Official response from VGOD and DIY e-juice
submitted over 7 years ago by daathMixologist

I noticed the thread here, yesterday about the mail I got from a company called Yellow Brand Protection about clones of VGOD juices.

I received an official response from them, and it sounds like Yellow Brand Protection went a little too far.

Read the whole response here:

http://forum.e-liquid-recipes.com/t/good-news-official-response-from-vgod/186663

A lot of people got pretty upset, yesterday - hopefully this will set their minds at ease :)

Happy vaping!

Lars

Aww. Well, I'm sure we can use these torches and pitchforks somewhere else. Glad they were prepared to behave reasonably.

Here's the thing--and call me a cynic--why would you not clarify to a company that you've hired what it is that you want?

Why would you wait until after consumer backlash hits you so hard because--again, let's be clear--the company you hired to take action on your behalf went way, way overboard... presumably on your instructions?

Why, knowing that consumers are beyond fed up with this kind of heavy-handedness in other, similar cases, would you release the hounds, and then, when understandable, swift backlash occurs, say "oh, we meant to release them with their leashes on?"

It just seems to me that this is "ok, we tried. People noticed. Guess we try again when they let their guard down."

but yeah. I'm probably way too cynical and overthinking this one.

Just a reminder: - you can't register recipes.

They weren't trying to - It was about the "VGOD" trademark :)

Loophole: all vgod clone recipes now renamed to DOUCHEGOD

Disliked vgod before this, really disliked them for seemingly coming after ELR, and now back to just disliking them. Still think they use their hybebeast vapebro image to sell overpriced, crappy Chinese made gear to people who don't know any better. Have never seen a vgod product worth the price they are asking, esp in comparison to products in the same price range. Oh well though, if people wanna overpay for lower quality designs and products, so be it.

there is not a mech mod/RDA on earth that is worth $200+ dollars.

But if people keep paying that much, they'll continue charging it.

You say that, until the Smok Fellatio 200w drops next month.

And immediately afterwards, they'll release it in kit form with the TFV69 Fresh Prince of Shenzhen sub-ohm tank using their new Triple Octuple Square Root of Kanthal coils for best flavor of king.

200 is just about my cutoff point for high end mechs. Top grade copper and brass, much higher cnc tolerances, beautiful design, and supporting an all American business is worth it to me.

Things are worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm willing to pay for high quality machining and innovative and/or well-designed products, but my most expensive mech is a $150 Admiral I got second-hand in a trade for significantly less.

I also won't personally pay exorbitant amounts, but worth is all relative. The companies are selling plenty of units at prices that may seem outrageous to you and me but since people are willing to pay that, it's inherently "worth" that amount.

I disagree.

In my opinion its one thing to pay $200 for an American machined product made from the highest quality metals and crafted with extreme care and precision (like a Kennedy tube or soemtbing). It's a total other thing to pay $200 for a Chinese made tube that had a hypebeast name slapped on it. I bet those vgod tubes cost about $10 a peice to make. I really feel bad for how horribly their customers are getting ripped off, if only they knew what other products and quality they could get for the same price or cheaper.

they have American companies that sell mods for $150-300 that aren't worth the metal they are made of or the toilet paper roll they are shipped in.

Hype train is ridden with faulty rails.

Do they pay american CNC machines more than Chinese CNC machines? If you think these mods are made by hand and not by robots you're kidding yourself.

Yes, i quite agree on that. Apple is the most infamous one.

I purchased one of their Pro Mechs. Got it for $45 on sale at a B&M. It hits just as hard as my other copper tubes. It does have an odd spring in it that likes to get crunchy at times, but I just replaced it with my own flat wire spring and now it's perfect.

The vent holes all down the side is a pretty smart move on their part, as well.

I actually commented that this was likely the case in the big ol thread in ECR. I said they prob were doing a Google search for VGOD CLONE and just went after anything that popped up.

It's would have be a nice gesture to actually say sorry.

I wouldn't know - I would, if it was truly their fault ;P

Could be miscommunication. I guess a solution is better than pointing blame.

Either that, or they're being paid enough to fall on their sword... I'm guessing V[fictional_being] started getting enough hatemail that they backed off and decided to offer up someone else as the 'villain' responsible.

by Tiptup300over 7 years ago

I dunno, these sorts of hired companies do this shit all the time without notifying the main company.

Or part of their standard contract is to take the heat for any fallout...

I think he took it back when he realized that most of the clones had 20% flavorings which is par for the course over there.

Hopefully he doesn't see the other site. Speaking of which Wayne had 2 videos a while back about this subject:

Per usual he speaks the truth.
