I was trying to find a malboro menthol recipe and realized that all the subreddits for cigarette flavors were locked/archived and thought it would be a decent idea to assimilate/absorb/gather good recipes to assist folks in finding those wacky tobaccy recipes for their friends and loved ones that can't quit get their foot to connect with the bucket.
Heres to helping folks quit smoking!
The flavors that I’ve come across that seem like they’d work well in a cigarette recipe have mostly given me Marlboro Red vibes. I hated Reds when I smoked though. SC M-Style, INW US Red Mix, and FE Real Cig all have those kind of high note, chemical cigarette taste that I got from Reds. Then there’s FLV Classic Cigarette and FLV Arabian that are both kind of funky and kind of have a chemical note to them, but don’t necessarily scream Reds to me. Maybe more of a roll your own type of thing.
When I smoked, I was a loyal Camel man. First carton I ever bought was Camel Turkish Silvers (I believe these have since been reblended, and from the reviews I’ve read they suck now.) Then I bought cartons of Camel Filters (also got a new Blend in 2008, which apparently sucks too.) Then I finally settled on Camel Lights. Mixing wise, I’m more interested in the Turkish Silvers (the way I remember them) and Camel Filters. I read Cigarette reviews quite a bit to try to remember the taste, and it seems like Camel Unfiltered is the only blend that has remained constant, so I’ve been using those reviews to guide my mixing.
I’ve only had a couple packed of Camel Turkish Golds, but from what I remember, they were similar to the Silvers, but a bit more robust.
Not a finished recipe!
- HS Elder Captain- .25%
- INW Fortuna Strike- 1%
- FLV Oriental- .75%
- FLV Sweet Cigarette- .5%
- INW US Light Mix- .75%
Sweet Cigarette and US Light are actually pretty similar, but US Light has a very strange, authentic cigarette quality to it. It’s got a bit of ash and nastiness that really makes it taste like a light cigarette to me.
/u/gaviotu posted this recipe in the February recipe thread, and it seems pretty promising so far. It got me interested in trying to figure out this damn Camel thing once and for all. I’ve only been messing around with it for a couple days, so I can’t say this is going to be great in a week or two, but it’s decent so far. Definitely going to be working on it more.
Camel Toe
- HS No. 5- 3%
- FLV Red Burley- .8%
- INW S’Camel- 2.5% (aka Pyramid aka Dromedary)
- INW Tobacco Absolute Oriental- .8%
- INW Dirty Neutral Base- 1%
It’s nutty and rich, and has a bit of that Turkish vibes in it, but I am thinking I need to add a little something to really boost the Oriental spice notes. I was messing around with HS Desert Ship with it, and it might make its way back in. Also considering TFA Turkish. God help me.
Thanks for the info! Looks great! I started smoking reds, then switched to 27s and then I quit on newports.
I made a Menthol for a guy once using my Lucy recipe and just added 1% FA Polar Blast. He was a Newport smoker and said he liked it a lot. I’ve never been in to menthols, so I never tried it myself.

I'm not sure what's up with your account, but possibly whatever setting you have switched to completely hide your account is making all of your comments get stuck in our spam filter.
We get other occasional posts like this, but that's because they are typically just sort of random and spammy, but you appear to be attempting actual meaningful participation in the threads.
Had to reply to this comment because I can't even pm you. Tell me if you figure out what causes this?
Checking out the 3 recent FOTW tobacco posts along with anything posted by /u/bobbysavage is probably going to be your best bet for tackling this one.
Here's an older FOTW on tobacco blends as well
bluntman and chronic is the worst comic ive ever read jay and silent bob are stupid characters a cpl of stoners who spout dumbass catchphrases like a 3rd rate cheech n chong or bill n ted
fuck jay n silent bob
fuck them up their stupid asses
Man reading this thread makes me crave for cigarettes again. And not the crappy marlboro ones. I had an Italian class mate back I shanghai who often rolls his cigs, and when I ran out I bummed him some. Felt weird smoking a rolled up cig, but i remember it was quite tasty. I also had a Japanese friend who introduced me to Caster a Japanese cigarette that's like lights, but had a vanilla taste. I swear it was so addictive. Then I visited some friends in Indonesia and was able to try clove cigarettes. Man they were also good. But difficult to chain smoke due to the complexity and spiceness of the flavors.
sorry to curb up some cravings but I thought it would be helpful to those who either have old smoking craving trying to quit or vapers who have those cravings come up.
