simple 2 or 3 flavour blend..
Example...GF wants me to make "Blue raspberry cotton candy". I have blue raspberry, I have cotton candy, and some others as well to add sweetness or tart or smooth it out. My first instinct here is to use 2:1 cotton candy to blue razz, so the cotton candy is dominant but flavored with the blue razz...but what overall content in the final mix should flavour be?
Am I on the right track thinking about it this way?
It helps to get to know a flavor concentrate. Just because it says ‘blue raspberry ‘ on the bottle, doesn’t mean that’s what you will taste. Make small batch testers. I made a small sample of Philippine mango and didn’t like it. Tried it again last night after leaving it alone for a few weeks and I loved it. Welcome to the world of wtf’s.
Makes sense. I did order a ton of small bottles lol. In terms of the practicalities of mixing, what is good amount of ml to aim for in terms of making test batches? 5ml?

I’m not very experienced but I usually mix 15ml. I’ll rip about 3 on my rda to taste. 5 in a tank later and leave about five for way later after I’m bored with it. More experienced mixers may have a better methodology. Usually I just Frankenstein whatever’s left for shits and giggles with whatever I feel like or just add a drop of menthol before it’s done if I’m bored with it.
I used to do it 0 mg but now add a little nic because it’s more like how I’d actually use it. So probably that’s why I finish it these days! Hahaha
When I test new recipes, most of the time I'll make 30ml. Mainly because I go through that much juice in a day, and since I switch up flavors regularly during the day, I've got three or four days to see what I want to change. But I'm usually pretty confident about what a mic I'd gonna turn out like. If I wasn't, I'd probably do 10ml at a time.

One of them is not on my list, seems to be added extra? Or they mispacked. Since I didn't research this one, I'm trying to find info on what it is and how do I make it happen.
It's Chuff Stuff Morpheus Choice, manufactured by Chefs Flavours. Funny enough, couldn't find it on Chefs own website.
I assume it's the type where you only need to put in a desired amount of nicotine and you're good to go, but I'm not sure. Do I need to also add PG/VG like you would with flavour shots?
Could not find much info anywhere, except that it's tasty and people like it, so I am here now.
From some quick research, it seems it may be a post TPD oddity known as a 'short fill". Basically, 0mg juice with enough extra flavor to add 10ml nic base per 50ml of juice. (In reality, it's probably far more flavor -and sweetener - than is needed for a much larger amount). But it could also be a one shot concentrate. It's hard to be sure just from a name.
And frequently free flavors are included in orders. Sometimes you get something completely useless to you, sometimes it's worthwhile.

So true. In my last order from chef's I got a 30ml of jungle flavours honey peach which I would never have tried, and I love it. I also got 30ml of something called stickly caramel cinnabun from a company called wonder flavours. Again not something I would've gone For, and have yet to find a use for it but I'm not complaining

