> This has been and probably always will be one of the most frequently asked question anywhere DIY is talked about. I’ve seen it on every DIY forum, chat room, FB group, etc and because of its frequency it’s one the first questions to get the ire of a community or be outright banned as a topic of discussion. Clones are often a starting point for a lot of new DIY’ers. They look at DIY as a way to save money by mixing up their ADV themselves, at a fraction of the cost. And because they’re new to DIY and new to the forum, they don’t realize how many times the same request has been made before they got there.
Monthly Clone Request Thread
How you ask is more important than what you’re asking for. The key isn’t always to try and find someone who has actually tried the juice but instead describing what you’re tasting well enough that people can help you find the flavors that are worth trying. Ultimately it will fall on your palate to decide, recipes and advice posted in the thread can help you narrow your search and speed up the development process.
The more information you share, the more you’ll get back in return.

Monthly Clone Challenge
An honorable endeavour by /u/ID10-T because, as he said…
“Clone requests don’t get much response because DIYers don’t vape that much commercial juice. The clone challenge was in part a way to give clone requesters a better shot at getting what they want, in a fun community oriented way. I felt bad for people posting in the right thread month after month after month the same clone requests and getting no response. But not bad enough to buy the juice they want cloned and try to clone it.”

Picking your flavors
- Take notes; Even if you think your palate isn’t up to par or finding the words to describe what you’re tasting doesn’t come naturally, taking notes will give you a way break down your subjective experience. Figure out what the most prominent flavor is and then search for the accents. At the very least you’ll have a reference as you search recipes and/or post a request.
- The Flavor Review Wiki is a great resource for looking up reviews of flavors you’ve identified in the juice you want to clone. It gives you a starting point and ideas on what to add to your cart or wishlist.
- Depending on how popular the juice that you’re trying to clone is, you’ll likely find an attempt with a quick search on ELR or ATF. Sort by rating and then look through all the recipes to find similarities.
- Rich from Gremlin Juice/DIY explains How cost/availability factors in to commercial juice. Most companies will stick with flavors that are easy to stock and inexpensive in bulk.
You can also take a peek behind the veil and look over the commercial recipes posted on the sub to get an idea of what they’re using.

What's your favorite clone recipe or elusive white whale?
I never got a chance to try Boba’s Bounty, but I’ve read a bunch of threads about it just because... really, just because. I wish I had tried it when it was around because I’d like to try to figure it out.
The Duke from Indigo was my DIY goal when I started. I did a bunch of not even close tries, and then found the elusive base flavor that makes it so special, and then it fell right in to place. The recipe I released for that was .5% different for one flavor from my first version.
Tripoli was (is? We’ll see...) a different story. I did more versions of that than probably anything I’ve ever done. It’s not even necessarily my preferred kind of juice. It’s just got some really mysterious things going on in there that I really wanted to try to do. I got pretty close I think. Still different enough to probably warrant another try at some point, but it was taking over my mixing life so I had to just accept where I was with it and part ways.
Pssst, (Boba's Bounty just got released again, and I was after a clone of this, but I can confirm, whatever they should the first time around to get the golden glory, the new formula is the EXACT same. I bought a 100ml of it of the older stuff about 2 years ago and haven't used it out of "I don't want to waste it, it should be a special occasion), and had 10 people test it side by side with the new stuff. 9.5/10 said it was the same thing.

(This is NOT the reflavored "Flavor 39", and Gorilla juice has also been re-released as well)
Well son of a bitch. Looks like I might have to buy some. I fell for that nasty trick that fake Alien site pulled a while back. Gonna look in to it now. Thanks for the heads up!
I did try Boba's once but even before DIY I had flavor ADD and never spent enough time with any juice to call it an ADV. It was always too hard to get anyway, so even if it had been my favorite, I probably would have moved on to the next hyped juice. There are a few juices from back then that I'd love to clone but I'd have to rely on old reviews because my memory of them has faded almost completely, other than the memory of them being awesome.
What's the recipe you landed on for Tripoli? I've never tried it but I'd love to check out what you came up with anyway.
I haven’t really tried very many popular juices. I had Indigo, but mostly used a shitty house juice for a couple months and then started diy and had a lot of shitty basement juice from then on.

I dunno about the shrub or etc, sounds like a hype thing in a specific community. I'll probably see it flood other channels if the fires can burn high enough, now a days, I just usually try to mix clone requests for other folks, it helps me get acquainted to other flavors, or commercial juices. a lot of flavors I never would have tried otherwise where through clone requests,

