As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.

LA Watermelon 7%
FW Candy Watermelon 1%
TFA Key Lime 1%
La watermelon is the base here it provides a lighter top note melon flavor. Candy Watermelon adds a slight candy taste while providing a deeper watermelon flavor. The key lime is what brings it all together to contrast with the sweet and really pull that watermelon jolly flavor to the front.
Anything that's just lime?
I was sick as a dog last week and needed a break from the bakery flavours. I fancied using FA Fuji but with what? Searched reddit and found this simple two ingredient recipe suggested by ID10T for a beginner. Really nice and refreshing. I don't normally like fruit flavours but this one is in my daily rotation now.
TFA Key lime 1.5%
FA Fuji 3.5%
( added 0.3% FA Polar Blast)
Just whipped up a 30ml batch of this adding the Polar Blast like you suggested. This is surprisingly good. Thanks for posting it. thanks to ID10-T for creating the original recipe.
It's lovely, isn't it. Everyone needs a 2 ingredient recipe in their arsenal. By the way, check all the flavours for ID10-T recipe, 1-2-3 Cranberry Sprite. Only 3 ingredients!
FLV Cranberry 1%
VT Fizzy Sherbet 2 %
CAP Lemon lime 3 %
The recipe is probably on this page but thought I'd alert you to it. It's worth ordering VT Fizzy Sherbet for it, a new flavour company from Australia. I've been after a simple 7up/ Sprite recipe for a while and this apparently nails it.
I'm glad you found a fruity something that you liked. Did you dig that out of some old "Suggest a recipe" thread?
Hope you're feeling better. Next time you're sick, try INW Eucalyptus with Mint. Maybe add some of your Key Lime to that.
I did! Found it on a suggest a recipe thread thread going back to 2016. It's delicious. Of all fruits, lime is the one that does it for me. It livens up so many flavours in food too.
By the way, I can't wait to try your Cranberry Sprite recipe on ATF. Just about to pull the trigger on getting VT Fizzy Sherbet and CAP lemon lime for a simple Sprite drink. Had been searching high and low for a simple 7 up / Sprite recipe last weekend but they were too elaborate.
Well, those elaborate recipes might do a better job of it, I dunno. But if they don't have VT Fizzy Sherbet in there, I doubt it. That stuff comes way closer to emulating carbonation in a vape than all the other things I've tried. It's super neat stuff.
Two things.
-
TFA Key Lime is fantastic, but unfortunately considered Hazmat, so a real pain in the arse if you are in some shithole country like Australia, and no-one will ship it to you.
-
FLV Lime tastes just like Lime Cordial. So good.
Yeah we miss out on lots of cool and interesting sounding concentrate companies. I can add:
INW Lime is very juicy, tasty and realistic - and available in Aus. It's strong, if you would add 1% of INW Lemon, then the INW Lime equivalent would be around 0.25%.
If there are any companies you want to see locally, let me know and I'll try to get them in. Bringing over real flavours soon, had a go with some of their SC line and it's pretty mint.
> TFA Key Lime is fantastic, but unfortunately considered Hazmat, so a real pain in the arse if you are in some shithole country like Australia, and no-one will ship it to you.
Mate - just found this!
The website blurb: 'Key Lime is the most popular of all lime concentrates due to its fresh taste, this product is now a restricted import and very hard to get'
My notes on a few FA lime flavors:
FA Lime Tahity Distilled: Do, not, buy. It's harsh, it's dry, it feels more like a grapefruit than a lime. If you mix this up with Cold Pressed, the recipe is ruined.
FA Lime Tahity Cold Pressed: The one lime for me, a fresh lime you'd expect in a caipirinha or a gimlet. Not harsh, fruity and slightly sour.
FA Lime Florida Key: Slightly more peel than cold pressed, less fruity and I do get something that resembles TPA Vanilla Swirl in there. Didn't work to well in drinks for me, but might add to some bakery recipes.
But a gimlet is made with lime cordial. I'm confused.
