As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.

I’m enjoying this dead simple, yet satisfying mix right now.

TFA Vanilla Swirl @ 2 %
Satisfies those dirty Lemon thoughts I get sometimes.
I love the combination of Lemon and Vanilla!
Lemon cough drop
1% FA Lemon Sicily
1.5% INW eucalyptus with mint
Perfect shake and vape for those days when you can't taste anything or breathe.
Now this is a thread I can sink my teeth into.
I've got nearly every lemon concentrate on the market but the elusive sharp candy "tang" that I'm after always seems to evade me and my lemons end up either A. "Soft"/"wet", B. Pledge/perfumey floor cleaner
When I say tang, if anyone has tried Cereal Fiend from TBD liquids or the lemon note in Looper you'll know what I mean.
Can the mix gods chime in here?
The closest I've achieved to the desired result has been a combo of Cap LMP v1 + Cap Lemon Lime + FE Lemon (although this last one has a bit of a bitter rind note I'm not keen on).
INW lemon is incredibly potent and a great lemon, but it's not the zippy candy/sherbet sweet lemon I'm after.
A bit of FA Cold Pressed Lime sharpens up any lemon, and gives it some "zing". 0.5% is when I think the actual flavour of lime starts to come through, so I keep it under that. For the sherbety, bulldog chewing a wasp vibe, try some citric acid. I haven't used it in a long time so I can't give you figures, but it's a "dissolve in PG then mix with it" jobby.
I'd try mixing INW Lemon Mix and maybe LA Lemonade with maybe .05% FA Bergamot and some sweetener. That sounds like it'd get into tangy lemon candy territory. Or maybe a Marzipan instead of actual sweetener.
Basically, don't count on one lemon flavor to do it all. Other flavors can modify it.
How do you find INW Lemon? Better for fruity mixes or bakery stuff?
I've ended up with some but haven't had a chance to use it yet.
INW Lemon is fantastic - rate it highly. The only con I have is that it does fade a little over time. I want to see how it pairs with FA Lemon Sicily, but i haven't got FA LS yet. It seems to go well in almost everything - bakeries, creams, lemonades etc. And the INW Lime is insane, so juicy and realistic.
> When I say tang
This part made me think of Purilum Golden Pineapple. It tastes like tangy pineapple juice. I wonder if you could use a low percentage of a pineapple concentrate to get that tangy flavor you search for. I wish I could be of more help but, I am still a novice mixer.
Capella Juicy Lemon - tastes like lemon juice to me. tastes nice in beverages. 1-2% for me
Capella Lemon Sicily- this is one of my go to lemons for bakery. It's more subtle than other lemon variants. 1-2%
FE Lemon - this is probably my favorite lemon if you're looking for something w/ a punch. (lemonade, candy, etc) it's bright and in your face but not bitter IMO. 0.50-2%
CAP Lemon Meringue Pie - nice bakery lemon, very versatile in pie, crumble or other pastry recipes. the pie note isn't prominent IMO and it has a slight sweetness built in which is nice. key component in "Lemon tart" mixtures. 1-3%
LA Lemonade - tastes like a straight up Lemon head to me... I don't get lemonade from it but it's still nice. 3-5%

