does ws-23 fade over time?
submitted over 7 years ago by kussaa

i've been loving ws-23 the last while. i used to be hooked on menthol crystals but it felt like it was degrading the nicotine (or at least changing the psychoactivity) so the discovery of ws-23 has been a game changer.

it's amazing how it can take a cloying, bogged down juice and turn it into a magically refreshing vape.

however, it may just be in my head, but does the strength of ws-23 get reduced over time? i don't think it's a case of getting accustomed to the cooling, as i often rotate out with non ws-23 juices but it seems to me like there is less cooling than before.

i've seen one other post mentioning it... has anyone else had this experience?

would it be more efficient then to add the ws-23 to smaller batches, of say 10ml at a time rather than to 30ml bottles where by the time half of it is done, half of the cooling effect has dissipated?

I find it fades over time, I generally add it in small batches

i'll do that in the future... i really can't enjoy anything vanilla or creamy, so it will be easy to make smaller batches of short steep fruit recipes

For sure and if you find it fading it doesn’t need a steep so just add a bit more :)

Do you guys prefer ws23 to Koolada - and if so, can you tell me why?

koolada or ws-3 is a menthol derivative, so even though it's supposed to be tasteless it affects juice flavors more than ws-23. it is about double the cooling power of ws-23 however.

ws-23 is smoother in the sense that it feels more like a cooling taste, whereas koolada is more of a cooling inhale.

Have you used WS23 with any orange flavoured juices?

I tried a orange soda ejuice with koolada and it was getting that same sort of flavour you get when you drink orange juice after brushing your teeth.

Just wondering if you can avoid that with WS23.

Yes that's Koolada. It mutes and distorts flavors. WS-23 doesn't do that at all, that's one of its biggest advantages. Since switching to WS-23 I'll never go back to Koolada

i mixed up the Fantasia remix by Dazcole

and it's an outstanding bright and lightly sweet orange taste

Also curious about this. Koolada is in my adv which ive been using for over a year now, and if ws23 is better I'd definitely want to try it

It has a different cooling effect. It's more in throat. Also it doesn't change taste as Koolada. Some people get the best effect combining these two

They're great together. You don't need to use as much of either for the same level of cooling, and they don't affect flavor like using just one would at levels required for a really icy vape.

It fades a little on me, still obviously present after a 3 months. It also seems to seriously darken any mix I add it to (1% to 1.5%).

Not sure where you get it from but it doesn’t darken any of my mixes

Yes it fades, but not completely.

given enough time, do you think it would fade completely?

Given enough time every flavoring would fade completely.

But the monkey would still be whacking away on his typewriter. A rose by any other name... what about tulip? Rose is fine - moving on.

I love it...for about two hits. For some reason it causes almost instant olfactory fatigue for me.

Where do you buy ws-23 and do some places label it as something different? Nicriver only has ws-3

WS-23 is only ever sold (in the western world) as WS-23. Maybe in the south pacific it's labeled differently (it's used heavily in that area). WS-3 is koolada. I've got it from Chef's. It's also now available at thebrokevaper.ca