I primarily vape single flavors, one shots or simple mixes. (Fruit + Cream)
As always, that's just a starting point. You'll want to adjust it later. The blueberry is fairly weak, grape soda is really just a additive. You're really just getting a black currant recipe that's a little more complex.
And there is a thread dedicated to this type of question... list all your flavors and get suggestions.
Wafer ideas? So I'm wanting to create a recipe that is based around a wafer type bakery note and texture. The kind of wafer you would find in a kit kat, coffee crisp or regular vanilla wafer cookie. So far I think a combo of inw biscuit and fa cookie are my best bet. But I'm interested to hear some other ideas on how I could achieve this note/texture accurately?
Reading the first of your post, INW Biscuit + FA Cookie popped into my head. Reading the second part, I probably didn't need to answer, but it seems like you're on the right track.
Maybe throw in some CAP Sugar Cookie for body, otherwise I've had luck with a little TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust in the cookies department as well. Have yet to try JF Biscuit, but that might be worth checking out as well based on the feedback I've read here.
Guys, the grey label on pink-mule says max vg with 80% vg. I'm buying my nic there (PG) and wanted to buy base liquid aswell. Is the grey label 80%vg and 20%PG? because thats what i'm looking for. The red one is 70/30..
Max VG for nicotine? That doesn’t make any sense. FYI you won’t achieve that same ratio after you mix.
Hey, I bought some TFA flavourings and im wondering what percentages I should use them at ... I want to make just a plain sweet vanilla, a nice apple pie and a simple vanilla custard...I only want to use flavours that are free of DAAP which is why im more limited in what flavour's I purchase...I currently have French Vanilla II, Vanilla Cupcake DX, Vanilla Swirl, Apple Pie, Sweetener and Bavarian Cream DX - from TFA and Vanilla Custard V2 from Capella. Im a Dessert Vaper so I like vanilla, cakey, sweet, bakery kind of flavours. Im new to mixing and basically want to keep things simple. If I was to vape the Vanilla Flavours solo what percentage would they need to be.
You can search on ELR & ATF to see what the average percentage those flavors are used at and use that as a starting point. Also check out the recipes that they're used in, especially if it fits the profile you're after, to get a better idea. DAAP free flavors will typically be used around the same % as their DAAP filled counterparts, but will require more time to be good.
Hi, I'm new to this, and I dont feel that the "My first order" Flavours post really helped in narrowing down choices. I've already got a scale, and I'm getting bottles, VG/PG, pipettes, and the rest I need to mix by weight. What I am looking for recommendations in is what flavours to chose which are multi use. The main issue I have is there's certain flavours which I don't like (strawberries, liquorice/anise, menthol, coffee, or blackcurrant), and a lot of simple recipes seem to use one or more of those flavours.
So, does anyone happen to know about 5-10 flavours that would be able to make 3-5 different recipes?, If so, which ones?, Can't seem to find simple recipes on e-Liquid Recipes or All The Flavours.

. . . you can actually find recipes with a specific amount of flavors. To find recipes you can make that has exactly 3 flavors you can add the parameter "fcount" to the URL: http://e-liquid-recipes.com/whatcanimake?fcount=3. It also works with the normal search. Here I search for "coffee", and have added "fcount" to the URL: http://e-liquid-recipes.com/list?q=coffee&fcount=3.
To add to this, if you input what flavours you have on ATF, you can search by +1, +2 and +3 which will show recipes that you will only need to buy 1, 2 or 3 more concentrates to make, respectively. I've found it very useful when needing to meet a minimum to qualify for free shipping etc.
Another tip: If you use chefsflavours.co.uk there is pretty much always a 10% off code, which if you are going to spend £30 for fre shipping, is an extra concentrate in your basket for free :)

The first order flavors are exactly what you're looking for. They are multitools that you can amd will use in many recipes. I could give you a rundown of all of them, but trust me that you will still be ordering most of the first order flavors years into this hobby, I know I still am.
The fact is, based on the fact he - like me - can't stand strawberry, a huge number of recipes that those 'first order' flavors are based on are useless to him.
Now, not knowing preferences exactly, I will say that a good lemonade base is probably the most versatile thing for someone who likes fruit flavors... just about any fruit can be added to a lemonade. Those that don't go well with lemonade are more likely to work with coconut or banana (and thus with chocolate, like Double Chocolate Clear or the HS Chocolate). And FA Fuji goes well with most fruits, as well.
A friend at work has a smok prince tank and wanted me to mix her up some fruity juice, I haven't vaped a sub ohm tank in years and years, and mostly vape dessert centric recipes. So I'm just looking for some tips on how to make a fruity recipe really work well in a smok style tank, as well as the best VG/PG ratio to use so it won't leak, or dry hit. Help is much appreciated as always!
Smok tanks kill flavor for some reason. Best bet, mix up something flavorful for you, then increase the flavors by about 20% across the board. (As in 1% becomes 1.2%, not 21%. Otherwise 5+ flavor recipes would be mathematically impossible.) They can handle max VG juice tho...
Something really bright at around 70vg/30pg (as Edible already mentioned) should work well, but those smok tanks are not really flavorful.

