Weekly 'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of February 16, 2018
submitted over 7 years ago by AutoModeratorBootylicious

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! Don't forget to include manufacturers' names for all of your concentrates, and make your list easier to read by using bullet points or at least listing each of your flavors on a new line by hitting return twice after each flavor.

Impatient and want to do this on your own? /u/daath has a nice website that has this functionality, but you will need to register to make it work. It is not very intuitive but if you work with it you can input your flavors and get a list of recipes that you can make. To get this to work, first set up an account. Then add your flavors to the stash (under my page / my flavor stash). Hit save. Then go back to the front page and click the link next to the search field, "Search by flavor stash." You can select a couple of your flavors and recipes that have those will pop up.

Happy Mixing!

It's hell on your cotton and coils and might not be good for you, though at least you're not smoking. You've already got the yellow cake so you might as well put it to use.

Try

Strawberry Shortcake

  • 2% FW Yellow Cake
  • 6% TFA Strawberry Ripe
  • 1.5% TFA Strawberry
  • 2% TFA Bavarian Cream
  • 3% CAP Sugar Cookie
  • 1.5% Cheesecake Graham Crust
  • 1% CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

Coconut Cream Cake

  • 2% FW Yellow Cake
  • 3% TFA Bavarian Cream
  • 2% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust
  • 2% CAP Sugar Cookie
  • 1.25% TFA Coconut (not extra)
  • 1% TFA Sweet Cream
  • 1% TFA Marshmallow

As for those other new flavors of yours, try:

  • 3% CAP Golden Pineapple
  • 2.5% CAP Sweet Mango
  • 2% TFA Raspberry Sweet
  • 1.5% FW Blood Orange
  • 0.5% TFA Dragonfruit
  • 0.5% INW Cactus

And

This Lilt recipe: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/12708#lilt_by_kepinskiuk

And

  • 7% TFA Grape Juice
  • 1% FA Kiwi
  • 1% TFA Raspberry Sweet
  • 1% TFA Strawberry
  • 0.5% FA Fuji Apple
  • 0.5% CAP Grapefruit
  • 0.25% FA Blackcurrant

> Dulce de Leche (TPA)
Double chocolate clear (TPA)
Coconut Extra (TPA)
Sweet Cream (TPA)

For a all TPA mix, it would be pretty good. Maybe a bit of marshmallow to thicken it. The chocolate undertones of the Dulce le Leche works with the chocolate, the chocolate shares some flavor volatiles with coconut, and coconut has dairy/cream flavor volatiles. You could go chocolate dominant, or coconut, or even dairy forward. All should work, although I'd probably go for making the chocolate central.

2 points

by bulldog1602over 7 years agoFrugivore

Sounds awesome actually! Any idea on %’s for coconut dominant?

1 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

I might try the coconut extra @2-2.5% for coconut dominant. Everything else ~3% each. (Although I'd probably go down to 2% on the sweet cream if you add 1% marshmallow). Or you could try 4% coconut and 1% coconut extra. It's a starting point, at least.

Note: I have never attempted to make a coconut dominant mix. I accidentally did so once, when a blend of FA Cocoa and TFA Irish Cream turned into a coconut flavored vape after a week or so. (I still have to make a recipe that takes advantage of that odd behavior.)

Got some pistachio cream coming in. Any advice?

2 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

It depends. I could make several suggestions, but if you don't have FA Espresso, or FA Cocoa, or SC Black Fire, or one of the other ingredients in one of the mixes I'd suggest, it's kinda pointless.

In general... if you have a hot chocolate mix you like, it would fit there. It would probably fit in with a peanut butter mix. It should complement a tobacco. It might work with a caramel like RY4D. And if you're a fan of custards, mixing it with a tiny bit of FA Espresso and a base of FA Custard would probably work.

1 points

by rsmeadows777over 7 years ago

I don't have any of those, but I do have tfa coffee

2 points

by rsmeadows777over 7 years ago

I also have CAP Custard. I'm really wanting to nail down a pistachio ice Cream.. I don't have ry4, but I do have some Caramel and 555 tobacco. Lol

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

I'm not familiar with TFA Coffee. Does it taste like coffee, or like some atrocity that's been committed on coffee by people who hate coffee but like cream and sugar?

Anyhow, probably the best suggestion I can make without knowing what you have is to do a single flavor test.

