Need help adapting a recipe I have.
Hey, I wasn't sure wether to create a new thread so I figured I'd try here first.
I want to change a recipe that I made for a 30/70 PG/VG ration to a 50/50 but I don't want to screw up on the flavour.
6% Red Touch (FA)
6% Fuji Apple (FA)
3% Custard (FA)
2% Sweet Mango (CAP)
Anyone have any idea on how to change the percentage of my flavours so it won't taste too much? I know that a higher PG will mean more flavour and I haven't really mixed several flavours in 50/50
Edit: Formating
Those are some high FA %s
I'd try
Red touch 2%
Fuji 2%
Custard 1%
Cap sweet Mango 1% (I'd use FLV mango)
I'm trying RT and Fuji at 3%, custard at 1.5% and mango at 1%.
I don't know why my flavour total was so high really. I just tried it and it has been my favorite since I started mixing. Hopefully it'll turn out good. I usually let it steep for a month before I vape it but I made a small 30ml sample to see how it works before I make a liter of it.
Thank you!
In my excitement to make my first mix, I made a small error.... My order arrived from Nic River today, I ripped everything open, opened ejuice me up, and began mixing. Halfway through, I went to reach for the PG and realized, I ordered 2 VGs and no PG! CRAP!
The original recipe calls for a 30/70 PG/VG mix. As my flavors are PG, a good portion of the PG is covered by those, I played with the calculator a bit and found that if I go to a 17/83 PG/VG mix, I can pretty much eliminate the use of PG because the calc shows I will need .42 grams to hit the 17/83 mix.
Recipe:
TPA Kentucky Bourbon 2%
FA Kiwi 4%
TPA Toasted Marshmallow 2%
I found this PG on Amazon, anything I should be weary of? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005PZBRUC/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A141PUQOHOVW2V&psc=1
Long explanation short, can I just fill the rest of my bottle with VG and it not be horrible??
It won't be that far off, just a little more muted. Add a few extra days steep time.
Thanks, I went ahead and mixed it with the VG. It's not bad, but flavor isn't as bold like you stated. Then again, that could have been the way it was intended... there wasn't a really high % of any flavor in the recipe.
Yes. In fact it will be (to some) much better. I mostly don't use PG... and when I make a recipe with a very low percentage of flavor I'll generally add some PDO to thin it.
Thanks, it's not bad, but definitely would like the flavor to be more pronounced... steeping could be the answer to that.
New to mixing nicotine, used to do 0mg ejuice. 1 stupid question. If i buy lets say a 70/30 base 6mg nicotine do i need to add it in another vg-pg mix because its pure nicotine or is it already mixed in with vg-pg and i can just add flavoring and be done with it?
Well it's not pure nicotine, it's 70/30 VG/PG with 6mg/ml of nicotine. However, when you add your PG-based flavors it will screw up your 70/30 AND your 6mg/ml ratios - depending on how much flavoring you use in a given recipe you'd end up with different ratios in every mix. Something funky like 62/38 @ 5.4mg/ml. You would need to add additional VG just to get back up to 70/30, and you'd never get back to 6mg/ml without an additional, more highly concentrated nic. Since you would then have to buy 100% VG and nic to add, it would defeat the whole "easy-to-mix" purpose of what you're trying to do here.
Also, using 70/30 6mg/ml nic as your base is not going to be cost effective - for example 1L of 70/30 6mg/ml base costs 3x as much as 1L of 70/30 0mg/ml base. You're going to go through it ridiculously fast.
You're far better off buying 100% PG nic (easier to mix because it's not as viscous) at a much higher concentration - like 48mg/ml, then buying 100% VG and 100% PG and mixing using a DIY calculator (found in the sidebar).
Oh, I understand the concept now. I’ll probably buy some high concentration PG based nicotine then, its a lot easier the way you explained it. Thank you so much for taking your time to write this!