Yo, DIY e-juicers! Is there a thread or area where newer users can post the individual flavours they have and ask for suggestions?
Not just suggestions on what known recipes I could mix, but more in terms of "If this is what you're trying to end up with, use more X than Y" or "Be sure to add a couple drops of X to smooth things out"...that kind of stuff!
Notably trying to make a blue razz cotton candy and have both blue raspberry flavour and cotton candy...what kind of ratio should I aim for? Is there another flavour I'd want to add a small quantity of?
Another mix I'm going to try is Starburst Cotton candy, and grape cotton candy (which we've bought as a commercial e-juice), stuff like that. The GF really like the fruitier/candy stuff. I like most things except caramel/mocha/chocolate stuff.

Now... cotton candy is a tricky thing to work with because too much can mute flavors. However... for a good purple flavored cotton candy, it's pretty simple:
3% INW Grapes
4% TFA Cotton Candy
A bunch of people swear that blue raspberry flavor is mostly CAP Juicy Peach. And there is a blue raz cotton candy flavor concentrate out there, as well.
Also, some flavors are quite sweet on their own... INW Elderflower is sweet and goes well with a number of fruits... mostly berries, apple, lime... that sort of thing. FA Black Currant is another really sweet fruit. TFA Honeysuckle, like the Elderflower, also sweetens fruit mixes nicely. INW Cactus at low amounts gives a wetter feel, so if you're aiming for more syrupy I'd leave it out, but if you're trying to make a punch flavor, try ~.2% of it. See, it's easier to make suggestions of what should work that are useful to you if you list what you have... or if you're interested in picking up new flavors soon.
Also: ratios of flavors depend on the flavor concentrates used. I strongly suggest that if you want to make cotton candy flavors, you find flavors that you know (or can find) the levels of EM in, as you want to keep the total EM in the mix below ~.5% of the total.

Ok. I suggest researching a little. FW flavors can include nasty shit to vape sometimes. Dunno for sure what their cotton candy is. TFA Cotton Candy is straight 10% EM(ethyl maltol) in PG. Most cotton candy is similar, some add other flavor volatiles. INW Cactus is mostly treaded as a additive, as I mentioned. If you want aloe taste, use it at around 1%. INW Grapes is a great purple flavor. I use it a lot. Don't really use your other flavors much...

I'm pretty sure there's a recipe using Strawberry, Strawberry Ripe, Dragonfruit, and Bavarian Cream. Of course, considering I hate strawberries, hate Bavarian cream, and don't like mixing fruits and creams (all IRL) I don't know that it's a good recipe. But considering you bought those flavors, I'm guessin you'd like it. Go to ATF (link is in sidebar), create a free account, enter your flavors, and then search for recipes. Pretty sure you'll find one or fifty like I described.
Oh, and if that custard is VCV2... throw it out and get VCV1. Unless you like the taste/smell of puke a lot, considering vanilla is already kinda puke flavor.