Yes, but Lime Cordial is just fresh lime with sugar syrup. /u/InertiaCreeping suggests FLV Lime to be a decent Lime Cordial in another thread here.
What Key Lime do you guys suggest for a key lime pie? I have a recipe steeping with FA Florida Key Lime but I'm open to other suggestions. I'm not a fan of TFA Key Lime and I've tried FA Lime Tahity (Distilled & Cold Pressed) as well but they don't really do the trick.
Have you tried this one Botboy's Key Lime Pie? And if you didn't like it, what was wrong it it that you might be able to fix.
Also, have you tried adding a bit of lemon to a lime flavor to make it more key limey?
I will definitely have to look into adding a lemon flavor to see if that helps support the Lime. Thanks for the suggestions! I'll at least give that recipe a shot. I just don't seem to be a fan of TFA Key Lime but I do have it.
I second definitely giving it a shot, Botboy's is THE definitive Key Lime Pie recipe for me. Sometimes I'll play around with adding some vanilla whipped cream or something similar to add a bit of a 'topping' to it or a marshmallow to add some fluff to the 'filling'. When I want a darker crust, I'll add a bit of Brown Sugar Extra, though Pie Crust is a strong flavor as is so definitely leave that as is.
Have you tried the Key Lime with a Strawberry or some Cactus(with a slight hint of Koolada)? It's not that time of year yet, but I make a higher than usual % of Cactus mixed with Strawberry/Dragonfruit/Raspberry or Key Lime and about 0.5-1.5% Koolada for a cool, refreshing, summer shake and vape.
I use Lime Tahity Cold Pressed in small %'s to add a bit of rind and realness to my Key Lime flavors. I use plain old TFA Key Lime. I'm surprised you're not a fan. I think it's great.
I've done this as well, but one batch which I made where tfa key lime was the main profile needed 5 months in a cupboard to cool off til I could taste anything but cleaning products.
I think the best one I ever made used a ratio of lemon lime, distilled and tfa key lime which I did not write down :/
I'll drop one in here that I think is close enough to share though not perfected. I wanted an in your face lime vape for a while, not a lime pie and not a lime candy, not a 'something with lime'. Just Lime. Not many of these exist, and with good reason; vaping straight up lime is as unsatisfactory as drinking it. Fortunately it didn't need much work to fashion a delicious vape. Disclaimer here that I've totally used all the info and tricks of others who have gone before me for this but can't remember well enough to give due credit.
- TFA Key Lime 1.5%
- FA Lime Tahity (cold pressed) 1.5%
- CAP Sweet Tangerine 1%
- CAP Hibiscus 1%
- TFA Sour 1%
- Add cooling agent of choice at desired % and additional sweetener to taste.
The best limes for the job here need support from the tangerine. I think I stole this form an old pink lemonade recipe but it plays really well, rounding out and providing some sweet against the lime's sour.
Hibiscus gives it juiciness, (stolen from Apexified's marvelous blue frost revisited).
Koolada/Polar/WS-23 on top and you end up with a refreshing but bitey lime slush that is removed from 'pure lime juice' just enough to actually be a grand vape. I'm certainly blitzing through it. Hopefully someone else can enjoy.
I'm actually playing with lemon 'boosters' in here to help deal with the lime fading a little if anyone has good ideas. Tiny amounts of CAP lemon sicily (which is very sweet) and/or INW Lemon (which is very potent) seem to be the best bet so far.
Do you have FA Lime Tahity (Distilled)?
No I don't have that yet. You suspect it'll do a similar enough job to one of the others but without fading? (please say yes)
I suspect you’ll get less fading if you replace that Sour with an equal amount of it. And then with your WS-23 and the way that Distilled Lime will interact with Hibiscus, you’ll basically have a Lime granita vape.
Mojito.
When you get the slight musk of the lime balanced with just the right amount of cool spearmint (I like spearmint over peppermint. I prefer the way it sneaks up on me as opposed to peppermint's "in your face" punch) and toss in a nice, rich, almost caramel-like sweetness of a dark rum flavour, it's like there's a party in my mouth and everyone's invited.