Actually, there is a way to do things to get a reliable nic level... When mixing, first weigh out your flavors assuming a set size mix, say 30ml. There's no way you should have 10ml worth of flavors, so after the flavors are weighed out, add pure VG to bring you to 10ml. To this, add 20ml of the mix. Now the result will always be 4mg/ml. The PG ratio will usually be on the high side. Not much can be done about that. Now, if you don't have the premixed already, don't buy it, it's obviously gonna be a pain to use. But if you have it, that's a way to not let it go to waste.
How do you add “juiciness” to your juice. There’s some brands out there like HUNGR that just melt in my mouth and feel really wet. Is it sweetener?
CAP Cucumber 0.5%
To add a waxiness (like Starburst) 0.6% FA Mandarin
What about adding a fizz taste for making a soda/slushee. I’d figure it would be impossible for a vape. Would adding a little something sour to stimulate the tongue achieve a fizz effect?
It depends in what you're looking for. Champagne is good to give body to some cocktails. In other hand, pear, cactus, dragon fruit, apricot (and a few others) work really well with apples. Its a matter of searching for what good diy'ers are using and try it yourself. With time and experience (and money lol) you will get there.
Is flavorah pound cake good? Would it make a decent yellow cake sub? Or just pound cake?
I have a simple question that got me confused when watching a video on making your own e-liquid. I want to make a grape flavour but the flavour it's self is what I'm confused with do I buy flavour that is 100% flavour or does there no such thing for example my grape flavour I have is 70vg/30pg do I use this to make the flavour I know stupid question but I'm confused so please if any one can help me

Anyone got a good pixie stick recipe?
-
Also, I've been mixing bust-a-nut from e-liquid-recipes.com, anyone got a way to make it better? switching, adding flavors, etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't pixie Stix just sugar with a bit of citric acid? There's a sweetener that's supposed to taste exactly like sugar (called 'Sugar Daddy' IIRC) so a tiny bit of lemon Sicily and a bunch of that...
Pixie sticks also have flavors-kinda like sweettarts do. Grape, cherry, orange, and few others. I've always thought they were basically powdered sweettarts. I got some of the Sugar Daddy sweeteners-the regular and the vanilla one. They don't have that after taste like sucralose does, and they pretty much taste like sugar. But to use enough to make a pixie stick recipe-I don't think that would work. IMO--YMMV!
OK, I'll give you what I have come up with. It's pretty good, but for me it's not quite all the way there. 5% pixie stick WF 4% Sweet n Tart TFA 3% Grape Juice TFA 3% Grape Soda FW 1% Marshmallow TFA One drop sweetener per 10ml -if you like that sorta thing
Edit: I'm not sure how to make this line up neatly like y'all do it!
> 5% pixie stick WF 4% Sweet n Tart TFA 3% Grape Juice TFA 3% Grape Soda TFA 1% Marshmallow TFA
5% WF Pixie Stick
4% TFA Sweet n Tart
3% TFA Grape Juice
3% FW Grape Soda
1% TFA Marshmallow
Like that?
BTW, 2-3% INW Grapes would probably go a long way to replace those last three, I'm guessing.
Oh, and to do a list: after each ingredient, two spaces and then a new line.
I have used the inw grapes and you are right-you can use that instead. The only reason I went with the others is that fw grape soda has a candy-like taste to it that I think adds to t.he pixie stick. Thank you for the info on how to format my recipe-I had no idea how to do that! Yep-I'm still a newbie lol. And the grape soda is by fw, so I better go edit that.
Anyone here experienced with molin berry? They are the only aromas I can easily get my hands on so are they any good?
If you've heard of Chemnovatic, this is the same Polish company. I've tried 20 or so of them, it's one of the most underrated brands IMO. I have yet to find one I didn't like, although the tobaccos are very weak. Where they really shine is fruits and berries, their "sharp blackcurrant" is a perfect 10. That said, I wouldn't want to stick with just this brand, but it's not a bad place to start.
Having trouble finding a good spot for this question and so gonna shoot it out there and hope someone sees it and can help me 🤦🏻♀️. sorry I’m a fucking noob.