  1. If it's from TFA, make a 10ml sample @8% flavor. (Most other flavor houses, start at 4%)
  2. Divide that equally into two (labeled) containers.
  3. Top up one of them to 10ml using VG (or a premixed base).
  4. If your last batch was at least 1%, GOTO 2.
  5. Make sure your labels were correct, while it's fresh in your memory. (Hint: you should have samples @ .5%, 1%, 2%, 4%, and possibly 8%. You kinda want to know which is which later.)
  6. Steep at least a week or two, if not a month.
  7. Test them, starting from the weakest progressing to the strongest, taking notes.

You don't necessarily need to test the highest concentration. If 4% seems overly strong, you can stop there. You don't need to torture your tastebuds.

2 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

You could also use 5% FW Lemonade with .25% Lemon Mix, as a replacement. I've never touched FW Lemonade, but that mix is supposed to be a good alternative to the 4% LA Lemonade and 1% FA Lemon Sicily I normally use for lemonades. Also, I suggest a couple day steep rather than SnV if you go with the original suggestion.

by fackyuuover 7 years ago

Buy some WS-23 and make your juice ice cold, help make fruity flavors pop when it's very col (IMO). Possibly buy some AJs, Nasty Juice, or Fantasi Ice (Mayalsian juice companies, there are many to choose from) to test out if you like WS-23 first, if you do like the cold throat hit then get your own supply and mix it up with any flavor you want (works best with fruits).

I live in SE Asian where it's super hot too and WS-23 juices are beyond amazing. Always mind blown it hasn't caught on and more people don't vape ice cold.

2 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

It's been catching on. Probably the reason is baked goods and custards are too popular right now... not a lot of straight fruit recipes being put out these days. I'm firmly in agreement. Although I think ultimately I'll settle for a mix of Polar Blast, WS-5 and WS-23 in most of mine. More balanced cooling...

3 points

by fackyuuover 7 years ago

The more i think about this the more it makes perfect sense! I remember now how Polar Blast and koolada gave me an really odd cooling sensation, nothing like what I was looking for except there was something going on. Having this in combination could add a balance like you mentioned, normally I'll add a little extra ws-23 even to already cold Malaysian juice, but in strict comparison of my diy efforts with some super hardcore ice cold commercial brands I've felt theirs had something more to it.

2 points

by fackyuuover 7 years ago

Hey that's a great thought, I have some Polar Blast and koolada from when I first started mixing but I only tried them a few times haven't touched them since. They never added the cooling I wanted since the first juice I bought was from Malaysia w/ WS-23. But I could see a mix of the being interesting. I normally use ws-23 in heavy amounts and since they taste funky at higher percentages it might overpower them anyways. What % mix do you normally do?

2 points

by juthincover 7 years agoOne of "The Damned"

I meant to ask, have you tried those three tobacco flavors you have, and if so what's your take on them?

Also... I had a commercial juice when I first started vaping that was blackberry, black currant, blueberry and raspberry. (And a shitload of sweetener, as memory serves.) I remember it as being very tasty of a combination. I'm not sure if the versions you have would be the same as they used (I'm certain they didn't use INW Raspberry tho) but you could give it a try. I've yet to get a black currant flavor, for whatever reason, so no clue what the balance should be...

2 points

by lambueljacksonover 7 years ago

If I recall correctly, the USA Type is a bit “darker”, very earthy. I don’t have much to compare it to, like I’ve never tried Black for Pipe or those things. Red Type II is reminiscent of those weird “not even close” “””tobacco””” juices from smoke shops back in the Evod/Ego days.

Get some TFA Kentucky Bourbon and you'll have a use for the Toasted Marshmallow.

2% Koolada
2% FA Fuji
.5% FA Lime Tahity
1.5% TFA Champagne
.2% INW Cactus
(This mix reminds me most of Strongbow's. If you ever get some elderflower, it works with this too...)

Also, you have the makings for a Arnold Palmer type vape, between the ice tea, sweet tea, lemonade, and some koolada. Spike it with some Jamaican rum.

I've used a few teas. I don't have access to my notes right now, and I can't remember every flavor I have (which yes, leads to getting duplicates sometimes when I order) Tl;dr - maybe. I'll get back to you when I know for sure which brands I used.

Thanks for the recipe suggestions though I'll make em up and give em a blast! Thanks ID10-T!

Here's my list! Seems like I have a good starting point, to me anyway. However, I can't seem to come up with any ideas. Could be lack of creativity!?!

Anyway, I'd love to see what you all can come up with. If it helps, I tend to like baked goods juices. Really looking to make a good waffle, pound cake, and sugar cookie.

Also, if you have any ideas on what staple flavors I should add to the collection, feel free to comment. I plan to place an order soon since NicRiver has their sale active.