I don't have ratios tho. I keep trying to but I have a hard time getting the balance to be just right. Either I'm being too persnickety (highly likely) or this is just one of those mixes that's down to personal taste (also highly likely.) That and I also add a bit of ethyl-maltol to soften the harsher edges of the flavour and give it the tiniest hint of cotton-candy sweetness.
But for the most part it's key-lime(TPA), dark rum(TPA), caramel(DX-TPA), spearmint(TPA), ethyl-maltol and menthol (both are just crystals dissolved in PG to their saturation point. A little goes a long, long way. So, for a 30ml batch I tend to use only a few drops of each.)
I have been struggling with a lime sweet tea for like 10 iterations. I think Lime Tahiti cold-pressed seems right for the mix, but all the tea flavors I've tried just taste like wet-dog and/or ass. FA sweet tea, black tea and green tea.
Can confirm, FA Green Tea tastes like ass. I didn't know FA made a sweet tea? Did you mean TFA/TPA Sweet, Green, and Black teas?
Try FLV Lemon Tea + Lime Tahiti CP + Sweetener + Coolant.
My bad it's CAP sweet tea, FA Black Tea, FA Green Tea.
I will absolutely check out FLV Lemon Tea. Thanks idiot.
FE Green Tea is amazing, if you're in to matcha of course. I should probably try it out with some lime, as i have the ingredients for it. Have you tried FA Black Tea around 0.3-0.5%? Could go well with some lime there, unless it just tastes like wet dog to you no matter the %.
Oh, one more lime-flavour recipe (though this one is in the early prototype stage so what I have tasted so far has potential but it needs a lot of work.)
Watermelon, Cherry, Lime.
Right now that's all it is. The current batch had the watermelon almost take right over making it taste like a more piquante jolly-rancher/chewy-gummy-rings kinda vibe.
The aim... Is to have the cherry and the lime to work together so their sourness compliments one another... And the watermelon being the counterbalancing sweetness I'd need. The aim is for a sort of punch to it like a kind of "otter-pop-on-a-hot-day" kind of refreshing.
I haven't figured out if I should add other things to it yet. I'm going to wait until I've worked through this bottle before I go back to it (I have too many bottles of half-finished mixes laying around.)
Thinking I could try adding a bit of banana or a softer tasting fruit to maybe mellow it out. Or maybe a marshmallow for the bulk of the sweet and adding only enough watermelon so that the "fresh" taste is present. Also I would need to figure out which kind of cherry would work best. I have a couple different ones and haven't done an official "taste test" of them all yet.
Man, that sounds hard to pull off but very rewarding if you can make it happen. I'm imagining something like a Kiwi-Cherry Starburst.
Yeah. I think I over-steered it in this initial batch by adding too much watermelon, fearing that it would get lost beneath the cherry/lime.
Or maybe I'm just using the wrong kinds (TFA watermelon, btw.)
I just started mixing my own juice and I feel like I’m adding a really high percentage of flavor for what I’m getting out of it. That being said I mostly vape out of smok v8 baby beast sub ohm tank which isn’t ideal for flavor but I’m on the go all day and this is easiest.
However I have made a decent recipe for something along the lines of a peach limeade chilled and would like some feed back on how to make it better
5% cool by nic vape e-flavors 3% dragon fruit by nic vape e-flavors 8% juicy peach by Capella 8% lime by Capella
I have one of those Smok 8 Baby Beast sub ohm tanks. I use it to test commercial recipes to make sure that the average vaper who's not dripping on fancy coils in a flavor RDA can still enjoy it. The X4 coils for that are the better ones for flavor.
Chilled peach limeade definitely sounds a great profile. Can't be of much help with the recipe though, because I have zero experience those two Nic Vape flavors. You already know those %s are high but that's at least twice as much CAP Juicy Peach and CAP Lime as I could stand to vape. They might even be muting out they're so high... If you haven't already, try a small batch of this with all of those flavors cut in half and just see if it isn't better.
I thought I found my favorite lime. Then they reformulated it along with my favorite lemon. Thanks Inawera! Here are a couple of my lime recipes. I fucking love lime.