I use a Reuleaux 2/3 with a Smok TFV8 and V8-Q4 coils. I’m not a total noob with vaping but definitely still learning! When I look online I see my coil is rated at 0.15 ohms but was looking at the following chart for best temps to vape my CBD and it’s not even showing me my ohms on this table. https://i.imgur.com/7mdf2p7.jpg. I’m about as frazzled as a three legged cat trying to bury a turd in a frozen pond. It ain’t pretty 😆
I’m asking because I see mixed messages about best vaping wattage and such. My wattage and voltage don’t correlate like anything I’ve been able to find. See, they’re saying to go way lower wattage than my coil allows and expect anything to come out but the voltage when put into my Reuleaux actually comes out to 76w when I vape at what I had seen of 3.5 volts.
Sorry for all the questions and rambling. I just want to make the most of my CBD because it isn’t cheap. TYSM in advance!
I think you would probably find more of this kind of information at /r/electronic_cigarette. This one is about diy ejuice. Good luck!

As far as I know, people using CBD juice should be using rebuildables. Your coils have a wattage range listed on them. I am not sure why you are asking that question. You are going to get the same answer if you post this in ECR. Do not use those coils in TC mode. They are kanthal coils. Disregard voltage. It’s irrelevant to your question.
On the coil there's a Best at wattage range, start at that minimum and go up until you find your sweet spot
Hey there,
I'm having trouble finding a good receipe for my taste: I've scrolled about 20 Pages on ATF, but there are mostly cookie, cream or such receipes. I'm looking for a fresh Liquid (if possible without mint), that taste like a fresh juice spritzer (or is "schorle" a more common word for that? I don't know the translation from german xD). Is it possible to build a base "spritzer" juice and add, for example, mango flavor to get a mango-juice-spritzer liquid? So I would be able to allways change my flavor and allways have a fresh base liquid where I just have to add my current taste (for ex. strawberry, apple, or what else).
Also, if possible, it shouldn't have to many flavors. 4-5 Flavors per batch is ok, but to much issn't really fun to mix up xD
You won’t be pulling a carbonated flavor into your mix. You could try FW Pink Champagne but you more than likely won’t notice the effect you want.
You can use small amounts of INW Cactus for the juiciness or wetness factor.
I don't exactly want this carbonated flavor, but something that comes close to the freshness :)
Just received jungle juices "honey peach" and wonder flavours "stickly caramel cinabun" as freebies in my order. Never heard of either so wondering if any of you fine humans can comment on these?
I love JF Honey Peach.
Do you have INW Peach?
I recently made my first order for supplies from Wizard Labs. I decided to go with one shot concentrates made by TFW.
I have made a few batches and the juice does not seem to be wicking properly. For example, I used to vape juices that were a 70/30 vg/pg blend. They would wick up with no problem in my Kylin RTA. I have used this tank with probably 20 different premixed juices and never had this problem.
When I make a juice with 70/30 vg/pg it does not wick up. It does, but way slower than it should. I have also let others use my juice and they have the same problem. Even the 50/50 batch I made wicks slower than premixed juices I used to buy at 70/30.
I am honestly stumped on why this could be happening. On Wizard Labs website, it does not give a vg/pg ratio for these one shots. They are said to only have PG as an ingredient. I assumed that mean't they are PG base. Which is what I set the flavor to on the Mix eJuice online calculator.
I have a feeling there is something that I am missing, but I just have no idea. I have searched this sub for people with similar issues, but have not found anything. If anyone has any idea what could be causing this, I would greatly appreciate your help.
Also wanted to add in that I am mixing with syringes, not weight.
Are you sure you are adding the correct amount of VG and PG?
Yes. I use an online calculator to figure out how much to add. I am going to try making a flavorless juice to see if the flavor is causing it.
Have you ever heard of one shot flavorings causing this?
New to DIY and have only mixed a few recipes but I'm looking for a good ice cream base. These are the flavors I have so far. VBIC by CAP is good on it's own but I want more richness and flavor. Thank you :)
1 × Bavarian Cream-LA
1 × Cheesecake (Graham Crust)-TFA
1 × Vanilla Custard-Cap
1 × Vanilla Custard V2-Cap
1 x Vieena cream
1 × Vanilla Bean Ice Cream-Cap
1 × Sweet Cream-Cap
1 × Vanilla Swirl-TFA
1 × Meringue-FA
I want to improve my current ADV. It’s sort of a pear/apple/cobbler flavor, which resulted when an adaptation of a pear/apple recipe was haphazardly mixed with an INW Biscuit single flavor juice.
