Minor Strawberry Discussion
submitted over 7 years ago by Boogenshizzle

Please remember, it's not JUST about throwing a bunch of strawberries together. You still have to understand your flavors and percents needed to accomplish the TYPE of strawberry you are looking for. Each strawberry brings a different aspect of the berry to the table. I use almost all strawberries I can find, but each one is used for the specific accent that it can give to the berry I'm looking for as a whole. From Syrup to Fresh ripe berries, it CAN be done.

a few examples.

Body strawberries: TFA Ripe, FA red touch,

Poppy strawberries: Cap SS, TFA strawberry,

Syrup: Real Flavors SC, Flavor Revolution Sweet Strawberry.

INSANELY bright: Inawera Wild strawberry (somewhere between candy, syrup, bright, just delicious, just NOT by itself).

So do your homework on how the strawberry in YOUR recipe is going to taste and use the strawberries needed to accomplish the taste you want.

Strawberries are delicious but I tend to default back to the TPA Ripe and Normal combo, just tastes amazing.

Full bodied strawberry flavour, delicious.

+1 unless I'm balling and have some shish strawberry you can't go wrong with the ripe and strawberry combo

Hah, my third most used strawberry - you sir, I agree with.

Reddit mixers love the 'Ripe' and i love the smell but thats one i cannot taste under any circumstances and have tried it with everything at many different percentages.

Shisha is the one that everybody should be able to taste , i just got sick of it after awhile .

I like FA's Juicy Strawberry a lot , much more than 'Red Touch' actually and i love Sweet Strawberry by Capella and TFA's regular Strawberry .

Real Flavors Strawberry is good but i don't rate it as highly as many other Reddit people do .

FW Strawberry is so weak but smells good.

Yeah I tend to use a bit of Ripe to 'ripen up' the normal TFA Strawberry - I might be doing it wrong though, going to make a testing batch with a higher Ripe percentage after reading some comments around here.

Going to have to try out FA as well seeing how many people like those.

I wish i was able to taste "Ripe" but it's invisible to me which really sucks.

No need to buy 4 oz or even 30 ml bottle sizes when first sampling flavors , i usually just buy 10 ml and if i like it i get the larger size.

I agree with all of this. And If shisha is the one everyone should be able to taste, FA juicy is apparently a close second.

Well Shisha is the one strawberry that everybody seems to be able to taste and it's a very very tasty strawberry there's no doubt about it.

I just have a habit of going a little nuts when i find something i really like and then overdo it until i eventually get sick of it.

Thats what happened to me with the Shisha strawberry but it's still a must have flavor.

What ratio do you recommend? Tfa strawberry has a medicine taste whenever I use it with ripe?

2 points

by Ravunoover 7 years ago

I tend to use between 5-7% of them in total - like 5% strawberry and 3% ripe so basically 2:1 haven’t tasted any medicine myself so might just be you not getting along with it like me with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

Awesome I'll give it a try :)

Also, you don't like vbic? By cap? Do you also not like Bavarian cream as well? Hey both have this particular flavour to them has has literally made me gag. I thought I was alone!

Try

Ripe. %1.5

Strawberry. %3.5

But what really blows it out of the water is to add %1 TFA Dragonfruit. It fills out the strawberry and makes it pop.

I've actually just seen this recently but since you specifically have told me to do it I'm definitely going to have to try it now! Literally had TFA Dragonfruit arrive yesterday!!

For the strawberry vapes i make for myself, i almost always use this combo

  • TFA Ripe 2%

  • JF Sweet Strawberry 3-3.75%

  • INW Shisha Strawberry 0.75%

I have big problems tasting strawberry but this magic combo i can taste. Numbers are probably high for a lot of people, but it makes me able to taste it, so yeah, that's that.

It's by no means a authentic strawberry, but very very much a candy strawberry, and if i turn up the INW Shisha Strawberry a little bit, for certain recipes, it becomes very syruppy. For the syrup application i usually lower the JF Sweet Strawberry to between 2-3%. It sucks not being able to taste all the other strawberries, because they smell so good too me. Not that these doesnt, would just be nice with a wider array of strawberry flavors for me.

I've still to try SC Strawberry - i have it in my arsenal but i keep forgetting about it. Might be something i should look into over the weekend.

This is great. Do you have any favourite strawberry combos?

Any other flavours that you could share your experiences with?

It really depends. But I usually like to include one body berry and one pop berry. if it still needs more body, black currant or forest fruit work quite well.

Have you checked the Flavor Notes on side bar? NOt sure but think I saw several suggestions on combos. Or, Wayne has a Strawberry Video, as does Fresh03 I think. Helped me alot, until I realized I cant taste Strawberry after first hit. JF Strawberry on the way, last chance.

Second to last chance. There's always the last one hiding in the background that people avoid because of the price. Medicine Flower Strawberry.

Thanks for the tips. Sucks that you can't taste strawberry. Have you tried adding dragonfruit?

Probably need to follow your own advice and let people know this is your personal taste. Because if most people are looking for something bright and candy/syrup, then INW Wild Strawberry is definitely not the go to. Unless, ya know, you like sugar free strawberry jam that had about a pound of dirt mixed into it :)

Which is why i recommend it with other berries and no more than .2%

Might wanna think about adding that into your original post there, bud. Unless you're just filling a quota, instead of actually making quality posts for the community :)

Also worth noting there's two very different Inawera wild strawberry flavors:
