Howdy. Mixers! Hope you all had a happy Valentine's Day! And for those of you who woke up alone this morning, maybe you can take comfort in the fact that it's just a Hallmark holiday and nobody loves you the other 364 days a year, either, so there's no good reason to get all bent out of shape about this one.
Here go again. /u/DarkJester89 is the MVP of the January Challenge and will be contacted about a small token of appreciation.
The purpose behind this monthly clone challenge is to gather the community behind an effort to clone just one juice.
The subject of this month's challenge is Capone by The Sauce LA, which was requested by proud sidebar reader /u/Metalspirit
Metalspirit writes, "I haven't tried a lot of cereal vapes but that is my favourite. I have just ordered their Flavour Boost to make some myself but I am interested in what they use so perhaps I can make it with a bit less sweetener."
The Sauce LA describes Capone as, "Tart, crispy cereal on the inhale and rich, creamy milk on the exhale" and goes on to claim that it is "a fruity hoop cereal juice for vape with a perfect blend of fruitiness and creaminess to re-create the best breakfast cereal experience. We capture the essence of opening a new box of fruity cereal on the inhale and milk-soaked cereal at the bottom of the bowl on the exhale and palate."
A reminder from the previous clone challenge posts: You are perfectly welcome to completely ignore the cloning aspect of this challenge and just consider the juice description as a prompt to create a recipe all your own with that profile. In this case, that would be Fruit Loops. Capone is a stupid name for a fruit loop juice, by the way.
Please respond with recipes for Capone by The Sauce LA, ideas about how to start an attempt to clone that flavor, your own delicious fruit loops recipe, general thoughts about having a monthly clone challenge, hate mail, love letters, lewd artwork, dirty limericks, comments, questions, concerns, anything remotely on topic. Thank you.
A few months back, Sauce L.A. had a ludicrously low priced super sale, and i actually bought juice for the first time in a long time. I was able to get the entire line up for about $20, with shipping included. I have to say that Capone was the absolute worst out of the lot, straight up lemon furniture polish, it was completely vile. If you like this, great, we all have different taste buds, but, I see no reason at all to try and clone this, it belongs in an EPA super-fund site in New Jersey.
So TFA Fruit Circles, then.
If that's what was in it, I have a concentrate to avoid. I've never been into milk/cereal vapes much, so, Capone was a 'Hey, let's try something new" moment and I got my taste buds annihilated, and not in a good way.
Lol, I never Vaped their stuff but just based on the insane low-ball pricing they do and sales, I always imagined it's made as cheaply and fast as possible. Wouldn't be surprised if it was just that with some simple added flavors. Throw some TFA milk in with it and call it a day.
Then again, my best guess is it's just FW Fruit Rings because it's simple and close. I've seen ppl say what the guy above said, but I've seen people love this juice too. Maybe like a Watermelon Crack, people love it but I think it's just nasty.
My go to fruit loops:
1.5 % tfa fruit circles 1-2% fa meringue 1% fa cream fresh 2% tfa berry crunch 2% tfa strawberry ripe
Super easy and my go to lazy don’t feel like thinking cause I need a mix now mix. But better after at least a few days. Lately I have been adding cap silverline fruit circles, usually around 5-7% and it’s really punched it up. Super good
Never had the Capone, so I can't speak to it. Ya, there are a lot of fruit loops out there, and I'm sure there might be a couple out there close. I decided to go my own route, and come up with something that I find close to fruit loops. I find Fruit Loops to be very lemony with a hint of lime. I came accross something that worked a bit ago, and still slightly tweaking it.
Fruit Loops
- TPA - AP @ .25%
- TPA - Bavarian Cream @ 1%
- FW - Hazelnut @ 1%
- CAP - Juicy Lemon @ 1.25%
- CAP - Lemon Lime @ .5%
- FA - Meringue @ 2%
This comes out to be a slightly milky, creamy fruit loops that I have found to be enjoyable that last few iterations I have gone through.