I love the juice, but I feel that it can be enhanced. The strength of the pear and apple flavors works well with the biscuit, in my opinion, but there’s an element missing that would add cohesiveness to the recipe. The biscuit (which I adore) doesn’t fully blend with the fruit profile, I guess.
Here’s the recipe as is. Sorry for the odd percentages, I think it’s just gotten weird over lots of tweaking and adjustment.
1.68% FA PEAR
2.1% INW Biscuit
3.35% FA Fuji apple
5.03% TFA strawberry ripe
0.84% CAP Super Sweet
I really love this recipe, but I think it has much greater potential. I have lots of flavors which may be complimentary to the profile, such as Joy, Gingerbread, Cinnamon Danish Swirl, FA Cookie, a few Graham Crackers, and a variety of other pears and fruits.
Does anyone have any flavor suggestions that they think would enhance this recipe, or perhaps pull it together?
Thank you in advance!
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/13208#cobbled_peach_by_ediblemalfunction
Take a gander and gleam what you will from one of my old fav recipes. I would definitely leave the sweetener out in your recipe. Something I forgot to edit mine to improve it would be FA Liquid Amber @ 0.75 %. It helps “cook” the fruits.
Some spice would really bring that to life.
I would add 2% CAP Gingerbread or 1.5% CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl and reduce the biscuit by about 0.25 to 0.5%. CDS can have some really odd interactions with Strawberry Ripe though, so be prepared for that one to either be awesome or gross.
Thank you! I’ll try the gingerbread first to avoid the possible negative impact on flavor. It might be possible to substitute Strawberry Ripe with something else if I end up going with the CDS, because the flavor of Strawberry Ripe isn’t really present on the palate, despite the higher percentage. I guess it provides more of a berry backbone to the pear and the apple? Thanks again!
I highly recommend Strawberry Shisha from INW its an integral part of my strawberry stone.
I have a similar recipe, although mine is Apple pie based instead of pear based, but we have similar flavours. That being said I found that just a touch, like .15% or less of A.P goes a LONG way towards bringing it all together. I strongly agree with It10-T on reducing your Biscuit %age. I would actually take it further, I almost never use biscuit above 1.5%, most of my recipes use it at .6%. But my recipes all tend towards the lower end of the overall flavour percentage.
Hi all. So I've taken the plunge of mixing my own juice. Upon recommendations, I've ordered 3 flavour concentrates from darkstar. Lemon 2, orange cream and black cherry, along with a bottle of koolada, all under the brand of the flavour apprentice.
Now I'm not too knowledgeable on mixing but I understand in terms of mls, and I'll be mixing 100mls per time. So I'm aware that I should star with 70mls of vg, around 25mls of pg and around 4mls of the flavour and 1mls of the koolada. Apparently though the quantity you use for the main flavour concentrate varies by the juice. So I was hoping someone could tell me how many mls of the main flavour concentrate to use for Tfa lemon 2, black cherry and orange cream. I like an ice cold vape personally so I think 1mls should be fine. Any input is appreciated. Thanks
I wouldn’t mix 100 mls of juice at a time until you know you will like it. You could end up with a lot of wasted product. You’ll also be using percentages and using a juice calculator to do the conversions for you.
Are you planning to use those flavors by themselves?
First off, 1% Koolada will not be anything close to ice cold. To get really cold with Koolada, you'll have to accept that the flavor will end up a bit off, because you need 3-5% Koolada. Or you can get some WS-23 (and/or WS-5, WS-12, and/or menthyl lactate) and start blending cooling agents. Secondly, who made those recommendations to you? Cherry flavors are difficult to make work, there are SO MANY better lemon flavors than TFA, and orange cream...? That said, look up the flavor reviews in the sidebar. Make tiny test batches of each as a single flavor test, to see if the strengths recommended work for you.
People recommended to me to measure by weight instead of measuring by volume.