Hello DIY'ers, I consider myself a new mixer, I have mixed for about 1-2 months now but the problem im having is that I can't find a juice that I really like. I have bought some flavours so I have a couple of different flavours, I bought flavours on the recipes that I wanted to try out. I have mixed about 15 different recipes or with different percentage of flavours and I just can't find it. I have mixed recipes with high ratings from ELR and I have found one that is slightly good. I can vape it but it's not that good. And I feel disappointed with everything that has with mixing to do. I would love to mix my own juice and get it good but right now im not sure that will work. Right now I mix by weight and im precise with the percentage and the grams(0.01 scale) that are going in to the bottle. I have bought the bases from places where other diy have bought them from in my country so im don't think that the bases are the problem. I just wanted to check in with all of you that hang around here and see if this is normal or if im doing something wrong or have any idéas on how to continue. Right now I feel like the DIY mixing part of my vaping should be put on the shelf and never to be taken down. (Sorry about the language, english is not native language.) Please help! :( I can open up a thread this is to long to read here or to get better answers. Thanks and much love <3
Have you done single flavor tests on each of the concentrates you have? If not, look up the flavor reviews to get a feel for them and what percentages to try (link is in sidebar) and then test them yourself too. You may find that you like some of them as a standalone, or discover that you dislike and even hate some individual flavors.
For instance, CAP Sugar Cookie completely ruins the taste of any juice for me, even at 1% -- so I know substituting a combo of INW Biscuit and Graham Cracker Clear will possibly work better for me. Mixing can take a fair amount of time and patience unless you're one of the lucky ones who finds a recipe you love right away.
I haven't done any single testing myself, I have only looked up flavour notes and other peoples tought about the flavours I bought. I only had 50+ ml bottles and it felt like a waste of a bottle to mix in 10ml test and let it occupy the bottle for the steep time of that flavour, but now that you also recommend single flavour I think it's about time to do it. Ok then it might be one of those heavy bakery flavours I picked up, I normally vape fruits but I found one custard juice that I loved so I tought that custard vapes was something for me but when I started mixing myself I only found one kind of custard vape that was just ok. Do you have any tips on how the handle the bottle situation I have? Thanks for the answer and help <3
Buy some smaller bottles. Not sure what country you're in or how long orders take from China to arrive there, but but fasttech has them cheap. I vape 6mg nic, so I make up a large bottle of that and made a cheat sheet for easy mixing of 1% thru 10%. The small amount of flavor still makes it between 5 & 6mg. I'll try to shoot a pic of my cheat sheet later tonight for ya.
ELR recipes, especially old ones, usually suck with modern gear. Try reducing flavor percentages to about 40% of the recipe levels, and see if that helps.
Also, try posting in the 'what can I make' thread. You'll probably get better suggestions than rando ELR recipes.
Also check ATF. Put in your flavors and use the 'what can I make' search.
Hey guys, so I'm currently at a point in my mix life where all I have to mix is fruity this and fruit that. To be honest I'm a hardcore bakery fan, but haven't actually been making bakery vapes. I came to this realization after thinking my juice trade is getting meh and needed to change it up somehow. I love mixing juice and sure as hell don't want to go back to premium. So my question is then, what are your best bakery vapes friends?
Adams Blueberry Muffin is definitely my current favorite bakery. For the blueberry, I drop FW Blueberry to 3% and add in 1% FA Bilberry for a nice little zing.
Here I searched the tag "bakery" on ATF and sorted by "most mixed", however you can play with the sort criteria, or just scroll through all of them for inspiration.
Hey guys does anyone know if there are any Canadian vendors selling any decent one shots. I’ve been trying to find the one shots from ejuice makers team from wizard labs or ecig express but haven’t had any luck.
Well, no comment on the 'decent' part, but thebrokevaper carries a line of one shots.
Some of the vendors active on reddit might be convinced to sell some too. I'd start with contacting /u/DeterminedToOffend (from ccvapes) and /u/evaperated (from, oddly enough, evaperated)... mostly because they have the best flavor catalogs. (As in, both of them make more than two juices that I don't hate.)
Ok thanks for the info. Do you have any experience or know if the one shots from the broke Vapor are good. They seem to have good reviews.
Check out the one shots over at Chefs. They have a bunch of stuff from EJM and a bunch more about to be released. And just a ton of one shots in general... it's actually kinda crazy how many they have.
Hey I just got a 10ml freebie of TFA graham cracker (dark) and I’m not sure what to do with it! Do I use it like the clear version? Or is it too much of a coil gunker?