[A Coconut Mojito] (https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/57254#nilsson_schmilsson_coconut_mojito_by_kindground), a [Key Lime Mojito] (https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/64979#key_lime_mojito_by_kindground) and a [Lemon/Lime Raspberry Candy] (https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/55462#cajolery_a_vapor_in_a_bottle_seduction_clone_by_kindground).
Have you actually tried the INW Lime recently and found it to be ruined? Or did you just hear it was?
Please say no you haven’t verified it so I can go on hoping it isn’t true. I’m not sure I want to live in a world without INW Lime.
I have not verified. I have about 3oz left. My next couple of orders I'll throw in a 10ml to compare.
I did this with the lemon...Bought 10ml bottles from 3 different vendors to compare/verify. The lemon is awful now.
I did it with the Lemon, too. They ruined it. The bastards.
But I talked to someone this morning who is in contact with Inawera and apparently the company said neither Lime nor Grape (in case you’ve heard tale of that one being reformulated as well) has changed. It’s starting to sound like maybe just one vocal person or a couple of vocal people got ahold of a bad, old, mishandled, or mislabeled batch. Citrus flavors are especially volatile, they tend to contain some natural ingredients that don't keep as well as others, as well as alcohol to attempt to get them to stay blended with PG (and not always succeeding), so that isn’t a huge surprise.
Edit: They say they haven't made any reformulations since the first half of 2017.
I shall chime in. Lime has become on my favorite fruit flavors and I get enough satisfaction from INW Lime and FA Florida Key Lime mixed together. 0.25% INW with 0.5% FA I like a lot and used it in Key Lime Candied Pecans. I'm going to try dropping the CAP Butter Pecan and adding CAP Vanilla Custard and CAP Sugar Cookie from Simple Sugar Cookie.
If you like lime, I think INW Lime is a must try. It's sorta like a natural tasting snow cone syrup flavor with a little peel in there. Not too sweet or bitter.
Couple of Limes I enjoy:
FLV - Lime: Fairly strong, in your face lime. It's more candied, close to a cordial lime. I personally don't notice a lot of fading with this one specifically. I would use it where you are looking for a sweeter, more candied lime.
FLV - Lime Wedge: This is a much more natural lime. It's pretty potent and in your face right off the bat. It is prone to fading though. I get a more natural lime, with rind and higher amount of twang.
FA - Lime Tahity (Distilled): This is a rough flavor to play with but I have found a couple of uses for it. Most people are fans of the Cold Pressed, which has a much sweeter, lingering flavor. Distilled on the other hand is very sharp, crisp, twangy. It's drier, not as wet as cold pressed and not as sweet. I found a use to "simulate" carbonation in a few drink recipes though, one of which it works VERY well in.
Used Lime Wedge in Tropico, along with a more natural coconut in a cigar recipe. Coconut and lime is one of the more classic pairings, and faired well in Tropico.
Lime pairs with some fun stuff to mix with: Lemongrass, Blueberry, Mint, Strawberry, Honey, Creams, Coconut, Ginger, and Caramel. So take those as you will, of course thats not a definite list.
> The lime has a tendency to fade. I recommend this to be vaped within a week.
From your description of Tropico, which is still on my dang ol way-too-long to-mix list. Anyway, I have a question. How unspeakable are the acts you would perform to have a flavor just like FLV Lime Wedge but without that ridiculous fading nonsense?
Because the acts I'd perform for that are pretty damned unspeakable.
Any point trying to get this lime?
Any love for FA Aurora. Got a solid review by concrete
So this lime Tahiti cold pressed and cold lime distilled renaming confusing mixup (search this sub for the thread) landed me with a big bottle of the unpopular “harsh” flavor on my first order. What a noob I am.
Distilled has to have a purpose though. I need to just mix all the limes at once for a pure super lime ha
I’ve used Distilled in several recipes. It’s not bad at all if you use it carefully, it’s the kind of harsh that’s pretty easily mitigated.