But based on the recipes I ve seen, to make a small batch I would need 0,1g accuracy and most scales measure to around 1g, which is like 10% of 10ml of juice.
Do you make bigger batches of 50ml or what? I am in Europe what are some good companies that make such scales, preferably something I can order from Amazon uk.
You actually need a scale that measures to 0.01. We recommend the AWS LB-501 but from what I understand, it’s expensive for those not in the US.
yes it is 40-45€ any other?
edit: it doesn't even ship to my place so..
I've seen something listed for the Euro crowd before. Finding it will require some searching tho.
.01g accuracy is fine. You do NOT need .0001g accuracy (which you mention) unless you're using something like TFA Cinnamon Spice, and even then you really just need to dilute it prior to using in a mix. Personally, I tend to make test batches a bit bigger than 10ml so it isn't quite so dependent. (And some of the recipes that are listed as X.YZ% aren't really in stone... I list mine that way, but I calculate the percentages from the weight that I actually ended up with in a mix. Multiple the percentages by the total weight (in grams) and then round to two digits and you'll be fine. I expect others' recipes are similar.)
Anyone ever have “sticks & stones” by bluedot vapors and cloned it succesfully? I love that juice but I’m tired of spending hundreds per year on it. It’s a mango sticky rice. I made some of shyndo’s recipie but it’s way too heavy on the coconut and it drowns out the mango.
I’m looking for a bright/sweet mango dominant with a sticky rice base and a very faint coconut. Any advice? Shyndo calls for flavorah mango which was expensive but doesn’t give me that strong sweet mango like capella’a mango does in other recipies. Thanks for any help.
Ps. Also looking for any other good mango based recipes as well
There’s a mango sticky rice flavor in the running for the Best Recipe of 2017 thread. Last time I checked it was the top comment, and it sounds delicious!
There’s also a Clone Request thread, if you want to try to replicate that exact juice.
I've decided to start mixing my own liquid so i need a bit of help please. I'm thinking of buying an unflavoured bottle of nicotine juice and and just adding flavour shots to it. Would this work and how much of flavor to non flavoured ratio should be? Like if i have 300ml of unvlavoured juice how many ml of flavour shot should i add to it? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Flavor shots? Or just flavoring?
Yeah flavour shots. They sell them at Mt Baker vapor and they're only 4.99 each so it'd save me some cash if they're strong flavour
Hi there!
I’ve been looking for an easy cola Flavour/recipe. I’m interested in getting it as close to coke as it can get. Kind of like a Darren Cole Fantastic but for cola would be the ideal thing.
Someone recommended TPA Cola to me but I’m wondering if there’s anything better. I’m kind of a beginner in mixing my own eliquids so the least components the better.
Sorry if this post shouldn’t be here. First time in the sub ;)
Hello all;
Me again annoying you with begginner stuff!!
Since i just got in the game of DIY, can other beginners/ Seasones DIYers help me with some recipes that work and give me the push i need to make more and more
The Flavors i have are (TFA) :
Fruit Circles Bubblegum Blueberry extra Sweetener Liquid Menthol Koolada Popcorn Banana Cream Key lime Coconut extra Yellow Cake Pineapple Vanilla Ice Cream Strawberry Cheesecake (Graham cracker) Bavarian Cream Sweet Cream Vanilla Custard French Vanilla Koolada Marshmallow Sweet Cream Graham Cracker Vanilla Swirl Peanut Butter
Thanks for the help in advance
Hi, I'm terrible at suggesting recipes, but you might consider two options. One is to post in the weekly thread for such requests, see if you have better luck there. (Edit: I see now that you've already done that, never mind =)
The other is to try the "what can I make" feature of ELR or ATF.
I made this mistake when I first started too - buying a bunch of random flavors and hoping they can be combined to make something interesting. It didn't work, because you're handcuffing yourself.
Instead, try buying flavors based on popular recipes and mixing those up. You'll start to learn about what flavors work well together, and at what percentages. Then you can start to mix your own stuff with that knowledge.