Maybe some explanation: It is listed to contain corn syrup, which is considered very unhealthy (and a coil gunker). TPA has a list of the ingredients in their flavours that will tell you things like this in the future.
I have some because it’s what wizards sent me w one of my first orders and I didn’t know better and it’s fine! I’m about 3/4 through it and it’s not been an issue. It was from MFS I’m sorry, and it’s 15ml... if you’re new and it’s not much more than 10-15ml I’d say keep it I don’t think a mil here or there w kill u and chances are the recipes you make might not work anyway.. I hope they do, did that sound bad 😩😂.. just saying mine are just now starting to come together ok and I’m over a year in... hope that helps.. I’ve bought almost 500 concentrates and I don’t even mess w tobaccos so I know they get expensive and unless you can afford another order and be without graham cracker ( a pretty impt ingredient sometimes) for a bit then don’t over think the bullshit K.I.S.S.... feel me? We smoked cigarettes w so many god awful chemicals that the majority of us w probably never even know all of them and the harm they did...it cracks me up now ppl get concerned about hype that Big Tobacco spits out to make ejuice look bad.. I think I’ve said enough I’m sure you get the point.. welcome and just enjoy it and have fun w it.. so many worse things in life to worry about 😩😂...
Has anyone tried CAP Lemon Meringue Pie V1 AND V2 and noticed any difference? I'm leaning towards V2 since it's Diketone free. Any input would be much appreciated.

That's certainly true about convenience. It's not a bad price and you get a good bottle to dispense your base out of. Win win.
But I prefer more control than a premixed base offers. There are definitely some downsides to consider like diluting your target nicotine content and, depending on the recipe, your final VG/PG ratio. Cost is probably the least of your concern; I just checked and it would be about $2.50 for me to mix up 500ml @ 3mg but I get 5gal at a time so YMMV
Also- isn’t there a website where I can punch in what flavors I have and it will bring up all the recipes I can make?
Does anyone know of a concentrate that is close or similar to Purilum Country Apple? Or anywhere with reasonable shipping for a very small order that carries Purilum? I have FA Fuji and CAP Double Apple, hoping for something closer in flavor than those.
Edit: Just realized I'm a total doofus. Since I order nicotine from Nic River, I have only seen UPS as the shipping option. So I thought a small order from them would be costly due to shipping. But if it's just concentrates (and none of them are considered HazMat), the more inexpensive USPS First Class Package is an option.
Actually, some flavor concentrates are considered hazmat in large quantities. Primarily because of alcohol content. (Airlines worry about flammable products in their holds, now. Mainly because of crashes caused by fires started in the luggage/cargo holds.)
So I started diy about a week and a half ago so that I could save some money and make interesting flavors for myself and my friends.
I made a 60ml 70/30 VG/PG batch of Green Apple as my first diy juice on the 2nd of March, and it's been almost a week and it seems that the juice is still very perfume-y and not very good on the flavor. Was the general projection for 2-3 days of steeping not right in my case, or is there something I did wrong?
I did attempt some speed steeping with water baths right after I mixed it, but then decided to let it sit since afterward and even the next day there was no improvement to the juice. So far it's been bathed for about an hour's worth of time, and steeped on its own for nearly six days.
Edit: In comparison, earlier this week on Wednesday, I got flavorings for a chocolate marshmallow juice I wanted to make. After mixing and doing the same water bathing technique for speed steeping, it tastes perfect. It's virtually the same recipe excluding the flavors, but even then, these flavors fit more into a bakery-style category, which means it should've taken much longer to steep, not less.
It sounds like a classic case of over-flavoring. Which brand green apple, and at what % was it mixed?
A concentrate from Central Vapors, and I mixed it at 5%.

Although I’m not familiar with that brand, Green Apple flavors are notoriously harsh, and not really all that great. It’s wise to stick to flavors that are talked about from known brands. Or ones that at least have reviews.
Also, skip the hot water baths.
alrighty, just made my first bottle, like 10 minutes ago, i know i have to steep it and such, but im concerned. its a menthol pineapple watermelon 6mg, and i can promise i did all the measurements right, but when i mixed all the liquids together, it turned out to be an opaque milky white. is this normal?