HS Australian Chocolate has quite the following, tho, so you could use that too. Something for a icing would help. And.. orange is used IRL as part of a glaze base for donuts. A miniscule amount of FA Bergamot would be good for that. And Marzipan... if you want to try creating a Stöellen vape.

More things to help you make a great pound cake & waffle: JF Biscuit, TFA Butter, FW Butterscotch Ripple, Liquid Barn Belgian Waffle.

2.5% FA Fuji
1.5% TFA Champagne
.15% INW Cactus
~2% FA Polar Blast (adjust to taste, but you want this cold.) A but of lime is optional on this one.

Is the INW Lemon old stock or the reformulated? The old one is a useful lemonade flavor, the new one... not so much. But a nice cold lemonade vape can take most types of berry or citrus you wish to throw at it. Other than that, apple makes a good base for other fruit mixes. And fruits are best when cold. Unless you're trying for a mulled cider flavor.

This looks lovely juthinc. Thanks a mill. inw lemon is old stock. Will throw some lime into this one. It's one of my favourite fruit flavours. Was testing various butterscotches and marshmallows at the weekend so my lungs are aching This will be a refreshing break.

I have some Nasty Juice ASAP Grape and it tastes like a great grape juice but with sweet tarts or pixie sticks on the backend. It's really nice.

Are there any flavors that add a touch of sweet tarts or pixie sticks?

TFA Sweet and Tart is supposed to. YMMV.

Wonder Flavors has a Pixie stick flavoring that's good. Also FLV has Candy Roll-it's good, but not quite as tart as the TFA Sweet and Tart. That's not a bad thing, though, as the TFA can be a bit much. One other you might want to try is Flavor West Grape Soda-to me it tastes like purple sweettarts.

What would you guys recommended with these flavors. Also I might buy some more flavors soon, any recomendations? (TFA prefered)

(tfa) strawberry ripe

(tfa) cinnamon sugar cookie

(cap) marshmallow

(tfa) vanilla bean ice cream

(tfa) phillipine mango

(tfa) kentucky bourbon

(tfa) pear candy

TFA Double Chocolate Clear
TFA Toasted marshmallow
TFA pomegranate deluxe

You should also get FA Fuji, FA Polar Blast, and LA Lemonade if you can. Also, you probably could use some mint flavors, and some other cooling agents like WS-5 and/or WS-23. INW Cactus is also pretty useful. If you don't already know this - avoid the TFA DX flavors. Also don't get TFA Honey. TFA Cinnamon Spice is useful... just get a 3ml sample of it. Dilute 3ml into a 60ml solution... you can use that solution at about 1%.

thx for the response

yea i will get those TFA you listed and cap cool mint. I can't find the other flavors at cloudhouse vapor though.

What is the cactus for, flavor or something else? And wow is the cinnamon that strong.

Cactus is meant to add wetness. Use it at levels below .5% to do that. It also can be used for aloe flavor. And yes, TFA ~~Death by~~ Cinnamon Spice is that strong.

And if you ever decide to pick up a bunch of flavors you can't normally get, I suggest Chef's Flavors out of the UK. Better prices on shipping than a lot of sources. (Note: if you do, order 'flavor creative' versions of FA flavors - it's rebranded FA anyway, but cheaper - and Xpress Flavors are Flavor Express. Chef's Choice flavors are, as best I can determine, each individually sourced, so it's hit or miss. Research some, they've probably got other rebranded flavors available cheaper than the original names.)

Forgot to mention earlier... With what you have, I'd probably go with a candy vibe, so...:
3.25% CAP dutch chocolate mint
1.75% TFA pear candy
1.25% CAP marshmallow
.75% TFA kentucky bourbon

Strawberry Ripe is good but doesn't survive steeping very well. Shake/vape

Mango... I have a huge bottle from a year ago. Still have most of it.

Vanilla Bean Icecream : Ordered it a week ago. Bulk steeping a micky in order to blend into various recipes. Like it so far.

Don't have the rest.

Just got ruby chocolate (red velvet?) and am impressed.

Grape Juice has been my 'go to' since ordering in the fall. I blend other fruits in at low % to give some depth

Bavarian Cream is quite popular. I blend pre-steeped in with Ripe Strawberry

Dragonfruit really adds a good profile to many recipes

Apple with FW's salted caramel is badass

Anyone have any suggestions for a menthol vanilla juice? A friend of a friend is requesting it but I'm not sure where to start. VBIC? Vanilla swirl? Menthol? Koolada?