Has anybody tried Inawera Watermelon? I'm not sure what I am tasting but it certainly not watermelon. Its almost a florally, soap tasting flavor. The store I bought from re-bottles. I'm not sure if I got the right flavor? I dunno.
What percentage are you trying it at? INW flavors are usually pretty potent...
From this I would say it sounds like you might have gone a little high. Remember, watermelon is supposed to be a fairly bland taste, so if you bumped up the percentage chasing something stronger...
I used 1%. It just tastes strange. I mean all the other watermelon flavors I have taste like candy, or actual watermelon (fa). This one tastes peculiar.
(plain) Inawera Melon on the other hand is delicious.
[edit] Thank you for that link. I'm still learning how tto navigate reddit. That's recent and I'm reading it now.
I recently had a craving for a cookie vape, and I mixed "Milk and Sugar Cookies" I found here. https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/10633
It is quite excellent, I am pleased, but I would like to add a touch of apple, like the moist and sweet kind you'd expect in an apple pie. Any suggestions what flavor would go well with this?
It's hard to go wrong with a bit of FA Fuji, it's potent enough to really shine in a recipe like this, but it's not sweet. You might want something more along the lines of CAP Double Apple or INW Shisha Apple, or a combo with Fuji.
FLV Apple Filling is really good, but it's more of an apple sauce, very sweet and syrupy, not very moist.
There's a plethora of apple flavors out there, so you have some options, but based on the recipe and your description, these are the ones I'd consider.
I am intrigued by Shisha Apple. That might actually work quite well. I do have CAP Double Apple in my inventory, but my impression was this is a sour and more authentic/real apple flavor, not the sweet and moist kind. I will try it, maybe the rest of the recipe will take care of the baked, moist touch I am looking for. Thanks!
I have a bottle of 24mg 100% VG nicotine that is from December 2014. It was opened and maybe 20mls used during that month. Since then it has been in a tightly closed plastic container at room temperature in the dark. I just drew a bit into a pipette after shaking and it had a slight amber color.
This would indicate oxidized nicotine, correct? Any chance it would be usable? I'm leaning towards I should probably just dump it. What is the proper way to dispose of about 100ml of it?
Make up a tiny sample batch. Yes it has oxidized some... buy it may not be too badly oxidized yet. Only you can tell if it's unvapeable, but you should test it first.
A 10ml unflavored mix should be sufficient then. I'm familiar with the taste of straight vg so I should be able to pick out how strong the taste of the nicotine is.
I also have some 48mg nic from about 2 years ago that I'm currently using because it's still crystal clear. Thinking about getting one of those self-sealing bottles with my next order. However if I remember correctly it was through nude nic who I'd rather not deal with.
I recently received my order from Nicotine River. 36MG PG Nic and some other things.
In the box, the bottle of nic was sealed in a zip lock bag (thank god). The bag was filled with nicotine because it appears the foil seal on the bottle wasn't sealed properly. Freaked out a little and cleaned up like a mad man. The nic itself is damn near crystal clear, so I figured, eh, I've only lost around 15% or so of the bottle, it WAS sealed in a bag, so, no harm no foul.
BUT, this stuff is HARSH. I am new to this, so I figured my juice needed to steep more, but even with "shake and vape" recipes, it is harsh.
So I made some recipes with no nic, and they are smooth as can be.
Question being, is it possible for nic to be "bad" and still have a clear color? Could something as simple as the bottle leaking inside of a sealed bag allowed enough oxygen to degrade the nic?
Again, I'm new to this, so not sure if I'm missing something? I am mixing to 3mg so I know throat hit should be minimal.
Has anyone ever just mixed juice right in their tank? Could it be problematic doing so?
Why though?
I'm almost out of 10ml bottle and I would rather be creatively lazy until I can afford to order more.
You won't be able to mix it properly and if the coil is exposed, you'll end up vaping concentrated flavors.
What if I added the vg and pg first? I always add the flavoring last
It would be really hard to get it evenly mixed in a tank, especially since you can't fill it all the way up and the chimney is blocking the movement. It'll just be a lot more trouble than its worth and even if you do it perfectly, odds are you will accidentally vape concentrated flavorings or nic. Nothing is stopping you from trying though if you need to see for yourself.