Thank you for choosing my idea! TheSauceLa Capone tastes like dry fruit loops in my opinion. The lemon is there and it is strong but not overpowering. I don’t have any tpa cereal flavours but I can say that FW fruity flakes definitely doesn’t remind me of Capone. I also mixed their flavour boost a few weeks ago. Will re wick on weekend and try to post a more thorough review.
Dry fruit loops makes me think of TBD Cereal Fiend v1. Which from searching Looper is also a dry cereal. If you've had either of these how do they compare? Or if you've tried any of the Looper clones, how do they compare. It doesn't look like anyone has tried to clone Cereal Fiend yet. But comparing similar profile eliquids usually lets some of the nuances jump out when you're looking for differences.
Have you tried Cereal Killa? It's also supposedly a dry fruit loops type. The recipe I copied above is supposed to be a decent clone of it, only a slightly milkier version. The original clone recipe was:
FA Meringue 3%
FE Lemon 3%
FA Orange 2%
FW Yellow Cake 1%
CAP Sweet Tangerine 1%
FA Bergamot 0.5%
Acetyl Pyrazine 0.5%
Again, you want JF Yellow Cake, not FW. Unless you have a grudge against your health.
Just to assist in the assignment I can tell you that when I ordered Capone and it first arrived, it primarily tasted of undeveloped creams and slightly pledge like lemon. I let it sit for a month and it became more of a slightly dry and close representation of fruit loops with a well developed cream that was just a notch or two below the fruit loop intensity. It had a medium to medium/heavy mouthfeel to it. I do not believe it has CAP Lemon Lime as that stuff seems to take over everything i mix it in. It is also not the same as Cereal Killa as far as I remember (been a while since I mixed that up).
Lemon Pledge screams 2-4% FA Lemon Sicily. And CAP Lemon Lime is more a lime flavor.
I have seven different fruit loops right now trying to nail it down.
I have these cereal flavors
TFA loops
CaP SL loops
FW loops
TFA Berry Cereal
TFA lucky charms
And a bunch of support. One of the best so far is
Flavours: be
CS fruit Circles (5.0 %) : 1.50 ml
TFA F circles (0.75 %) . 0.225 ml
FW F RINGS (0.5 %) . 0.15 ml
TFA VBIC (4 %) . 1.20 ml
TFA Chzcke Grhm (3.5 %) . 1.05 ml
Edit: anyone .got a good recipe that uses any of the cereal flavors I listed above. I'm trying to up my game and master these flavors.
I haven't had this particular juice before but my first go with cereal flavors ended up being something like this. 4% FW Fruity Flakes 1.5% TPA Blueberry Extra 2% CA Juicy Lemon 2% TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream 1% CA Creamy Yogurt 1.5% FW Cheesecake 0.25% Acetyl Pyrazine
Not my favorite but gets you in the ballpark.
That being said I'll be paying pretty close attention to this thread. Cereal Vapes are just about my favorite and I've never been able to totally nail a mix that I want to keep the same.
The Fourth Horseman might be a good start
AP 5% (TPA) - .5%
Bergamot (FA) -.55%
Cream Fresh (FA) - 1.00%
Fruit Circle (TPA) .25%
Fruit Rings (FW) 3.00%
Lemon Meringue Pie V1 (CAP) 1.5%
Oba Oba (FA) .5%
Sweet Cream (CAP) 2%
Vanilla Shisha (INW) 1%
Vienna Cream (FA) 1%
Total flavor %: 13.8%
Omit creams for dry fruit loops
Fantastic and flavorful fruit loops..
2 week steep minimum.
Who doesn't love fruit loops?
First we start with our loop base.
Using Fw flakes/loops and tfa circles make for a great sugary base. You can omit the Fw flakes if you're scared of the sugar syrup. AP adds a touch of grainy flavor, you can sub 2% tpa or Fw rice crispy type in place of AP.
Cap lemon meringue pie finishes our loop base and starts our creamy milk.
Shisha Vanilla is our secret weapon for our milk base. At this low of a percentage it has a fantastic milky flavor and is lightly sweet. Sweet cream deepens out the milk flavor. Vienna cream is a necessity of this recipe, it blends fantastic with SV And bev cream creating a wonderfully unique and balanced cream/milk flavor.