On my never-ending quest to clone Poseidon's Punch i happened to try a lot of lemon-y flavours:
TPA Lemon - bitter, sour, lots of throat hit, move on, nothing to see here
FA Citrus Mix - similar sour as TPA Lemon, but less throat hit
FA Lemon Silicy - Nice lemon, fruity, not sour at all, the go-to lemon flavour
CAP Lemon Lime - Peel, but works pretty nice in Lemonade/Gatorade recipes, pairs nicely with FA Lemon Silicy and INW Eucalyptus
TPA Lemon Lime - Less peel, but more lime than lemon.
TPA Citrus Punch - More Lemonade than Lemon, there's a reason it has the Mt.Dew nickname
Some crazy but great recipes I liked in the past were Halloween Ghoul Aid and 7up (there used to be another version). LA Lemonade & CAP Lemon Lime really shine in Darkly Currant Lemonade, while FA Lemon Silicy goes really well in creams like in Dude... where's my lemons. Together, LA Lemonade and FA Lemon Silicy are amazing in the Best Damn Pink Lemonade.
To battle a cold, I usually go for:
- INW Eucalyptus & Mint @ 1.5%
- FW Pink Lemonade @ 2%
- FA Lemon Silicy @ 3%
- CAP Lemon Lime @ 3%
- CAP Super Sweet @ 1.5%
- TPA Koolada10 PG @ 1%
Yes that's strong, and yes, it helps.
That's what I have for lemon, don't get me started on tangerine, lime, lemonades and pineapples...
> get me started on tangerine, lime, lemonades
Wait... lemonades is TOTALLY on topic here. I do lots of lemonades... what have you got? (And do you know a good red grapefruit flavor to use in a lemonade? And which cranberry goes best in a lemonade? And which would do better in a lemonade mix - Orange Gin or Red Gin or OMGin?)
Technically, Lemonade is scheduled for FOTW in 30 weeks ;-P
My favorites in that category are LA Lemonade as a general purpose lemonade layer, TPA Citrus Punch and FW Ecto Cooler (without the layer that separates if you let it sit, i suspect that's what makes people cough in Poseidon's Punch) for Kool-aid-related "lemonades".
FW Pink Lemonade and CAP Pink Lemonade are two completely different flavours, FW being sweet, bitter and grapefruity (like the cloudy Gatorade?) and CAP much sweeter and almost reminiscent of TPA Dragonfruit (slightly)
Just want to add that if you use ELR, CAP Lemon Lime gravity is wrong. Learned that after mixing it with cheesecake.
Really only messed with lemon once. It was kind of a failed recipe that I was frantically trying to get done for /r/mixersclub when we did the abstract mixing thing. It was Lemon Meringue Pi(p)e. It probably could have been better if I went with a more dessert style of tobacco, but I have a nasty habit of trying fruits with more ashy authentic tobaccos. Maybe I’m just gross. Probably. Just for shits and giggles, Here was the last version I tried:
- INW Biscuit- .5%
- INW Custard- .5%
- TFA Graham Cracker Clear- .75%
- FA Meringue- .75%
- FA Lemon Sicily- 1.75%
- INW Black for Pipe- 1.5%
- FLV Kentucky Blend- 1%
- FLV Oriental Blend- 1.25%
Probably don’t mix this. I’ll have to look for the 10 ml when I get home and give it a try. But I am going to guess it still isn’t good.
You're a sick man. I wouldn't be adverse to trying some kind of lemon meringue tobacco. I'm vaping a mix with Kentucky Blend in it right this moment and can see that working, but the Black for Pipe and Oriental Blend are a bit scary. Maybe Vanilla for Pipe instead?
I believe I tried it out first with Tatanka and Cured, but I didn’t seem to save a batch for that one. That probably would have been a bit better, but I think Vanilla for Pipe and maybe something a bit sweeter like FE Captain would probably be best. My main problem with it was probably the lemon though. I don’t think I want to vape lemon.
You just wait until that cucumber melon tobacco :)
This recipe made me fall in love with CAP Lemon Meringue Pie all over again-

I’ve never had the juice it’s trying to clone, but it must be pretty tasty. I subbed LA key lime and CAP LMPV1, coz reasons.
Sort of on topic:
Does anyone know of a sub for FE Lemon, or a place to buy it in the UK? I tend to try and get all of the flavours I need in one go, so I mainly use chefsflavours.co.uk but they don't seem to stock any FE flavours.
It's for this recipe, if that makes any difference.
Thanks :)
I don't know why Chef's has rebranded Flavor Express to Xpress Flavors but it's the same stuff. In fact, it's probably the exact same place the creator of that recipe got his.

Funny, i had quite a coincidence with 30 Rock and lemon. A friend of mine came over just after i had finished mixing your Real Lemonade recipe and as i built a new coil he asked if i wanted to watch 30 Rock. I said ive never seen it, so we watched it all night all while vaping your delicious lemon recipe. The two made for a great night, and what a great show too. Sorry i have nothing valuable about lemon to add, just a story haha. Your Real Lemonade recipe is still one of my favorites though.
I'm having trouble getting a good lemon flavor that won't completely fade over the course of a month. Preferably something like a lemonadey lemon. Anybody have opinions on a lemon that won't completely fade out? FA Lemon Sicily and LA Lemonade seem to fade a bit, LA not as bad, but I just want some others that can work for a long term solution.
Can anybody point me toward a good tasting sherbet lemon recipe? I'm new to this and would love to make some but I've looked and I can't seem to find any recipes that are recommended. Thanks!!!
Lemon Sherbet... haven't seen one, so would have to develop one. So first off its gonna need to be ice cold (because otherwise it's melted) so there's gotta be WS-23 and Koolada. And you need lemons, so INW Lemon with a bit of INW Lemon Mix to make it that bit more vibrant. A tiny bit of INW Cactus to juice it up a bit, a touch of MTS Wizard (or a marshmallow, maybe) to thicken it up and you should be there. It may take a few versions to get the balance right. That's normal.

Am I the only one who finds FA Lemon Sicily tastes like Lemon Pledge until it's steeped a day or so?