Hey look it's the jerk that tricked me into buying it by offering up his delicious recipes on ATF using Tahiti cold pressed and me not knowing the difference :P
Awww I missed this thread, too bad! A raspberry lime rickey juice I made has been my ADV since I finalized it at the end of the summer. It went through 18 revisions or so and this is what I came up with.
FA Lime Tahiti - cold pressed - 2% INW Shisha Lime - 1.5% FA Raspberry - 2% TFA Sweet Raspberry - 1.5% FA Lemon Sicily - 0.5% FA Fresh Cream - 1% FA Meringue - 0.5% 70/30 .2mg/ml nic salts
A raspberry lime rickey, if you haven't heard of one, is a chilled drink that is raspberry syrup mixed with lime juice and club soda. I remember it very well from when i was a kid and went on vacation with my parents to Province Town on Cape Cod, it brings me back to then and brings up a bunch of happy memories for myself. So I wanted to translate that into a vape and i wanted to do it right.
The lime base is FA Lime cold pressed because it is the most authentic squeezed LIME flavor that I've found. Mixing that with the INW shisha lime to bring out the sweetness in the drink without overpowering the tart, and because adding raspberry would increase the tartness as well, I wanted a lime to match up with it.
For the raspberry I went with FA Raspberry and TFA Sweet Raspberry. At first I had more sweet raspberry, up at 3% and the FA Raspberry down at 1.5% and found that goooood, but I ran out of sweet raspberry halfway through the 3%, so I slightly increased the FA another .5% to 2% to make sure I still had a good raspberry and it made it better. It's a more authentic raspberry compared to the sweet and it settles into and enhances the lime.
FA Lemon Sicily is in there to glue the raspberry and lime together by enhancing both of then together.
The FA Meringue and Fresh Cream I put in to give it a kind of a sherbet feel to the fruits, and i feel creams tend to soften harsher fruits, which this is full of. The Fresh Cream isn't so noticeable except in reducing the harshness and maybe pulling the meringue into the rest of the mix. The meringue gives it a sweet toasted sugar taste, which isn't unwelcome.
I've made probably 3L of the stuff since competing it in August.

I'm working on a recipe trying to replicate Somersby Elderflower Lime Cider. I'm pretty close except for the lime, I'm waiting to get Lime Tahity Distilled for the mix. If anyone's ever tried the original drink, and knows if there's a better choice for the lime...?
Anyone else find the lack of lime recipes appalling? It's always with cherry or watermelon or strawberry etc.
There's no good ones anywhere. I know they exist because I frequently bought them before I started DIY and enjoyed them.
I’ve had a few good ones. Lime Longing by Shyndo on ATF is one of them. Botboy’s Key Lime pie is another. But I agree there are too few of them. That’s why when I was asked to make a one-shot for Wizard Labs, I went with a lime recipe.
There’d be a lot more good lime recipes if we had a good tequila concentrate!
> good tequila concentrate!
Do you mean 'good' as in 'accurate' or 'good' as in "tastes good"? Because those are mutually exclusive. And how would we get the salt flavor needed? Saline and trace amounts of FA Polar blast?
Some of us think an accurate tequila flavor would taste good... in a mix. Not sure about standalone, that's for people with even more self-loathing than I have.
Dude, just salt the rim of your drip tip like a margarita glass.
I look at you as the tropical fruit guru so I'll try your recommendations.
I just revisited a very popular key lime recipe that sat for a month and a half and it still tastes so fake to me. Maybe because these good ones fade fast.
Mmmmmm.... Tropical fruit, maybe! Lime is not a tropical fruit though. Citrus is hard! It can be harsh, it can fade away completely, it can be difficult to blend and balance with other things. It's so worth it when it's good though.
I take it that you've tried FW Tequila. I tested it at 5, 7, 9 and 12%, settled on 10% in a Tequila Sunrise recipe.
I even tried Prestige Tequila essence, but that was worse.
I actually haven't. Obviously there's no substitute for trying things for yourself, and I would like to try every single flavor there is, but so far I haven't seen or heard anything that made me think FW Tequila needs to high up on my list of things to try, priority-wise.
