Weekly 'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of January 26, 2018
submitted over 7 years ago by AutoModerator

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! Don't forget to include manufacturers' names for all of your concentrates, and make your list easier to read by using bullet points or at least listing each of your flavors on a new line by hitting return twice after each flavor.

Impatient and want to do this on your own? /u/daath has a nice website that has this functionality, but you will need to register to make it work. It is not very intuitive but if you work with it you can input your flavors and get a list of recipes that you can make. To get this to work, first set up an account. Then add your flavors to the stash (under my page / my flavor stash). Hit save. Then go back to the front page and click the link next to the search field, "Search by flavor stash." You can select a couple of your flavors and recipes that have those will pop up.

Happy Mixing!

Hey, just getting started with DIY, went through the popular flavors recommended in the side bar and got a bunch of them. Still haven't found many recipes yet, just seems like there are tons of options. I'm really curious which of these flavors are also great as single flavors.

> I'm really curious which of these flavors are also great as single flavors.

Fuji Apple 3% is a pretty good standalone flavor, probably the best one you have. You might or might not like 2.5% Forest Fruit as well. Ditto for 6% CAP Sugar Cookie, though mixing something else with it would be better. Other than testing them out to see how they taste before mixing them into your own original recipe or tweaking others' recipes - which is absolutely something you should do - I don't think I'd recommend any of these as a good single-flavor vape.

Did you try any of these recipes yet?

Mother of Dragons' Milk

Simple Sugar Cookie

Coop's Kiwi Cheesecake

Strawberry Cookie

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely be testing them. And I had 2 of those recipes bookmarked but the other two look good as well so I'll definitely be giving them a shot once the concentrates arrive. One last question if you don't mind. I generally have to buy concentrates in bulk coz of my location (it's minimum $13 intl shipping whether I buy 1 concentrate or about 20) so I'm always willing to give different concentrates a shot. Could you recommend great single flavor concentrates I should consider?

1 points

by ID10-Tover 7 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Great single-flavor concentrates are going to vary depending on what you're into. So I need more information to really do that well. But just based on what you've already got, I think these are probably worth looking into:

INW Shisha Strawberry

INW Dragonfruit

CAP 27 Bears

INW Peach

CAP Harvest Berry

FLV Lemonade

FLV Pink Guava

FLV Mango

I hope INW and FLV are available to you. If not, I'll try to think of some more TFA/CAP/FA flavors for you.

Good gods, man or woman! How did you wind up with some of the grossest flavors available?

I recommend pairing each of these with a trash can, or some juice you're mixing for your worst enemy:

  • Cheesecake (TPA)
  • Cookie Butter (FW)
  • DX Sweet Cream (TPA)

It looks like you really want to vape some grape, so try:

5% TFA Grape Juice + 2% TFA Champagne + 1% TFA Grape Candy + 1% FW Grape Soda

You might also enjoy this cookie:

6% CAP Sugar Cookie + 2% TFA Vanilla Custard + 2% LA Vanilla Butternut + 2% TFA Bavarian Cream

2 points

by POTUSPutinover 7 years ago

LOL. Thanks for the advice. As far as how did I wind up with those, it was in my efforts to clone a couple juices. I wanted a blueberry cheesecake juice and cookie butter juice. The cheesecake works with nothing, it is indeed terrible.

Cookie Butter and Sweet Cream worked alright like this: Cookie Butter (FW) 6% + Sugar Cookie (CAP) 3% + Sweet Cream (TPA) 2%

I will try your suggest for the others. Thanks

3 points

by juthincover 7 years ago

Well, if you ever want to clone a foot cheese flavored juice, the TFA cheesecake will be useful. And I think the DX flavors get a bad rap just because they need to steep for six months. If ever I wanted to use a flavor available as a DX I'd probably just get the original, tho...

Don't have starting percentages memorized, but... Grape Soda+Citrus Punch+Champagne would be a good start. If you had Koolada and/or WS-23 those would be a good addition.

4% LA Lemonade
1% FA Lemon Sicily
2% Koolada
.5% WS-23
...to which any number of fruits can be added. 2% INW Grapes, or .2% FA Black Cherry, or 2% Raspberry Sweet, or...

I can't stand vanilla or strawberries, and I don't vape bakeries. Sorry. I believe you have the ingredients for 'Mustard Milk'. You might enjoy that one. note: just checked, looks like you'd need to substitute.... checking references... for 6% TFA Strawberry, try 2% Shisha Strawberry and 1% Strawberry Juicy

Try 3% Shisha Strawberry + 1% Juicy Strawberry + 2% Sweet Cream + 2% Bavarian Cream + 0.5% Meringue for a strawberry milk

and 2.5% Shisha Strawberry + 1% Juicy Strawberry + 4% Sugar Cookie + 1.5% Vanilla Whipped Cream + 0.75% Meringue + 0.25% Biscuit for a cookie with strawberry frosting.