If you don't want to invest in bottles, just find yourself some dedicated mixing container.
Any opinions on Carolina Extracts nic? I have been using the PG 48mg Nic from Liquid Barn. Thanks!!
It's widely regarded as the best, smoothest, longest staying fresh nicotine available. It's also a bit pricey, so I think most people look for the second or third best nicotine they can find, trying to balance quality with cost. But if you want the best, go ahead and order some.
So a little preface. I have been vaping a while and have tried tons of juices and have just come to the conclusion that my preference is custards and the occasional cereal juice. I am not a huge fruit flavor person so i don't even particularly like strawberry or blueberry custard. My ADV is Killer Kustard so i am mostly looking to get close to that flavor to make 400-500 mL at a time which should last roughly long enough until the next batch would be done ageing.
I know custards take somewhere around 3-4 weeks to develop and i have tried various clone recipes I have found on ELR or ATF but one batch i mixed too vigorously and suspect i aerated it as it turned bright pink/red by the next day. Also it had a very peppery/sharp taste but smelled almost identical to KK.
I have made several other custard recipes (mostly involving either TFA or CAP Vanilla Custard, French Vanilla, Marshmallow, etc) but either they ended up having the same peppery taste or no flavor at all. I have sampled my PG, VG, and ordered new Nic (Nude Nic) and am going to try to remake some of them again but I am looking for any advice from people experienced with Custards.
I guess i should also mention I am not asking for a clone recipe or any recipe for that matter as once I can atleast get the custard and vanilla to come through I would like to tweak it some myself but even with a 70/30 blend (no nic) at 5%, 8%, and 12% I am not really tasting much of anything when i try to sample just the vanilla custard concentrate.
What nicotine were you using before?
You mentioned you know about steeping, but did you actually let your mixes steep?
I had some from DIY Vapor Supply however it was old so im thinking it was a bit oxidized causing the peppery taste. The problem is after that i made the same recipe without nic and the color looks fine but still tastes peppery. Im still letting that steep to see if maybe it just needs more time, but i dont think vanilla should taste peppery should it?
I've come across a recipe I want to try making but I don't have the Vanilla Custard:
- Banana Cream LA 4%
- Bavarian Cream TPA 1.5%
- Cheesecake (Graham Crust) TPA 3%
- Strawberry (Ripe) TPA 7%
- Vanilla Custard (V1) CAP 2.5%
I was thinking of trying one of two things, just leaving the custard out or replacing it with VBIC. I have heard that Strawberry (Ripe) doesn't go well with VBIC though.
So which would be better to do, leave out or replace? What kind of percentage should VBIC be used in place of the custard?
Hey.. would someone be so kind as to suggest flavor ratios to make a vanilla custard with these flavors?
- Bavarian Cream TFA
- Sweet Cream TFA
- Vanilla Swirl TFA
- Marshmallow TFA
- Vanilla Custard TFA
- Caramel FA
- Butterscotch FA
Not all have to be used in the mix, I'm just saying that these are able to be used in the recipe.
I've been trying to brows ELR to see how people make creams and custards, but I'd like your opinions, too.
With what you have here, i would personally try something like this:
- TFA Vanilla Custard - 4% (main custard note, could maybe go higher with it, but i tend to keep my percentages lower when possible)
- TFA Bav Cream - 2% (adds some warm creamyness, a bit of a caramel-esque note, and some mouth feel)
- TFA Vanilla Swirl - 2.5% (adds some nice bright vanilla notes)
- TFA Marshmallow - 1.5% (used mainly as an additive to bring some extra sweetness and body)
I dont have much experience using FA butterscotch or FA Caramel, but both of those might have a nice place in that recipe, i would probably use one or the other though, just to keep things simple. I didnt add them because i dont have enough knowledge on those particular flavors.
Thats a nice simple little mix. Could probably use a touch of sweetener for my tastes but thats just me personally. I am still a rather new mixer but figured id give you something to mess around with. If i had these flavors thats what i would try personally. If this isnt a good suggestion for a mix, rest assure someone here will say something :P
Thank you. I was mainly adding the caramel because I thought the custards and creams would be all mid (and possibly high) notes and the juice would need something faintly bitter to add some bottom notes.. and I read about caramel flavorings and several people said to add a bit of butterscotch to the caramel.