Ive seriously thought about your question (shit now y'all know im lyin')
Extract a (good) cigar. (serious) then go from there
or creep /u/solanaceaeenthusiast for the 1up
Thanks for all the input so far, Things I've going for now -Dirty Neutral Base -Desert Ship -Western (TFA) but I can't find it on ecig express, (which is the only site I can find DNB on. I did find a possible alt. in the form on American Tobacco USA (FW) http://www.ecigexpress.com/diy-e-liquid/browse-flavorings/tobacco-flavors/american-tobacco-usa-blend-by-flavor-west.html?p=2 -Spearmint
I had 2 requests:
Would the American Tobacco USA be a good fill-in for the Western TPA (which a lot of folks said was a good base) and then..
I have tobacco absolute (ECX) which I've used in boba bounty attempts, which I learned was a strong tobacoo flavor, I haven't used it enough towards a cigeratte flavor, but do any tobacco folks have any exp with TA (ECX)
Thanks in advance.
Order from BCF
HS Desert Ship - not sure which Desert Ship you’re going for
The ECX Tobacco Absolute is pretty decent. It reminds me a lot of the INW Tobacco Absolute Virginia, but a bit stronger. I’d use .5-.8% in a Cigarette mix to get a bit of grassiness in there.
Great info! Thanks again, I never would've found the dnb, I think it was desert ship fa, but im Def gonna get dnb now that it Mrs accessible with the other flavors. I added about 8 drops to a 10ml sample and it must turned into a very nice menthol smoke. (Little mild then I'd like but it was for fora friend who will be giving feedback. Edit: damn the tiny keyboard
Did you decide on Western because of that older tobacco thread? Because 10% of that sounds a bit terrifying to me. I just used it in a recipe at .5% and it is one of the main flavors I taste. It’s not a bad flavor, but 10% would probably kill me. Just a heads up.
ok so, my opinion, if you're willing to drip and spend some time for best taste results would be to go the naturally extracted tobacco route.
What you'll be doing is essentially cloning diy recipes for folks who roll their own cigarretes using tubes and machines (they do this to save money)
So they've already done the ground work to try and get something close to what the original cigarette tasted like.
so first, naturally extracted tobacco overview : https://www.reddit.com/r/diytobaccoejuice/comments/3lde8i/wikivapia_net_article/
tldr : macerate real tobacco in pg with or without heat and then filter it, now you have a concentrate.
This concentrate = a flavor extract, just like you would buy to make any diy ejuice
so you'll be doing this for multiple different tobacco blends once you have a recipe you want to recreate (you have to make your own concentrates)
for recipe examples we search terms such as "roll your own tobacco recipes" and find pages like this , but lots of sites exist such as [this](http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/best-menthol-roll-your-own-cigarettepipe-tobacco-discussion] <-which is easy because its one and done , or for the more complicated but probably better for end results (as you'll be able to tweak it to your liking) by blending
so to recap, in my opinion for the best flavor youll want to extract your own concentrate using real tobacco and mix with that.
if you want to try some to see if this is worth your time, id recommend these folks , clays been making NET for like 5 years or something, i'm almost positive he will gladly give one of those a kick of menthol for you and then you can judge for yourself if this is the route to go.
:O thanks for the heads up, I haven't dabbled in n.e.t, but I have a few bottles of concenrs from over time. I'll see what I can do with it, but I was going for a more ...uh..commercial diy route where the flavors are easily obtainable via BCF/EXC/WL, thanks in advance.
I’ve been looking everywhere for an RYO tobacco recipe for either Tourney or Maverick full flavor. I know Tourney is considered a generic but I’m not sure about Maverick, and I assume that’s why I’m having trouble finding recipes for them. The main thing is looking for is a full flavor that’s more harsh and “crisp” than something like Marlboro and camel. Those both taste thick, heavy and not strong enough.
It is very hard to describe the taste of smoke as I have recently learned.
From experience, smokers who want juice that taste like cigarettes don't really want to quit and they inevitably give up on quitting.
They're just wasting your time, consciously or not, so they can say "I've tried!".
Cool story, but in my experience as a field advocate for MASFA, the few hundred folks I met and helped, at least 60 folks quit and never went back strictly that they had the tobacco fix (store bought). Thanks for the unhelpful response though.
I quit smoking nearly 4 month ago and since then vaping mostly tobacco and RY4 recipes and never look back, simply I like tobacco flavor, where is the problem?