You need INW Cactus. INW Grapes would be good. Koolada and WS-23 would be really good to have. Menthol would come in handy. Now, that aside... 5he Black Cherry and Lime Tahity should go well together. Mix in some LA Lemonade (and, if/when you get them, some cooling agents) and you should enjoy. You could also make a raspberry lemonade (which would also be better with cooling).

2 points

by kemikal1over 7 years ago

Thanks, I have ordered all of your suggestions. I will make the black cherry and line lemonade, sounds delicious. I imagine the cooling agents just enhance my lemonades/colas/ice creams?

What could I use INW Cactus and Grapes for?

3 points

by juthincover 7 years ago

Cactus at low percentages gives a wet/juicy feel. So in any fruit beverage mix it can be useful. INW Grapes mixes nicely with lemonade. It also can make a great straight up purple flavored Mr Freeze (or popsicle) if you get the cooling right.

And yes, cooling works best with fruits, beverages, and frozen treat flavors - or rather those flavors work best if they're experienced as cold.

Have you tried God's milk? It's a really good simple recipe. I like to add 1 drop of cap super sweet per 10mL.

2 points

by kemikal1over 7 years ago

I have tried it before and liked it. Thanks for reminding me, I will make up another batch! Can I use a bit of TFA sweetener to a similar effect?

2 points

by penatbaterover 7 years ago

I actually think that'd be better. Idk the percentages but I think maybe 1% tfa sweetener could be good. I noticed when I used cap super sweet the strawberry popped up more so it didn't really have that nice blend. I still liked it tho. Will try with 1% sweetener on my next batches. Let me know how it goes!

  • Banana Cream (LA)
  • Bavarian Cream (TPA)
  • Cheesecake (Graham Crust) (TPA)
  • Dragonfruit (TPA)
  • Papaya (TPA)
  • Pomegranate (FA)
  • Strawberry (Ripe) (TPA)
  • Strawberry (TPA)
  • Sweet Tangerine (Cap)
  • Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TPA)

I've made Mustard Milk, God Milk, In a Godda Da Vida, Nana Cream. Wasn't very keen on Godda Da Vida because seems a bit harsh, maybe some cream/banana cream would go well in it?

All I can find to make with these flavours are variations of the ones I've already made.

3 points

by ID10-Tover 7 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

I'm was just vaping a version of In a Godda Da Vida (which I love) with creams added to it yesterday. I can't say I recommend doing that, because the FA Pomegranate got a little weird with the cream. It's a work in progress. And if you thought Godda was harsh, /u/juthinc might be trying to kill you with 4% CAP Sweet Tangerine.

You can definitely make a delicious Papaya/Tangerine Cream though. Try:

  • 2.5% TFA Papaya
  • 1% CAP Sweet Tangerine
  • 4% TFA VBIC
  • 2% TFA Bavarian Cream
3 points

by juthincover 7 years ago

I thought maybe the Papaya was his problem... (it's not a flavor I would use, so had to guess why he was having a problem with that recipe.)

4 points

by ID10-Tover 7 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

It could be. I am not saying you're wrong. Different people have different odd sensitivities. But when people complain about harsh and there's citrus flavor involved, it's almost always the citrus. Unless there's also peach or passionfruit or pineapple or other known offenders. I've not seen any complaints about Papaya harshness ever. The trouble with that one is that it's really strong for a TFA flavor and will overtake a recipe. And also if you spill a drop of it on anything, Papaya-scented whatever for weeks.

2 points

by juthincover 7 years ago

Try:
4% CAP Sweet Tangerine
3% TFA dragonfruit
1% FA Pomegranate

3 points

by garamasalaover 7 years ago

I just made up some of this and it's not bad at all, definitely a keeper. I think, as /u/ID10-T was saying though, it could be the tangerine that's causing the harshness, I'm getting a similar thing with this one.

Hello Reddit!

Would love some nice suggestions for my flavors below. I've already made ID10-T's famous 'Mother Of God's Milk' and 'Simple Sugar Cookie' which I found great.

Any other recipes I can make will definitely be tried and appricated!