Chefs shipping isn't bad at all. I think it's about $6.50 to the US so it's likely to be comparable to Canada. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

The diy outlet tied to theravape (can't remember the name, but it's accessible from theravape site) does some one shots, IIRC. And I think diyejuice out of bc does as well (if you don't mind ordering from them). Can't recall if fusionflavors does. Almost certain bestglycol hasn't gotten into the one shots yet. (You know, with the number of diy suppliers in canada, you'd think there'd be a lot more mixers locally...)
About ordering from chef's - $10 gets shipping with no tracking. $20 gets tracking. My last order from chef's, tho, the bastards at cbsa dinged me a extra forty bucks for. It'd be nice if they didn't put prices on the packing invoice...
I made a batch of liquid last week and it tasted great but yesterday it started to have a burnt taste so naturally i changed the coil. Primed it let it settle for a while but the burnt taste persisted even after the next new coil. I also threw away the liquid first (then used liquid from the same batch I made) and cleaned the tank with hot water. Eventually I changed the coil again and used liguid from another batch and now everything was fine again. This makes me wonder...what happened to that batch that made it taste funky all of a sudden?

A 0.5 Ohm kanthal coin from eleaf for the melo III mini. Just a simple recipe of strawberry ripe TPA kiwi double TPA sweet watermelon (I think cap) and some sweetner TPA (0.5%)
I used 4 new coils and changed the eliquid with the 5th coil then everything was ok again
Hey y’all, Reddit’s search bar didn’t answer my question- ordering from bull city flavors and almost every flavor has an option for a twist too cap for an extra 50 cents or so. Do bottles come stock with spouts or are they top caps more like a bottle of soda? I’m putting in a rather large order and just don’t want to waste unnecessary money.

I'm thinking ahout trying to make some juice (50/50 vg/pg) to give to my friend with an eleaf iCare 2. I have 48 mg/ml pg based nic, and hes not looking for too high a percentage of nic. I also dont own a pod system to test juices out. My two questions:
- will going anywhere from 10-15mg be too harsh? Despite him trying to quit cigs he hasnt been using the icare because the current juice he bought is too harsh
2)what are some simple, 1 flavor profile recipies I could go for? I figure something with fruits and or something cooling would work, and I would experiment myself but as I said I dont have a pod system.
I did try searching this sub for recipes but only found a couple recipes commented by hashslingingslashur that I dont quite have the concentrates for. Lemme know if itd help posting all the flavors I have
I've settled on 12 mg in my iCare (I do less than 3 mg DTL). I was okay with 25 mg too, it wasn't really harsh, but I could sometimes get a sore throat. Do note that the quality of the nic plays a big part in harshness. Nicotine salts is an option.
I've found that you can pick pretty much any single flavor that is actually tasty and just bump it up. 4% FA Forest Fruit or 4% TFA Blackberry for example. Sounds insane, but it's actually quite satisfying. Nothing like a good recipe in a DTL device, but the iCare wasn't made for flavor.
As for cooling, that's a personal preference. You could try a small amount for starters.

100mg nic in a PG base is best. Or you could get a low concentration of VG nic base, at like double your preferred nic level for vaping, so it's half of each mix. But 100mg is much more cost effective, and 100mg VG nic base is not good to work with.

How do I deal with Ethyl Alcohol while mixing?
Recently got a decent order from TFA and a few flavors contain Ethyl Alcohol and it straight up smells like flavored rubbing alcohol.
Never had flavors contain it and online people say they vape like straight alcohol? Hoping someone can shed some light
Step 1: mix as usual.
Step 2: steep normally.
Step 3: open bottle
Step 4: apply juice to coil as usual.
(During steeping, the tiny bit of alcohol will evaporate into the headroom in the bottle, since the bottle isn't pressurized and the overall amount of alcohol is less than 1% of the mix. It will escape from the bottle the first time you open it. You just need to steep it a bit longer than a similar flavor that doesn't have alcohol in it.

I appreciate the reply - the smell was just extremely off putting. It’s crazy to think it’s <1% of the mix.
Let's do some math: flavors with a LOT of alcohol are maybe 10% alcohol. If you use 10% of that flavor... .1×.1=.01 and since 10% of any flavor is so uncommonly high, that 1% is a maximum.

I have two bottles of TFA pineapple which are from different vendors and are quite different in smell/taste. One (30ml) is very sweet and real pineapple smelling, the other (250ml) smells like straight up donkey balls. It has a very strong chemical taste and flavor. Is there any way at all to get that 250ml of sewage to a point where it can be used? Are there any tricks vendors use to dilute their juices maybe? I tried mixing it half and half with PG but to no avail, it still has that lingering chemical scent.
TFA Pineapple is harsh and chemically in general. It’s best used at a low percentage in conjunction with a better pineapple. It has its use, just not as a solo pineapple flavor.
The funny thing is, I purchased some from BestGlycol when I first started DIY, and it was AMAZING. The best Pineapple of any vendor Ive ever bought from. Im racking my brain trying to figure out how to turn that chemical stuff into that sweet and real version that I got from BestGlycol. Any ideas?
BestGlycol has their own flavor line, in addition to TFA. It's possible that your first order, you got the house flavor instead of TFA. (They also carry FW and CAP, although I believe they've added those more recently, so depending on when you ordered from them...)
Sweet and real doesn't describe TFA Pineapple, IME. It's possible that first order was a mix up and the second one was actually TFA Pineapple. I'd suggest giving INW Pineapple and/or CAP Golden Pineapple a whirl.
TFA Pineapple Review You're not the only one who likes it (at least your first experience) but if you look through the comments you'll see a common theme of less than stellar experiences.

For the MTL peeps: what do you usually test your mixes with? I’ve had a Wasp Nano, Narda clone and another one that was really similar that I forgot the name of. Could never get a good MTL vape from it. I do all my tests on a Mutation X, but I primarily use dual coil RTAs for work and driving, so the experience is the same. I’ve had the Berserker RTA for a while, but haven’t been super satisfied with very many recipes in it (I think a large part of that is just that I don’t think MTL is really my style.)
I ask mostly because I saw the Berserker RDA is coming out and I’m probably going to pick that up so I can fine tune recipes for a more enjoyable MTL vape, but was just curious what everyone else was doing.
Along with the berserker, you may want to have a gander at the vapefly galexies as well that just came out recently :)
I have a Derringer clone that can be used as single or dual. Hardly holds any juice so it's a pain in the ass for actual vaping. I use it for both single flavor tests and the initial test of a mix. If the mix deserves more time it goes in the O-Atty clone or maybe the Hadaly to drip for a day or two.
From there it hits the Digiflavor Siren RTA. I have the original 25mm V1 but I'm tempted to get the V2. Or, when I'm wanting something with more airflow, Obs Engine Nano RTA or the Wasp (I squonk with that one).
If I like a recipe a lot but it seems a bit strong in flavor, I'll try it in 12mg for the iCare and Rofvape peas, or 6mg for the Supertank Mini. Those go in my purse and/or pocket when I'm out and about. Sometimes I carry the Obs on a 25mm Pico because it never leaks but it's kinda bulky for my pocket, and I don't want big clouds in my vehicle or in public.
Hey waddup?! Fairly new sub-ohm vaper here that has decided to go with some custom made e juices with “Max VG”. I decided to go with Essential Depots VG and Vapers Tek “Throat Hit” 100% nic.
Should I order some PG too? Is it that much harder to mix without it? (I plan to use the TFA, FA, CAP flavors, etc).
I planned on getting 10ml/100ml bottles for easy math calculations however maybe I should get some bigger ones for easy shaking and in case I need to add more content of something. Is there any room for adding more drops of flavor in a “full” 5/10/100ml mix bottle if tweaks needed to be done? Is 10ml too much waste if mix goes bad? Maybe go with 5ml tests only and 120ml bottles since I’ll be using the e juice calculator anyways ?
I don’t want to forget ordering anything crucial I will need in my basic mixing recipes. So if anyone wants to point on some important stuff I didn’t mention I would appreciate it. I don’t plan on mixing too many flavors to start off, as I heard that’s where stuff gets more difficult to achieve flavor accuracy. I was going to get something like the TFA/TPA ripe strawberry and the regular strawberry that pairs well with it very popular among many recipes supposedly. I still don’t know what other flavors besides the strawberries I should get. I’m a candy/berry/cereal/chocolate/milk kind of guy. I also really wanted to try something like cotton candy and lemonade’ish maybe even grape. Please recommend me some of the more popular flavors to order. Thank you
10/100 mL is a fine start, however I find 30 mL a staple size when trying new recipes. Yes, you will be able to add a gram or 2 worth of ingredients after the capacity is reached, most bottles tend to have a little head space.
I would check our this post in its entirety before diving too deep, and you're going to want to mix something tried and true before winging it on your own. ATF and ELR are going to be your best resources for info or inspiration.
If you're using a calculator, don't worry so much about bottle sizes, other than knowing which size you are using when you mix.
You definitely need bottles, a scale, VG, flavor concentrates, and nic (assuming you're not mixing 0mg), you want PG base nic, since it's easier to work with. You don't actually need PG, since usually between nic and flavor you'll have 10% or more PG anyway.
If you want lemonade, my most mixed lemonade is:
5% LA Lemonade
1% FA Lemon Sicily
3% INW Grapes
1.5% FA Polar Blast
1.5% WS-23 (note the last two are really dependant on how sensitive to cooling agents you are)