I'm getting some acetyl pyrazine (SP?) and I might try a sample with just a dab of that in it instead of caramel/butterscotch.
I have several empty 10ml/30ml bottles to mix up variations of the juices I'm working on. (vanilla custard / blueberries & cream / menthol tobacco)
Get CAP Vanilla Custard V1. Or better yet, INW Custard.
Thanks. I'm filling out a Bull City order and I wanted to make a rich, creamy vanilla custard. The caramel and butterscotch are for another recipe, but I'd be able to use them.
I can't really find a custard like that on ELR to see what ratios they would use. Most of the recipes that come up when I search Vanilla Custard are fruit custards, tobacco custards and cheesecake custards.
I'm considering:
- Vanilla Custard CAP - 5%
- Bavarian Cream TFA - 2%
- Vanilla Swirl TFA - 3%
- Sweet Cream TFA - 1%
- Marshmallow TFA - 1%
- Caramel FA - 2%
- Butterscotch FA - 1%
That looks like a great start. It may not be perfectly balanced or nuanced exactly how you want, but you have chosen your percentages well and will likely get something tasty out of this. It may take a week or two to reach its full potential but will still be vapable in the meantime.
PS You should be fine to mix this up with TFA V Custard. CAP's is better but no reason to wait on another flavor order to try out your recipe.
Yeah... don't look for recipes on ELR. Too much garbage to wade through. And really that recipe seems way overly complex. You really don't need any more than INW custard, CAP VCV1, INW vanilla shisha, and maybe a little TFA RY4 Double and you'll probably have the same result.
Does anyone have a secret technique for cleaning LDPE bottles of lingering smells? I was storing some Bomberry Shake (a purchase I was very excited to try. However it tastes and smells like burnt cream, and not in the pleasant Cajeta or Dulce de Leche way) in one of those chubby gorilla bottles that you get with VaporDNA purchases and the smell lingers after rinsing thoroughly and even trying a touch of Dawn liquid. I'd love to reuse the bottle without imparting an over bruleed creme brulee flavor to the next juice.
I have been using these bottles for over a year and just rinse them out with tap water and let them air dry. If a bottle has a lingering smell it has never carried over into a new mix for me.
That’s good to hear. Thanks!
I usually reuse bottles only for similar flavor profiles and usually don't have a problem... however flavor transfer has been an issue for me a few times and I have had to dump juice because of it.
My "secret technique" is to fill the bottle with tap water and let it sit a few days. Then squirt from the bottle straight into your mouth. If there's flavor transfer from the bottle you'll taste it right away. In that case, rinse and repeat until the water tastes normal. IME raspberry is the worst for absorbing into LDPE. Also, menthol bottles are never reused for anything but menthol mixes.
I'm not a super-taster but I'm hyper-sensitive to plastic taste. I can't eat McD's burgers if they have lettuce on them because I can taste the plastic bag the lettuce was in.
But yeah, just do like like chewymidget said and you'll be fine. I also skip the air-drying step and just wing the water out instead. Sure there's a tiny amount of tap water in the bottle but it doesn't bother me like plastic taste or flavor transfer.
Hey guys,
First time poster here. Long story short, I am familiar with mixing juice and dealing with adding nicotine after the mix, but I am trying to get into salt nic. Basically my question is are there any good recipes that you know of for salt nic juices, and also, what is the difference in volume of nic between regular and salt. I know for example in a 60ml bottle if I want a 3 it calls for 1.8cc of nic. I'm mainly looking to do 25s and 45s for salt in 30ml bottles, but have no idea how much to add. Thanks for any help
Assuming you buy 100mg/ml salt nic source... then in a 30ml bottle 7.5ml or 13.5ml will give you 25 or 45 mg/ml, respectively. Or, to put it more simply, 25% or 45% of your recipe will be nic base. So you'll definitely not want it in pure PG unless you're a masochist.