Oba Oba is the secret ingredient of this recipe. Honestly, I won't tell you what it does. You'll have to taste that yourself.
The Bavarian cream is here to complement the milk base and add more sweetness to the mix. The light caramel notes you'll taste create that sugar coating on the loops/flakes.
For an optional kick, add 0.15% FA Bergamot to the mix.

I am vaping their flavor boost at 15% right now. Personally I get a bit of a dry grain with a sweet lemon (strong but no pledge or overpowering) and a hint of orange I believe. There might be some cream there to mellow it but I definitely don't taste milk.
I got capone in a recent sale and it's pretty good as a cereal vape. After the initial fruit cereal flavor wears down I get a bubblegum from it. somewhere near LA or TFA's bubblegum flavors.
sticking to TFA, probabyl fruit circles, bubblegum, lemon, meringue. some cream, not sure which but it's light. maybe whipped cream. dry but not a corn/AP dryness.
Interesting, bubblegum in a cereal. Could the light cream be TFA Fruit Circles in Milk?
smelling them side by side I successfully blew out my receptors but they do smell similar. the major difference is that Capone seems to be using a non-sucralose based sweetener. I wouldn't say a marshmallow or ethyl maltol. tasting FCwM on the back of my hand vs capone i'd say there's a low to mid probability that it's what they're using.
Though, doesn't capone predate FCwM being publicly available? it could be fruit circles + dairy/milk.
I get a bubblegum-like flavor from silly rabbit. I'm now 95% sure they're using a mix of FW Fruit Rings and TFA Silly Rabbit.
FW Fruit rings @ 2%
and
TFA Silly Rabbit @ 1.5%
hits the fruit cereal note in capone nearly perfectly.
here's the recipe that drove me to this conclusion, using a milk base from steamroomvaping.
Is there a march version of this clone challenge starting soon? /u/ID10-T
Uh... I thought there was already a fairly close fruit loops recipe out. Something involving Yellow Cake and Bergamot and AP and a bunch of stuff. I'll edit in a link when I refind it.
Here it is, updated because the original called for FW YC. It'd be a reasonable starting point... maybe take the creams from The Count and mix them in at slightly lower percentages?
All blame belongs to Jackster:
FW Hazelnut 2%
FA Meringue 2%
FA Bergamot 1.5%
FA Orange 1%
Cap Tang 1%
FE Lemon 3%
JF Yellow Cake 2%
I'm sure there are a few recipes out that do Fruit Loops better than "Sauce LA" but somebody wants a copy of "Capone," which might or might not be close to actual fruit loops.
Hopefully this recipe you posted or another will wind up being something /u/Metalspirit likes even more than Capone.
Ah. Depending how bad the original is, I'm guessing TFA Fruity Hoops (or whatever their version is called) and TFA Dairy Milk and a bunch of sweetener may be the actual recipe. I figured, why not just give the profile rather than the exact clone...
Of course. "You are perfectly welcome to completely ignore the cloning aspect of this challenge and just consider the juice description as a prompt to create a recipe all your own with that profile." "Please respond with recipes for Capone by The Sauce LA, ideas about how to start an attempt to clone that flavor, your own delicious fruit loops recipe...
You done good.
Splice by Mr Wicky! I made juthinc's mockup recipe last month and it wasn't quite near the mark, however it got me experimenting further..
I can provide a head start!
It has..
Vanilla Ice Cream / WS-23 / FLV Lime (99% sure) / Cotton Candy (EM) / Unsure of Pineapple /
Any help would be fantastic!
Typically commercial juices stick to one or two flavor houses. So try FLV pineapple if you're con Vince about the lime. Or maybe they used CAP pineapple and CAP lemon lime.
Golden Pineapple (CAP) is where its at) but this thread is more at home in the clone request thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/7uiapf/monthly_clone_request_thread_february_2018/
This thread is to focus on one designated flavor, (this month is Fruit Loops)