INW Banana - TPA Bavarian Cream - INW Blackcurrant - INW Caramel - INW Coconut - TPA Dragonfruit - INW Peach - TPA Strawberry - INW Strawberry - TPA Strawberry (ripe) - CAP Sugar Cookie - INW Two Apples - CAP Vanilla Custard - TPA Vanilla Swirl

I am also planning on placing a new order on flavors pretty soon, so if you have anything great in mind that needs one or two extra flavors I would gladly hear those as well.

Thank you in advance!

You already have everything you need to make this: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/6851#mother_of_dragons_milk_by_id10_t

Have some fun with the simple sugar cookie recipe.

Add 1.5% INW Coconut to it and make a coconut cookie.

Add 1.75% INW Peach to it to make a peach cookie.

Add 3% TFA Strawberry Ripe + 2% TFA Strawberry, reduce the Sugar Cookie to 7% and the Custard to 3%, and have a strawberry cookie.

Add 2% INW Two Apples to it and make an apple cookie.

As for what to order next?

You only need the TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust for this: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/15504#god_milk_by_skiddlzninja

Thanks a bunch!

Is there a big difference between your 'Mother of Dragons Milk' and your 'Mother of God's Milk' if I may ask? I've tried the latter one before but will mix a batch of the first one now as well.

Still pretty new into the DIY area so have not been experimenting much yet, but I will definitely try out the cookie recipes you suggested.

Seems simple to just add an extra flavor like this, but I have no clue how to come up with the percentages to add in. I assume this is mostly trial and error though, so better get mixing!

2 points

by ID10-Tover 7 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

There's a big enough difference that I call one a Dragonfruit+ recipe and the other a "Dragon-berry Cream" recipe. The strawberry affects the Mother of Dragons' Mlk but you don't really taste it as a strawberry. The Mother of God's Milk is a much more berry-forward thing. But, they're pretty similar.

One part trial and error experience, one part looking at what others have done. Hope you enjoy most of those! You're bound to not love all of them - such is the nature of taste - but that's why you don't make a big batch of anything until you know you like it.

Hi all! My friend and I just picked up supplies to start mixing (we're trying to cut back on personal expenses and ideally make a few bucks on it if we can nail down something solid) and the flavors we got to start with are •TFA Green Tea •TFA Strawberry •FA Rose And ideally we'd like to end up with a sort of strawberry blush tea. If the green tea flavor is up to scratch, I was also thinking about picking up some honey and menthol flavoring to make an Arizona green tea clone. What are your all's thoughts?

2 points

by ID10-Tover 7 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

TFA Green Tea tastes like lawn clippings more than it tastes like tea, to me. But you might like it. I would go heavy on the strawberry and light on the Green Tea and Rose so you get hints of those but hopefully not gross off-notes.

Something like 8% Strawberry, 1.75% Green Tea, 0.75% FA Rose.

2 points

by GoodKingHamletover 7 years ago

Awesome dude, thanks! Is there a better green tea in your opinion?

2 points

by Orwelian84over 7 years agoPâtissier

I've found that if you make a 10% dilution of the Green Tea from TFA it actually becomes useable in the 2-4% range, especially with a touch of TFA Honeysuckle, .5-2% range. It's never actually Green tea but it stops being lawn clippings. Stay away from TFA Honey, even at a 1% dilution it is just god awful.

1 points

by ID10-Tover 7 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

I very much prefer FE Green Tea, but it's a little too floral, causing some folks to even like it less that TFA Green Tea. Whatever you do, don't get FA Green Tea, it is satan's asshole in a bottle.

Also please join me in crossing your fingers, praying, tossing virgins into volcanoes, sending out positive vibes into the universe, or whatever it is you do... FLV is soon coming out with half a dozen new flavors, all tea flavors....

I just mixed up NR Ocean Myst at 10% with 2% TFA sweetener, it's not bad, much better than anything I got with Cap Concord Grape or TFA Grape Soda, but it's still WAY off any of the commercial grape juices I've bought.

I've bought at least 10 different Malaysian grape ejuices and every single one has been absolutely fantastic, I just run through the juice so fast.

I also picked up INW Grape and FW Grape Soda, I will mix up some single flavor of these a little later but any ideas on how to use these to make something really tasty? I heard such great things about Ocean Myst that I'm a little disillusioned right now haha. (I live in Vietnam so I've been waiting a while and had to pay a hefty shipping sum to get it out here).

Name the flavor I need and I will buy it! Should I try adding a touch of something like Harvest Berry or TFA dragonfruit, or do you think I need to stick with grape combos? How in the world are all these commercial grape juices so damn good?

Edit: I mixed INW Grapes at 4% and I taste something funky, added 1.5% sweetener and it's still funky. Just some background harshness.