Pretty much. I know there's odd exceptions (a number of old tobacco flavorings were meant for very high PG mixes. You can always substitute PDO or PEG400 for PG, in those cases. You still won't get the same clouds with low VG mixes, but occasionally you have to choose what's more important. If your answer is:
^Clouds, brah. Clouds" don't worry too much about flavor and get a Smok tank and vape the highest VG mix you can. Or its reasonable to just not bother with flavors like that, and try to find flavors that work well with max VG.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a starting apple flavour? I have FA Fuji, TPA Apple, CAP Double Apple and CAP Green Apple. Green Apple is quite far from the kind of apple taste I want.
I was experimenting last night, tried each flavour individually at the ELR recommended solo mix %. From there I made the following:
CAP Double Apple 6% FA Fuji 4%
It was quite nice... bit of a throat hit but that's what I wanted. However, after adding nic to 3mg the throat hit is far too much. Then I had to sleep and come to work...

Try 1.5% FA Fuji with 0.5% CAP Double Apple. You can try bumping it to 3:1, but FA Fuji tastes weird to me if I go too high with it, and I think your 4% would start to become floral. I've never used double apple half that high, so i can't say if 6 would be a good percentage.
Thanks, I will give that a crack too. I only got the flavour a couple of days ago but I can say that at 10% it's really good, just not quite complete. Hence I was keen to keep the percentage higher. I based this on information from DIY or die, not just a wild guess.

Hmm, what percentage are you using it at? For me at 3.5% I found it quite unsatisfying. Sure it tastes like apple but not like AN apple.
I've read a lot about steeping, and there seems to be a lack of consensus. One person says they use the hot water bath and shaking method and it works great. Some say you have to have the cap off, others say you shouldn't except for shedding specific offensive volatiles.

Those methods can work depending on the variables. The problem with heating, uncapping, whisking, and whatever other random methods of accelerated steeping people can conjure up, is that your results will vary a lot from recipe to recipe. Those methods can cause a lot more problems than they solve, even if they are useful in specific cases.
The simplest solution is to do the one thing that works across nearly all recipes; shake it up, put it away somewhere cool and dark and leave it alone until it's ready. No need to overcomplicate what a little patience can accomplish.

Really depends on what you want to do with it. We really don’t recommend newbies start off with adding sweetener right away.
Help! I just went to nicotine river to re order the blended nicotine. I typically buy a liter or more of 70/30 or 50/50 12 mg. However they are sold out and I need a new vendor ASAP!