I would be eternally grateful if someone has a clone of Nectar by Merkury.
I'd like to see a decent clone of Head Bangin' Boogie by Charlie's Chalk Dust. It's described as popsicle blueberry tropical. I've tried several combinations of blueberry, sweet pineapple and koolada but can't quite get it right myself so end up paying through the nose for the real deal.
I'd like to see what some of your attempts are (the recipes) and get a better idea of what specifically tasted different to you.
Either you ask in the hopes that someone just "knows" or you have to dive a little deeper and find someone (or multiple people) who can help you identify the flavors you're after based on their experience lining up with your descriptions.
My closest so far is FW Blueberry 7%, CAP Golden Pineapple 3.5%, Koolada 0.5%. It seems to be missing some part of the tropical side of the description and maybe a jammy sweetness from the blueberry (I tried CAP Blueberry jam but it smelled and tasted like poo). There's also a clue on the packaging about combining sweet and savoury flavours so I'm wondering if there's a savoury element I'm missing that is bringing it all together but I'm not detecting. It may be coincidental but the flavour goes extremely well with a cappuccino drink. Each enhances the other when alternated in ways my clone, while quite nice in itself, doesn't.
I've seen some clone recipes using a citrus like CAP Lemon Lime or TFA Fruit Circles to jazz it up. I've also seen small amounts of TFA Sweet Raspberry to compliment the blueberry.
Never had the original, but these ingredients seems to be what other clone attempts contain.
Not sure what could be savory, Apexified mentioned vanilla which could very well be, but maybe something like butter/butter cream could also be a possibility.
Those descriptions are so much more intriguing they have me wanting to search through my mind and inventory to help you figure it out. And now that I know what you've tried I won't waste both our time offering up redundant suggestions.
The first thing that comes to mind on the savoury note is vanilla. Have you tried that? I can see it blending in a way that's not obvious. I'd try something simple like Vanillin or FA Vanilla Classic @ .25 or .5%
Also if you have TFA Jackfruit that might fit the tropical side well based on some of the descriptions I've just read. It should pair nicely with the pineapple and impart some more exotic notes.
One day someone will have a clone for Ripe Vapes Vanilla Custard Tobacco, and on that day I'll finally be able to stop throwing money at them.
What's stopping you from making one?
I've tried for a really long time (almost a year) and got frustrated so I moved on to other recipes I've been working on.
Damn, I was going to maybe buy a 30 ml to see if I could help you out, but $17 is a bit steep, and I already ordered some Boba’s Bounty last night. So my limit of $20 a year on commercial juice is all gone. Have you tried any of the FE/SC tobaccos in your attempts? FE Captain, Blended, and Cigar would be my first 3 picks for a vanilla custard tobacco.
They actually have a sale going on right now. 100ml's for $19.99 shipped. I'll be ordering some when I get paid next week, I'd be happy to mail 30ml your way.
Tobacco's I tried: TFA Turkish, FA 7Leaves, FLV Native and FLV cured.
The tobacco in the juice is fairly light, but definitely noticable in VCT. Idk there is just something about it that keeps bringing me back to it.
You don’t have to send a whole 30, but if you wanted to send a 10 ml I could try to help you out. 10 ml should be enough for me to be able to know if it’s something familiar or not. Shoot me a PM when you’ve got it and I’ll get you the address and I can shoot you a few dollars for shipping if you want.
Stix - strawberry wafer : Really juicy strawberry with a light cookie/wafer background
I have tried to re-create this many of times and I don't even come close. dirtyprojector had tried to help me with this but it came out more like a pokey stick vs a wafer cookie.
I have tried FA cookie, FW Wafflecone to try and get that wafer taste down but no such luck. maybe someone can push me in the right direction. his recipe is kind of where I started at since it was the closest that I could find.
Podgy | % ------|- FA Red Touch | 1.5 TFA Strawberry Ripe | 4 FW Graham Cracker Clear | 1.5 CAP Sugar Cookie | 4 INW Biscuit | 1 FA Meringue | 1 CAP Vanilla Cupcake | 1.5
> light cookie/wafer background
My first impression would be that the 4 ingredients dedicated to the cookie/wafer might not be light enough. I often find myself adding more flavors when chasing a profile before realizing that I need to reset/remove the aspects that aren't working. If I were you I'd reset your cookie/wafer base to a combination of FA Cookie/INW Biscuit and build from there... but perhaps you've already tried that ¯\(ツ)/¯
yeah, i've worked with both of those a bit. honestly I should just strip it down, for some reason I feel biscuit is probably not in the mix at all. i'll probably drop cupcake and graham cracker too. The wafer taste almost exact to these
I have retrieved these for you _ _

The Traveler by Coastal Clouds.
They describe it as "Refreshing Italian ice bursting with sweet blood orange, tropical mango and tart lemon."
For me this has a nice tart juicy flavor. Lemon is fairly strong with orange backing up that citrus note. The mango is present but doesn't take over at all. What I really like about it is a bitterness that I'm thinking comes from the "Italian ice" part, but I haven't been able to find a good flavor suggestion for it. I've gotten the same notes in another premium juicd thats a Raspberry Italian cream soda, IIRC it was called Juxtapoz.
The flavor wiki is a great place to learn about flavors-it's a gift to us all. One other wonderful thing about it is the comments left by other mixers with their experience with that flavor. Make sure to read through the comments so you don't miss out on what people think of the flavor, stuff they like to mix with it, how long they steep, and sometimes recipes.
