Is this correct proportion?
Im looking for a diy nic salt calculator similar to the one we use to diy eliquids with the posibility to calculate given different acids (citric, benzoic...)
Im a bit scared about benzoic acid (toxic to cats, benzene formation..) so im considering using citric acid instead but cant seem to find much info and the one i find is contradictory.
Thanks.
I did mine using the 'recipes' and calculations from Vermont Vapor.
Citric Acid Solution
1 g Citric Acid USP (anhydrous)
1 ml Distilled Water
Heat water to above 120 deg. F., slowly add citric acid while stirring until all is dissolved and solution is clear (a very, very pale yellow).
According to their recipe, the amount of that solution used was 0.0007566 x (total mg of Nic). ie if I were going to make 100mL of 50mg, I would add 3.78mL of the 1:1 CA Solution.
I did just that this past weekend, then mixed a Watermelon Menthol juice with 36mg for my great nephew to use in his JUUL. He refilled his pod, took a hit, said it was great and went on his way.
Give it a go :)
Humor me and tell me why you would use this. Or nic salts in general. Seems like a whole lotta trouble. Honestly asking here.
You can get a good nic hit at lower wattage less vapor production. Mostly for mtl I would think.
Thanks for reply. I guess if you really wanted to extend battery life and get your nicotine fix quicker that would be the way to go. So I would assume they are more widely used by people trying to kick their cigarette habit. But with that, wouldn’t the complicated “chemistry” involved deter quitters? I would think a good MTL with 12mg nic would do basically the same thing without all the added hassle.
One of the main advantages of nic salts is that is crosses the blood barrier quicker than freebase nicotine. Essential, the freebase will take about 20-30 minutes to take effect, whereas nic salts take 5-7 seconds which is closer to par with cigarettes.
You can create your own, buy pre-manufactured salt juice, or use premade nic salt solution to create your own. It's a 1:1 ratio for mixing.
Hope this helps!
From my limited experience with NudeNicotine's Signature salt - you get the throat hit of the nicotine level but about half the 'buzz'.
I usually vape 12mg freebase MtL, but with the nic salts I use ~20mg. I get a similar 'buzz' as my usual 12mg freebase but the throat hit feels more like 18-24mg.
I dunno about everyone else but for me the nicotine 'throat' hit feels like a tightness/restriction in my upper lungs/chest, whereas the PG throat hit just feels like harshness in my throat. So I guess if you really wanted to fine tune the throat hit of your juice it could have some use. Personally I don't care about throat hit enough to pay the extra and go out of my way to use it.
Sorry to ask again, im confused, some people states the juul patent shows 2.37:1 CA:NIC for nic salts, could it be that the vermont vapour formulae is not meant to fully transform the freebase nic into nic salts and the use of CA is intended for other purposes like flavour/hit ?
Lets say i have 100mg freebase NIC VG base. I want to make 100ml base @ 5mg NIC salt stregth
So, considering a 2CA:1NiC ratio:
100ml base @ 5mg freebase NIC = 95ml 0mg nic + 5ml 100mg nic So thats 0.005g of freebase NIC x 100ml = 0.5g total freebase NIC 0.5g x 2 = 1g of CA (considering 2:1 CA:NIC)
So adding 1g of CA to my 100ml freebase nic @5mg id get 100ml nic salt @5mg ?
Dunno who some people are or where they found their information but here is a link to the JUUL nic formulations patent if you'd like to read it for yourself.

In my case, I wasn't trying to clone their formula as such, just trying to make a suitable substitute for my great nephew so he can stop buying those damn pods. And as I said, he was very happy with the result, and that's good enough for me :)
